Install Oracle XE in a domain without domain administrator credential

Hi,
I work in a company. My Windows 7 64b and my login are identified in a Windows domain. For test purpose, I would like to install Oracle XE on my computer so that I can connect on it.
I tried many things and I had always credential problems or Oracle problems. As I understand the behavior of Oracle :
- if you install it being connected to the domain, you enter during the install a system password that is useless : the domain administrator password should probably be used
- if you logged in the domain but you disconnect your network cable, you cann connect with the given system password
- if after installation you change SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES to (NONE) then you can connect but Oracle isn't started. From the logs, it seems that Oracle hadn't the correct password itself to initialize itself
- if you create, on your computer, a local account with administratror credential, it works all fine from this account but not from your domain account !
My question is : how to install Oracle XE being identified on the domain, without needing administrator credential ? Or once Oracle is installed and authentification set to local, is it possible to initialize Oracle again ?

how to install Oracle XE being identified on the domain, without needing administrator credential Add your domain login to the local administrators group. Per the XE install guide for Windows, the installing user must have administrator rights on the host. See the section "Permission Requirement for Installing Oracle Database XE" at:
http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E17781_01/install.112/e18803/toc.htm#BABIHEJC
Also note the System Architecture requirement, Intel x86, which is not X64. Not to say that it won't work, but there will be challenges getting a successful installer run with a Windows X64 OS.

  • How to install Oracle Configuration Manager on laptop without Oracle dist?

I'm sure this is the wrong forum to ask this in, but I can't find a better one.
I was trying to file a support case in My Oracle Support, which I haven't done in a long time. It appears to want me to install "Oracle Configuration Manager". I just have WebLogic installed on this box. I don't even have an Oracle installation. The installation instructions for OCM seem to be very complicated, or I'm just missing the "just do this simple thing" instructions.
I downloaded the installer, and I installed it, but when I try to submit a support case, it seems like it thinks it's not installed. It keeps on complaining that I haven't used a stored configuration, but I don't see any way to create one. I imagine that OCM is supposed to help with that, but it's not doing anything obvious.

Thanks for the link! The "Oracle® Database Installation Guide 11g Release 1 (11.1) for Solaris Operating System" link you provided says:
    +6.3 Removing Oracle Configuration Manager+
To uninstall Oracle Configuration Manager, follow these steps:
If the $ORACLE_HOME directory contains a database, remove the Oracle Configuration Manager user and the associated objects from the database by running the following script:
    SQL> $ORACLE_HOME/ccr/admin/scripts/dropocm.sql
If the database is a repository for the Oracle E-Business Suite, log in to the database as an SYSDBA user and remove the additional objects from the database by running the following script:
    +$ORACLE_HOME/ccr/admin/scripts/ebs_dropccr.sql Oracle_Applications_User+
If the database is a repository for Oracle Grid Control, log in to the database as the SYSMAN user and remove the additional objects from the database by running the following script:
    +$ORACLE_HOME/ccr/admin/scripts/dropemrep_collect.sql+
To stop the Scheduler and remove the service or the crontab entry, enter the following command:
    +$ORACLE_HOME/ccr/bin/deployPackages -d $ORACLE_HOME/ccr/inventory/core.jar+
Delete the ccr directory by entering the following command:
    +$ rm -rf $ORACLE_HOME/ccr+
Oracle Configuration Manager is successfully uninstalled.
However, $ORACLE_HOME/ccr/admin/scripts/dropocm.sql does not exist on our system.

  • Installing Java on an NT4 computer without an Administrator account

The problem is: I've got a normal PC where Java works perfectly (because I'm an administrator there). Well, that's not the problem really, but the thing is that I need to run a Java application on a computer where I don't have Administrator rights (NT4 with Service Pack 5a) and what is still worse, I can only write into C:\ and C:\Temp. I've got an H:\ network drive to store all my files.
Java 1.4.0 cannot be installed (InstallShield tells that writing into C:\Program Files\Common Files\ isn't allowed).
Java 1.3.0 also can't be installed because it wants to write into some other write-protected directory.
Installing Java from java.com through Internet Explorer doesn't work because is needs Service Pack 6a at least.
The only option left is copying Java from another computer or, well, getting JRE from the installer. I've tried running "java -jar MyApp.jar" and it keeps telling me that a registry key "SOFTWARE\JavaSoft\Java Runtime Environment" is missing. I've searched that key on another computer and is was inside HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE where non-administrator users don't have any write-access.
Is there an option to tell Java the path to its resources in the command-line or putting the registry key into another location where an ordinary user can create it?

I've tried running the same not-installed JRE on the same machine and it worked! I don't even know what happened. Amazing!

  • Oracle database on virtual machine without a license

    Hi,
Someone told me earlier that you can install Oracle on a virtual machine without buying a license. Do you know an internet link that could confirm this.
    Thanks.

What about preconfigured virtual machines Oracle distributes? Do you have to have a license for them as well? I'm pretty sure you do, it would say in big letters if you didn't need a license...
I not can you alter the installations by building additional instances?Yes, you can add instances (except to an XE database) for testing but you asked about licensing a server...

  • Solution for installing oracle 9i successfully on win XP

I have found this method to be reliable in installing oracle 9i on win XP without giving any problems.Try it out and let me know if it helped you all too.
    1. De-install Oracle 9i and any other Oracle products.
    2. Clean out your registry, removing all references to any Oracle product.
    3. Delete all Oracle folders, including the inventory folder in C:\Program Files.
    4. If installing from a CD, wait until the splash screen appears then cancel the installation. Find AUTORUN.EXE on the AUTORUN folder of the installation CD. Right click on it, select PROPERTIES, then click the COMPATIBILITY tab. Check "Run this program in compatibility mode for:", then select "Windows NT 4.0 (Service Pack 5)" from the drop down list. Click OK. Do the same for SETUP.EXE.
    5. Double click AUTORUN

    Hi
    I download Oracle
    Oracle9i Database Release 2 Enterprise/Standard/Personal/Client Edition
    for Windows XP 2003/Windows Server 2003 (64-bit)
And try to install it on XP.
I installed it according to your explanation.
I installed from a CD and wait until the splash screen appears then cancel the installation.
I Double click AUTORUN, click “install/deinstall products”, A message came out “ unable to start oracle installer: Please verify path for the file D:\install\win64\setup.exe”. I went to the directory D:\install\win64, Double click setup. A message came out “D:\install\win64\setup.exe is not a valid Win32 application”.
    Can you help me ?

  • Errors when installing Oracle Client 10.2.0.2.0 on zLinux (Red Hat)

I am receiving errors when installing Oracle Client 10.2.0.2.0 (Administrator) on zLinux. During the install I receive two notifications for File Not Found when the installer tries to create the link for lib32/libclntsh.so.10.1. I hit ignore on the pop-ups and the install completes. The Oracle Net Configuration Assistant then fails to launch with the following error:
Output generated from configuration assistant "Oracle Net Configuration Assistant":

Configuration assistant "Oracle Net Configuration Assistant" failed
The "/opt/oracle/product/10.2.0/db_1/cfgtoollogs/configToolFailedCommands" script contains all commands that failed, were skipped or were cancelled. This file may be used to run these configuration assistants outside of OUI. Note that you may have to update this script with passwords (if any) before executing the same.
I have seen multiple threads relating to very similar errors, but none of the fixes that were suggested have worked. I have double checked the required Red Hat packages and made sure they were all installed on the server. All of the prerequisite checks for the installer are successful. Any assistance would be of most helpful!

Worked with my Linux system admin and figured out that we were indeed missing some packages. There are 390 and 390x rpm's for Red Hat on System Z, i.e. 64 bit and 32 bit versions. Since we are running a 64 bit os some of those 32 bit packages did not get installed. Since our roles are split up, I am kind of blind as to the OS setup so I was not able to catch the problem. It is truly puzzling as to why Oracle would need 32 bit packages even though Oracle client is 64 bit. Regardless, after adding the 32 bit rpm's the installer was able to perform the linking operation that was failing, and the network configuration script ran successfully.

  • Installing Oracle BPM suite, when SOA and BAM domain are already installed

    Hi Gurus
I have installed already Oracle SOA domain now I have to install Oracle BPM suite, How to install it with no effect on already installaton.
    Please guide,
    Aamir

    Hi Aamir,
Shutdown the database all the servers. Start the configuration wizard again(SOAORACLE_HOME/common/bin/config.sh) and select BPM and finish it. (SOA and BPM share the same schemas)
Start the servers. Now you can see that BPM is configured with your soa server.
To check whether everything is fine, login to AdminConsole , goto Deployments and check whether oracle.bpm.runtime(11.1.1,11.1.1) is shown as "Active"

  • Is it required to specify the domain name while installing Oracle Bam

    Hi all,
I am trying to install Oracle BAM. Is it neccessary to specify domain while configuring services location.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
According to your descryption, In windows 7, the tool is migwiz.exe, namely the Windows Easy Transfer, you can modify the registry in the way listed in the post below:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/bbf5890c-b3d7-4b38-83d8-d9a5e025fb2b/how-to-move-clientside-caching-to-a-new-location?forum=w7itproinstall
In Windows 8, Windows easy transfer is also a built in tool to migrate user profiles and user settings, but as for the offline transfer, I suggest to use the USMT for your situation.
Because with USMT you can specify the folder that you want to migrate the files to, by using an offline.xml you can set the path just as the sample listed below:
    <offline>
         <winDir>
              <path>C:\Windows</path>
              <path>D:\Windows</path>
              <path>E:\</path>
         </winDir>
         <failOnMultipleWinDir>1</failOnMultipleWinDir>
    </offline>
You can also refer t othe details at:

    hi user ...
on windows there are some steps in front of installation and configuration.
    1) cleare the Windows Env (Path .. Programme x86 )
no Blank in Path and so on
    2) insert into your local host file your server and IP Adress
    3) in Windows 32 setup of WLS is JDK included so you don't have to install the jdk in front of WLS
    4) verify if you are using the right installation medium (jdk 32 bit, wls 32 bit , fmw 32 bit
in your OraInventory/logs directory is a *.out file for your installation please can you put this file in the forum
is there a nodemanager up and running (if so please stop)

    We are in OID 11g.
Any help on this greatly appreciated.

  • How to create a domain without using the root user in Sunone Server

    Hi,
I am having one requirement to create a domain without using root user in sunone application server 8.1. Does any body know the solution?

    Hi,
If you are using file-based installation, you can install as non-root user and create domains as usual. You can use asadmin command available at <AS_INSTALL>/bin to do this.
    ex: ./asadmin create-domain domaindir /tmp/justfortest adminport 4850 --adminuser admin domain_nonroot_test
Did you face any problem doing this in non-root. Unless you have write permissions in domaindir, you won't be facing any problem.
    Hope this clarifies your question.
    Thanks,
    -Balaji.

  • Oracle Forms 11g Installation. Create domain problem

    Hi,
I am installing Oracle Forms 11g on Windows 7 32-bit system. Installation is done. Create domain is failing during the configuration process.
I searched everywhere but cudnt find a solution specific to the problem.
Only recognisable error message is 'CSF Entries will not be parsed since the AdminServer is unreachable'.
I have checked Node Manager is not running.
Please find below the snapshot of the last few lines of the log file
