Install O10g AS on WIN2008R2
Dear all,
First of all I know about the compatibility, but what can I say, I have to plus I love doing experiments.
I'm trying to install Oracle 10g Application Server on Windows 2008 R2.
While installing Infrastructure, I got an error: (Ora-12560: TNS: Protocol adapter error).
When I checked (OracleServiceORCL) on services.. it was not running.
I tried to start the service, but I got this error: (Windows could not start the OracleServiceORCL service on local computer. Error 1067)
I searched everywhere and read every piece of paper.. NO SUCCESS

any suggestions??!!
Thanks in advance.

Dear,
I didn't touch listener file nor tnsnames in beginning.
my problem is during installing Oracle Infrastructure, that service didn't start,, and installation didn't complete.
I googled for this problem and found one thread asking to change (service_name) in tnsnames.org to (SID), still didn't work. (This worked fine when I installed Oracle Database 11g)
I did the same installation on WinServer2008 32bit ,, NO Success.
I install it on WinServer2003 , it did work.

Installing O10g on Windows XP 2002 home
Hi,
trying to install O10g on Windows XP 2002 home always results in error starting the OUI. Whenever I click on setup.exe a dos-window pops up telling me to wait and after a few seconds, i'll get the message that oui has caused a problem and needs to be shut off. Anybody had this problem before? And how can I solve it? Is there a special download for xp 2002 home? Many thanks in advance :)
IrisUnfortunatly there's no download for XP Home, because Oracle only supports XP Professional. On the other hand many people get it to run on XP Home. There should be a logfile (probably in C:\Programme\Oracle\Inventory\logs), hopefully there are more informations.

Silly issue: Unable to install network drivers for Win2008r2 or Win2012r2
It must be because it's Friday evening and I'm just lucky like that but for some reason I'm not able to install the network drivers for my Windows 2008 R2 or Windows 2012 R2 installs in B200-M3 servers.
I've mounted the Cisco driver ISO (ucs-bxxx-drivers.2.1.3.iso) and in each OS I've gone to Device Manager, then had to View -> Hidden Devices to show the Network Adaptors, then tried to have it install drivers from the ISO but no luck. I did go to the correct subfolder Windows -> Network -> Cisco -> etc. and even tried just having it search the whole CD, searching subfolders. It either says no drivers found, or--for Windows 2012-- it says that Windows has determined that the driver software is up to date.
I've got to be missing something obvious. Any help would be most appreciated!Hi Benjamin
We have done this many times; which UCS version are you using ?
Check
Interop Matrix http://www.cisco.com/c/dam/en/us/td/docs/unified_computing/ucs/interoperability/matrix/r_hcl_B_rel2-21.pdf
and Installation Guide
http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/unified_computing/ucs/os-install-guides/windows/b_B-Series_Windows_Install.pdf
Please use
ISO image of UCS-related drivers Release Date 12-DEC-2013
ucs-bxxx-drivers.2.2.1.iso
Normally you are asked during the Windows installation if you would like to install additional drivers; say yes, unmap the install iso, map the above driver iso, install fnic and enic driver; then unmap driver iso, map Windows install iso; do a refresh.
Good luck

O10g se db install - application log gets full
Hi
I have installed o10g se db release 10.1.0.2 on windows server. (AMD Athlon 1.3GHz, 512 MBy RAM, windows 2000 server, sp4).
After installation the application log gets full with the error message:
Source: Perflib
Description:
The Open Procedure for service "Nbf" in DLL "C:\WINNT\system32\perfctrs.dll" failed. Performance data for this service will not be available. Status code returned is data DWORD 0.
Does anyone know what is the cause an how to solve the problem.
Regards, PetrMatt,
I am glad (well not glad, it sucks but I'm glad I'm not alone) to hear you are experiencing the same thing. I have literally tried everything to get this to work. I even took a brand new laptop out of the box and Adobe was the only thing I installed. I can usually follow other posts and fix issues but I am stumped and WAY aggrivated. I love the concept as does my editing team but I'm in charge of installing and updating 5 PC's and my team is now aggrivated that they can't get what they need to do their jobs. Even if you download the trials, you don't get everything you need for the whole cloud process. Not to mention we all need updates badly and really need to start using Edge Animate. -

In this case it says "However the primary interface on the system should be configured with a static IP address", so I would probably take that action.
As far as I know there is no Distro called 'Linux4'. Once you identify the distro properly, you might get an explanation of the basic steps to do network admin on the box. If that distro is some variant on Red Hat, you could use the CentOS docs at http://centos.org/docs/4/ , in particular Section IV. -

hi,
i have installed Oracle 10g Release 10.2.0.1.0 on Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit,
on my Laptop, by modifying refhost.xml file,
i added these lines and installation was done without any error;
<!–Microsoft Windows 7–>
<OPERATING_SYSTEM>
<VERSION VALUE=”6.1″/>
</OPERATING_SYSTEM>
i took it from this site..http://windows7bugs.wordpress.com/2010/02/18/install-oracle-10g-onward-database-developer-on-windows-7/
After installation when LocalHost gets open, i logged in as,
Userid = SYS
PWD = ORCL
as SYSDBA
it gives error ;
- java.lang.Exception: Exception in sending Request :: null
- unknown host
- incorrect userid/pwd
i want to unlock user scott..
is it because i installed O10g on 32bit machine.?
kindly suggest.user649208,
It is happening because of you have not granted some privileges to the Oracle on Windows. Please follow those steps accordingly;
Login as Administrator then;
Start --> Administrative Tools --> Local Security Policy --> Local Policies --> User Rights Assignments
Double click on Create Global Objects and add the Oracle user to the list. Your problem will be gone.
There is a note in the Metalink for that error (SP2-1503: Unable to initialize Oracle call interface)
Hope it helps,

Here we go again... new release, new round of unsuccessful connections.
P6 Pro 8.3 attempting to connect to Oracle PMDB or EPPM schema.
I have a great installation of P6 8.3 EPPM Web up and running with BI 11.1.1.6.0 /P6 Analytics 3.1 /Unifier
Things I have tried:
- Clean build to new local database on 32bit (Windows 7 Pro) platform with Oracle 10g XE
- Upgrade local db from a working 8.2 installation to 8.3 32bit with Oracle 10g XE
- TNS to working EPPM 8.3 database with P6 Pro client installed on VM - tested successful with 8.2, fails with 8.3
- Clean P6 Client install to desktop of Win2008R2 (64bit) Application server connecting to existing functional Oracle 11g EPPM
- Use of admin.cmd and dbconfig.cmd (~\P6 Professional\Pro\Java directory) to configure/manage connection is successful
- Only one JAVA_HOME - correctly set to the version that installs during P6 8.3 install process
- both 32bit and 64bit JRE - same results
- Correctly edited/tested tnsnames on the client and listner on the server. (Confirmed by EPPM Web functional)
- I can tnsping both a local instance and network db instances
- using pubuser to connect
- pubuser exists and can login via SQL Developer
- upgrade from known good 8.2 to 8.3 db breaks the connection and leaves you with NOTHING TO WORK WITH
- .Net and DHTML installed and correctly configured.
Please answer if you can, Oracle Support seems to be down at the moment.Some progress... Oracle support is now accessible.
Oracle Support Document 913053.1 helped me address part of the problem. By adding another Path variable as described in the support document, I was finally able to connect to the EPPM and local XE databases using a client PC (Win7 Pro 32bit). The Path variable existed, but with a minor difference - the word BIN was not capitalized. The variable value of [C:\app\product\11.2.0\client_1\BIN] was able to connect successfully. The value [C:\app\product\11.2.0\client_1\bin] was unsuccessful. I am able to repeat this problem.
In my case, it seems that with P6 Pro 8.3, the Path Variable might now have become case sensitive. The steps to perform this funky "secret handshake" are both incompletely discussed and cryptic in the P6 Admin Guide, where it talks about the Oracle 11g Instant Client. The Oracle 11g Instant Client is NOT INCLUDED in the P6 Media Kit. (what a surprise)
I have yet to find why the P6 Pro 8.3 will not connect from the desktop of the server (as 8.2 did) using the 32bit client software. This is most unsettling, because many of my clients use a terminal server installation of the client, which obviously will have this problem. -
Can I install win2008R2 Standard if I own a win2008R2 enterprise License?
As title.
Hii Martin..
There is no way you can degrade from Enterprise to Standard. It is at OS level not at application level, which can be removed and reinstalled again. Best to create new servers with standard editions and get rid of these or buy enterprise lic.
I'm fairly certain such a thing is not possible. DISM can be used to "upgrade" from, say, Standard to Enterprise, but you can't go the other way, according to this Technet blog post:
http://blogs.technet.com/b/server_core/archive/2009/10/14/upgrading-windows-server-2008-r2-without-media.aspx
The only best way is to Re-install and no simple way as it could break the windows functionality.
A 2008 R2 Datacenter license does allow for multiple (unlimited, in fact) Enterprise guest OSes on the server to which the Datacenter license has been applied. The host OS on that server does not have to be 2008 R2 Datacenter, or even Windows - the virtual
licensing still applies if the host is running VMware, for example. (The only thing you'd lose in that case is the right to run a physical instance of 2008 R2 Datacenter as the virtualization host - you're not permitted to split that off and run it on
another server.)
If you choose this route, note that Datacenter is licensed per physical processor, so you may have to purchase more than one Datacenter license (which aren't cheap) for a single server.

Hello Experts
I am adding a additional MS into my current SCSM 2012 sp1 MANAGEMENT Group. But its failing with the below error message .One thing is little wiered here is ...that the wizard fails with the message that the UPGARDE FAILED , but I am not rying to upgrade
, I am adding a MS on a new 2012 vm. It goes all the way and install the services with the account , but then it rollbacks everything I am installing the bits with the same account which is the admin on the workflow server . I have created a registry
key ServicesPipeTimeout to 600000ms , but still no luck . The new VM is all up to date with patches , the sdk/config account is the admin on the new ms vm . The service manager db is a cluster , not sure if that's wats causing it .

Install windows 2008 server r2 as a vm on windows 8.1 pro
I am trying to install windows 2008 server r2 as a vm on an asus I7 4th gen. on windows 8 pro. It goes
thru the install untill completing install and gives error the computer restarted unexpectedly or encountered an unxpexted error windows installation cannot proceed click ok to restart. I do the shift f10 and change the registery to force finsh the install.
It boots up but when I try to do anything. It goes into netio.sys BSOD issueI haven't run into that problem, but when setting up the OS, just
remove the NIC from the settings, do the install, make sure it's running, then install the integration
services, reboot, then add the NIC back in.
You could also use a legacy network adapter if that doesn't work.
In any case I'm trying an install of Win2008R2 right now so I can see if I get the same problem...

How to install W7 Promise driver for K9A2 Platinum
First of all i assume no responsability for any loss of data ,everything described here is done on your own risk.BACK-UP data before doing this.
Any K9A2 Platinum v1 user was disapointed when looking on the product page seeing no W7 driver.As a MSI tech recommended a driver from Promise i said to myself to try it and of course , it did not installed the normal way.You could force it tru HAve Disk from within Windows 7 only when running form the SB 600 .Also Windows updates installs an update for the cip.
The procedure is simple ,practically you only need to edit one or 2 INF files depending on the W7 version.
FTTX4650-2650 controllers are both compatible with Windows 7 as the Microsoft website shows.
Download driver from Promise website the driver for FTTX4650-2650 Win7 Win2008R2 WHQL V 1.3.0.4 -> file name FTTX4650-2650_Win7_Win2008R2_WHQL_V_1.3.0.4
Unzip the archive and navigate to the i386 or/and amd64 folders locate <FTT3s.inf> file/s ,open with Notepad.For the .inf extension to be visible go to File & Folder Options and enable extensions to be visible.
Under the [Promise] section add the folowing lines ,this ID s were harvested from within Windows 7 Promise properties ,when no driver was installed

If it looks like this save the file.
Go and Install it.
A warning message for the driver will appear as with any beta or unsigned driver ,ignore it.
When in W7 update the Promise as offered by Windows update.
I will not be held resposable for any damage or data loss.You are doing this on your own risk.Back-up your data and test the driver for yourselves before long term usage.

Promote a 2012 DC using PowerShell 3.0 workflow hangs on Install-ADDSForest
Hi,
seeing the value in PowerShell 3.0 workflow for machine / classroom installation I am trying to automate the entire installation of a SharePoint 2013 machine. First steps include making the server a domain controller.
To promote the domain controller I make use of the ADDSDeployment module / Install-ADDSForest command. When used in a normal, non-workflow, PowerShell session the command works just fine. However, when running this command in a workflow that continues
after a reboot the command seems to hang. I also found that debugging a workflow, well, is rather difficult :)
First, my sample script configures the computer name. Next it reboots. The workflow will be continueing with the installion of the AD-Domain-Services feature. Right after that I call Install-ADDSForest. You can find the full script below.
For getting the workflow to auto-continue after the reboot I have used two approaches. I have tried to use the RunOnce registry key to fire up PowerShell. This would be my preferred approach as you can see the PowerShell window running before the Explorer
shell loads. The second approach involves the scheduled task trigger as described on Technet in the PowerShell workflow section. Either way, the promotion command is stuck. I have left it running overnight, after which the workflow still wasn't done.
Here's my awesomeness:
workflow Install-Wingtip {
InlineScript {
$Computer = Get-WmiObject Win32_ComputerSystem
$Computer.Rename("WingtipDC") | Out-Null
#Get ready for reboot
#Either use the RunOnce key combined with auto-login
#Set-ItemProperty -Path "HKLM:\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce" `-Name "ConfigureServer" -Value "powershell -executionPolicy Unrestricted -Command Import-Module PSWorkflow; Get-Job | Resume-Job -Wait; Get-Job | Wait-Job"
#Set-ItemProperty -Path "HKLM:\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon" -Name "DefaultUserName" -Value "Administrator"
#Set-ItemProperty -Path "HKLM:\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon" -Name "DefaultPassword" -Value "pass@word1"
#Set-ItemProperty -Path "HKLM:\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon" -Name "AutoAdminLogon" -Value "1"
#Set-ItemProperty -Path "HKLM:\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon" -Name "AutoLogonCount" -Value "1"
# Or use a -AtStartup trigger
$Trigger = New-ScheduledTaskTrigger -AtStartup
Register-ScheduledJob -Name ResumeWorkflow -Trigger $Trigger -ScriptBlock { Import-Module PSWorkflow; Get-Job -State Suspended | Resume-Job }
Restart-Computer -Wait
InlineScript {
Import-Module ServerManager
Install-WindowsFeature AD-Domain-Services
InlineScript {
Import-Module ADDSDeployment
Install-ADDSForest `
-DomainName "Wingtip.com" `
-DomainNetbiosName "Wingtip" `
-SafeModeAdministratorPassword (ConvertTo-SecureString -String "pass@word1" -AsPlainText -Force) `
-NoDnsOnNetwork `
-InstallDns `
-DomainMode Win2008R2 `
-ForestMode Win2008R2 `
-NoRebootOnCompletion `
-Confirm:$false
Write-Output -InputObject "Done creating domain controller"
Perhaps anyone has tried something similar? I cannot be the only one looking at promoting a DC through workflow I guess!
Thanks,
WouterHi Diana,
during the setup there is no dcpromo.log present in the folder you mention. I have a dcpromoui.log and a dfsr000001.log as well as a netsetup.log. Fun stuff, if I read the dcpromoui.log correctly it should have created a domain controller and a new forest.
However, my machine is still member of a workgroup after reboot, so it isn't in the state you'd expect.
