  • OBIEE install problem on Windows 2008 R2 64bit server

    Hi!
I have for 1 month struggled with a OBIEE 11g install on a Windows 2008 R2 64 bit server. (I have a open SR at Oracle but have not got any answer/suggestion for 2 weeks)
    I follow these documentations:
    Oracle® Fusion Middleware
Installation Guide for Oracle Business Intelligence
    11g Release 1 (11.1.1)
    E10539-01
    and
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E14571_01/bi.1111/e10539/c4_installing.htm#CIHDJGIH
Specially chapter 4.4.4 for the moment, cant get pass step "Specify Installation Location"
First did I run RCU against our Oracle 11g database and created the schemas for BI Publisher
    Then did I install JRockIT - jrockit-jdk1.6.0_26-R28.1.4-4.0.1-windows-x64.exe
Then from JRockIT installed WLS_1035 generic.
Then configure AdminServer so thatone is up and running (even installed a HTML server from E1 to check if WLS is up and running and working)
Then start the installer (Oracle Business Intelligence, v. 11.1.1.5.0, for Microsoft Windows x86-64-bit) disk 1, setup.exe, then must I choose "software only" install. But on step 3 och 9 can I not press next, the installer says that I do not have any "Application Server" running. I have installed on E:\Oracle\Middleware but the installer can not see any application there, but I can access it thru a browser.
    Tests I have done,
    Install loopback adapter
    Deinstall loopback
Deactivated everything but IPV4 protocoll (we have also IPV6 on all server).
Verified that we have static ip on the server
Tried installer for BIP (OBIEE) with WLS AdminServer running and without have it running.
And checked the installer logs everytime, no errors, no warning.
Is there anyone how can guide me or give some tips? I am getting frustrated after 4 weeks without success.
    Best regards,
    Anders

    Hi!
It is the installer who not working properly, when using the "Browse", I had to choose a comletly wrong place first, and then again choose the correct installation path, after that would the understand where I wanted to install.
    Best regards,
    Anders

  • Unable to Install OBIEE on Windows 2008 Server R2

I am Unable to Install OBIEE on Windows 2008 Server R2. It is giving the error
Oracle Business Intelligence is not supported on this Windows version. Oracle Business Intelligence is only supported on Windows XP x86, Windows 2003 x86, Windows 2003 AMD64, Windows 2003 EM64T, Windows Vista x86, Windows Vista AMD64, Windows Vista EM64T, and Windows 2000 x86.
But is there any patch to install the OBIEE on Windows 2008 Server R2

    Hi Sk
I think it might be due to compatible issue. So check the properties of the install.exe file and change the compatability to windowsxp or windows 2003 ,then try to install .I think its going to work.Because i installed OBIEE10.1.3.4 on windows server 2008.

  • How can i install oracle 10g on linux cluster

    Dear all:
please advice How can i install oracle 10g on linux cluster service ..
    thanks ,,

Without RAC, you can only have one instance manage the database. One instance = one set of processes communicating via IPC.
Unless you know of a way to have processes use memory-based IPC across nodes, you need to pick a node and install & run the database software on that node.

  • Installing Dirsync on Windows 2008 Server Standard FE

    Hello all,
I need to Dirsync my only domain controller i have to Office 365.  My server is a Windows 2008 Server Standard FE.  I installed all requirement for dirsync to be installed (and all Windows updates also) and i still get an error when trying to install
(Says my Powershell is not at least 2.0, but it is...)
Anyone tried to install Dirsync on that kind of server ? (and made it work?)
    Regards,

    It is
required to update to Windows Management Framework 3.0 or Powershell 3.0 if you are installing DirSync on Windows 2008 R2.  I believe the same applies to 2008 SP1 as well.
Also, I've heard of issues where non-English versions don't properly detect the presence of PowerShell.  You may want to temporarily change your regional format  to English to test this, if this applies to you.

I had the same question and this is what I found on the next page(s):
You have to install Personal 8i for Windows 98.
However, do the following before you begin to install: modify your WIN.INI file, in section [Compatibility95], adding Jew=0x00080000. Reboot your system and install.
I found this out, so I have not tried it myself.
Please confirm if it works. I will do too.

  • Problem installing oracle in windows on a system with a share drive

I am attempting to install oracle on windows at work. I have access to a share drive that has an oracle inventory. I do not have permission to write here.
When I try to install oracle locally on my C: drive, by default the installation looks in the N: drive oracle inventory and since I do not have privileges to write there, it errors out.
how do i set it so that the installer creates an oracle/inventory locally on my C: drive?

On Windows registry key 'inst_loc' defines the Oracle inventory location, obviously a previous installation set this location to shared drive N: . Unfortunately it's NOT supported to change this , statement from Oracle:
Development have stated that manually changing the "inst_loc" string in the Windows registry (under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Oracle or HKLM\Software\Oracle) is officially unsupported.
You could create a 'clean' machine (remove completely all Oracle components including registry keys and start again with a fresh installation)

OR - maybe easier - ask your systemadminstrator to grant the necessary privilege.

You want to install AD on an Internet Server?
According to your description your server has one public IP-address and
no internal IP-address and you want to install AD on this Internet
    server?? Is that correct??
Can you tell us the intended use of this server. Do you want to host
services on this server, which need AD authentication?
If you have a second NIC and your DC is on another local machine I
would not expose your local AD on an public accessible server. If this
server shall become a DC it should not have more than one IP-address.
If you want to access data on this server via Internet securely I would
recommend a VPN solution - preferably not running on the server itself
but on a separate firewall between the server and the internet. In this
case I would have no see a big security problem running AD on this
    server.

  • Oracle Client version (32 or 64 bit) to install on a Windows 2008 64-bit m/

    Hi guys,
      I am installing BOXI 3.1 SP2 on a Windows 2008 64-bit server.
Which Oracle 10g client (32 or 64 bit) should I install on a 64-bit software. I know BO is native 32 bit, so ODBCs should be 32 bit incase CMS repositories are on SQL server.
Is there a standard for Business Objects for the versions of database client tools to be installed on server?
Also can we install database clients tools after the Business Objects 3.1 SP2 install on the server, provided I am using SQL server dbs for CMS and Audit databases?
    Thanks,
    G Bala

    @Duncan
You recommend using 32 bit Oracle client. Is there any official documents from SAP BO stating this? I have difficulties finding anything. I'm in the same situation:
    OS : Windows Server 2008 R2 64bit
    BO : 32bit
    Oracle Client : 32bit OR 64bit?????
Is BO 32bit compatible with Oracle Client 64bit, at the level of using Infoview/Desktop Intelligence?

  • How to install clusterware on windows 2008 R2 64bit

    Hello all,
As you know at otn there is only 10.2.0.4 clusterware setup for windows2008.
I want to install oracle clusterware on 2008R2. I know that there is a patchset 10.2.0.5 for windows 2008R2.
But before using it I must have alredy binary setup for oracle. (I assume)
So when I trying to setup clusterware on 2008R2 I got error
OUI-35073: Exception occured while starting service in the remote nodes. Could not start the service 'OracleClusterVolumeService' in the remote cluster
So I want to know , Is there any way to apply patch to setup files ? So I can install clusterware.
Or how can I install clusterware on 2008R2

    Hi,
Do not install Oracle Database/Clusterware 10g Release 2 on Windows Server 2008, Server 2008 R2, 7 or Vista using the 10.2.0.1 version. You must use the 10.2.0.4 (64-bit) x64 version specifically created for these operating systems. After installation, for Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2, patchset 10.2.0.5 or higher must be applied.

    Hi Agha,
Yes, You can install a Windows 2008 Enterprise R2 machine as additional domain controller  along with Windows server 2008 Enterprise SP2 DC's. There will not be any issues.
Before you add a domain controller that is running Windows Server 2008 R2 to an Active Directory forest run Adprep.exe from the Windows Server 2008 R2 media on your existing domain controllers to prepare your domain and forest.

  • Running Oracle on Windows 2008 R2 64-bits and WCF

I'm trying to deploy to a Windows 2008 R2 64-Bits server running AppFabric a WCF 4.0 service that connects to an Oracle 10gR2 database. On my Windows 7 64-Bits, inside Visual Studio 2010, everything goes well. I first started using Oracle ODP.NET and, on deploy, I started getting the:
System.IO.FileNotFoundException: Could not load file or assembly 'Oracle.DataAccess, Version=2.112.2.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=89b483f429c47342' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.
    File name: 'Oracle.DataAccess, Version=2.112.2.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=89b483f429c47342'
I tried so many things, and nothing seemed to work, and since I'm kinna desperate to get this working, and went to OracleClient, despite the fact that it's marked as deprecated, just to get this working, and buy me time. I removed everything I had installed, but installed just the win64_11gR2_client.zip, with the runtime option. However, than I started getting:
System.DllNotFoundException: Unable to load DLL 'oramts.dll': The specified module could not be found. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x8007007E)
So I reinstalled the win64_11gR2_client.zip, adding the Oracle Services for Microsoft Transaction Server component. But then, whenever I made a call to my WCF service, IIS would crash with the error below:
Faulting application name: w3wp.exe, version: 7.5.7601.17514, time stamp: 0x4ce7afa2

If I tried to change the AppPool to enable 32-bits application, the WSDL doesn't even get generated, and I get the:
A process serving application pool 'MyAppPool' suffered a fatal communication error with the Windows Process Activation Service. The process id was '2856'. The data field contains the error number.
I'm lost, and I don't know what to do. How can it be this hard to do a "simple" and typical Oracle set up? What problem would I try to solve? Does anyone know of a blog post that would show how to correctly set this up? I tried looking, but coudln't find anything, and I'm sure I'm not the only one with this problem
Well, any help would be really appreciated. Tks so much

Supported on Win 2008 R2 64bit is only 10gR2( with patchset level 10.2.0.5) and 11gR2. Oracle support will refuse any assistance for earlier versions, that should you keep in mind. Although some people say client is not so critical as the database server.

  • Weblogic 10.3.5 Install Failing on Windows 2008 R2 64bit Shared Drive

    I am attempting to install Weblogic 10.3.5 on a Windows 2008 R2 64bit machine.
This will be part of a scaled out OBIEE environment.
As per Oracle's instructions (http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E14571_01/bi.1111/e10539/c4_installing.htm#BIEIG2028) I am attempting to install the Middleware Home Directory to a shared drive (DFS).
When I get past the "Choose Product Installation Directories" I get a "Insufficient Disk Space" error saying there's 0 MB available on my shared drive, which is clearly not the case.
I have verified that I have full access to the shared directory.
I have also tried with several other non-DFS directories.
Tried with java version 1.6.0_24 Oracle JRockit build R28.1.3-11-141760-1.6.0)24-20110301-1430-windows-x86_64
Tried with java version 1.6.0)24 64-bit server (no JRockit)
    All with the same results.
I've seen some people post about getting the same error in Mac installs where the solution was to specify -d64 on the commandline, but this is not in the windows 1.6 JDK. I tried -server, but got the same results.
I've also seen some people post about getting the same error in Unix installs where the solution is to point to a different version of df which is used to check space on the file system.
I have yet to find a solution in Windows 2008 64bit that applies to me.
    Any ideas?

I was able to get around this by installing from the jar using the -Dspace.detection=false option

  • MDM 7.1 Installation on a Windows 2008 Cluster

    Hello everyone,
We have a two node x64 Windows 2008 Server cluster.
We have just installed MDM 7.1 (MDS & MDIS) onto the Microsoft Failover Cluster which already has an ABAP system and a JAVA system installed.  Each of these systems has it's own Cluster Service/Application as required, with shared storage (saploc & sapmnt share for each install).
The only way I can get the MDM services to start (SAPMDQ_04 & SAPMDQ_05) is if the local saploc share is removed from each node (c:\sap\usr).
The following entry exists in the Windows Event log when the MDS or MDIS service tries to start
Unable to change to Directory C:\usr\sap\MDQ\MDS04\work. (Error 3 ESRCH*: No such process OR: The system cannot find the path specified.) [ntservstart.cpp 1053]
This path is not valid which is why the service doesn't start but I cannot work out why it is defaulting to looking at the saploc share on c:\usr\sap.  MDS and MDIS are installed on the shared cluster disk which is v:\usr\sap so why does it not pick up this share i.e.
SRMQAMDMCI\saploc.  (SRMQAMDMCI is the name of the Client Access Point for the MDM cluster service)
-> I can browse to this share perfectly fine
Any help would be greatly appreciated

I was just wondering if you found a solution to this problem.
I am currently installing a multi-sid installation on 2008 and getting the same problem.
The first <SID> was fine, but now when I try to install the the second <SID> I am getting the same problem with the saploc when installing the SCS.
The install recognizes the the Virtual saploc, but when the service starts it tries to use the physical saploc.

  • Connecting from oracle on windows 2008 64 bit to sql server.

    Hi,
    Oracle Server name: oraxyz
Database: 11.2.0.4 on windows 64 Bit.
    Database home: d:\app\product\11.2.0\db_1
    SQL server: sqlabc
I have a oracle database 11.2.0.4 on widows 2008 64 Bit on host oraxyz. I have to connect to SQL server sqlabc from this oracle database.
So I installed gateway for windows on oraxyz server in location d:\app\product\11.2.0\gateway.
My initdg4msql in Gaeway oracle home dg4msql\admin looks like this.
    # This is a customized agent init file that contains the HS parameters
    # that are needed for the Database Gateway for Microsoft SQL Server
    # HS init parameters
    HS_FDS_CONNECT_INFO=[sqlabc]:1433//prodsql
    HS_FDS_TRACE_LEVEL=OFF
    HS_FDS_RECOVERY_ACCOUNT=RECOVER
    HS_FDS_RECOVERY_PWD=RECOVER
Then I created a listener in gateway oracle home as follows.
    DG4MSQL =
      (DESCRIPTION_LIST =
        (DESCRIPTION =
          (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = oraxyz)(PORT = 1524))
    SID_LIST_DG4MSQL =
      (SID_LIST =
        (SID_DESC =
          (SID_NAME = dg4msql)
          (ORACLE_HOME = D:\app\product\11.2.0\Gateway)
          (PROGRAM = dg4msql)
Then in Oracle db home I created a tns alias as follows.
    dg4msql =
      (DESCRIPTION =
        (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = oraxyz)(PORT = 1524))
        (CONNECT_DATA =
          (SID = dg4msql)
          (HS = OK)
Then created a database link as follows
    SQL>CREATE PUBLIC DATABASE LINK tosql connect to abc identified by 123 using 'DG4MSQL';
SQL> DESC sqlservertable@tosql gives me error
    ERROR:
ORA-28546: connection initialization failed, probable Net8 admin error
    ORA-02063: preceding line from tosql
    Could any one please help.
Do I have to create any ODBC connection for that?
    BR

Not part of your problem (yet) but I always get heartburn when I see someone naming their listener as if it has a relationship to something when it doesn't.  There really is no point to naming a listener as anything but its default name of LISTENER.
So, in your listener.ora, instead of
    DG4MSQL =
      (DESCRIPTION_LIST =
        (DESCRIPTION =
          (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = oraxyz)(PORT = 1524))
    SID_LIST_DG4MSQL =
      (SID_LIST =
        (SID_DESC =
          (SID_NAME = dg4msql)
          (ORACLE_HOME = D:\app\product\11.2.0\Gateway)
          (PROGRAM = dg4msql)
    Just use
    LISTENER=
      (DESCRIPTION_LIST =
        (DESCRIPTION =
          (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = oraxyz)(PORT = 1524))
    SID_LIST_LISTENER =
      (SID_LIST =
        (SID_DESC =
          (SID_NAME = dg4msql)
          (ORACLE_HOME = D:\app\product\11.2.0\Gateway)
          (PROGRAM = dg4msql)
