installed first disc and than power out. restarted at beginning of install but it wants the original serail # removed.please help.step by step.bought this last night and per Adobe cust suprt return to best buy which I sis today. He got the serial # and now I have this glitch. please help with step by step.thanks

thank you for response. I am having a problem installing an Adobe Photoshop elements 10 software program. Last night I was online with customer support about getting the serial number from the box instructions. Evidently there have been changes and I was told to return to the store I bought the program from. I did and they were able to get the serial # and I returned home to install it. All was good until the power failure and everything returned to the start of the install. Asking me to uninstall the software but I have to be online to get the serial number back? I am confused. Step by step instructions would be very helpfull. thanks.pak.

That's because the Boot Camp volume was created, but your Mac hasn't been set up to start automatically from the Windows disc. Insert the Windows DVD and press C key while your Mac is starting to start Windows installation.
If you want to make sure that everything is correct, open Boot Camp Assistant and choose the option to remove Windows 7. Then, open that application again, select the option to install Windows 7 and you will be able to install Windows as usual

Reinstall it.This time delete the receipts first.
To re-install iPhoto
1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
2. Download it from the App Store to reinstall It's on your Purchases List* there.
For older versions that have been installed from Disk you'll need these additional steps:
2a: On 10.5: Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.
2b: On 10.6: Those receipts may be found as follows: In the Finder use the Go menu and select Go To Folder. In the resulting window type
/var/db/receipts/
2c: on 10.7 or later they're at
/private/var/db/receipts
A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.
3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only.
*Sometimes iPhoto is not visible on the Purchases List. it may be hidden. See this article for details on how to unhide it.

One question often asked: Will I lose my Photos if I reinstall?
iPhoto the application and the iPhoto Library are two different parts of the iPhoto programme. So, reinstalling the app should not affect the Library. BUT you should always have a back up before doing this kind of work. Always.
Important:
As you're on 10.9.3 you'll need to update iPhoto to v9.5 before opening it. Use Software update.

Mac OS 10.4 Install Stops After First Disc

I'm trying to do a fresh install of mac os 10.4 on my mac mini g4. I restarted the computer with Disc 1 and booted up while holding C. I went under options and chose to do a fresh install. After it checked disc 1 the install began. After it finished with disc 1, it restarted and then it gave me the message, "Please insert the 'Mac OS X Install Disc 2' disc to continue installation. (You have chosen to install software that requires this disc)."
This is where the problem is, I insert Disc 2 and after about 10 seconds, it spits it back out. Nothing on the screen changes.
I've tried restarting it, inserting disc 1 again, restarting the installation process, and restarting while holding C with disc 2 in. None have gotten me past that message.
The discs I am using are the ones that came with the Mac Mini (two gray discs).
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi there, That second Disk thing happens frequently, the best way around it is to do a Custom install, and eliminate enough Printer Drivers, Languages, Fonts, and Applications you don't need... then it may skip #2 altogether.

I downloaded the iWork 09 trial onto my MacBook Pro 13" (mid 2010) and used it successfully for the 30 days. I then purchased the iWork 09 boxed DVD.
(Before inserting the DVD and installing iWork 09, I removed the iWork 09 trial, as well as the previous iWork 08 licensed version. I think I made a big mistake doing this!?)
After installing iWork 09 from the disc and launching it, it keeps requesting me to buy a serial number online! I have already followed the instructions of inserting the DVD again and reinstalling.... it just overwrites the existing files. Still the same problem on launching Pages, Numbers or Keynote!
iWork 08 was much better when they shipped a serial number with the boxed disc!
This new iWork 09 without a serial number in the box is just stupid!!??
How are you supposed to activate it??
Should I not have removed the trial version before installing from the disc?

SolutionCenter isn't an Adobe app.
Most likely it was (or still partly is) installed, and it uses Flash Player, but it's trying to update.

This did not help the problem. History of problems that started 3 days ago before 6.1 update:
Problems started with the phone dropping a call I was on. Then the screen had lines across it, then screen turned solid green.
Powered off the iphone.
Happened again 4 hours later. Dropped call then garbed screen. Powered off then back on all seemed okay.
Applyed 6.1 yesterday in the morning. Phoned died completely last night. Plugged in over night and it came back up this morning.
Phone is still within 1 year warranty. Should I just have Apple replace the phone (Warranty runs out in 2 weeks)

Yes done all the above,and more checks, seems 10.5.7 is not as user friendly as earlier versions..takes me back to OS 8..sigh.....
Cheers for the advice...I'll just put up with the quirky way this OS boots. now back to work.

Problem with installing power manager

I've been trying to install power manager 6.36 without success.
The first setup which installs files into "c:\swtools\readyapps\pwrmgrv" goes well. but when im trying to install Power Manager and click next to install to the destination folder ("Program files (x86)\ThinkPad\Utilities) it freezes.

After it failed couple times I've been trying to install my original power manager 3.48 but it freezes just like 6.36.
*tried to install it with Manual Install & Silent Install - both failed.
What can I do?

I had the same issue with some sw earlier on my laptop with Win7/64 bit. That sw didn't want to be installed and needed the old .NET vesion. At the same time my system restricted old version .NET environment installtion process from M$ site or from sw installation package as I had up to date .NET. The result was I couldn't avoid that strange behaviour.

Dv7 3085dx won't power on after adding 2nd hard drive

I'm attempting to add a 2nd drive to my laptop (dv7 3085dx). The drive is a Seagate Momentus 750GB drive (ST9750420AS). I purchased the drive caddy and connector from Newmodeus. The laptop will not power on after the drive is installed in the 2nd bay. Everything is fine if the drive is disconneted.
Any ideas?

Are you absolutely sure you got the right caddy and cable from newmodeus? They sell several different ones for the dv7 series and they look similar but are not compatible with each other. I understand the reluctance to try hot-plugging it.

New SSD on the way, want to install Snow Leopard. What disc do I need?

I have a 2008 Mac Pro, currently running Leopard 10.5.8 but along with the Snow Leopard OS I have ordered a 128GB SSD that will be my primary boot drive from the moment it arrives.
Since the Mac Pro has 4 slots for hard drives I will just throw out an old 200GB SATA HD and put my current 1TB bootdrive in its place.
My SSD will be installed and I plan on installing snow leopard on it without prior erasing of my Leopard 1TB disk.
How can I even accomplish this?
It seems that (this is what I have taken from a few threads around here) I will need to have Leo installed to use the upgrade disc (which I qualify for, technically).
When I want to install Snow Leo on a fresh hard drive, is there a step in the installation that simple asks to put in our Leopard disc so the installer verifies we have it, then continues with the Snow Leopard install?

You can do what you want with either the $29 or the $9.99 upgrade disk. Leopard does not need to be installed.
To erase and install (see upgrade option below), start up to your DVD and stop after selecting your language. Use the menus to start Disk Utility and erase your drive. Quit Disk Utility and proceed with your installation. At the end, you will be able to choose to reclaim your settings, files, and apps from your original installation (on the external now) (plug in the external at the point of the last install restart).
Upgrading is a very sound process on a Mac. An upgrade is performed by installing over your existing installation from the desktop or having started from your SL DVD. All your programs, data, and settings will be present after an upgrade, but incompatible programs will be archived.

I want my computer to stay off when the power go down. But it is automatically powering on after Ac power loss even though I set in BIOS to stay off. Any ideas? Happened twice already.

That's one of the weird things.. it recognizes it maybe 10% of the time. And usually, only after I do the two-button reset. Problem is.. since it won't charge above 2%, anytime I try to do a restore or anything like that using iTunes, my device shuts off and I lose whatever progress I'd made.
So, an update... after reading through a bunch of similar complaints (there are literally 1000's of them so there's NO WAY this isn't somehow ios7 related, thanks a lot APPLE ) I decided to try a restore in recovery mode. After 3 hours and several disconnections... I ended up having to just set it up as a new iPad, as the restore did nothing. Weirdly though... as I was doing the restore in recovery mode.. I noticed I'd gotten up to a 10% charge.. higher than it's been since September, so after setting it up as a new device, I turned it off and plugged it in using the wall charger. 2 hours later and I was up to 38%. Still not great, as my iPad, before ios7 could've fully charged twice in the amount of time it took for me to now get 28% more of a charge. And that's with a fully cleaned out device.. so that really ***** and I'm now more confused than ever.
But I'm gonna leave it overnight charging and see what I come up with tomorrow. Sadly, when I paid $600 for it in February, I never expected to have to play "wait and see" with it...

KT400 333FSB Socket A MB, cannot power down after shut down

I had originally built a system with this motherboard and an AMD Athalon XP 1800 processor (don't remember exactly what it was called 1800 or 2000, the 1.6 GHz speed processor). System runs fine, no problems, except that i don't know how to get it to power off after i've done a shut down in XP Pro. I get the screen saying it's safe to turn off the machine and I keep having to press the power button to turn it off. All my other hardware in the system is realtively average (about 1-1.5 year old technology). I know there's either some kind of jumper to set on the board, or some setting in the bios, or some setting in windows to do this, I just haven't been able to find it. Help me please if you will....it would make my life easier.

I will look at these items closer when i get home tomorrow and see what can be done. since it is ruled that the bios controls this feature, i will look at that first. if the bios needs to be changed and the OS re-installed, I will do it and see if that fixes the issue. I doubt it is the soundcard, i am running a SB Audigy and using winXP Pro.
