If the above doesn’t do the trick entirely, then use the instructions in the following as it applies to the version of Windows you are using:
HT1925: Removing and Reinstalling iTunes for Windows XP
HT1923: Removing and reinstalling iTunes for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
You may be required to boot into safe mode to complete the folder deletion process.

When trying to launch ITunes I get an error message saying that application fail to start because MSVCR80.dll file not found. Reinstalling app may fix problem.

I've just (finally) managed to fix this problem today. I checked the Apple Support forums, and it seems a lot of people are having the same problem.
I rang the Apple Support line, and the very helpful man (thanks Alan!) talked me through it stage by stage. If you go to the following page on the internet: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS5376   it takes you through the process. WARNING - it takes a little time!
Basically, the first thing you have to do is go to your Program Files and double click on your iTunes folder. There'll be a number of files with the suffix .dll - you need to move all the .dll files from that folder to your desktop - you can simply click and drag them on the desktop..
Next, uninstall iTunes - go to Control Panel / Add/Rempve Programs and when the list comes up remove iTunes. This will take a few minutes... Then reboot your computer.
Next, go back to Control Panel / Add Remove and Remove - IN THIS ORDER -
    Apple Software Update
    Apple Mobile Device Support
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
    Reboot again!
Next, check in your Program Files that the iTunes folder is completely gone - if it has, great: if it hasn't, right-click on the folder and press Shift and Delete - it will say "Are you sure you want to completely remove the folder "iTunes"? Click on "Yes".
    Reboot!
Then go to the iTunes download page and voila! It should download iTunes without any problems... well it did for me.... Good luck!

  • ITunes wont open because I'm missing msvcr80.dll? It said to remove iTunes and install again but it wont work, HELP?

I just want my iTunes back I think I accidentally deleted msvcr80.dll? What should I do?

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
    Please note:
Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.

  • ITunes Installer Interrupted, missing MSVCR80.dll files

Hi, I hope someone can help me.
I was downloading iTunes and got the error message that iTunes couldn't download because the MSVCR80.dll files were missingand so iTunes could not install.
After trying to download repeatedly and repair I finally uninstalled iTunes and tried to re-install it.
    The message I got was:
    iTunes Installer Interrupted
Errors occured during installation before the requested operations for iTunes could be completed.
Your system has not been modified. To complete the installation, run the installer again
Click finish to exit the installer
    Help please!

  • I did the recommended re-install to resolve the missing MSVCR80.dll file. This worked, but I am now stymied by two error messages: "Apple Mobile Device failed to start" and "Apple application support not found". How to overcome?

That worked, however I now get two error messages when I install I Tunes:
o  Apple Mobile Device failed to start.
o  Apple Application Support not found.
This were of course deleted in the recommended re-install procedure to resolve the dll file, but repeated uninstalls and installs simply bring up these two error messages with a recommendation to install I Tune again. Installing the new I Tunes version seems to be problematic per the discussion groups and has no simple solution. SHould not the Genius bar be able to resolve this at an Apple Store? Want to buy a new I Phone 5S, but this problem effectively stymies this.

  • TS1717 Running Vista on old HP computer.  New version of iTunes was available to download so I did.  Now iTunes won't start and says it is missing MSVCR80.dll file.  Any helpful information on how to fix this will be appreciated.  Have uninstalled and ins

Got advised that a new version of iTunes was available for my HP PC running Vista.  Upon downloading, wouldn't launch.  Uninstalled and reinstalled.  Wouldn't launch.  Both error messages said that a file named MSVCR80.dll was missing.  Any help in correcting this problem would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks.

I also posted this question and then Googled it.  The instruction was to delete, in order iTunes, Apple Software Update, Apple Mobile Device Support, Bonjour, Apple Application Support and iCloud.   Uninstall worked for all but apple Mobile Dvice Support and i Cloud.  However, when I reloaded iTunes, it worked fine.  I hope this is helpful. • Missing MSVCR80.dll file after installing the latest itunes update

Does anyone know if Apple has posted a new download yet to rectify the problem of the missing MSVCR80dll file problem, caused by the last iTunes update? If not, what is the answer? I've tried repairing and unistalling and re-installing itunes and the old version of itunes and nothing seems to fix the problem. I don't feel inclined to spend loads of time trying to sort a problem caused a supposedly safe download, in fact should we not download the latest versions until they have had time to filter out problems like this?

    1. No.
    2. Click here and follow the instructions.

  • TS1717 missing MSVCR80.dll after iTunes update and reinstall

Running Windows 8 and did latest update for iTunes and now it wont run, tried reinstall numerous times, same result.  Missing MSVCR80.DLL file.

Click here and follow the instructions. You may need to completely remove and reinstall iTunes and all related components, or run the process multiple times; this won't normally affect its library, but that should be backed up anyway.
