Install of Photoshop Elements onto new computer.
I downloaded Photoshop Elements on-line to my Windows 8 system. I now have an upgraded computer and want to install Elements. I do not have a backup disk. How do I do it?
If you got your original download from Adobe, it may still be available. Simply click the red logo top left on this forum page. Then go to My Adobe, log-in with your ID and explore your purchase history. There is no need to uninstall your existing software as you are permitted two activations.
Otherwise if you kept a copy of the original download package or zip folder you may be able to copy it to a thumb drive or external hard drive and then double click the setup file to start installation on your new machine.

I purchased Photoshop Elements 12 in October 2013. I have a new computer and have recycled the old one. How do I download the program onto my new computer? I have the serial number, but can't figure out what to do next. Should I have uninstalled the program from my old computer first?
Please use the below link to download Photoshop elements 12 application .

I downloaded the zip file for the 6.7 update and unzipped it. I double clicked on the .exe file and it would not install. What do I need to get the update installed?
Is this the 6.7 camera raw updater you tried?
It's specifically for pse 10 on windows.

I have the serial number but cannot see how to download it. please can you help?
Hi Shaun,
Elements 6 is a legacy product and the download is not available on Adobe's website.
Also check the configuration of your new machine, Elements 6 might not be compatible with that.

Load old Photoshop CS onto new computer without updating?
How do I load old Photoshop CS onto new computer without updating?
Adobe closed down the CS2 (and earlier versions) activation server a couple of years ago.
Download a new non-activation copy of CS2 from Error: Activation Server Unavailable | CS2, Acrobat 7, Audition 3
Install then enter the new serial number given at that link. Your existing serial number will no longer work. -

How to re-install Adobe Photoshop in my new computer?
Install it the same way you originally installed it. If you need to download the installations files or get your serial number you should check your Adobe account online.
You can also find a good amount of Adobe files downloadable thru the following page...

Installing Adobe Photoshop Elements Causes My Computer to Cut Out on Booting UP!
I have installed Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 on my new computer running windows 7 64 bit. I did not appreciate the problems. The first time that I installed it the computer shut down as soon as it was loaded and from then onwards it shut down within seconds of the computer booting up into windows. I used system restore to take the computer back to before Elements 10 was installed. The computer kept on switching off after windows had booted up. Took it into the technician who thought the PSU was at fault and he put in a new unit. The computer then worked fine until I installed Elements 10 and again the computer switches off as soon as windows as booted up. I have again used system restore to take the computer back to before Elements 10 was installed, still it switches off shortly after booting into windows. What can I do to get things to work properly? I have a brand new computer that I am unable to use as a result of installing Elements 10. I am typing this on my old computer running Vista 34 bit with Elements 10 installed and all working well. Any help or advice would be appreciated.
I have had a similar experience - Elements organizer crashed and even when not running, my computer froze after a few minutes. My PC had never crashed before this installation.
I found a solution though...
After a little sleuthing using task manager, I found that all the memory in my system (4GB) gets suddenly hogged (within seconds) by the "Elements Organizer" process (3GB) ... I found the service correspponding to this process, "Adobe Active File Monitor v10", stopped it and set autostart to manual. My PC no longer crashes.
I think Adobe needs to look into this one - it has all the hallmarks of a nasty memory leak.
A couple of possible clues as to why certain systems don't take well to this service:
- I have a few very large video clips (2hours+) on my PC
- I installed trial products like light room, CS5 before settling on Photoshop+Premiere Elements - could leftovers after uninstalling cause conflicts?
- I have other video editors on my system that I don't use, like Corel VideoStudio and Sony Vegas.
Thoughts? -
Basically I got the student version of Adobe Creative Suite 5 back in high school. I'm now in college (still a student!) but I used my high school email to register the product. I deactivated the adobe photoshop in the old computer and have the serial number, but because my old high school already deleted my school email, I can't access my adobe ID anymore (I forgot it). I can't install Photoshop into my new computer without my Adobe ID. What should I do??
Hi,
Thanks for the reply. However, I'm really, really frustrated. The link works for the recommended program but it has a transfer limit of 100 files. I've spent literally hours trying to find genuine freeware to do the job rather than paying $25 for a one-off program that I'll never use again. Is there are any reliable freeware out there that does the job? To be honest money is very tight at the moment and spending $25 for a program I'll never use again is something I could do without! -
Re installed photoshop CS5 onto new computer & now plug ins won't work?
I recently bought a new computer & re-installed photoshop CS5.1 successfully, but can't get the plug ins to work (phototools 2.5 & perfect effects 3, which were a free download with purchase). I am running windows 7 64bit. I copied & pasted them into the plug ins folder (in both applications of photoshop - there is the 32 bit version on 'program files (x86)' & the 64 bit version in 'program files'), but neither will work.
You probably won't get those plugins to work by just copying them.
I'd remove the plugins that you copied and pasted and use the phototools 2.5 & perfect effects 3 plugin installers, as they probably install some other files besides just the plugin itself. -
How to move to Photoshop Elements and new computer
Hi, I've been using Photoshop Elements for several years, but am new to the forum. I recently got a new Windows 7 computer and moved all my files, including photos, using a Windows 7 migration cable. I was using Photoshop Elements 6 on my old Windows XP computer and want to upgrade to Photoshop Elements 8 on the new computer. How do I get my catalog into PE8? Based on what I'm seeing in the posts on this forum, I'm thinking that I've gone about this the wrong way. It looks like maybe I should delete my photo files from the new computer, then install PE8 on the old computer, do a backup in PE8, and restore the backup on the new computer in PE8. Does this make sense, or can someone suggest a better way to do this? Thanks for your help.
I should delete my photo files from the new computer, then install PE8 on the old computer, do a backup in PE8, and restore the backup on the new computer in PE8.
That is definitely the most reliable method. You're changing three things at once: new computer, new version of Windows, new version of PSE. The catalog conversion process (upgrading to a new version of PSE) and backup/restore are both fairly buggy, so it's wise to do one step at a time to make troubleshooting and workarounds much easier. It's also better to use the most recent (less buggy) PSE 8 to make the backup, rather than PSE 6.
People are tempted to take a shortcut on this and try to use PSE 8 on the new computer from a PSE 6 backup. That will often work, but when it doesn't, they then waste a lot more time trying to make it work. As the Car Talk Guys used to say, "It's the cheapskate who pays the most."
See this FAQ for tips on converting from PSE 6 to 8:

Need to transfer photoshop elements to new computer; how?
I have purchased a new laptop and need to transfer my Adobe PhotoShop Elements to my new computer. How can I do that I have the disk.
Just install it on the new machine and use the serial number to activate it. You are allowed to have two activated installations, so if you want to you can leave it on the old machine as a backup. If you want to removce it or otherwise disable it on the old machine then open it and choose Help -> Deactivate.

Activating Photoshop elements on new computer
I could not deactivate my Photoshop Elements 8 from my old computer because it crashed now I have been given 30 days to activate Elements 8 on my new computer, how do I do this?
You should be able to activate Elements on two computers. What happens if you try to activate the new install with your existing serial number? If this is the 3rd install and activation for your Elements, then contact Adobe via Chat and after asking some questions to make sure you’re not a hacker, they should be able to deactivate the copy that was on the non-working computer, to free up that activation for a new install.

Activation Photoshop Elements on new computer
I had to replace my old computer on which Adobe Photoshop Elements was installed. The HD (and entire old computer) is not available anymore and therefore, I cannot deactivate the software on this old computer and thus the activation of the very same, absolutely legally purchased, software fails.
I have at hands the serial number. What can I do?
Thanks for your help/assistance.You will need to contact adobe activation:

If you go to the link on that page during regular business hours you can usually start a chat session and get it straightened out right then.
