Install on Proliant DL760

I downloaded and burned the 5 CDs. I booted the Proliant with disc 1 entered all the parameters but the install chokes saying it can't find the disks. I'm running a single 9GB drive on the RAID controller.. I'm just seeinf if I can install it but I can't get past this part. I tried copying the contents of the 5 CDs to an NFS exported partition on another server. The device I'm attempting to install Solaris on sees the other server but not the information it needs to continue the NFS install. Is there a link someone can send me with instructions on setting up an install using NFS.

Having searched Google (after searching Sun's site unsuccessfully) I see that the Compaq Smart RAID controllers are an ongoing problem. I found one thread that had links to HP's site for drivers but the DL760 is not listed there. I can't waste any more time trying to figure out how to install Sun's product on a server which is clearly a "standard" server. Red Hat, SuSE, Ubuntu, Centos and other Linux distributions have no problem recognizing the hardware and loading the driver. I don't understand why Sun doesn't include support for HP/Compaq's servers.
I guess I have no alternative but to
rm -fr sol-10-u3-ga-x86-v1.iso sol-10-u3-ga-x86-v3.iso sol-10-u3-ga-x86-v5.iso sol-10-u3-ga-x86-v2.iso sol-10-u3-ga-x86-v4.iso
and reformat the CDRW discs I tried to install from.

  • Installing on Proliant ML350 G5

    Hello,
I'm trying to isntall Arch on a Proliant ML350 G5 however the broadcom NIC is not detected and I've no clue how to get it working.
I've been searching for a solution online with no succes ... anyone know how to solve this?
    Thanks,
    Anq

Familiarising yourself with your hardware and the drivers it requires is a very informative and useful exercise - yes, autodetection improves all the time, but it's not guaranteed, and it's no substitute for putting in a (usually) minimal amount of effort to establish the facts yourself.
And just so you don't accuse me of lecturing you without helping, I've done some googling, for curiosity's sake, and it seems you might need to use the bnx2 driver - there are various versions of this included in the Arch kernel package.

  • HP Office Jet Pro 8600 Plus 910 n printer driver does not install on a windows server 2008R2 OS

I recently had a new server installed, a Proliant with a Windows Server 2008R2 operating system. I now just discovered that my All in One Office Jet Pro 8600 Plus A 910 will not install on the Windows Server 2008 R2, ïncompatible operating system. Does anybody have a workaround or solution?

    Hello dawnp,
    Welcome to the HP Forums.
I see that you are having an issue with installing the printer on to your Windows 7 computer.
I suggest that we start off by running the HP Print and Scan Doctor.  If the Doctor fails, please let me know where it failed as well as any error codes you may see.
Write me back when you have time and I will be happy to help.

  • Install Solaris10 on HP ProLiant ML370 G6, "No Disk" error

    Hello,
I want to install Solaris10 on HP ProLiant ML370 G6 servers which are on the Hardware Compatible List( HCL). However, I always encounter "No disk" issue and installation fails. The disks are HP SAS disks.
I searched online and knew that CPQAry3 driver must to be installed first. I did but the "No disk" error still happens later.
I am wondering what else I should do?
    Tom

    Hi Tom,
You have to apply the ROMPaq Firmware Upgrade before.

  • Nstalling Windows Home Server 2011 on a ProLiant ML350e Gen 8 Server (Nothing appearing in Operating System Selection During Install)

We just purchased Windows Home Server software that required a new server to be purchased. We went with the ProLiant350e Gen8 Server. IUpon starting up the new ProLiant server I booted from CD-Rom and got to the Windows Install program. I clicked  "Install
A New Server" However, as soon as this page loads it gives me an error that says "Load Driver" "A required CD/DVD Drive Device Driver is Missing. If you have a floppy disk, CD, DVD, or USB flash drive, please insert it now." It gives
me the option to browse or click okay. Browse only brings up the (x:) Boot drive and VID. It doesn't find the driver in VID Than if I click okay it gives me a message that says "No Device Drivers were found. Make sure that the Installation media contains
the correct drivers and then click ok" I have tried to use smart provisioning but this fails as it cannot recognise the media from the DVD drive.
    Thanks in advance,

You should use HP smart start DVD to install the Windows Home Server. If you are booting directly from the Windows DVD it would some times not detect the drivers because of the hardware compatibility issue. You should contact the the vendor and seek help
    from him.

  • Service Pack for Proliant installing successfully but returning failure in OSD task sequence

Building bare metal servers with SCCM 2012 SP1 CU2 OSD and running into an issue with HPs where they attempt to install the Service Pack for Proliant 2013.02.0.  I am using a package with a program.  Here is the program command line:
    Hpsum.exe /use_latest /allow_non_bundle_components /current_credential /silent
The application installs successfully but there is a distinct delay and then errors thrown that fails the TS.  Setting 'continue on error' is a work around but not what I want to have in the production environment.  How can I get around this issue?
This is the same exact package and program that ran perfectly fine in SCCM 2007, but we are seeing this as a new issue since the migration to SCCM 2012.
I'd like to solve this issue as well as get rid of the "Waiting for job status notification....InstallSoftware"
    Any suggestions?

    Hello Guys!
HP ProLiant Support Pack / Service Pack uses different Exit Codes, due to that this software support other operating systems than Windows. Therefore HP has standardized to use other Exit Codes, which Windows Detect as failures.
    HPSum Exit Codes:
    ExitCode 1 = "Installation Successful"
ExitCode 2 = "Installation Successful, but a reboot is required"
ExitCode 3 = "Installation was canceled, or no components were updated"
EcitCode 9009 = "Installation did not complete.  Check the path and make sure that the Installation exists at the specified location"
HP recommends to use following Batch File to workaround this issue for SCCM:

  • Win 8.1 install on HP ProLiant ML10 server

If i want to install win 8.1 proff on HP ProLiant ML10 server ( xeon 3.1 ghz processor ) so it can work or not ???????
    Please help .....

    Hi,
For ProLiant ML10, we can get following information in this link:
    http://www.windowsservercatalog.com/item.aspx?idItem=3d94ac2f-058b-25af-7225-f6119e3c25f9&bCatID=1282
Regarding to install Windows 8.1, please refer to
System requirement of Windows 8.1, and then check if HP ProLiant ML10 server meets all system requirement of Windows 8.1.
In addition, I suggest that you can post the question in
Windows 8.1 forum, or contact with your hardware vendor to confirm this issue.
    Hope this helps.

  • How to install windows server 2008r2 on proliant microserver with 8gb storage?

I've just purchased two HP Proliant N40 Microservers and am trying to install Windows 2008 Server R2 on them.  They come with a single hard drive of just 250GB capacity so on one server I have used the two supplied drives to create a RAID1 array of 250GB and Windows installed fine.
On the second I have installed four WB Green 2TB drives and have configured them as RAID10 for the best performance and resilience. So I have a single disk showing to Windows of 4GB after the RAID array is built.
But Windows gets so far before failing saying it can't proceed (and giving no clue as to why). Googling the issue it seems that there is an issue with installing Windows on a drive with > 2TB.  HP themselves talk about the use of RAID drivers for Windows here: http://h20584.www2.hp.com/hpgt/guides/select?lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=15351&prodSeriesId=4248009&lan... but the link is useless because the link it gives for downloading the driveres just displays a "Not authorised" screen.
I just want a simple way to install Windows 2008 using a secure, performant reliable set of discs.  RAID10 gives me that but Windows won't install.  It seems my only option is to format two RAID1 arrays to overcome this silly limitation.
Am I right?  Or is there a way to configure the four disks as a RAID10 array that Windows can be installed on?
    Thanks for any advice,
    Ian

Update, install continues when drives are set to IDE...so it fails using RAID (1 or 10).

  • Problem while installing solaris 10 on HP proliant DL 380 G5.

    Hi,
facing problem while installing solaris 10 05/09 on HP proliant DL 380G5. The array controller is E200.
i have installed the raid controller driver CPQary3-2.1.0-solaris10-i386, it is going ahead but not detecting the whole hard disk space. My hard disk space is SAS 146GB. There are two 146GB hard disk present. It is showing only 978 MB & only one hard disk. So please help me out. my mail ID is [email protected]

I have a similar issue trying to load Solaris 10u4 on an IBM x236.
I had to put in a recognized SCSI card, attach an external array to the card, and install Solaris 10u4 on the array. Then I had to install the correct driver from OpenSolaris (an Adaptec one for IBM ServeRAID), and do a live upgrade onto the now-visible internal disks. Then I removed the array and cleaned up the traces from the live upgrade.
You may have to do something similar.
And last month the boot drive got corrupted when power was interrupted. "Oops. Wrong plugs..." This time the external array will stay connected.

  • Compaq Proliant 1600 Server Install

    Hi!
I'm working on setting up a Compaq Proliant 1600 server. . .I've made a bit of progress thanks to a few posts on the forum.
I've bugged everyone on the irc channel so now its time to ask here
Basically, I can't get the Arch install to recognize the scsi drives (2) I've got...
    What I've done:
    1.  Loaded all the modules (cpqarray etc...)
    2.  In '/dev' I did 'mkdir ida'
    3.  Next I 'mknod /dev/ida/c0d0p1 b 72 1' <---this should be my swap
    4.  Then I 'mknod /dev/ida/c0d0p2 b 72 2' <-----this is my /
Now I'm not sure what to do...
Since I've been able to partition the drives the next step seems to be to
set filesystem mountpoints, right?  The Arch install doesn't recognize  the drives at all - It simply says "NONE".
So, if anyone has any tips or advice I'd appreciate it
I'm setting this server up for my school's website - and thought I'd go with Arch. . .
    Thanks!
    nedson

It's all about loading the right modules. With < 0.7 ISO's you can modprobe cpqarray. Later ISO's don't have cpqarray anymore, they use cciss.

I have tried downloading HP's drivers for the Smart II controller and renaming the DU/ folders to 210 instead of 28, and the installation program will process the drivers
When it continues on to the part where you select the type of installation, it gives these errors:
    /platform/i86pc/kernel/drv/smartii: undefined symbol 'eisa_nvm'
WARNING: mod_load: cannot load module 'msartii'
    WARNING: forceload of drv/smartii failed
    WARNING: forceload of drv/smartii failed
Then it will continue on to the GUI portion of the install and give the error about not having any available disks to install on to (check cables)
Is there any way to make Solaris 10 load these drivers? I know it doesn't support EISA, but this card is PCI. Not sure why it tries to load EISA drivers for it.
This thing also has SCSI built into the motherboard, does anyone know if Solaris 10 will support that particular controller? No idea what it's called. If it will, I'm just going to plug the hard disk cable in to that and go with it.

Has any body found a way to get Solaris 10 to install with the Smart-2DH controller? I've got a Compaq Proliant 1850R that also has that raid controller and the Solaris 10 install rejected the Solaris 8 driver.

  • Installing Sol 8 on Proliant 800

I'm having trouble installing Solaris 8 (01/01) on a Compaq Proliant 800 (P02). The install fails with "no disks found" after loading the kernel. There are no SCSI devices listed in /devices and this has been tried with the cpqncr driver included with the dist and the latest one downloaded from Compaq. The install sees the SCSI controller and disks during configuration and even lists them on the "choose to install from" menu, but seems to lose them entirely after booting the kernel. This unit is a PP200 and is NOT listed on the HCL, but this same unit with the PII-350 is. Any ideas?

    Hi Ralph
    any
mention of partition a drive or file allocation.what exactly do you mean by this?
Are there any hot keys i can use to modify the install
to access / modify the install to tell it to format
the drive first?I do not know any, but if you find out, please let me know!
    I tried "probe-scsi all/format" thinking that that
process would detect the drive and format it, but no
such luck.Well, actually it should detect the hd. But I'm not sure about the /format, because I think, that probe-scsi detects all SCSI devices and not only the harddrive.
let me please summarize your problem, so that I understand what you are going to do:
    - You have a new harddisk, unformatted, unpartioned
    - You can't use it, since the installation does not start. (well it should, even without harddisk)
    - you want to format it before.

  • Windows 2008 R2 install fails on ProLiant MicroServer G7 N40L

The system has 4 x 2.5SATA drives. I have tried RAID10 and RAID1. Used a 500GB partition for the Windows install. Every time the install gets all the way to the end of the initial install after it completes copying the Windows files and it about to reboot when I get:
Windows could not prepare the computer to boot in the next phase of the installation. To install Windows, restart the installation.
This has happened 3 separate times all at the same place. What am I missing here? Is there some incompatability issue with Windows 2008 R2? The system has 2GB of RAM. I can't tell what kind of memory it is (ECC, non-ECC, etc.)
    Thanks, Michael
