Install Oracle81.1.7 for Linux on Mandrake

I have a problem to install Oracle8 1.1.7 for linux on Mandrake. When I run ./runIstaller I got a error message that the Java RunTime Enviroment was not found at ?/bin/jre. The "?"stands for a strange character and may change at diffrent time runing the installer. I downloaded a JRE from blackdown and make a link to /usr/local/jre and I also tried to make link to the JRE shiped with Oracle8 1.1.7. But I still get same error. Does Oracle8 1.1.7 still need JRE downloaded and insatll(or link) to /usr/local/jre? I don't know what else I can try. Please give me a help. Thanks.

Sorry the Oracle version should be 1.7 not 1.1.7. I downloaded it from the web site. The JRE I downloaded is jre 1.18 because the installer asked for this version.

  • Unable to install Flash add-on for Linux Lite Chromium browser

I'm also a newbie to Linux Lite (a variant of Ubuntu) & Chromium browser (but I use Chrome as my default Windows XP browser).  Every time I try to go to a site that requires Flash I get redirected to here
    http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/?no_redirect
Which option should I be using?
I tried selecting "APT for Ubuntu 10.04+" then it says
    External Protocol Request
Chromium needs to launch an external application to handle apt:links.  The link request is apt:adobe-flashplugin?channel=$istro-partner.
The following application will be launched if you accept this request:
    xdg-open
If you did not initiate this request, it may represent an attempted attack on your system.  Unless you took explicit action to initiate this request, you should press Do Nothing.
When I tell it to go ahead I get 'Failed to open URI "apt:adobe-flashplugin?channel=$istro-partner". The specified location is not supported.'
How else do I get Flash installed????

    See
"Why can't I install Flash Player on my Tablet?" (Kindle or Samsung Galaxy)"
As to the iPhone. Apple designed iOS not to be comaptible with Flash. It has never been, and never will be, able to use Flash Player. that was an Apple decision years ago.

  • Installing Oracle Management Pack For Linux in a x86_64

I would like to try this Pack in my test server, however it's a x86_64. If I follow http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/oem/index2.html it seems it's just for x86.
Can you guys confirm if this pack might work in a x86_64?
    Thanks in advance.

Hi DBMS, thanks a lot for your answer. I read both pdf files than come with the pack and didn't find something conclusive. I will read them again just to be sure.

  • 8.1.6 install - Oracle 8i for Linux

I'm trying to install the Oracle 8i for Linux installation kit from the Osborne book.
    You can stop laughing now.
Really, we're going to buy the full deal, but until that happens, we want to get a bit of a headstart. I'm using Hummingbird eXceed v6.2.0.0 as my X server; everything works fine except when I get to the second page of the installer, and NONE of the buttons at the bottom of the installer page (Next, etc.) appear.
    Any ideas, folks?

    Oh, duh, fvwm.

  • [b]Can't not run the Oracle Universal Installer (Oracle8.1.7 for Linux) on

I have a problem when try to install Oracle8i Release 8.1.7 Enterprise Edition on RedHat Linux 7.3. After I do the pre-installation tasks, i enter the command (runs as the oracle user):
    $ /tmp/Disk1/runInstaller
I wait for the one minute and then nothing is happen. I don't understand the reason why the Oracle Universal Installer can't not display! Please tell me all reasons may be!

Sorry the Oracle version should be 1.7 not 1.1.7. I downloaded it from the web site. The JRE I downloaded is jre 1.18 because the installer asked for this version.

Thanks.<HR></BLOCKQUOTE>

  • Flash 9 for Linux

I installed the Flash 9 for Linux, and it works!
I'm using Firefox. The first time I fire up Firefox, it's at
Flash version 9 and works perfectly. But when I close Firefox, the
next time it drops back to Flash 7. Does anyone know a fix?
Normally I use Flash under WinTel, but I wanted to experiment a
little. It works great, except I have to install it again after I
close the Firefox browser, because the browser always reverts back
    to version 7.
    Thanks.

Okay, I found an answer to my own question. ;-) Download the
Adobe Flash plugin. gunzip/tar it. Instead of running the
installer, just copy flashplayer.xpt to path of
    /opt/firefox/components/ and copy libflashplayer.so to
/opt/firefox/plugins/. Change /opt/ to wherever Firefox is. Perhaps
the error happened due to permissions, or something like that, but
there was no error message; rather it worked the first time, until
you closed and restarted your web browser.

  • Oracle 9i client for linux & PHP

I'm looking to connect PHP on my linux server to a remote oracle server running 9i. I have been unsuccessful in finding good documentation on this process, as most people are either using windows or connecting to a local server.
As far as I can tell, you must install the oracle client for linux, then recompile PHP with oracle support. So:
    1) Is this the best method to do this, and if so where can I get an oracle client for linux?
    2) Is there a location where I can get the oracle extension for PHP without having to recompile PHP?

I believe the extensions are refered to in the php.ini
    and need to be setup.
    ;Windows Extensions
;Note that MySQL and ODBC support is now built in, so no dll is needed for it.
    extension=php_oracle.dll
;Don't know if this is needed and whether there is a
    ;php_oci9.dll
    ;extension=php_oci8.dll
which can be found by this:
    extension_dir = "C:\WINDOWS"
I am trying to perform a similar task, well, sort of. I am running Oracle 9i (9.2.0.1.0) on a Win2003Server machine and do not want to build PHP either.
Please let me know if you find your answer.
    Thanks

OK. It's supposed to have been fixed. Can you try uninstalling and
reinstalling please before I try to get the bug reopened.
Was this a fresh install of 1.1?
