Install PHP on a Macbook Pro

I just (last night) upgraded to a Macbook Pro and found to my horror that the PHP package would not install.
Not too much of a problem as I could download the source and build it locally, and that is what I did.
I am toying with creating a weblog as it was not entirely straightforward. However I am not sure of the relevance.
If there is an interest I will add the weblog.
Regards
JohnA

I think that a weblog would be cool...Somewhere...Someone could have the same problem...And a good weblog could came in handy for him or her -;) Not all developers know how to compile the binaries...
Greetings,
Blag.

It is built-in to every web browser.   Look in your browser preference to make sure it is turned on, and make sure you are using the most current version of the browser.   Mind you some scripts depend on Microsoft's ActiveX, which is not supported by Mac OS X.  For those, see this tip:

  • Installing Arch on a MacBook Pro Retina

I've spent many hours trying to install Arch on my macbook pro to no avail (over 14 times I've tried), I've learned a lot through this process, but apparently not enough. I get the system installed and blessed (in OSX), but when I try to boot into it I get stuck on "loading initial ram disk." (Previous errors were a read-only file system, but this one is latest) My hunch tells me it has something to do with the mkinitcpio.conf (I was told to add "ahci" to MODULES and "keyboard" after "autodetect" in "HOOKS") and I know the mkinitcpio -p linux command creates the initial ram disk environment (thanks to the docs).
Here are my steps, the bash scripts I created to do all this. Does anything look out of the ordinary to anyone?

Ok, so I managed to boot into arch. The issue was my fstab. The custom settings I was using were incorrect. Going with the defaults helped. Also, the version of grub I was using was broken. See this link for the fix: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=164101
So after I tar -xvJf xxx.tar.xz the fixed version I was able to generate a boot.efi, copy it onto the 128MB HFS+ on OSX and then bless and boot.
A whole new slew of errors occurred.
First, the video mode error occurs "No suitable video mode" (and something about a font).
    I found a fix for it here: (but it didn't work) https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/GR … d.22_error
    I added
    cp /usr/share/grub/unicode.pf2 ${GRUB_PREFIX_DIR}
    Then add:
    UEFI systems:
    insmod efi_gop
    insmod efi_uga
After that add the following code (common to both BIOS and UEFI):
    insmod font
    if loadfont ${prefix}/fonts/unicode.pf2
    then
        insmod gfxterm
        set gfxmode=auto
        set gfxpayload=keep
        terminal_output gfxterm
    fi
Gist: Add these few lines to your grub.cfg, result: no luck still this error
What I'm not sure is if if this is affecting my ability to start the xorg-server.
Then after that the network became unreachable (which is strange because the ethernet worked ootb on install)
    systemctl enable dhcpcd@enp0s10
    systemctl start dhcpcd@enp0s10
    allows me to ping -c 3 google.com
Lastly, I cannot start the xorg server. Says the nvidia module is bad. I installed bumblebee, and ran startx (not from root) and I get a black screen. This is after installing: xorg-server xorg-xinit xorg-server-utils xf86-input-synaptics nvidia acpid
Then running: systemctl enable acpid nvidia-xconfig
My graphics card is a Geforce 650M and I've read I should be using the nvidia module, not the open source noveau module.
startx just boots into a blank screen now and I'm unsure why.
Any speculations, ideas, or thoughts would be gladly welcome.
    Thanks ahead of time!

Can I purchase Mountain Lion and make a flash drive bootable? I do not want to install it on my Macbook Pro. I have Snow Leopard on my Macbook Pro now, and due to my hard drive needing repair, I need to boot off of another source, like my flash drive. I am in Paris and my Snow Leopard DVD is in Texas.

Mac OS X has a built-in disk diagnostic and repair program called fsck or file system consistency check. Here’s how to verify and repair your startup disk with fsck.  As soon as you hear the startup tone, press and hold Command-S on the keyboard. Keep holding down those keys until you see a black screen with white lettering. This is called “booting into Single User Mode.”  As the Mac boots in this mode, the screen reports each step of the process. The line should end in root#.  Right after the root# prompt, enter the following: /sbin/fsck -fy
If repairing the disk in single user mode fails, it means one of two things. Either your hard drive itself is failing (a hardware failure), or the directory damage on your hard drive is beyond the capability of the built-in repair procedures in OS X.

  • Installing Tiger on a Macbook Pro that came only with Leopard

    Hi guys,
Any ideas on how to install Tiger onto a Macbook Pro that came preloaded with Leopard, and only has a Leopard disc?
I've got a refurbished Macbook Pro recently. Realised that one of my application doesn't work, Capture One Pro. Visited Phase One's website and they said it only supports 3.9 and above at the time it was released, which makes it 10.4.10.
Systems in the story below: Macbook Pro Core Cuo. Macbook Pro C2D (new set), Mac Pro, iMac Core 2 Duo
    Here's what I've tried
    1. I've an original disk that came with my MBP CD. When I try to boot from that disk on my MBP C2D, it gives me the crash screen -> "please hold the power for secs to restart".
    2. I've tried installing Tiger onto my iMac and did a harddisk clone via Carbon Copy Cloner (CCC) to my MBP CD. Tiger was able to run on my MBP CD fine.
    3. Then I tried using CCC to clone it over to my MBP C2D. It doesn't work. Shows me the crash screen.
    4. I've tried installing Tiger on my Mac Pro. Used CCC to clone over the disk image to MBP C2D. Doesn't work too. Crash screen.
    5. Created disk images of Tiger with Disk Utility on iMac, Mac Pro. Tried to restore using the iMac, Mac Pro disk images of Tiger. Doesn't work. Shows me the crash screen.
    6. Updated Tiger to 10.4.11 on my Mac Pro. Created disk image using Disk Utility. Restored MBP C2D with it. Crash screen on load.
I'm out of ideas and Apple Support won't open until Monday.
It seems that this MBP C2D is set on not installing Tiger, no matter what. Wonder if getting hold of a Tiger retail disc will do the trick?

You can install tiger onto a MacBook Pro up to version 3,1.
Run System Profiler and under hardware:
    Hardware Overview:
    Model Name: MacBook Pro
Model Identifier: MacBookPro4,1 This line is the model number!
Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo
    Processor Speed: 2.4 GHz
    Number Of Processors: 1
    Total Number Of Cores: 2
    L2 Cache: 3 MB
    Memory: 2 GB
    Bus Speed: 800 MHz
    Boot ROM Version: MBP41.00C1.B00
    SMC Version: 1.27f1
    Serial Number: XXXXXXXXXXX
    Sudden Motion Sensor:
    State: Enabled
I have got tiger installed onto this MacBookPro which is the latest 4,1 model, but you require the latest Tiger disk (which the Apple Genius had in my case), but the volume, brightness and trackpad gestures do not work! Everything else is fine.

  • I installed Lion on my MacBook Pro and the Finder keeps quitting - how do i fix it?

I installed Lion on my MacBook Pro and the Finder keeps quitting - how do i fix it?
Worse, i can't force quit the finder and get it to relaunch - the command won't work.
Most of the Lion software also won't work - iTunes, Mail, iCal - and only some of the preferences work.
    The message:
    Finder quit unexpectedly.
Click Report to see more detailed information and send a report to Apple.
Won't go away no matter if i hit Ignore or Report...
I have no clue what to do...
    Any help?

Does that happen if you boot into "safe mode"?  Launch the Console utility and look for messages that might explain the problem.  If you see a "crash report", post its contents here.

I am pretty new to the apple world. Tried doing it through bootcamp but did not success.
I am not interested to install it through Parallels or Fusion. Plz guide.
    Thanks !

OK, use Windows 8 in Bootcamp. Be aware that there are no Bootcamp drivers for Windows 8 yet. So you may experiance not only delays but display problems, freezing, crashes and other problems.
Here is the Bootcamp forum. Make sure you read all the posts from people experiencing Windows 8 problems with Bootcamp. https://discussions.apple.com/community/windows_software/boot_camp

  • Cannot boot from usb flash to install Windows 8 on Macbook Pro 13"

    Hi! All
I have a 2011 Macbook Pro 13" and I want to install Windows 8 on it. I use bootable USB stick, which I can boot fine from on my PC, so I assume it's not the USB stick that is a problem. First of all Bootcamp didn't recognise it. Fine, I partitioned the laptop's hard drive myself. Then while rebooting I held the Option key to manually select the USB drive, but it did not appear on the list. As someone suggested on the internet I even replugged USB stick to another slot during while on that screen, but it didn't help too.

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
You can install Windows from a USB drive in one of these Macs:
    - MacBook Pro with Retina display.
    - Mac mini (Mid 2010 and newer).
    - MacBook Air.
    - iMac (Late 2012).
You don't have any of these computers, so you can't install Windows through a USB disk. Its firmware doesn't allow you to start up from your Windows installation disk.
You have to buy Windows 8 on a DVD. You need a System Builder version, which you can buy at Amazon or NewEgg. Follow Apple's steps to install Windows on the MacBook Pro > http://manuals.info.apple.com/en_US/boot_camp_install-setup_10.8.pdf

  • How to completely remove mac os and install windows 7 on macbook pro with retina display 15 inch

how to completely remove mac os and install windows 7 on macbook pro with retina display 15 inch

There's not much sense in purchasing a Mac to run only Windows on it.  Keep in mind that drivers for Windows are a secondary concern for Apple.  While Windows will typicall run fine, things like power managment are not optimized under Windows (you'll get less time on battery while running Windows).  You will also not be able to install firmware updates.  Firmware updates might be necessary whether you run Windows or OS X as they are updates to the code in your hardware and are not OS-specific.  You must be running OS X in order to install a firmware update.  You can do this even if you boot off of an external drive with OS X installed on it.  At the very least, you should keep just a small partition for OS X on your internal drive.

hello everyone!  i have a new macbook pro and i want to download aperture.  my app store says it is already installed (on my old macbook pro).  how do i install aperture from the app store in this instance please?

Are yoy sure that Apeture is not in the Applications folder of the new system? If it is move it to the trash and the App Store will let you download Aperture from it.
You will need to make sure you use the same Apple ID you used to purchase it in the past.

  • Have CS 5 Installed on my iMac and works ok. But installed on my new MacBook Pro it won't open NEF files from my Nikon D810. Displays NEF icons, but when I try and open them the response is: Make sure latest RAW updates are installed. If problem persists

Have CS 5 Installed on my iMac and works ok. But installed on my new MacBook Pro it won't open NEF files from my Nikon D810. Displays NEF icons, but when I try and open them the response is: Make sure latest RAW updates are installed. If problem persists follow link: http://www.adobe.com/go/kb407111. Have installed Bridge 5.0.2.4; Raw Ref Version 7.0.0.308; DNG converter_8_7_1.dmg; Bridge 5.0.2 Update 2. Also same problem with Lightroom which I don't normally use. Lightroom_3_LS11_mac_3_6.dmg installed.

In the link you posted it states that the Nikon 810 requires ACR 8.6 or newer.
Version of ACR are specific to versions of Photoshop. You cannot use 8.6 nor even 7.0.in CS5.
I believe that ACR 6.7 is the latest that will work with CS5, so make sure you have this installed and get rid of ACR 7.
Having 2 versions of ACR will cause problems.
You have already downloaded DNG Converter 8.7.1.
Have you double clicked the DMG file to allow you to install DNG Converter on your computer?
Be aware that DNG converter is a stand-along application and not a plug-in.
You need to open DNG converter at select the FOLDER that contain your .NEF files.
Don't open the folder and try to select individual files, it doesn't work that way.
After converting your D810 files to DNGs you can then open the DNGs in CS5
The problem is your camera didn't exist when CS5 & its version of ACR was developed.
i don't use Lightroom, but the list mentions Lightroom 5.6 as needed to open D819 so your 3.6 version of LR won't cut it.
