Install on g4 laptop need some help please

I have a G4 laptop but my DVD player does not work I just put in a new harddrive so I need to install a OS so any ideas on how to her this installed. I have a g5 tower and an extrnal hard drive. I really don't want to spend the money for an external DVD. Can I plug the laptap n the g5 and use the DVD player from that computer or can I put the install on the extaral hard drive and install from there?

Start the G4 with the T key down, until it has a firewire symbol on the screen. Connect the G5 and laptop with a firewire cable (Have the G5 started). Put the Install disk in the G5, and hit the "Install" button, or restart it, and hold down the C key. You can now choose to install ono the G4.
Note: You will hear people tell you about a conflict of using a G5 to install on a G4. It is nonsense, and speculation. They have no proof. I have done this type of thing so many times I cannot tell you, and never had any trouble.
Also, replacing the DVD internally is really cheap, and easy, if you already replaced the HD.

Although vlc mentioned above is a much more powerful and better player you could try installing Perian if you insist on using the quicktime player. It may supply the codec it needs.
Not sure why you wouldn't be able to play straight avi files though in quicktime.

I got my artwork and saved it to my Desktop
Opened up Microsoft Paint and clicked on "File" and "Open" and found it to get it on the screen to resize it
Clicked "resize" and a box for changing it opened up
Checked the box "Pixels" and "Unchecked maintain aspect ratio"
Set Horizontal for 640 and Vertical for 480
Clicked on "OK" and went back to "File" and did a "Save As" and chose JPEG Picture
It came up "File Already Existed" and clicked "OK" (really did not care about the original artwork I found because wrong size)
Went to iTunes and on the movie right clicked on "Get Info", clicked on "Details", then "Artwork"
Go to the little box on the top left that shows your old artwork and click on it to get the little blue border to appear around it and hit "Delete" to make it gone
Click on "Add Artwork" and find it where you put the one from above on your Desktop and hit "Open" and OK and your new artwork is now there and all good.
Sounds like a lot of steps to follow but after around 5 or so you will fly through it. This worked perfect on my iPhone 6 Plus and I have artwork on my Home Videos now.

2100 WLC 1130 APs - need some help please

It's been about 5 years since I took my CCNA course and could use some help on a wireless set up for church.
We have a Catalyst 3550 that is running fine, just a few VLANs, including 30 for public wireless. I've then got a 2100 WLC and (3) 1130 AP's. After much head banging, I've got the WLC set up correctly (i believe)
VLAN 30 is a 10.0.3.x segment
switch is 10.0.3.1
WLC mgmt interface is 10.0.3.20 - connected to the switch on port 1
WLC ap mgmt interface is 10.0.3.21
APs pull 10.0.3.30, 31,32. - they are plugged directly into the switch
I can obviously see the APs while in the WLC GUI.
The AP's SSID don't show up wirelessly. The AP's circle is red/orange
The detail on the AP in the WLC shows them operationally down.
What additional information can I provide?

Really really need some help please.

lost all my audio. nothing plays anymore. cant even hear the trash empty any more. no itunes, nothing. no dvd audio. also noticed itunes wont play songs anymore, progress bar just sits there. also movies on youtube dont play anymore. when i try to turn up audio i get a zero symbol with a slash thru it. im stumped. help please. thanks

Whatever has happened, I've assumed it just happened and is systemic.
To start: Go to Applications/Utilities and run Disk Utility, select your startup drive, and click on the Repair Permissions button at the bottom of the window.
If that works, you're done, if not, pull out your Tiger startup DVD, insert it, select the Installer, and Restart your Mac from the DVD. When you get to the installer screen, go to the menus at the top of the screen and select Disk Utility, and this time click on the Repair Disk button. This will check your file system integrity and repair it.
When you've done that, post back.
If those don't work, you may need to do an Archive & Install, from this same DVD. This will preserve your accounts/apps/data, but will require you to repeatedly run Software Update to bring everything current again.

Ok, the short of it.... I started training on Database programming about 2 weeks ago. I still don't really know a thing, or even understand the concepts. Now, my boss wants me to fix a bug in Oracle, and I haven't a clue. The ONLY help I've gotten was a link to this forum, and a speech about how I need to help myself. I told him I have the same chance of fixing anything, as monkeys typing hamlet. Anyone up for a challenge?
When I go to Application System, then Application Entry and enter the password a dialog box appears.... "FRM-40039: Cannot attatch library Empower while opening from APPUSRAPP."
That's what I have to fix. I have no clue. I don't even really know how to click around in this program. Please help, someone.
UPDATE: I've been told that everyone's pretty much going to be a jerk to me for asking this, and I'm currently searching old threads and can't find a way to delete this one I posted. I have a line (a little white line) down the screen on my satellite laptop. It appear a little while after installing 2gs of memory. Could someone explain to me what could have cause it and if it is covered by my extended warrenty. I also wants to know if it is covered by the warrenty if Toshiba allows me to take it to a local repair shop that is not their as i am in the caribbean and none of their repair centres are close to my island.

Indesign Windows 7 Epson 7880 - I need some help please

My PC crashed last month and I have just installed Windows7 64bit - then installed updated drives for my Epson 7880 - I now find I cannot print anything longer than 1.2m. These are indesign files that I have printed in the past with no problems. I decided that there may have been some incompatability with CS3 and have downloaded a trial of CS5 and have the same result. In the preview the bottom half of the image is missing - the printable area displays as the correct size but the image is missing for anything over 1.2m. The whole image does not preview or print.....have tried everything I can think of but can't see what might be causing this...have also tried setting the print up from photoshop with the same result.....any idea greatfully received

I have been back thru everything to be sure what is actually happening - all long images (over approx 1.2m) print Ok out of photoshop from both my laptop (XP Prof) & the new Window7 64 PC but the long prints only print from InDesign CS3 on my laptop I can't get them to print from either CS3 or CS5 from the new PC. The preview in Indesign looks fine on CS5 but when it goes to the Epson 7880 preview the bottom section of the print is missing - printable area is fine but the bottom part is blank.....
I can get away with printing single images out of PH but its the long multi image setups that I use Indesign for.....any ideas?

My first java programming - Need some help please!!!

I have to create a simple java program which i am not good at i am ok in C but my java is quite bad. The program need to define a class called Student and with a string called StudentNAme, a integer StudentID(key), An array of 8 integers called Marks that holds the students marks for 8 modules. It also says Include appropriate accessors, mutators and constructor(s) as well as a method to update the student�s marks. Anybody please help me in this question. I prefer an simple example of this program so I can learn faster, I dont even know how to declare a class.. So sorry but please help me out and thanks in advance

This will help you get a working program much faster.But please do also tell them that if they have troubles using it, they're supposed to read the IDE manual instead of posting here.

The thing is that i have absolutely no idea which password is that i have to put! So now my system preferences is locked! If i want to make changes i have to unlock it! No, it's quite easy to do. If you're running Lion or Mountain Lion, that is. You don't mention which version of OS X you're running. If using Lion or Mountain Lion, simply reboot and hold down the Command and R keys at startup. This will take you to your Recovery Partition.
From the Utilities menu, select Terminal and type
resetpassword
A small app will open allowing you to reset the password for any user that you choose. Type in the password twice and remember to give yourself a 'hint'.
You need an admin password to do just about anything. Maybe write it down somewhere so you won't forget it.

Ok, I have my logic pro studio, version 8.0.2. and I have a duet pedal. Now, I have my piano hooked up through the duet pedal, and then going via fire wire to my mac for recording. I opened up Logic Pro, and selected empty Midi Project to record.. it shows a piano in Logic, and says "record ready" yet when i hit record I get no sound, doesn't record anything and this freaking 1000 page book has me lost on what to do!
I'm just trying to record midi so that I can convert and do the Notation Music to turn my music into sheet music. Can someone help me please? On another note, I did save my project so that it was saved....

Ask the instructor to explain any of the instructions that you are 'confused' about.
Please write a java class, which does the following things. (a) It reads two integers (X and Y) from the keyboard; (b) generate two random integers (m and n), such that X=<m<=Y and X=<n<=Y; (c) Print out the results of addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and reminder of two random integers. The program is good if it’s easy to ready with comments and it has a user-friendly interface (give print out messages to end users).
So review you code ask and ask yourself if it follows those instructions:
1. Does it read ANYTHING from the keyboard?
2. Does it generate two random integers that obey the rule you provided?
3. Is your code easy to read and have comments?
4. Does your code print out messages to the end user?
For any NO answers to the above you need to fix the problem. Ask your instructor for guidance.

K8N Diamond Plus , Need some help please

I have the Diamond Plus board and I seem to be having the same issues that most of the rest of you are.
Memory stuck at 333 , When I try to install a soundcard into a PCI slot I find that I now have a modem onboard!
A few other glitches that I am sure will be fixed soon.
Anyway can anyone tell me how I can get the new Beta bios for this board that some of you have? I have sent a
letter for help to MSI but it has been almost 3 days with no responce.
Is this normal? or should I wait more. Or can someone tell me how to get the bios , and if it will help me any at this time.

There are about three or four reasons for what I have done.
First, the reason for buying Diamond was not for gaming the only gaming I do not Spider when a waiting on the computer or the network. System are for my personnel use and that I use them to how high of performance I can get out of them and there are use for my home automation system. A lot of them end up in the hands of my grand kids. Therefore, my primary goal on the system is hard drive throughput and data handling. The nVidia Chipsets RAID Controller are poor, for one main reason and that is there are software driven, the RAID is a Service ran on the Main Processor. Being software driven is the primary reason they are slow and second is the use up valuable Main Processor time. Third, right now they will not work with the newest high speed SATA drives. That means I use a third party RAID controller that is hardware driven. The fastest third party RAID Controllers uses the PCI express bus. As I am not using the system for gaming and do not use the second PCI-E x16 Graphics Card, which means I can use it for an PCI-E x4 RAID Controller Card.
Why is it in the secondary Graphics Card x16 slot? (1) Placing the single Graphic Card in the Secondary Graphics card slot spreads the bigger heat generators out on the motherboard. Using the Primary x16 slot for a Graphics Card puts the Processor, Memory, Northbridge Chip and Graphics in one small area of the this motherboard ( poor design, but you work with what you got.). (2) This leaves the Primary x16 for use by the RAID Controller Card, which is low profile in proving ventilation for the Northbridge Chip. The is a PCI-E x4 slot on the motherboard, but it only has to lays connected to it, if you wondering you I did not use it. (3) The Primary x16 slot has the shortest Hyper Transport data path to memory, which I am hope will improve Hard Drive Bandwidth.
