Install OEM for general users

Is it possible to give access to OEM to general users who are supposed to only view the information and be able to run any admin commands. I am looking at monitoring Oracle for high level things like tablespaces, sqls etc so that someone could watch and send alerts to us. This someone could be operator, general user(non admin).

Its always good to mention database version. Anyways, why would you want users to do it for you or send alerts to you? By any means, minimumly you need to give them (anyone) dba role to see all this kind of info which if ,can't be called giving some one a sword, surely is like giving knife, enough to kill others as well himself. If you are using 10g than all these alerts and everything are preset in it. You can use those settings and send yourself email, page when some thng goes beyond limit.

You may have to log in as the Administrator user rather than
"run as adminstrator".
Beyond that, are there really enough users on a system that
they can't install the extension(s) they need themselves?

Adobe flash wont work for general users in Citrix

I have a Citrix Xenapp 5 farm 2008 32 bit and I am trying to get Adobe flash 10 player working for general users. It works fine for admins though not when logging a citrix session as a general user (if I give that user admin rights it is fine). I have used the full edition of the installer with different versions and they all dont work for users.
I ensured that ie security was turned off for both users and computers.
gave read access to some registry enteries.
gave everyone group write access to C:\Windows\System32\Macromed.
I am using the citrix receiver.
it is not being streamed.
I excluded the group policies for the test user and still same issue.
I have tried different versions of flash and nothing has worked. I disabled the gpos for the user and still the same issue. the RSOP didn't have anything that stood out. there was nothing in the event log which gave any errors about it.
Seems to be a permissions issue somewhere.
Any ideas appreciated.

Flash install problem for multiple users

Working on an home PC trying to set up Flash. Go through
install logged in as myself (systemadmin access) and install goes
fine. Flash pages load on IE Other users on system, also Admin
access, can not get same Flash pages to load. Running WinXp. Have
tried both IE 6 and 7. Firefox is running fine for all users

During install, you should be prompted whether you want to install the loops for the current user only or for every user. In the latter case, the loops should end up in HD/Library/Audio/Apple Loops

Can only install flashplayer10 for 1 user.

I can only install the new flashplayer 10 for 1 user. I have 3 other account that are basically useless. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling,and get the pop-up bar that asks to install for all users. I select it but it only works for the user that is logged in. When I try to load it under another account I get a failed to register message. Any help would be great. I'm using winsows XP home with service pack 3.

How to install Firefox for ALL users

I need all users on my computer to have firefox. It will only install to a specific user when logged into that account. When I try to install to a second account, it uninstalls the first location.
Where is the firefox install file to install for everyone on the computer? (just like every other install program...except for this one lately.) Note: I am NOT talking about extensions, just the firefox program itself.

You have to install it only once from any account by right-clicking on the Firefox installer and '''Run as administrator'''. All the users will have their separate personal settings.

Best Practice for General User File Server HA/Failover

Hi All,
Looking for some general advice or documentation on recommend approaches to file storage. If you were in our position how would you approach adding more rubustness into our setup?
We currently run a single 2012 R2 VM with around 6TB of user files and data. We deduplicate the volume and use quota's.
We need a solution that provides better redundancy that a single VM. If that VM goes offline how do we maintain user access to the files.
We use DFS to publish file shares to users and machines.
Solutions I have researched with potential draw backs:
Create a guest VM cluster and use a Continuosly Available File Share (not SOFS)
- This would leave us without support for de-duplication. (we get around 50% savings atm and space is tight)
Create a second VM and add it as secondary DFS folder targets, configure replication between the two servers
- Is this the prefered enterprise approach to share avialability? How will hosting user shares (documents etc...) cope in a replication environment.
Note: we have run a physical clustered file server in the past with great results except for the ~5 mins downtime when failover occurs.
Any thoughts on where I should be focusing my efforts?

If you care about performance and real failover transparency then guest VM cluster is a way to go (compared to DFS of course). I don't get your point about "no deduplication". You can still use dedupe inside your VM just will have sure you "shrink" the VHDX

Installing applications for multiple users

I apologize in advance if this is a dumb question. I am a longtime Mac user, but always on a single machine with a single user account. Now I have finally convinced my wife to make the switch to Mac and we will be sharing a new Mac Mini.
My question is this. When I go to install a new application (like MS Office or iWorks), how do I install it so it is available to both users? My plan is to create an admin account and then a standard user account for my wife and for me. Would I move into the admin account to install software?

As long as you install applications into their usual location: /Applications, the Applications folder at the root level of your computer's directory, the applications should be available to all users. You can install from any account, but you will have to supply admin authentication (username, password).

Can I install Acrobat in a Windows Server 2008 for many users?

I'm looking for a solution for my enterprise to install Adobe Acrobat in Windows Server 2008 R2, where the users connect by remote desktop. I'm looking for a form for they use Acrobat by the same form they uses now Reader. But not for all, only for some of this users.
I called a responsible and he told me that I can install Acrobat for some users in Windows Server 2008 R2, but I'm not sure if that solution will be legal.
Can I buy a special license for it or I have to buy a license for each user? How can I proceed to do this, if it's possible?

Use a mozilla.cfg file in the Firefox program folder to lock prefs or specify default values.
Place a file local-settings.js in the defaults\pref folder where you also find the file channel-prefs.js to specify using mozilla.cfg.

You can install it as many times as you want. Ensure that either the cluster-wide parameter or the device-specific parameter is set to allow phone personalization. After that, if it works for you it will work in general; don't forget to enter the CCMCIP server address in the client.

Firefox won't install for all users in Windows 8.1; only installs for administrator

Since moving to Windows 8.1, I have been unable to install Firefox for multiple users on this laptop. Firefox installs only for the Administrator (me), and does not appear on any other user account. When I try installing from one of the other user accounts (after entering my administrator password), it simply won't install.

Check that Firefox isn't set to run as Administrator.
Right-click the Firefox desktop shortcut and choose "Properties".
Make sure that all items are deselected in the "Compatibility" tab of the Properties window.
* Privilege Level: "Run this program as Administrator" should not be selected
* "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" should not be selected
Also check the Properties of the firefox.exe program in the Firefox program folder (C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\).

PowerPoint add-in is not working when installed for All Users using msi installer.

Hi All,
I have created PowerPoint add-in using c#-vsto. I have created msi installer to install this add-in with following two options:
1. Just me
2. Everyone
However, add-in is not working properly (Events and custom task panes are not working).
I have created registry key as below
1. for "Everyone" : HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Office\Powerpoint\Addins\MyAdd-in
2. for Just me : HKPU\Software\Microsoft\Office\Powerpoint\Addins\MyAdd-in
But when I set InstallAllUsersVisible property to False (When add-in is installed only for current user ), then add-in works fine for current user.
Please let me know if anything is missing!!!
