Install of JDeveloper 11.1.1.2 on Apple OS X Snow Leopard cannot find JDK

Using generic installer of JDeveloper 11.1.1.2 on Apple Snow Leopard 10.6.2, the install requests the directory in which to find the JDK. The JDK is in /Library/Java/Home, the latter is an alias (soft ln) to /Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Versions/1.6.0/Home. This path contains the ./bin directory which contains the executable "java".
The installer does not recognize this path as legitimate, nor any path along that route. Installation of JDeveloper 11.1.1.1 had previously gone without a problem, and in fact, automatically detected it was running under the correct Java version.
Do you have a solution?

You need to create a link see the instructions here:

When baltwosaid NO emphatically, that was described as CORRECT ANSWER. Ditto in the caeses of the radically different answers from  Camelotand Matt Clifton
Could it be that CORRECT ANSWER needs better defining by Apple?
That apart, yes, switching might involve rebooting. About the voices, well, I was the other day adding voice to a commentary in a video I was working on. There's only American English accent in SL — Lion I believe has British ones as well.
Why not, I wondered, try to install Lion purely for academic interest, maybe with an SD card (Sandisk Ultra II, 16GB) as Tom Nelson says is possible at http://macs.about.com/od/macoperatingsystems/ss/Perform-A-Clean-Install-Of-Os-X- Lion-On-Your-Mac.htm

  • I have a late 2009 iMac. I installed OSX 10.8.4 and want to go back to Snow Leopard. I have a 1.5TB external HD. Are there any issues I need to know about or tips I need to know before doing this? Thanks.

Downgrade Lion/Mountain Lion to Snow Leopard
      1. Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer Disc. After the installer
loads select your language and click on the Continue
button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the
          Utilities menu.
      2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the
mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status
of the drive in DU's status area.  If it does not say "Verified" then
the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing.  SMART
info will not be reported  on external drives. Otherwise, click on
the Partition tab in the DU main window.
      3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions
from the drop down menu to one. Set the format type to Mac OS
Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, set the
partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Click on
the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
      4. Quit DU and return to the installer. Install Snow Leopard.
This will erase the whole drive so be sure to backup your files if you don't have a backup already. If you have performed a TM backup using Lion be aware that you cannot restore from that backup in Snow Leopard (see below.) I suggest you make a separate backup using Carbon Copy Cloner.
If you have Snow Leopard Time Machine backups made while on Snow Leopard, then you may do a full system restore per #14 in Time Machine - Frequently Asked Questions.  If you have subsequent backups from Lion, you can restore newer items selectively, via the "Star Wars" display, per #15 there, but be careful; some Snow Leopard apps may not work with the Lion/Mountain Lion files.

  • If you lost your install CD's for an iMac7,1. Can you use Snow Leopard to reboot/install?

If you lost your install CD's for an iMac7,1. Can you use Snow Leopard to reboot/install?

    Best answer; see AnaMusic above.
Will SL do? Yes, provided you use the SL retail disc. A grey disc from another Mac will not work.
    A few considerations -
Be warned that printer drivers, and scanner drivers in particular will almost certainly need updating for SL. That could be a problem if the printer or scanner is more than a couple of years old.
Many third party applications (and some Apple ones) may need updates for SL (Adobe particularly), so check with the vendors for compatability before you upgrade.
You'll need Rosetta to run PPC apps like Appleworks and many MS Office or Adobe versions. Ensure you select it from the 'optional installations' when installing SL.
Note also that any bundled applications that came with your Tiger original discs (iLife in particular) are not included on retail OS versions.

  • "Snow Leopard cannot be installed on this computer"

I have a 2008-2009 mac book pro (The kind that's all silver, no black), It's currently running 10.5.8. I have a snow leopard disk, and the computer sees it. Then when I go to start begin the installation I get "Snow Leopard cannot be installed on this computer." I want to upgrade and I don't want to just go ahead of myself and screw up my macbook, so please give me a hand some one?.
    Thanks

Just wanted to share with you 2 more reasons it might be.  Tech support was going for the hard drive set up being old.  That was one reason they wanted me to reformat.  So a few more ideas to throw in here.  You can go here and read it.

  • I can't install Mac OS X Lion, I want to go back to Snow Leopard

The problem is I am stuck in the OS X Lion Install window but when I try to install it, it asks for my Apple ID, I give it but It says I haven't bought Lion. So I gave up and decided to just go back to Snow Leopard, how do I do that?

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
Have you purchased OS X Lion? If so, check that it's not hidden in your Apple ID, so unhide it > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4928?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US Finally, you will be able to reinstall Lion.
If you want to go back to Snow Leopard, your Mac should have come with DVDs or a USB drive. If your computer came with a USB drive, just insert the USB drive, hold the Option (Alt) key while your computer is starting, choose the USB drive and reinstall Snow Leopard. You may have to erase the hard drive before installing it.
If your Mac came with DVDs, you need an external optical drive or another PC or Mac to use Remote Install Mac OS X

  • Latest EyeTV doesn't work with remote after installing latest candelair, 1.20 no option in preferences to activate snow leopard?

After upgrading to Snow Leopard my mac remote no longer works with EyeTV. Have checked EyeTV is the latest version, have also installed the latest Candelair which other users have advised needs to have snow leopard activated in the preferences but on my version there is no mention of this in the preferences pane.
    Just lists...
    Driver version 1.20 installed
The remote control infrared receiver is enabled
This computer only works with the remote with ID 27 (after I paired it)
    Issues with your remote?
    Can anyone advise?

So, I figured it out myself. Way back in time I had set up some ipfw rules that I had completely forgotten about, which included this:
01000 allow ip from 192.168.0.0/16 to me dst-port 5900 in
Since I switched to the AEBS, of course the IP range changed to 10.0.1.x, so ipfw was blocking it. Problem solved.
Now I just need to figure out why my AEBS keeps crashing..

when i installing snow leopard in my macintosh(version 10.5.8),after inserting the snow leopard os cd in the cd drive.its showing the message-->mac os x snowleopard cannot installed on this computer.please any one can help me regarding this issue.

Make sure your Mac meets Snow Leopard's requirements
Make sure there's enough free space on the startup disk.
Right or control click the MacintoshHD icon. Click Get Info. In the Get Info window you will see Capacity and Available. Make sure you always have a minimum of 15% free disk space.

No estoy seguro de si se puede ver esto en su idioma, pero primero tratar de arreglar Mac OS 10.8, porque eso es un mejor sistema operativo. Echa un vistazo a este enlace, https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3521

  • Leopard to Snow Leopard cannot install!

I get the "Mac OS X cannot be installed on this computer" error message when trying to install Snow Leopard with a CD (that originally came with another computer) on a Macbook Pro running Leopard.
I want to install Snow Leopard to ultimately jump to Mountain Lion.
    It's a mid-2009 Macbook Pro. (model 5,1) with 2 GB ram.

It's been pulled from the online store & Apple Stores, so you have to call Apple to buy it, last I heard.
Call Apple Sales...in the US: 1-800-MY-APPLE.

  • Broken Install Disk! Is there a way to replace my broken Snow Leopard install disks?

I have cracked my OS X 10.6.4 install disk, (which, it seems to mean that my iLife application disk wont work either). Is there any way to get a replacement? I don't always live near internet access, so Lion isn't really an option.

You can contact Apple customer service and request replacement disks, there is a nominal fee: http://www.apple.com/contact

  • I re-installed by OS on my MacBook Pro, the tried upgrading to Snow Leopard

Only to receive a message saying that it cannot be installed in this computer.....WTW?, I bought that CD fair and square from the A-Store
Should I even bother going into Mountain Lion?
    I am currently running: Mac OS X 10.5.8 (9L31a) with a Darwin 9.8.0 Kernel....
    Thoughts......comments....

I had a similar issue long ago. I dont remember exactly what apple explained the issue as...but I can tell you exactly what I did.
    1. Back up. I backed up my entire machine using time machine (suggest an external harddrive, but the cloud system could work (though most if not all are paid)
    2. Go to an apple store
I took my comp and install disk to them and they removed the internal drive, took it to the back, and returned with the new OS installed.
(This is abit of a pain if you have a desktop)
you could presumibly bring the drive itself but I wouldnt suggest it unless you know what your doing.
Several people at my school had a similar issue, and I'm guessing its just upgrading from 10.5 ->10.6 as thats the only time Ive ever had an issue with changing OS
