Install on a drive other than C, E or G.

Install CS6 on a drive other than C.  Drive E or G.

You can install Adobe apps on any drive you choose during install. Just be aware that no matter what some components will always be installed on the system root drive.

  • How can I install to a drive other than C?

I installed the CS6 Master Collection trial version. During the installation, I specified a destination folder on my D: drive (C: is a small SSD drive meant to hold only Windows).
For the 32-bit versions of the programs, the shortcuts created in the Start Menu point to the D: location I specified during installation, but clicking on them gets me a "file not found" error, because the actual programs were placed on the C: drive. They work if I copy the installed Adobe folder and its full contents over to the appropriate D: location.
The 64-bit versions are a different mess: Unlike with the 32-bit versions, the installer placed the 64-bit versions of the programs in the specified D: drive folder, but when I attempt to start the programs, I get the "Configuration Error: Please uninstall and reinstall the program; Error: 1" message. Presumably this is because some of the configuration files or settings the programs are looking for are actually pointing to locations on the C: drive, where the installer put them despite my directions. But I have no idea which files or settings they are, or how to find them.
How can I fix these configuration errors and get the 64-bit versions working?
If anyone from Adobe sees this, can you please fix the installer so that it installs the ENTIRE package where I specified, and that all the various pieces installed know where the rest of the pieces are in a non-C drive installation?
    My system:
    Windows 7 SP1
    Intel Core i7, 8GB RAM
C drive: 60GB SSD (Windows system files)
D drive: 1TB HDD (All other programs and files, including my Windows User folders)

Yes, I have redirected my User folder to the D: drive.
I know that some shared components must reside on the C: drive; that's fine. I just don't have room for the entire installation on there.
The real issue here is that, when a drive other than C: is selected as the destination, the CS6 package installs into a broken state every time, out of the gate, on my system. Some components get installed to D: and some to C:, but the various components of the programs seem confused about what exists where, as shown below:
I select a folder on D: as the destination folder for the install, and here is what I get:
64-bit versions of the package -- Program files are installed to the D: drive as specified, but attempting to start them results in a configuration error message stating that the program must be uninstalled and reinstalled, and lists "Error code: 1".
32-bit versions of the package -- Program files are installed to the C: drive against what I specified. The shortcuts installed in the Start menu for the 32-bit versions point to the locations where these program files SHOULD be, on the D: drive. If the Adobe folder containing the program files is copied over to the correct location on D:, these programs function normally with no errors.
I have the 32-bit versions working by copying the program files from C: to D:. I just want to get the 64-bit versions working as well.
Any help you could give would be greatly appreciated; I'm really looking forward to testing the CS6 suite on my system!

  • I need to uninstall iTunes and re install on a drive other than c:

Current install is on an older pc with a 30gb c: drive.  itunes is sucking the life out of that drive by filling it with not just music, but ipad backups as well.  Is there any way to delete and reinstall itunes so that not only is the media library stored on e:, but also all of the USER\APPLICATION DATA folder stuff that normally goes on c:, no matter what?  I've tried looking at the itunes options and stuff, and I've already moved my personal musuc library to e:, but every download and app update still goes to c:, as well as those pesky ipad backup files.

Both applications do not support a custom installation location.  You will need to have sufficient disk space on your primary drive to install the applications.

  • How do I get PS CC to install on a drive other than C:\ ?

I want it on an SSD. Same for LR and Bridge CC.

Both applications do not support a custom installation location.  You will need to have sufficient disk space on your primary drive to install the applications.

  • How do I install on a drive other than C

The download manager does not give me an option to install the programs it just installs on the c drive which on my computer is nearly full
so the install is aborted.  How can I get the programs to install on my drive D.

    Hi,
    Try the following:
    1) Open Adobe Application Manager thogh shortcut on desktop or start menu on win and Alias under /Applications on mac. Now follow these steps:
    2) On the top left hand corner of Adobe Application Manager, your name would be there with a down arrow tip. Click on it.
    3) In the drop down menu, click on preferences.
    3) In the Install Location, click on folder icon next to it.
    4) Choose a folder in D: (Installing directly to root drive is not supported.)
Also, Please note that you still need ~ 1.5 GB hard disk space on the C: for shared components that always go on the boot drive.

  • Installing iTunes on drive other than C:\

    Hi,
I don't have a C:\ drive on my computer. I have F:\ for the operating system and H:\ for all my applications. I have no space on F:\ to install software so have to install on H:\.
iTunes won't let me install anywhere but on C:\. Your software should allow the user to choose where it can be installed and run. Even very basic programs allow you to choose which drive to install to.
I have an Ipod Nano but can't use it because iTunes won't install on my computer. I've had to install WinAmp instead, but I shouldn't have to use a third party software to be able to manage music on my iPod. Many of the features in iTunes are not available on WinAmp.
I think Apple's software developers have to fix this problem. I'm pleased with the iPod but think iTunes ***** because I can't even install or use it. 10 points for a great product but minus 1 billion points for sucky programming in iTunes.

    Hi, Lizsp.
It's much better for all concerned if you leave the iTunes program on the C: drive.
You can change the location of the files that make up your iTunes Library if you want though. And it is those files that most likely take up far more space than the program itself.
Have a look at this article in the Apple Knowledge Base.

  • PC suite: install/backup to drive other than C

    Hello,
    PC Suite 6.85
    Windows XP SP 2
    USB Cable
    My question(s):
    - Is it possible to install the Pc Suite softwares to a drive different from my C:\ drive? I have hardly any space left on C:\, but gigs and gigs free on D:\.
    - Assuming the answer to the above question is "no", how can i backup my phone data to a folder on my D:\ drive. Note that i mean a **full** backup of phone and memory card using the "Content Copier" tool in the PC Suite, **not** the usb data transfer which is limited to phone's E:\ drive.
    Regards,
    /t

This is my problem too, using the Backup Feature from PC Suite.
    Did anyone solved this problem?
    Thank You.

  • Installing IDES on drive other than C:

We are trying to install MSA Workgroup server and installed SQL on C: drive but with the database location as D: drive
During installation, IDES was not loaded and switchdb would not manually copy it afterwards because it looks to C: by default
Has anyone else come across a solution to this? We have insufficent disk space on C to have a large DB
    Thanks
    James

From SP07 onwards (maybe its fixed in later revs) you have to leave ides in the default location (same for ars_db on the repository) or the the SAP client installer fails as described. Used to work OK on SP05. I've moved several db's with the detach/attach method later OK.

  • Can the creative cloud apps be installed on a drive other than the boot drive?

I have an SSD for the boot drive and keep most apps on an 'applications' drive. It appears that CC apps install by default to the boot drive. Am I incorrect? Can I control what drive they install on?

Yes you can change the install location:
    Launch the Adobe Application Manager.
Click on your name in the top left and from the context menu choose Preferences.
Change the Install Location to the one you want.

  • How to install ovi suite to a drive other than C:?...

how to install ovi suite to a drive other than c:??? my c: drive is almost full with other partitions perfectly free to install it, how do i do that? can i use previous versions of ovi suite to use with my e63? at this point, i'm unable to use ovi suite at all, because there's no room to install it on my c: drive.
allllllllso there's one more thing, when i originally had tried installing ovi suite on my computer i had more than 1gb free. after installing it i on'ly had 500mb free. i had only intended for it to use a very small amount of space, and since i also use my c: drive for virtual memory i quickly uninstalled it, looking for an option i'd maybe skipped over while installing it the first time. no luck. anyways, when i looked in the add/remove programs control panel the installed size of ovi suite was only 40-50mb. even after uninstalling ovi suite the extra memory space that seemed to all of a sudden taken up by the installation stayed used.
when looking at the file sizes of everything on my hard drive, (including system files and paging file) there is still a descreprency between the amount of memory used and the size of all files total on the drive. at this point im quite disgusted and disapointed in ovi suite as i'm mostly unable to use it to connect my phone to my computer and i'm also having problems with the CA101 cable as well. i guess i'll have to go check for another cable.
nokia!!! wake up and fix yo **bleep**!!!!
anyone have any solutions for the main problem? (installing to a drive other than c? is there support for this option in any of the new beta versions? can that be included in the newest betas? i'm suuuuuure i'm not the only one begging for this option!!!

Hi ostrenga4, sorry to hear about your experiences.
When installing Nokia Ovi Suite to PC, Windows makes "system restoration points", which are available to restore operating system to previous condition, if something goes wrong, for example in driver installation.
You can change install location of Nokia Ovi Suite with following:
    - Download Nokia Ovi Suite install package from Nokia Ovi Suite pages
    - Start Windows Command prompt
    - From Command prompt, navigate to folder containing Nokia Ovi Suite install package, which you downloaded
    - Start Nokia Ovi Suite install package with command line "Nokia_Ovi_Suite_webinstaller.exe /TARGET="D:\TestDir\Test"
    - This results, that Nokia Ovi Suite installer creates folder D:\TestDir\Test (if that doesn't exist) and installs Nokia Ovi Suite there.
    - Unfortunately, Windows Installer still keeps installer cache files and system restoration points in C: drive (or whatever your system drive is)
As you can see, this is possible, but it is very much recommend to have enough space for installing software into system drive.
    Cheers, Samuli

  • How do i install itunes on another drive other than c

I would like to install itunes on a drive other than c drive in a fresh install to keep it free from my operating system.Itunes is not currently installed on my computer, so i dont need to transfer anything or move anything and i dont want to put itunes on a external hard drive as i just simply want to do a fresh install on a drive other than c drive. Can itunes accomodate me in this simple task.

Install it normally, launch it with the Shift key held down, and create a new library on the desired drive. The iTunes application contains system components and therefore must be installed on the drive or partition containing the OS.

  • Install PC Suite 7.0.8.2 to drive other than C

I am trying to install PC Suite 7.0.8.2 to my D: drive, but there is no choice given in the installation. Is it possible to install to a drive other than the C drive? I have little space left on the C drive.

    Hi ze2red_ics
There have been other reports of a couple of .dll being loaded too early on Vista which then claims they are missing.
It is always helpful to record them if you get a chance. That said although you appear to have made every effort to remove everything Nokia from your Lenovo laptop, did that include clearing up registry or not?
Happy to have helped forum in a small way with a Support Ratio = 37.0

  • Install Adobe CC apps on a drive other than C?

Can I install CC apps on a drive other than C? If so, how?

    It does indeed:
I haven't tried it either, in fact I've always heard that the smart thing is to install in the default location. But the option is there. Keep in mind that a lot of stuff will go to the user folder on the C drive in any case, so you can't keep it entirely off C.
Normally I'd ask "why?" - but SSDs have brought back space restrictions, at least for a while. I'm getting a little worried for my 240 GB system/apps SSD, which is very nearly full pretty soon.

  • Installing Reader 10.1 to a drive OTHER THAN 'C' drive

Hi. Can anyone provide guidance on how to install Adobe Reader 10.1 to a hard drive other than the C drive?
At no point during the installation process is the user given the option to select a drive letter. I need space on my C drive and want to install this rather sizeable utility on my E drive.
My O/S is XP Pro 2002 (SP 3)
    Thanks,
    SD

I assume you are downloading the Reader using the download manager, aren't you.
Just download the EXE or the MSI installer from ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/10.x/10.1.0/ and execute e.g. either of the following files:
    AdbeRdr1010_en_US.exe
    AdbeRdr1010_en_US.msi
Then you should be able to change the destination folder...
