Install old Plugins?

Hi!
I am wondering if it is possible to install plugins from previous versions of garageband into the newer versions of Garageband?
I got to love the multiband compressor that came with Garagband 3, but am not a fan of the compressor in GB5.
Is there any way to install the old style into GB5?
..and is the old AUmultiband compressor available for download anywhere?
Many thanks

No - since it's the old plugin and GB only put a new graphical interface on it, you can only get it back by going back to an older GB version.
(And even that might not be true - I just opened an old GB version, put the MultiBandCompressor on a fee slot and got the same new interface. Personally, I like the new graphic version better, the old one only had numbers that you cold enter, right?)

  • Installing Old Plug-ins into CS5

    Is it possible to install old plug-ins (plugins) into Adobe Photoshop CS5?
    I have tried a couple of my old plug-ins and could not get any to show up under the Filters menu.
    I installed to:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS5\Plug-ins
    I tried installing Noise Ninja 2.3.2.
    I tried installing Kodak GEM AIR Pro.
    I tried installing Phototune SkinTun.
    No luck with any of them.
    I also tried installing a couple to
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS5 (64 Bit)\Plug-ins\Filters

    No one is likely to have a FIX, per se.
    32 bit plug-ins only work with 32 bit Photoshop, while only 64 bit plug-ins work with 64 bit Photoshop.  I suspect the 32/64 bit mismatch may be at the root of the problem you're seeing, Hawaii-geek.
    Plug-ins generally need to be installed in the new version of Photoshop.
    For 32 bit plugins, maybe, just MAYBE, for an individual plugin you can find a way to copy the proper file(s) so that Photoshop CS5 will find them under its OWN Plug-ins subfolder.  Photoshop enumerates plugins it finds there when it first starts.  But this is not a given as a plug-in may set up things other than just the files when it is installed.
    The one thing to remember is that you ABSOLUTELY MUST NOT point the "Extra Plug-ins Folder" at the Plug-ins folder of an old Photoshop installation.  Doing so will mix plugins supplied with the older Photoshop version with your new Photoshop version, and this WILL cause you problems.
    HangtownGal is using that feature right.  For simple one-file plugins, you should be able to point every version of Photoshop to a common separate plug-ins folder, but keep in mind the 32 vs. 64 bit issue I mentioned above.  As Chris states, 32 bit Photoshop will only load 32 bit plug-ins, and 64 bit Photoshop will only load 64 bit plug-ins (which are reasonably rare still).  And keep in mind more complex plugins often are sets of files that are sometimes copied to a number of different places in the Photoshop installation area.
    Why is it you think someone else needs to FIX this problem?
    Did you not keep the installation package and/or instructions you got with your old plugins?  For those that cannot be installed into a Photoshop version that didn't even exist when they were released, have you checked to see if there are updates available from the plugin manufacturers?  You may very well have to pay to upgrade these.  You paid to upgrade Photoshop, so is that a problem?

  • Cannot install Adobe update: no yellow bar, no "Install missing plugins"

    Following advice in FAQs I went to Adobes test page: no yellow bar appeared, nor a box "Install missing plugins". Trying to install Adobe Flash 10 leads to a message to close down Firefox.

    Old instructions, that "yellow bar" was used on older versions of Firefox.
    1.Download the Flash setup file from here: <br />
    [http://fpdownload.adobe.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player.exe Adobe Flash - Plugin version]. <br />
    Save it to your Desktop.<br />
    2. Close Firefox using File > Exit <br />
    then check the Task Manager > Processes tab to make sure '''firefox.exe''' is closed, <br />
    {XP: Ctrl+Alt+Del, Vista: Shift+Ctrl+ESC = Processes tab}
    3. Then run the Flash setup file from your Desktop.

  • My "Old" plugins

    If I buy the new Logic Pro X, will my old plugins in Logic Pro 9 automaticly show up there? (Superior Drummer, Stylus RMX, Battery etc....)
    I have Logic Pro 9 installed on the machine...!

    They will if they are 64 bit plugins.  And the ones you listed have 64 bit versions available.

  • How to install a plugin on 64 bits windows 2008 server?

    From the developer forum, I found a description which told me how to install a plugin on windows series system, but I only succeded intalling the plugin on 32 bits windows xp, couldn't install the plugin on 64 bits windows 2008 server. Any ideas or advices, men of genius? Thanks :-)

    Please check if all your plugins are up-to-date. To do this, go to the [http://mozilla.com/plugincheck Mozilla Plugin Check site].
    Once you're there, the site will check if all your plugins have the latest versions.
    If you see plugins in the list that have a yellow ''Update'' button or a red ''Update now'' button, please update these immediately.
    To do so, please click each red or yellow button. Then you should see a site that allows you to download the latest version. Double-click the downloaded file to start the installation and follow the steps mentioned in the installation procedure.

  • I am trying to download Adobe reader latest version and when I hit download a bar appears at the top of the screen telling me to install missing plugins but firefox states plugins up to date what can I do?

    I am unable to download Adobe reader to update my system as I only have version 7 on my computer. Normally I would be able to download direct from Adobe and my system would update but when I try to download a message bar appears which states on the left hand side "additional plugins are required to display all the media on this page" and on the right hand side there is a button which states "install missing plugins". When I click on the button a dialog box appears which states "no suitable plugins where found with a message next to a manual install button "unknown plugin(application/getplusplusadobe16299)

    You can try using this tool to first remove all traces of Reader from your computer:
    http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html
    Then, you can download the full offline Reader installer from
    http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/
    After downloading, restart your computer and run the installer before doing anything else.

  • Google talk video plugin does not work any more with Firefox 4. When clicking on the video chat icon, I am repeatedly asked to install the plugin, and it never works.

    Google talk audio/video plugin used to work fine on Firefox 3, but does not work anymore on Firefox 4. Every time I click on the video chat icon on google talk, I am asked to install the plugin, even if I have already installed it before. The plugin works properly on the latest version of IE on the same PC.
    Thanks for your help. I do not want to switch to Chrome or Opera, but if this bug is not fixed, I will have to.

    Not sure if installing IE 9 did it or not but I now see the camera in IE, FF and Chrome. Could be Facebook fixed the problem also.
    Thanks for the reply.

  • Security question: When installing a Plugin from a website why will you not allow me to research it to see if it is a virus?

    I don't like to install Plugins without doing some research on them first. http://news.sky.com/home/sky-live-tv wants to install a plugin. Have they been hacked? How do I know what I am installing? Facebook wants to install a plugin after their latest update, will it crash Firefox. Give me some insight on plugin/status bar that Asks "Install Missing Plugin" with some information about the creator and the name of the plugin.

    That's a good idea.
    Incidentally, that page uses the Windows Media Player plugin, at least when I visit it.

  • Install old iLife from 10.3 disks onto iBook w/ a clean install of Tiger?

    My ibook originally came with Panther 10.3. iLife was included on the install disks.
    A few months ago, I did a clean install of Tiger. I then tried to reinstall iLife from the Panther 10.3 disks. However, only Garageband and iDVD show up ---iPhoto and iMovie don't show up at all. I've searched for these programs, but they are not installed.
    I spoke to an apple rep and he said that I should NEVER install old programs from a Panther disk onto a clean install of Tiger. However, the guy did not seem confident in what he told me. He said my mac should be very unstable and that I shouldn't even be able to use Garageband....but I have had no problems with my mac or using Garageband for the past 4 months.
    Is he correct? And if so, should I do a clean install of Panther, and then upgrade to Tiger? I wonder if this will correctly install the whole iLife suite?

  • Intranet install of plugin 1.4.0_01 failing on Win2000 in IE6.0

    When I modify the HTMLConverter output to do the plugin install from an intranet host the installation appears to run to completion (the InstallShield dialogs appear and the install status bar goes to 100%), but the applet does not run. The gray applet placeholder disappears and nothing happens, as if the user pressed No in the initial Security Warning dialog. The web server access log shows no requests after the plugin exe.
    After the install, the plugin control panel is installed and works, and the Web Start icon appears on the desktop, but the plugin is not available to applets. If the browser is restarted and the HTML page containing the applet is loaded again, the browser starts the plugin installation again.
    Downloading the plugin from Sun using the unmodified HTMLConverter output works perfectly. Downloading the exe file from my intranet host and manually running it also works. After the plugin is installed either of these ways, the browser no longer initiates an installation and the applet runs as expected.
    My environment is Windows 2000 SP2, IE 6.0, Apache 1.3.26. In the HTML file I changed the codebase line from:
    classid = "clsid:CAFEEFAC-0014-0000-0000-ABCDEFFEDCBA"
    codebase = "http://java.sun.com/products/plugin/autodl/jinstall-1_4_0-win.cab#Version=1,4,0,0"
    to:
    classid = "clsid:CAFEEFAC-0014-0000-0000-ABCDEFFEDCBA"
    codebase = "http://myhost/j2re-1_4_0_01-windows-i586.exe#Version=1,4,0,0"
    Any ideas about what I've done wrong or what I can try?
    Thanks,
    -dh

    Found the problem. The HTMLConverter specifies 1.4.0 in the HTML and I chose the 'Use only Java 1.4.0' option, but then I used the latest (1.4.0_01) plugin exe. It works when I change:
    classid = "clsid:CAFEEFAC-0014-0000-0000-ABCDEFFEDCBA"
    codebase = "http://myhost/j2re-1_4_0_01-windows-i586.exe#Version=1,4,0,0"
    to specify the right version:
    classid="clsid:CAFEEFAC-0014-0000-0001-ABCDEFFEDCBA"
    codebase="http://p4s1800n1/j2re-1_4_0_01-windows-i586.exe#Version=1,4,0,1"
    It would be nice if the install provided a better error indication...

  • Os 10.4.6/logic 7.2 pro user - trouble installing Waves plugins

    on trying to install waves plugins i fall at the first hurdle - actually installing the files to the machine!

    I had problem with certain waves plugins when upgading from 10.4.5 to 10.4.6, although not the same as you described.
    Anyway there is a thread over at the waves forum which advises against doing the update path i had chosen from the software update. I dont know if this is what you done?
    You need to reinstall the combo update 10.4.0 to 10.4.6 over the existing one.
    Heres the thread:

  • Can not install a plugin in CS4

    hi there
    i tried to install three plugins on my cs 4 (using x64 SEVEN OS), it finished installing but there were no sign of that plugin in filter menu ...
    i tried "Imagenomic Portraiture Plugin v10.1008" but there were same reslut ...
    the point is that i can not install any plugin on my CS 4 ...
    i also tried opening cs4 32 bit in my x64 OS but there same result too ...
    its making me crazy ...
    please help ..

    Some plug-ins are found under FILTERS, some under IMPORT-EXPORT, some under scripts, possible some under ACTIONS, etc. Have you checked in these odd places as well?
    Another possibility is that it is installing under an earlier version of Photoshop if you have one installed.
    That excludes the possibility you are dual booting Win-7 and it is, for some reason, installing on the wrong partition.

  • Installing old Photoshop Elements on a new computer

    I have an old version of Photoshop Elements and a new MAC. It was previously installed on my PC which crashed. But the new MAC won't let me install this software - it tells me there is an error with the install.

    OK... so this is an OLD version - it is 4.0 (2006). My MAC is running OS X Version 10.8.2. The installation begins and some of the files begin installing then it quits and the message reads: "The installer encountered an error that caused the installation to fail. Contact the software manufacturer for assistance."
    Thanks
