Install On Windows Server 2003

I download Oracle 9i release 2 for windows server 2003 from http://otn.oracle.com/software/products/oracle9i/htdocs/win2k3soft.html. After extracting the zip files I dont see an install files. The files that I downloaded look like they are for a patch. I have installed oracle clients for windows but have not done a full install yet. Any help would be great.

NO autorun folder like all of the other oracle installations I have done.
When I first unzip the downloaded file it makes a zip file named: 9203_nt_release_redo.zip and a Readme file about "Oracle 9i Release 2 Database Server Patch Set 2". After unziping the redo zip file it creates a Disk 1 folder that has the following folders: preinstall_rac, response, stage, and a file patch_note.htm.

Zdm won't install on Windows Server 2003

I'm having the exact problem outlined in TID10098058. I'm trying to install
Zen Desktop management on Windows Server 2003 with sp1 and the install is
failing due to the error 'Error: copying files to server. Be sure that no
ZENworks Desktop Management files are open or locked'
Edirectory was installed on C drive and not on any other drive. The only
thing that I can think of is that the server a virtual server hosted on
VMWARE ESX Server 2.5. Could this be the problem?

I had the old version of SpiceWorks working fine on Windows Server 2003 SP2 & thought of upgrading the version to 7.4. When i double click on the downloaded setup, the windows hour glass would show up for few seconds & nothing was happening. Thinking that this was due to old version, i uninstalled it completely & removed the installed directories. Even then i am unable to install the latest version & not finding the source for old version.

Can WebObjects 5.2 or 5.2.4 installing on Windows Server 2003 ?

Regarding to the topic above, i tried to install completely, even tried also update to version 5.2.4, but i found that one of the services still fail in loading, open.exe
The error msg pop-out: " invoker error", and the log stated that openexec is hung in starting. Meanwhile, my suspicion on this happen might be that "open.exe" is NOT support on 64-bit of the Windows OS, which is Windows Server 2003 instead of Windows 2000, which only 32-bit.
So, any idea or solution to solve this matter?

I don't think that it is related to the windows server 2003 R2 because it is supported if it is a standard edition.

What is not supported is windows 2003 x64.
It is either you don't have R2 standard edition or the problem is something else. IMHO I think that ACS will be able to be instealled correclty with R2 enterprise edition as well.

2007A SP01 PL10 not installing on Windows Server 2003 ?

Hi all:
Yesterday 2007A SP01 PL10 was released. Trying to keep our customer's installations current, I proceeded to try and install the patch on different systems. So far I was lucky with Windows XP and Windows Server 2008 trial installations. However, on all the Windows Server 2003 installations I have tried (OS patched completely), the COMMON database upgrade either closes without error message, or opens up a debug message with no error number or description after clicking the very first "Next" button in the installation program.
Has anybody seen the same effect anywhere? Has anybody been able to successfully install PL10 on a Windows Server 2003? Are there any known issues?

I got the same answer to my support call for my error messages. We are loading that patch and will attempt again. Ironically, I had looked at the same note, and even bookmarked it becuase of the slow 8.8 client upgrade thread, but I didn't think the two were related.
The note indicates only that SAP Business One does not start after patch file application.
"You might encounter one of the following situations after having applied a new SAP Business One patch file:
Your SAP Business One system fails to start after you have applied a new SAP Business One patch file that you downloaded from SAP Service Marketplace.
If you want to find out whether you are affected by this problem, refer to section "Detecting whether SAP will not start up due to missing MS patch" in the attached PDF document.
Your SAP Business One system runs fine but you did not apply the Microsoft security fix mentioned above. However, future downloads of SAP binaries from SAP Service Marketplace might not work (depending on release, etc.)."
If it is also affecting the installation of patches (i.e SAP runs fine, but you can't run a patch installer) the message should also indicate that so that people will know to use this fix in the future.
Hopefully I too will have a resolved issue. I'll post the results.

I have had the same problem and the cause was that the host name was too long.
I put a name shorter and the error has disappeared

JRE Install on Windows Server 2003 Fails

I am trying to install JRE 6.0 on Windows 2003 Server (SP2), it fails, rolls back the installation, then displays a nonspecific error message. There are no other JRE versions installed on this machine. Here is a snippet from the install.log file.

Monitor won't install on Windows Server 2003

Trying to install GW Monitor 7.0.3 on Windows 2003 Standard Edition SP2 with all the latest updates.
First, I got the message about the missing .DLL's. Installed the NetWare client 4.91SP4 (4.91.4.20070720) and those error's went away.
Now, the installation starts, splash screen comes up, the little box that says Install shield will guide me through the installation comes up, a larger window frame blinks on the screen with the title of GroupWise Monitor Install, then all the boxes and windows disappear. I'm back at the desktop like nothing happened.
I know that's not much to go on, but that's all I have. There's not even anything in the Event Viewer about what happened.
Any suggestions?

Tried that setting both ways...no difference.
The files are local to that box.
Also, tried a couple of different versions of Monitor, same results.
No doubt it's something in Windows. I'll find it eventually.

Also, run the install from a local drive, not a network location.

It needs to be on Windows, it can´t be on Linux?

Installing Essbase on Windows Server 2003 64bit

A few weeks back, I ran into trouble with Essbase on my Windows 7 64 bit machine. Somone suggested I try installing on Windows Server 2003 which I am trying to do. Is there a reason why nothing happens when I double click the Installtool.cmd icon on Server 2003? Its the same installation files as the one I installed on Windows 7?

I've got Service Pack 2 installed and I am pretty sure I extracted all the files correctly because I just copied over the folder. A command window does open but no error message is displayed. Could the location have anything to do with it because I once had the same issue when I placed the installation folder in MyDocuments and when I moved it to the C drive it fixed the problem. Only problem this time is it doesn't work.

I think I may have discovered the solution to installing CFMX7 on Windows Server 2003 SP1

I have not tried to reproduce this method so it may not be a
solution, but it worked for me. After many hours of trying to get
CFMX7 to install on a new server with a fresh install of Windows
Server 2003 with SP1, I stumbled across this and it actually
worked. Using the coldfusion-702-win.exe installer, I right clicked
on the .exe and even though I was logged in as an administrator I
received the option to Run as, so I decided to give it a shot. I
chose the option to run as Current User, but I unchecked the box
'Run this program with restricted access'. After I did this, the
install went through error free.

I have not tried to reproduce this method so it may not be a
solution, but it worked for me. After many hours of trying to get
CFMX7 to install on a new server with a fresh install of Windows
Server 2003 with SP1, I stumbled across this and it actually

Out of memory using Windows Server 2003 and Oracle 9.2.0.3

Hi,
I just installed both Windows Server 2003 and Oracle 9.2.0.3. The server I am using has 4 gigabytes of memory installed, and windows shows that to be the actual physical memory on the server. The paging file is 8 gigabytes for a total of 12 gigabytes of virtual memory.
Using the Oracle Database Configuration Assistant, I create a new database using default values. After verifying the installation worked OK (database started, queries ran), I attempted to change some of the memory parameters and was able to start the database using about 1.4 gigabytes of total SGA, with the O/S using about .3 gigabytes for a total of 1.7 gigabytes. I then attempted to change the buffer cache + 1 gigabyte for a total of 2 gigabytes. Now the database will not start and I get an out of memory error ora-27102 with an additional O/S memory error of "O/S Error: (OS 8) Not enough storage is available to process this command".
So, I have two problems:
1) With 4 gigabytes installed, and the O/S using only about 300 megabytes, why isn't Oracle able to take advantage of the memory on this machine past the 1.7 gigabytes (as reported by Windows task manager).
2) How do I change the spfile memory parameters so the database will start using spfile? I can start the database pointing to a pfile with lesser memory parameters, but I don't know how to effect change on the spfile, since I cannot start with the spfile.
Both these technologies (9.2.0.3 and Server 2003) are new to me, so any insight would be appreciated!

CREATE SPFILE
Purpose
Use the CREATE SPFILE statement to create a server parameter file from a client-side initialization parameter file. Server parameter files are binary files that exist only on the server and are called from client locations to start up the database.
Server parameter files let you make persistent changes to individual parameters. When you use a server parameter file, you can specify in an ALTER SYSTEM SET parameter statement that the new parameter value should be persistent. This means that the new value applies not only in the current instance, but also to any instances that are started up subsequently. Traditional client-side parameter files do not let you make persistent changes to parameter values. Because they are located on the server, these files allow for automatic database tuning by Oracle and for backup by Recovery Manager (RMAN).
To use a server parameter file when starting up the database, you must create it from a traditional text initialization parameter file using the CREATE SPFILE statement.
All instances in an Real Application Clusters environment must use the same server parameter file. However, when otherwise permitted, individual instances can have different settings of the same parameter within this one file. Instance-specific parameter definitions are specified as SID.parameter = value, where SID is the instance identifier.
The method of starting up the database with a server parameter file depends on whether you create a default or nondefault server parameter file. Please refer to "Creating a Server Parameter File: Examples" for examples of how to use server parameter files.

Oracle 11g on Windows server 2003

I've oracle 11g installed on Windows Server 2003.
I have installed oracle 11g twice, so wasn't sure how to uninstall one version without effecting the other.
There are a few databases set up, none of which are now working.
Trying to connect using mysql client, or the oracle11g client results in TNSListener errors:

Trying to modify the database (using Database Configuration Assistant) results in the error:
'there is an error in creating the following process: c:\apps\oracle\product\11.1.0\db\bin\sqlplus.exe -S /NOLOG the error is: Error 6 initializing SQL*Plus Messaging file sp1<lang>.msb not found SP2-0750: You may need to set ORACLE_HOME to your oracle software directory'
If there are forums you would recommend to a completely new oracle sysadmin please let me know.

I recommend you read the '2 Days DBA' manual in order to get a basic understanding. It may be necessary to uninstall the current installation(s), especially the last error message looks like a corrupted environment.
