  • Need help installing sql server 2012 on windows server 2012 core

    Hi Guys
I am having trouble installing sql server 2012 on windows server 2012 core. I am doing this on VM and my VM is not connected to internet.
This setup is part of preparing lab for sql serve exam 70-462. I would really appreciate your help.
I am including the links to the log files that were generated after installation. There are following 2 files
    Component Update and
    Detail_Global_Rules
    Thanks

    Hi
    iworkonline,
Regarding to your original question, you can work around it according to Prashanth’s post or unclick the “Include SQL Server Product Updates" checkbox when installing SQL Server on your VM.
Regarding to your second question, I make a test using TechNet Virtual Lab and everything works as expected . Below are my steps.
    1. Choose Web client after laughing the Lab.
    2. Choose SQLONE machine and “OPEN CHARMS” as follows, then search SQL Server Management Studio, use it to connect to the default instance (which has been installed in the lab).
From your description, you get error message “Device not ready”. Could you please post more details? Are you installing SQL Server 2012 on the TechNet Virtual Lab?
    Thanks,

  • How to install forms 6i runtime using windows Systems Management Server?

    Hi,
Our clinents are using oracle forms 5 application and we want to upgrade to forms 6i ( client /server ).
How to install oracle forms 6i and reports 6i runtime in multiple client machines
using windows systems management server instead of installing one by one manually.
    Regards

Here is a quick summary on why this works...
    The Problem:
The issue relies with the method and logic that MDT’s scripts use to query and validate that the proper disks, partitions and storage space reside before starting the installation of Windows.
Essentially what you have configured in the Task Sequence and the UNATTEND.xml is analyzed by the MDT scripts then a validation is completed against the hardware in which you wish to install Windows
on and if there are any errors you will be prompted with MDT Error or Warning dialogs.
The problem is that the MDT scripts use WMI to query the hard disk, partition and free space requirements for Windows, but in the case of using GPT disk, the 2nd partition (MSR) that you have to create
is hidden. The class that WMI uses for its query can’t see the MSR partition so instead of 3 partitions, it returns 2 in the query results; hence why DISK 0 PARTITION 3 doesn’t work as mentioned earlier when configured in the MDT Task Sequence.
Although the above still confuses me as to why it works with DISK 0 PARTITION 2 since the WMI query results return PARTITION IDs 0 and 1 when it should return 1 and 2…
The Windows Pre-Installation Environment however does see all 3 partitions correctly and we tried configuring in our Task Sequence to install Windows to DISK 0 and PARTITION 2 and in the UNATTEND.xml
file to install Windows to DISK 0 and PARTITION 3 but due to timing issues of the way Windows installs with MDT, did this not work for us.

  • Cannot install WINS Server Role on Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard x64

    Hi,
We are trying to install WINS Server Feature on a brand new Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard x64 (Virtual Machine). It seems that WINS is getting installed and right at the very end it gives an error 0x80070002.
We have tried rebooting the server multiple times , DNS/DHCP roles have been installed successfully as
well . It is just the WINS server feature that we are unable to install on this server.
Can someone point us to right direction. Are there any pre requisites we need to ensure before installing this feature. Are there any alternate ways to install
the WINS feature .. if yes please let us know.

The error indicates a File was not found:

    2) Is the OS fully patched and has it been rebooted since it was patched?

  • Server 2008 R2 with WSUS need to specify location for Feature install for Server 2012 and Windows 8

Having a problem where we need to add .net 3.5, amongst other things, in server 2012 and windows 8.1.  We're using WSUS on server 2008 R2, so when I go to add roles or features, I'm not able to as it tries to use Windows Update but it's set to use WSUS.
I'm aware in server 2012 gpo's that you enable the policy 'specify settings for optional component installation and component repair' in Administrative Templates>System, however that setting is not available in Server 2008 R2.
I've downloaded the templates from http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=36991 but the setting is still not there.
Any suggestions on how to do this/allow feature install with Server 2008 R2?

    Hi,
To upgrade the Administrative Templates, please run the downloaded msi file, then copy the needed admx files and adml files to the PolicyDefinitions folder.

  • Error: 0x800f0922 when trying to install NFS Server Feature on Windows 2012R2

I'm trying to install the "Server for NFS" option under the File and Storage Services role on a Windows 2012R2 server, but I keep receiving an 0x800f0922 error. I've tried the install via the GUI and Powershell. I've also tried using the
DISM utility with different source media for the install, but with the same result.   I ran "SFC /scannow"  to check for any missing files/reg keys but it returned no errors.  Any thoughts?

Thank you for the help!  I did try the suggested steps, but the issue persisted.  I was able to resolve the issue by removing software on the server that was using the NFS ports needed for successful installation of the native NFS server.
In our case it was an optional component of our backup software called"Veeam backup vPower NFS".   There is also a known issue with the Qlogic's SanSurfer software using the NFS ports.
There were entries in the System event log that tipped me off:
Event ID:      7000  The Server for NFS Open RPC (ONCRPC) Portmapper service failed to start due to the following error:

Event ID:      7001  The Server for NFS Driver service depends on the Server for NFS Open RPC (ONCRPC) Portmapper service which failed to

    1. We can make sure this feature is enabled by check in Program and Features.
    a. Go to Settings. Choose Control Panel then choose Programs.
    b. Click Turn Windows features on or off, and the user will see Windows feature window.
    c. You can enable this feature by click on .NET Framework 3.5 (include .NET 2.0 and 3.0) select it and click OK. After this step, it will download the entire package from internet and install the .NET Framework 3.5 feature.
This option requires an Internet connection.
    2. As Alberto suggested, you can use the command to enable .NET Framework 3.5 (include .NET 2.0 and 3.0) feature in offline mode to avoid interruption before run SQL Server Setup.

it give me a warning for rule "Computer domain controller" which I understand that I'm installing the SQL server in the domain controller is not recommended. I continue to install and when reach to Server Configuration, I found that SQL Server Analysis
Service account is missing where I cannot found it.
May I know is there any features that I missing or any way to make it done?
    Thank you.

IIRC (If I remember correct)Configuring Analysis service account is after you have passed the Server configuration page. Did you selected analysis service checkbox when  on feature selection page. What editoon of SQL server 2014 you are installing are
you installing express edition ? SSAS is not present in express edition

  • Unable to Install Identity Server : Error 20: Identity System Configuration

HI I am trying to setup IDM system as per below order.
    Oracle DB -> OID (two Instance OID1 & OID2 on separate RHEL5 box) -> OVD ( OVD1 & OVD2) -> OAM
I have successfully installed this setup upto OVD. But once I started Identity Server installation, installation is breaking with Error " Setup.product.install, com.oblix.installshield.ObExecWizardAction, err, There is an error. Please try again. Error 20: Identity System Configuration already exists on the specified LDAP directory server."
Earlier Few of my tea-mates Tried installing Identity server unsuccessfully thats why may be now I am not able to install it again.
Let me tell you at what point I got above error.
Identity server installation asks two time Directory server information. First time I selected option as "Data Anywhere" and after that I have given the details of OVD (IP/Ports/cn=orcladmin/password) and I got above error. I ignored that error and continue installation and second time I selected options as " Oracle Internet Directory" and gave OID details. again I got same kind of information.
So I have droped RCU and reinstalled OID ( not OVD) and tired Identity installation but no luck got same error at first stage (OVD/Data Anywhere). This time I did not continue installation.
Please help me to resolve this issue and I also want to know how can I remove Idenitity Server Information from OVD ( and OID too for future reference).
    Thanks.

    Hi Parmar,
The error message "Identity System Configuration already exists on the specified LDAP" is complaining that the schema objects required by OAM already exsit on the specified ldap. The schema update needs only to be performed once (usually the first Identity Server installation, although it can be performed manually as a standalone operation) on each ldap instance, after which subsequent installation of Identity Servers do not need that step, which can be avoided by answering "No" when asked if it is the first Identity Server to be installed.
In order to check if these schema objects are in your ldap, look at the schema for a lot of oblix* object classes and ob* attributes - if they are there then the schema has been added. OAM only supports OVD as the User ldap store, not the configuration store. When you first install an Identity Server, it is necessary to give OID (in your environment) as the configuration store, and the installation will usie the OID_oblix_schema_add.ldif file to update the OID schema. When you specify the user store as OVD, OAM adds VDE_user_schema_add.ldif to the OVD schema.
I suspect that your schema objects may be fine, but if you want to clean them from your directory you can use the *delete.ldif files supplied (all the ldif files are in identity/oblix/data/common) for the ldap servers, and start again.
    Regards,
    Colin
