    Hi,
You can install 11g and Informatica on same machine, just check the system configuration required.
Go through Certification matrix of 11g and BI Apps

  • How to Install OBIEE and BIP on a machine with Windows XP ?

    Hi,
I am very new to OBIEE and want to learn it by myself.
Can I install OBIEE and BI Publisher on my home PC with Windows XP ? Can I install client and server on the same PC?
If no, what are the other options ?
    Please help!!
    Thanks!
    Yogini

Thanks for the link, but I am referring the same to install OBIEE.
    The pre-requisites section says :
    Client operating systems:
    - Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional with Service Pack 3 or later
    - Microsoft Windows 2003 Professional with Service Pack 1 or later (32-bit only)
    - Microsoft Windows XP Professional with Service Pack 1 or later
    Server operating systems:
    - For Oracle BI Server: Microsoft Windows 2000 Service Pack 4/2003 Server
Thats why I wonder if I can install client and server on the same machine with Windows XP ?
    Please do let me know.

  • Installing DAC and Informatica

My topology is defined as Informatica PC server in Linux and DAC server in Linux.
    Informatica PC clients in Windows.
That seems to be a correct topology.
I have Informatica PC server in Linux running OK, and also Informatica clients in Windows installed.
Now when coming to DAC installation I am kind of lost... Edelivery has a DAC for windows and a DAC for Linux.
When trying to install DAC for Windows it will install both DAC clients AND SERVER in Windows >> It seems I have to do this and then just ignore this DAC SERVER ??
Or should I use the DAC for Linux ?
When trying to install DAC for WIndows it asks for Informatica location and domain >> It is asking for the SERVER locations ? or the client... it is not clear
How to point to the domain given that Informatica server is installed in Linux ?
Txs. a lot for any help.
    Antonio

    Hi,
Installer allows you to install both DAC Client and server on the Windows. But DO NOT start the dac server if you install it.
On the installer the 3rd page is the 'Component Installation' You can click off the radio button for DAC Server. This will then only install the Client on windows.
On the linux, download the DAC for Linux. This time, click install the DAC Server. start DAC server on the Linux.
Now for the question of Informatica Location. When you are doing this on the Windows, you will have a location for the Informatica eg:
C:\Informatica\PowerCenter8.1.1\ put this entry in the top field.
Then underneath 'C:\Informatica\PowerCenter8.1.1\' look for the domain.infa file. Usual path is : 'C:\Informatica\PowerCenter8.1.1\domains.infa'
Personally i would install CLient and server on the Windows but not start the Server.

  • OBIEE and Solaris installation

    Hi,
This is my first time doing install of OBIEE 10.1.3.4.1 on Solaris10 and all working fine using default OC4J basic install. However when I want to use JBOSS AS 4.3 instead of OC4J, I am having some issues and hoping someone can shed some light here.
    1. OBIEE was installed using 'oracle' user.
    2. JBOSS was installed using 'jboss' user.
    3. Deployed analytics.war to JBOSS - no problem.
    4. Deployed xmlpserver.war to JBOSS by extracting war files into xmlpserver.war directory, modified xmlpserver-server-config.xml to point to XMLP repository.
    5. Login to BIP ok.
    6. Trying to modify OBI Presentation service settings (eg. server name and port) but getting "Could not write to configuration file" error.
Is this because OBIEE and JBOSS installation was done by two different users (therefore file access permission issue)? What is the best practice for installing OBIEE and J2EE app server in Solaris? Should it be installed by the same user or two different users but under the same group maybe? Any guidance will be greatly appreciated!
Edited by: gommie on 08-Sep-2009 18:19

Definitely sounds like a permissions issue.
I couldn't vouch for best practice, but our installations were originally done two separate users (one for OBIEE, one for our app server, OAS) - but I changed it all to run under the same user as OBIEE.
It makes controlling services easier, and it eliminates file permission problems like you're seeing.
You could probably do it with putting both users in the same group and some umask magic to make sure files always have the same permissions for group as owner - but why bother if you can use the same user.
We saw problems running under two users which probably could have been solved in the long run by understanding exactly how OBIEE and app server interact and working carefully with umasks etc -- but again, unless there's a really good reason to have separate users, why make extra work for yourself.
I suppose if you were on a shared server and not the only application running on jboss I could see why separate users might be a better idea - but that's the only reason that springs to mind.
** caveat ** I'm not a unix sysadmin, I'm an app guy dabbling in unix - this advice may be wrong, it may in fact go against best practice. but it's worked for us so far :)
BTW is there a reason you're not installing the latest version, 10.1.3.4.1?
    <edit>
please don't [cross-post|http://forums.oracle.com/forums/message.jspa?messageID=3744343#3744343], IMHO - this could be a useful thread and having replies in two places dilutes its usefulness in the future

  • Installing obiee

    Hi All,
I was in the process of running rcu to create a repository for OBIEE and ODI. When I got to the components page I noticed the OBIee and ODI components were not available for selection.
I was warned that the oracle character set is not AL32UTF8. Could this be the reason for the restricted view. Should I convert to this character set to see the additional components.
    Thanks.
    Looking forward to your response.
    Thanks
    Helen

    Hi,
The oracle character set has nothing to do with the visibility of the components for installation. Probably you are mistaken that the required repositories for both OBIEE and ODI are run by the same RCU.
Follow these links for detailed step by step process to install OBIEE and ODI.

  • Install OBIEE,Informatica,DAC,BI APPS on windows

    hi,
I want to install OBIEE on windows with following components
    OBIEE 10g
    DATABASE 10g
    INFORMATICA 8.6.1
    DAC 10
    BI APPS 7.9.6.
Oracle Documentation for installation & configuration is too complicated...
Can anyone provide installation & configuration steps with snapshot.

You can download it and install it.
Below what I have done to install it:

You don't need the software then you can only install the database instance with the visio sample data.

  • OBIEE 11g, Informatica and DAC: Migrating from Oracle DB to SQL Server?

    Hi Gurus,
Currently we are implementing OBIEE 11g with Oracle BI Application for EBS (Supply Chain, Procurement & Finance modules). We have incorporated all OUT-OF-THE-BOX mappings and configurations in DAC, Informatica and RPD (no change, only OOTB). We were using Oracle DB and Linux servers.
Now the client wants to migrate this to one Windows box.
Can anyone point out, what are the changes need to done to migrate to SQL Server database. Any existing documentation or link will be helpful.
Edited by: Sudipta Gupta on Aug 2, 2012 1:59 PM

If you are using SQL Server 2008 then you need to edit the DAC config.bat file replace sqljdbc.jar with sqljdbc4.jar.
Rest of DAC and Informatica configuration is almost similar.
Let us if you come across any issues.
    Hope this helps

  • Can I install OBIEE 10g and 11g on the same machine?

While I'm waiting for new hardware, I wanted to get started on installing OBIEE 11g on my laptop. Can I do this if I already have 10g installed?
I want to make sure if I install it that it will not impact my current 10g setup. I'm not sure if it overrides certain files and folders or if I can do a separate installation to have both.

    Hello everyone.
I have OBIEE 10g on my Production box pointing to the Oracle Database 11g R1 which is also having OWB integrated in it.
Now, I am planning to upgrade OBIEE 10g to 11g and Oracle Database from 11g R1 to 11g R2, so that OWB will also be upgarded, as it is integrated in 11gR2.
I am confused about, how to run RCU on the database, as OBIEE 10g schemas and packages will already be there in the database.
If I run RCU again, what will it do???
Has anyone done this before? or any good document available ?
    Many Thanks,
    Ahsan.

    Hi Abhishek,
You can install or mount both DB and OBIEE on same machine, but check out the disk space and memory needed should be more to accomodate both.

  • OBIEE and EPM install on Same box

    Hi
I have installed EPM 11.1.2.2 and OBIEE on same linux box with different weblogic domains. (bifoundation for OBIEE and epmsystem1 for EPM).
But will creating these weblogic domains i used 7001 as the port in both the cases. ( for obiee i used basic install where it takes default port).
OBIEE /analytics is coming up at 7001 but if i try to enter with the epmsystem1 .. it denies the logon.. username and password not correct.
I have few questions here :
    1) How can OBIEE and EPM weblogic domains be created on the same port : 7001
    2) why my epm instance is not coming up at 7001 although i installed it at 7001.
Because of this if i restart my hyperion services .. they wouldn.t come up untill i stop obiee.. so i have to first start epm and the OBIEE and the other way round would not work.
The best way to avoid this would be create these two weblogic domains on differenr ports, but since i was confused with this behaviour.. thought of asking it to the experts.
    Thank You
    Regards
    Sandeep Kumar Upadhyay

The easiest way around it would be when you first deploy one of the EPM web applications set the admin server port to something different than 7001 then it wouldn't conflict with the admin server being used for OBIEE

    Hi Satya,
You can install OBIEE 11g 64 bit with Oracle DB 32bit. I have done this many times without any issue.
