Install oracle8i + designer 6.0 + developer 6.0
I've problems with installing Personal Oracle 8.1.5 + Developer 6.0 + Designer 6.0 on a Windows 98 platform.
Do you know a (the?) solution?

Installing Oracle8i and Designer
I am new to the installation side of Oracle and am attempting to intsall and get running Oracle8i, Designer, Forms and Reports on my NT based Laptop (Basically the package given out at iDevelop2000 (Melbourne)).
So far I have Oracle8i running but cannot get Designer, PLSQL or SQLLDR to work properly (can't resolve TNSNames issues).
The installed directories I used are:
c:\Oracle\Ora81 for Oracle8i
c:\Oracle\OraDes for Designer, Forms & Reports.
I have multiple Oracle Homes 'OraHome81' and 'OraHomeDes'.
Searching the Discussion Groups revealed topic '8i on NT Listener stops working...' which sort of suggests that I may not have installed the products in the correct order. Could you please confirm what sequence I should load the products in and whether a full reinstall would be my best solution.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Let me know if I need to give any more details.The order of installation is (if the
client and server on the same machine)
1.Oracle Designer client software(in default oracle home)
2.Oracle Developer
2.oracle 8i database in (into sepearte oracle 8i home)
3.Designer repository
Designer installation code does not support multiple oracle home.Designer can only be installed in the default OracleHome.

How can I install a Designer 6.0 pre-configured repository ?

I am trying to install Oracle Designer 6.0 to my client machine (Windows 2000) and server machine (Windows NT 4.0), what I did was:
[1]install Designer 6.0 client side on my client machine.
[2]install Oracle 8i Enterprise Edition (version 8.1.7) on the server machine.
[3]configured SQL*Net Client and NET8 on both client and server, and it works fine.
[4]install pre-configured repository using Oracle Designer 6.0 CD #2 (pre-configured repository),but it always gives me such info:
" You have not installed a local copy of Oracle8 Enterprise Edition, therefore, Oracle Designer and ODD D7O4 Preconfigured Repository can not be installed. Please re-install this product after the local
database has been installed."
It seems strange, I did install 8i Enterprise Edition (I even installed Oracle8 Enterprise Edition) before repository, I should have
a local database.

Now that you are trying to install Designer, your problem is easy to solve.
I think you should download Oracle Designer 6i Release 4 for Windows from http://otn.oracle.com/software/products/designer/software_index.htm and then do your install again.
The install and the server side setup maybe time consuming, but I am sure you can do it.
You may install Designer 6i Release 4 in the following steps:
(Before do these, uninstall your Designer 6.0 both from your client machine and Windows 2000 server using Oracle Installer)
Step 0: download Oracle Designer 6i Release 4 from OTN to your local directory, say c:\temp and unzip it to c:\temp\Designer6iR4. I will refer this directory as installation media. Make sure that you have equipped your server machine with at least 256MB memory. In my experience, 386MB is better and 512MB is recommended.
Step 1: make sure that one database was created in your installed Oracle 8i. If not, create a database at this step. The parameters of this database should be adjusted according the needs of Designer 6i. You will be told how to do this later.
Step 2: install Designer 6i R4 from the installation media to server machine. Pay attention at this step that you should "select to install both Designer and Repository." It is recommended that Designer should be installed to another new ORACLE_HOME. Don't install it to your Oracle database home. Say, to the ORACLE_HOME "DESDEV".
Some more words need to be said here, I think, about the ORACLE_HOME for Designer. Later if you install Oracle Developer into the same machine as Designer is installed to, both the Oracle Developer and Oracle Designer should be installed into the same ORACLE_HOME. So the name DESDEV stands for "DESigner and DEVeloper are both installed into the same Oracle home named DESDEV". This will be prompted to you just after the installation of Designer was finished.
Step 3: print out "Oracle Repository/Designer Installation Guideh from "Stat->Programs->Oracle Repository 6i Doc - DESDEV". I will refer this material as gManualh from here till the end of our talk.
Step 4: shutdown your database if it is running and then set the parameters to the correct values (required values) according to gCheck the settings in the Oracle initialization parameter fileh in the Manual, Chapter 2 Server-side installation, migration and upgrade.
Step 5: startup the database and then check the parameters. To do this, you need to login to database as user sys and then issue the command gshow parametersh. If all the parameters are correct you may go step 6. You may leave the database running.
Step 6: make sure that the database is running. If not, startup database here. Before proceed to install Designer 6i Server-side, the database should in running status.
Step 7: do the server-sidefs install of Designer 6i (that is, Repository) according to gChapter 2 Server-side installation, migration and upgradeh in Manual. In that part of manual, 17 steps of installation and setup Designer 6i server-side were mentioned. I am sure you can manage that with ease.
Step 8: install Designer 6i client-side into your client machine according to hChapter 1 Client-side installationh in Manual from the installation media.
By the way, I should tell you how much time it takes to accomplish all of these steps IF things were went smoothly: it took about 6 hours for me to have all these steps done. And my machinefs specifications is:
CPU 633MHz
RAM 512MB

I am trying to install Oracle Designer/SCM Release 9.0.2.6 patch. I've already installed Oracle 9i Forms and Reports 9.0.2.1.0 (patch 2705870) and 9.0.2.3.0 (patch 3129219). The Oracle Installer version is 2.2.0.18.0, but when I try to install Designer/SCM Release 9.0.2.6.0, which uses Oracle Installer version is 2.3.0.0.0, I get the following error in my hs_err log file:

I suggest that you read the Repository Installation Guide (installed with the product or on OTN) and then go through the Designer Tutorial on OTN (http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/designer/9i_collateral.htm#tut) to understand some Designer concepts. -

Install adobe component for netweaver developer studio
Hi,
I am trying to develop adobe forms in nw04s sp 9 studio and I have installed livecycle designer 7.1 as well.
However I fail to see the webdynpro tab in library section of interactive form designer.
In the prerequisites , I see that adobe component needs to be installed on studio.
Is the problem related to this adobe component ? If so what should I do ,if not what is the cause of the problem. Please provide me step by step process which actually works
so that webdynpro tab appears. Right now I see only standard, custom and barcodes

3)Adobe Reader7.0.x is installed
4)SAP NetWeaverWeb AS Javacompatible with the DevStudiois installed
5)The Adobe Document Servicesare deployed and configured on the SAP J2EE Engine.
6)The Active Component Framework(ACF) of the Interactive Forms integration is installed. (not mandatory)

Cannot install Itinerary Designer for VS 2010 on Win7
I have been facing issues with installing Itinerary Designer for ESB Toolkit 2.1 Appreciate if someone can point to the possible shortcomings in my setup.
I have BizTalk Server 2010 Developer Edition running on Windows 7 machine. SQL Server 2008 R2 and Visual Studio 2010 with SDK. I am able to install ESB Toolkit 2.1 and also configure it. However when I try to install Itinerary Designer Extensions it
throws "This extension is not installable on currently installed products"

To remove designer 6i and developer 6i manually
I installed designer 6i and developer 6i on my WinME. Now my PC is upgraded to Win2000. After upgrade, I cannot use the universal installer to remove both designer 6i and developer 6i. Can I remove them manually?
Any suggestion?
RichardFirstly, in order to be able to invoke the OUI from your Start Menu -> Programs -> Oracle Installation Products, you might have to change rename the following file: <Local Drive>:\Program Files\Oracle\jre\1.1.7\bin\symcjit.dll with symcjit.ori (the other option is to update it)
Secondly, in order to uninstall IDS6i, you can either use the installation CD as to select the �Custom Installation/De-Installation� or simply invoke it from the following file: ORAINST.EXE which is located under your <Local Drive>:\Oracle Home-Directory/Bin.
I would also strongly suggest that you proceed to a thorough Regedit cleanup. More especially if you were using a previous version of Designer (ex: Designer 2000) in parallel on the same workstation.

and i am getting repository error when using designer6i with oracle8iWhy are you still using Designer 2000 for Oracle8i when the latest Designer is 10g Release 2 and Oracle is 10g Release 2. Anyway, the sequence should be:
1. Install Oracle 8i in an ORacle Home
2. Install Designer 2000 in another Oracle Home on the same PC.
3. Create your DDL script to create the Repository Owner in SQL Plus
4. Run Deisnger 2000's Repository Administration Utility to generate database schema into the data tablespace and index tablespace.
5. Set TNSNAMES.ora of Designer 2000 so that you can connect to Designer 2000 via the connect string. -

for Installing and Starting SAP Widget Development Tools as an Eclipse Plug-in
I am very new to it, So I was following Step by Step procedure.
On the 16th step I am getting an error:
AP Widget Templates (0.12.0.1167) requires feature "org.eclipse.gef (3.3.0)", or equivalent.
I had download the SAP Widget Development Tools.zip file from https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/downloads?rid=/webcontent/uuid/b03b6544-c741-2a10-8999-ed04eb2b2c71
While unzipping the eclipse-SDK-3.3.2-win32.zip, there were two errors:
The System cannot find the file specified &
The file name or extension is too long.
I ignored them and continued the unzipping.
Please guide me as to how we can solve this error.

This happens sometimes because of the Eclipse that you use. Download the Eclipse JEE Version. When you go to eclipse.org and try to download eclipse you can do a comparision of the versions there, You download the version which supports all the web features.

Check the above link you will be able to see the package details. Please download this Java IDE for EE developers and try installing the SAP widgets foundation then, If you are facing any problems in installing the plugins thru local archived site please let me know.

Unable install CS6 design standard on Mac OS 10.8.2

I having problem when installing CS6 design standard on Mac OS 10.8.2
i was using the online .dmg to install everytime when the installation seem like almost done (the progress bar shown 99%). suddenly it just fail.
I was using admin id and tried adobe clean tools to reinstall.

A quick look at the error log, indicates a permission issues. Are you logged in with an Administrator account and have sufficient privileges to install software? -
Error trying to install CS4 design premium on windows vista home premium
I'm having trouble installing CS4 design premium, as soon as it does the checking system it comes up with an error that says I need windows XP sevice pack 2 and some other windows. I have Windows vista home premium and all the other requirements, so i'm not sure why it's saying that? I do have CS3 installed but I didn't want to unistall it before I installed the CS4, cause then I wouldn't have anything to work on. The CS4 is brand new and I have it installed with no problems on another computer that has windows XP. Would I have to uninstall CS3 before I try to install it? I'm afraid that I will be left with neither if I do that and this was not a cheap investment to take that chance. Does anyone know how I could get CS4 design premium installed?

Acrobat Pro 9 will not install (FAILED), although every other program on the CS4 DVDs did install properly.
I have followed the instructions, and have tried with no programs running, not even virus protection (which is an insane thing for Adobe to demand of a product being installed where the installation routine is expecting an Internet connection): FAILED.
I uninstalled my Acrobat 6 Pro, (a standalone Pro version that I had to have a few years ago.) I uninstalled that working program knowing I had no idea where my original Adobe Acrobat CD is located, so I was essentially cutting myself off of Acrobat Pro if the Acrobat 9 Pro install continued to fail.
I reported this to Adobe support online.
I have followed the instructions to disable startup items and services, then tried the Acrobat 9 Pro install: FAILED.
At that point, I gave up installing Acrobat 9 Pro. I didn't have any more time to screw with it - I would re-visit the installation failure later.
Lo and behold, a client sent me a PDF file of a brochure, in an email, and I had to grab some text from it to put on his website (Done in Dreamweaver CS4.) Well, damn, now I'll have to go back and get that install to work...FAILED!
Suspecting a problem in the installation routine on the DVD, I decided to download the trial version of Acrobat 9 Pro. So, I did. It downloaded and installed without a hiccup, and I had Acrobat 9 Pro working for 30 days...
I did what I had to do, using the trial version, then figured I would re-visit the installation issue later, when I had a few hours to dedicate to all the hell of calling Adobe software support, handholding, maybe registry edits, multiple reboots, and multiple attempts at doing everything again, just so the support person would know that I did follow all the steps correctly to prove thw outcome is sill FAILED!
Oh crap, I got another PDF file. No problem, I thought, I don't need to edit the PDF, just read it. When I tried to open the file, Acrobat 9 Pro plastered a screen over the program - the screen saying my 30 day trial version has now run out, demanded a serial number, or quit. My CS4 serial number would not activate it, and so I had to quit, not even being able to read the PDF file.
So, I un-installed the trial version of Acrobat 9 Pro that had installed without a hitch and had worked flawlessly for 30 days.
Now I'm going to have to visit hell, and get the software that I paid hundreds of dollars for to work...
Please STOP and NOTE: Acrobat 9 Pro installed perfectly from the downloaded Internet version. What does that tell you? There are no operating system issues, no hardware compatibility issues (which I knew anyway, as the OS and hardware is up to date.) Even more significantly, there is no issue with the Windows registry, or other versions of Adobe Acrobat that had been installed before in the machine. My conclusion was that it has to be a problem with the installation routine on the CS4 disks.
So, I spent an hour on the phone with Adobe personnel: software support, to customer service, to sales, to customer service, and back to sales. After software support came to the conclusion that I needed to UNINSTALL ALL OF CS4, and run a clean-up utility, I knew I had to try getting a new set of DVDs and hope the installation routine problems/bugs had been worked out.
After being batted back and forth by Adobe Customer Service and Adobe Sales, I finally got someone to agree to send a set of DVDs to me.
I got the DVDs. I tried to install Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro: FAILED
As I told the software support person, I do not want to un-install the entire CS4 suite. I have all of those programs working fine, and have about a dozen web sites within Dreamweaver CS4 painstakingly set up and active, and some of them are current projects that I am working on daily. I also have multiple extensions installed, and spent quite a bit of time getting all of those programs set up for my preferences and my work flow. I DO NOT WANT to uninstall the entire suite of applications to get Acrobat 9 Pro to install.

At this point, what I want is to know what registry keys to edit and which folder(s) to delete to eliminate previous traces of Acrobat. In other words, just exactly the tiny piece of the "clean-up utility" that I need to run in order to allow the *Y#^%@#&#(& installation routine to work for Acrobat 9 Pro. I have no intention of uninstalling Dreamweaver CS4, as that is my business livlihood, and I know that my Dreamweaver CS4 client files/sites could not be read by earlier Dreamweaver versions. Asking me to uninstall Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash, InDesign, and Fireworks is insane. Your bad installation routine is not my fault, and you cannot expect me spend countless hours getting all those programs set up the way I want and with all my client/work files working correctly and all the extensions set up properly. So, if Adobe software support refuses to tell me what registry keys need to be changed, then I want Adobe Sales to send me a new, standalone version of Acrobat 9 Pro on disk.
DennisI hit the same problem except I had a Reader X installed not a pro version. For me the solution was to really make sure that nothing else was running. I followed the steps from http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2438651#reso2 the link is goofy so here is the pertinent text:

Cannot install SQL Server 2008 R2 Developer on Windows 8.1
I am unable to install SQL Server 2008 R2 Developer edition on Windows 8.1 Enterprise evaluation and about 3/4 of the way through the installation I get this error msg:

I tried installing as adminstrator and in compatability mode with Windows 7/Vista but that didn't work. Trying to install from the dvd or from the extracted files in my drive made no difference.
I am now wondering if there is a download link for SQL Server 2008 R2 Developer edition with SP2 included (i.e. not just SP2 but the whole application (5GB+) otherwise I am not sure how to install this.Hello,

2. Make sure you stop antivirus services during running the setup.Make sure you Right click on setup.exe file and select run as administrator.
If above does not works include below as well
3. Please verify WMI service is started.
If WMI is started, consider to repair WMI.

Installing Oracle8i Personal Edition, Version 8.1.5 on Windows XP Pro
I am trying to install Oracle8i Personal Edition, Version 8.1.5 on my system with Windows XP Pro on it.
After copying the CD content to the Hard Drive and renaming symcjit.dll to symcjit_back.dll, and running the setup from the oracle folder on the C drive, I am having the following error message:
" Invalid srttaging area. There are no top level components for Windows NT available for install from this satging area".
Any clue?You may want to search the database forums or All forums categories first to see if this question is already answered. I see at least 6 threads in the database category level and 21 threads when I searched all categories for "invalid staging area." If you still do not the find the answer, please repost your question in the database forum.
