This involving EBS, I am posting here to get the assisatance I can't otherwise get at OBIEE/OBIA forum.

Please advise the order of installation of these s/w when i am planning to install EBS r12:
EBS R12 ( to integrate w/ OBIEE for vision demo database to be able to perform ETL tasks for R&D )
OBIEE 10.1.3.4
OBIA 7.9.6
Informatica 8.6.1 (w/ hotfix 6)
DAC 10.1.3.4.1
(Essbase Hyperion installation - I wil shortly try installing essbase 11x post successful installation of the above )
on windows 2003 server 32 bit sp2 that will be running on VMWare 2.0 hosted on windows xp 32 bit.
RAM: 4GB
HDDs: 200GB + 500 GB (Both IDE Internal SATA) Entire 500GB via virtual hard disk on VMware will be utilized to install this Oracle BI stack of apps and if possible install Hyperrion Essbase stuff also.
Specific asks
1.
Is Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable Package (x86) [2.6 MB size ] downloadable at

the required version ov VC++ required for EBS R12 win-32 install.

Which oracle database (10g/11g) is shipped w/ EBS R12.
Can I utilize the same oracle database for creating Infa/DAC/OBAW users?
Or should I install another Oracle 11g db instance?

Should I configure ActiveDirectory Services(to R&D LDAP authentication stuff)
install w2k3 server---> activeDirectory --> installtion of other apps (w/ administrator user), or
install w2k3->install apps -> then install ActiveDirectoryServices --> install Apps (w/ administrator user)
Any, heads-up/gotchas are HUGELY appreciated.

RAM: 4GBI would suggest you increase the amount of memory on this box as 4 GB should be sufficient for Oracle E-Business Suite R12 installation only. So, with the remaining products, I would say you need more RAM -- I understand that running on 32-bit OS will not allow you to have more memory so you may need to consider installing another OS or having more than one virtual machine.

Since you will be installing Oracle Apps R12 on singe node, you will have to have a Standard or Professional editions of Microsoft Visual Studio 2005. Microsoft Visual C++ 2005/2008 Redistributable Package can be installed on the database tier node only if you have multi-node installation and you already have Standard or Professional editions of Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 installed on the application tier node(s).

I am new to OBI and hence need advice on the architecture:
I have 2 solutions: I have 3 Linux servers for the OBIEE + OBIA installation: All linux servers are 2 CPU, 8GB VMs. Which solution is better?
Solution A:
Server 1: for database. This DB will host OBIEE MEtadata + Informatica Repository + DAC Repository
Server 2: for Infomratica + DAC Servers
Server 3: OBIEE related components + OBIA
On Windows 7 desktop, I will install Informatica + DAC Client.
Solution B:
Server 1: for database. This DB will host OBIEE MEtadata + Informatica Repository + DAC Repository. Also Informatica + DAC Servers
Server 2 & 3: OBIEE related components + OBIA

It depends of your needs.
What I can say is that you need minimum a windows machine if you check the typical topologie.

Anyone tell me how to install patch in obiee 11g.
Basically this is the first time i need to install it in obiee 11g.

I have followed way it is in the document. But I have made it till step5 only.
Later if I type opatch command on the dos prompt it is throwing error that 'is not recognized as an internal or external command,operable program or batch file'
In my server is structure like this.....
Obiee installed in E drive
It has subfolder like 'mw_home'
Under that folder I have instances, jdk116_18,jrockit....,logs,modules,oracle_bi1,oracle_common,user_projects,utils,wlserver.
Under oracle_bi1 I have admin,asoneofftool,assistants,atgpf,.....
Under oracle_common I have admin,admin server registration,bc4j .....
Can anybody give the exact commands which are applicable for my server.... from importing zip from the oracle site and where I will have to place and where I will have to install... Anybody give me all the commands to get my patch install?
can you tell me my steps will going to impact anything further? if i stop it in the middle..

Satellite U400: Need Vista install order and Control buttons don't work

I bought an Satellite U400-11T model with french windows Vista.
I want to change the french Vista to hungarian Vista.
Of course I bought a legal vista HUN and downloaded the drivers etc.
I am interrested in about the install order called installation instruction like at the XP models.
My second problem is; I have already installed the new Vista HUN and the 6 easy key touch buttons don't work anymore.
Where can I switch on it or wich program must i reinstall?

Satellite L35-S2161 - OS and drivers install order needed

I will replace the hard drive in my Satellite L35-S2161 next week. (I attempted this a couple of weeks ago but I could not get the wireless or the PowerSaver utility to work so I put the original hard drive back in, and everthing works)
So what drivers need to be installed and in what order. Also, there is no Toshiba Value Added Package listed in the Toshiba Support website for my L35 with Windows XP. So do I need the Toshiba Value Added Package (TVAP), if so where can I find it? I opened my Toshiba Restore Disk and folder COMPS1 contains all the drivers and utilities that I need. But there is no Toshiba Value Added Package (TVAP).
The only thing I can find in the restore disk is a folder named "Toshiba Utilities 1" and the Notepad in that folder says "+This package is for the Toshiba Utilities. It includes Hardware Setup and Power Save features, which can help you to customize your computer's hardware settings+.", Is this the Toshiba Value Added Package??
Yes I can use the restore disk, but I would like to use my retail XP Pro instead. So if anyone can help with the *correct driver/ utility install order*, it will be greatly appreciated

As Im not mistaken, the Satellite L35-S2161 belongs to the Toshiba US series. All the drivers should be placed on the Toshiba US driver page.
The Value Added Package is not created and designed for Win XP. Its only for Vista and Win 7!
Using Win XP you need to install the Toshiba Power Saver Utility for Windows XP (v7.03.07Q; 08-25-2006; 6M) in order to get the power saver installed.
Regarding the WLan:
In my opinion you have not installed the right driver.
There are two different possible WLan cards; WLan or Intel you will need to install the WLan driver which is compatible with Wlan card.

Win XP Pro drivers and install order for Qosmio E10

I bought recently Qosmio E10 in Korea. The OS is Korean Win XP Home. I would like to change it, so I guess I have two options:
1. Get a restore CD in English. But I read that Toshiba has the strange rule not to give restore CD with different language. I wrote them, they don't answer for now.
2. Install Win XP Pro myself (I have only this license). The issue in this case is to be able to get all the drivers I need. I found good drivers on several locations:
On http://www.toshiba.co.kr, but I worry that these drivers are for Korean XP.
The other place is http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/download_drivers_bios.jsp
In this place, most of the drivers are for Media Center edition. There are drivers for XP Pro, but they are not so many and there is no install order. For example, there is no NVidia driver, while such driver is available for the media center. Maybe I can use Media center drivers on XP Pro?
So my question is: What drivers I have to use and and what order to get a proper working XP Pro. It would be nice to know where to download QosmioUI. I found the Linux player and I will install it, but I want also to have the player in Windows.

As far as I know the software is bundled on notebook and if you buy a notebook you buy automatically OS and license to use it. That means that you can not order a recovery DVD on another language. Qosmio E10 is delivered with Windows MCE2004 SP1a.
The only possibility is to install Microsoft Windows XP OS (full version, with or without MCE), and then you must install all necessary drivers, tools and utilities separately.
For English language you can find them on http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com under Support & Downloads.

Alternate method of implementing EBS-OBIEE security

We have tried implementing the EBS-OBIEE security as per Metalink Note ID 555254.1(without SSO). How ever, we realised that for cookie based integration to work, both EBS, OBIEE URL need to reside on the same domain. At client location, the applications are hosted in different domains.
Any tested/proven alternative method, where we can pass the EBS responsibilities (say Operating Unit) to OBIEE?

yes, the session variable ':USER' is not picking the user name, but when i hard code it to 'BI_ADMIN" this works fine.
i have tried the following formats in the place of ':USER':
VALUEOF(NQ_SESSION.USER)
VALUEOF(NQ_SESSION."USER")
VALUEOF("NQ_SESSION.USER")
UPPER(VALUEOF(NQ_SESSION.USER))- checking if any problem with case
None of them worked.!!
When I remove the whole " USR.USER_NAME=':USER'
the sql runs fine..please help

adsvdlsn.cmd INSTE8_SETUP 9020Search AutoConfig log file for adsvdlsn.cmd and you should find more details about the error.
Please see if (Rapidwiz R12 Failed at 66% with error: RW-50004: Error code received when running external process. [ID 418109.1]) is applicable.
Also, please run md5sum as per (MD5 Checksums for R12.1.1 Rapid Install Media (Doc ID 802195.1)) to verify the integrity of the stage area directory.

Installing Oracle ebs 12.2.3 VM appliance on a Mac

I am trying to install the ebs VM template/appliance on VirtualBox on my MacBook but I've run into problems when trying to run visionappsconfig.sh. For some reason my local host name and domain appear as "unknown.Home". I have run configdhcp.sh but still find the same problem.
If anyone has successfully installed 12.2.3 on a Mac would greatly appreciate if you can you list the steps, I read somewhere the assemble.sh script needs to be slightly changed.

I removed the vm and restarted this again and this time was able to run both visiondbconfig.sh and visionappsconfig.sh. I also added the 'then' in configuredhcp.sh and run that ok. However, when I now try and login via the browser using hxxp://ebs.example.com:8000/OA_HTML/AppsLogin - it states 'unable to connect'. Running startvisiondb.sh states '...cannot start already-running Oracle shut it down first' and running startvisionapps.sh makes reference to line 31 and returns 'no such file or directory'.

I tried to install EBS, the apps check and found some errors that I need to fix before it can proceed. I tried to fix everything, re-run the installation and now I always got message:
"No install actions have been found for this machine. Continue on to other uninstalled machines in your configuration, or fix the configuration file to correctly call out this machine"

Correct install order for CS4 and CS5 on 32-bit system?

I have CS5 (Master Collection) to install on a 32-bit Windows XP system.
As the CS5 versions of both Premier Pro and After Effects require a 64-bit edition of Windows, included in the disc set are CS4 versions of those programs for this purpose.
What, if any, is the preferred install order? I am inclined to install the CS4's first, assuming the CS5 install will overwrite/update some shared components.
Should I install the CS4's first, CS5 first, or will it make no difference?

The right procedure is installation of CS4 first then CS5.
