Install problem "incorrect CD in drive" error

I just received Oracle Internet Developer Suite trial version and it looks like there is a problem with the CD for Oracle8i Personal Edition. I'm loading it on Win98 and I'm using version 8.1.5 for MS Win98. When the install program tries to read the CD, it tells me "incorrect CD in drive". I have checked the CD several times and it just doesn't seem to want to read it. Has anyone else had a similar problem with the install CD's? I'm thinking I should just send the CD's back and ask for another set. I bought the Internet Developer Suite from the Oracle Store.
Thanks for any advice you can offer.

hi there-
try booting to open firmware holding apple-option-o-f and then type in the following command-
eject cd (hit return)
reboot (hit return)
then i suggest you try the steps outlined in this article for the blue screen. http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106464 if nothing else works, you will have to archive and install the operating system. here is an article which outlines that procedure. http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107120. you will have to reinstall third party software and do software update afterwards, but it will in almost every instance resolve the blue screen issue. good luck to you. • Installing Problem: Adobe Anchor Service CS4 Error: Error 2.

    Hello all,
I use a 32bit Windows Seven system, and I've got a problem during the install process (Adobe Anchor Service CS4
    Error:
    Error 2. )
I used to have After Effects (installed with the same installer i'm trying to use now), then, I've formatted my PC, and since then, wasn't able to install it again.
I've tried resetting my pc, closing all aps, like the program suggests, downloaded the Support Advisor, tried both ways he told (even though the problem in the link wasn't the same as mine) and it still havent installed.
Does anyone knows how to solve it?
    Thanks

There is a piece of Adobe software that removes all traces of a previous installation, making re-installation go much smoother.
Unfortunately, I don't remember its name.  But someone will, and they might even have a link to it.

  • G4 Gigabit install problem: Thinks that DVD drive is Hd:1, ...

Ok i've little homebrew system here:
    G4 Gigabit ethernet motherboard
    Dual 450 cpu
    640MB SDRAM
TI4600 with modbios, works like charm
    120GB maxtor in UATA port
IDE DVD drive in Secondary ATA port
So i'm running into problems when installing OS, doesn't matter is is debian or OS X, still same problem:
Open Firmware thinks that my DVD drive is a HDD!
    For exsample:
    Normal debian install command:
    CD:,\install\yaboot and here's the result: can't OPEN boot cd:,\install\yaboot
Well this atleast gives a result:
HD:1,\install\yaboot but i run into parameter problems.
So how do i rename HD:1, to CD?
    And reset-nvram - set-defaults - reset-all gives me a Bad Defaults error...
    Nothing more this time :P

    Hi, s0liddi -
    Welcome to Apple's Discussions.
Perhaps the optical drive was replaced at one time? Make sure that the jumpers on the optical drive are set to Master (not to Slave or to Cable Select). On early G4s like your G4 (GE), the optical drive is bootable only when set to Master.

  • Post-Install Problem with External Firewire drive

I just installed Tiger 10.4.3 and the computer would not reboot. It would stop prior to the Starting Mac OS X progress bar and gray out letting me know that the computer needs to restart.
I finally got it to boot successfully by unplugging or turning orr my external Maxtor Firewire drive. The external drive was plugged during the install process (mistake?)
Via Software upgrade, I upgraded to 10.4.6 in the hopes that this would solve the issue. No luck and when turning the drive on, it immediately goes right to the gray screen and lets me know it will need to reboot.
Is this a known problem with a known solution? Did I FUBAR my drive somehow? Any suggestions for righting to ship?
    Thanks!

  • Install problem Error with Z drive

Our IT guys configure our machines with a Z drive as a network share.   Any ideas how to resolve the conflict with PE9 install.
    Thanks
    David

I did not pick the Z drive for install.  I always pick the C drive if given the option.  But PE9 just went to work on its own and told me it could not install to the Z drive... there is a known issue posted here along these lines, however, so I think Adobe is on to it... of course i had to install as a trial version on a second machine to test the disk burning...then I have to solve the install problem, so I can install the license on the machine with the install problem.... all a big catch 22.  Here's the link on the install issue... I get the 1327 invalid drive error:

  • I have downloaded OS X Yosemite using recovery from boot but while installing error occuring showing unable to extract essential.pkg so can't install. problem is i have already formatted my drive and dont have any os right now. please help

i have downloaded OS X Yosemite using recovery from boot but while installing error occuring showing unable to extract essential.pkg so can't install. problem is i have already formatted my drive and dont have any os right now. only the downloaded new os x yosemite in the os x base system. please help

Please try again after taking each of the following steps that you haven't already taken.
    Step 1
    Reset your computer’s PRAM.
    Step 2
If your model has user-replaceable memory, and you've upgraded the memory modules, reinstall the original memory and see whether there's any improvement. Be careful not to touch the gold contacts. Clean them with a mild solvent such as rubbing alcohol. Aftermarket memory must exactly match the technical specifications of the machine.
    Step 3
Back up all data to at least two different storage devices, if you haven't already done so. One backup is not enough to be safe. The backups can be made with Time Machine or with Disk Utility. Preferably both.
Erase and install OS X. This operation will destroy all data on the startup volume, so you had be better be sure of the backups.
    Step 4
Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store, or go to another authorized service provider to have the machine tested.

  • "Load Driver" error while installing Win7 on Satellite C665

My hard drive in my laptop died on me, so I got a new hard drive (Solid State) and am installing Windows 7 on it on my Toshiba (Satellite C665 model PSC55A)
I don't seem to be alone in encountering this error: "A required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing. If you have a driver floppy disk, CD, DVD or USB flash drive, please insert it now." However everyone seems to get it for different reasons and I've tried multiple things.
The first obvious one: Use the disk I got with the laptop. I've moved houses since I bought the laptop. Looked through every box in the house and and I think it may be lost to oblivion.
The next most obvious: Load the drivers from the Toshiba support. Tried that. Doesn't work. Not sure why, but I downloaded the drivers from Toshiba, extracted them, put them on a USB. In "Install Windows" in sees a list of all the drivers. I attempt to install all of them, it goes through them all. At the end of it it still doesn't work.
The next: Windows 7 USB/DVD Download tool. I read it would work, so I attempted it, and it didn't.
I've also read BIOS, "Disable AHCI mode for your disk controller in the system BIOS", I'm not the greatest so I may not have gotten this step right, but the only time I found AHCI in the BIOS I couldn't change it to IDE or ATA as was suggested, I could only change it to "Compatibility"
Thank you for your help, I hope I don't sound too hopeless.

    >I found AHCI in the BIOS I couldn't change it to IDE or ATA as was suggested, I could only change it to "Compatibility"
This is right.. you can switch the SATA mode to AHCI or compatible mode.
In AHCI mode the notebook requires the SATA driver in order to see the HDD or SSD drive. In compatible mode the HDD/SSD drive should be visible while system installation but the HDD/SSD drive would operate in IDE mode means the HDD/SSD drive would be slower.
But as I understood the posting, youve got problems with CD/DVD drive. Is this correct?
This really strange because the Windows Setup doesnt need any ODD (optical disk drive) drivers the installation setup contains common CD/DVD drive which controls the disk drive.
I read in other forums that this problem could be related to faulty Windows installation disk. It would be interesting to know if you can use another disk to install the system
I found also this MS knowledge base article:
[A required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing" or "A media driver your computer needs is missing" error message when you install Windows|http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2755139]
The reasons for that might be:
The installation DVD is removed during the setup process.
A low-quality DVD was used to create the installation DVD.
The speed at which the installation DVD was burned was too fast.
The DVD drive cannot read the media.
    The ISO file is corrupted.

  • I am getting an error encountered problem with the display driver for my Photoshop CS5 extended

I have Windows 7 and have used CS5 extended with no problems for quite a while now.
Last week I started up CS5 and received the error:
"Photoshop has encountered a problem with the display driver and has temporarily disabled GPU enhancements. Check the video card manufacturers website for the latest software. GPU enhancements can be enabled in the Performance panel of Preferences."
"Please close program and uninstall and re-install if problem persists"
I was able to edit, however when I went to save my work it would not do so. The following error came up.
"Could not complete the command because the extension could not be loaded"
"Could not save a copy as .....because of a program error"
I checked to make sure I have the latest driver, I also uninstalled and re-installed the program and I am still getting the errors.
    Can anyone help with this?

  • HT1926 Have the same problem as many other users: tried to update iTunes on Windows 7 today; first message "unable to locate component- MSVCR80.dll was not found" then "iTunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes - Error 7 (Windows error 1

I have the same problem as many other users: updated iTunes on Windows 7 on Jan 26, 2014 and iTunes does not open.  First message "unable to locate component- MSVCR80.dll was not found" then "iTunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes - Error 7 (Windows error 126)". When will Apple fix this? Don’t feel like uninstalling all Apple software and then re-installing it as suggested, as I am on a terribly slow internet connection while travelling in the DR Congo.

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall press on)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
    Please note:
Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.

  • When installing iTunes 10 I get an error message "Invalid Drive: F:|". ANy advice?

All I want to do is upgrade from 9 to 10 so that I can run my ipad.
When installing iTunes 10 I get an error message "Invalid Drive: F:|". ANy advice?

    Bissley,
I have received this error in the past and it is usually caused by Windows automatically changing your external drive letters when you install. There are two ways around it; first, follow the directions provided by b noir. Second, within iTunes go to Edit > Preferences > Advanced
Under the advanced options you'll see a recessed section called "iTunes Media folder location". Although you may have set this in the past it, if Windows changed your drive letters it will no longer be valid. Default is usually "C:\blah\blah\mymusic"
Changing it just a matter of clicking "change" and finding your music folder again or change your drive letter back (if it changed at all).
If Windows is changing your drive letters, it is best to set them yourself so that everytime you plug in the devices they use the letter you assigned. Here is a link for that process:
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Change-add-or-remove-a-drive-le tter
    Hope it helps.

  • Since I installed Nero 2104 I get an error message when I try to start iTunes: registry settings changed probably due to other cd/dvd burning program please reinstall iTunes, which I've done using repair option but the problem persists...?

Since I installed Nero 2014 I get an error message when I start iTunes that registry settings for importing and burning cds/dvds have changed probably due to other burning software installed please reinstall iTunes, which I've done using 'repair' option, but the problem persists. I have been able to import cds to iTunes since I installed Nero, but it won't anymore. Does anyone recognize this problem and have a solution? Thanks for any help. Using Windows 7.

I'd start with the following document, with one modification. At step 12 after typing GEARAspiWDM press the Enter/Return key once prior to clicking OK. (Pressing Return adds a carriage return in the field and is important.)
iTunes for Windows: "Registry settings" warning when opening iTunes
If you're still getting the error message (especially when you plug in the Touch), I'd check for a device filter confusion on the PC. (They can affect the connection of USB devices to a PC, as well as burning and importing CDs.) For that one, see:

  • Install drive error

Acrobat X installer (from DVD) apparently has a default drive which probably cannot be a network share.  I am trying to install and it kicks back an error concerning my H: drive which  is my network share.  How can I get it to install on C: or D:?
    Thanks,
    Ken

Did you ever install any other Adobe products from this network drive and/ or while this drive was at least connected? This kind of information being sticky usually points to something like that. The bad news is, that you probably will have to uninstall everything and reinstall from scratch including runng the Creative Suite Cleaner Tool. Other than that you could comb the Windows Registry and find the relevant key, but this could be hairy, as this must not at all be the basic install information, but a key specific to only a single CAB/ MSI file...

  • Hard Drive Failed, New one Installed, Problems of course

Hellooo Everyone This is sort of a last ditch effort to see if I can fix this myself or if I am going to have to shell out 500 dollars to get my laptop back in working order. So I have a HP dv6-6140 laptop. A few weeks ago the hard drive failed and I purchased and installed a new one, ran windows 7 and have it on my laptop. When I try to hook up an ethernet cable to download and install the drivers for the laptop the ethernet cable is not recognized it says no internet connection blah blah blah. Ok so I downloaded the drivers to a flash drive and installed some of them onto my laptop, no changes.  So I was thinking of purchasing the recovery discs which im assuming include the drivers for the notebook for 35 dollars which is paltry in comparison to what I would pay if I took it to a computer repair shop, but how do I know that would work? I dont. I am looking for ideas or anything that I may be missing. I am not computer illiterate but I am not an expert. Any advice would be greatly appreciated Thanks!
    Kelly

    Hi, Kelly:
On your model normally it is very important to install the chipset driver first and reboot before attempting to install the ethernet (wired network) driver.
The chipset drivers install some motherboard driver which I think enables the communication to the ethernet adapter.
The problem is, HP does not include the necessary chipset drivers for your model (which I assume is a HP Pavilion dv6-6140us Entertainment Notebook PC).
So...Download and install the AMD Chipset Drivers and reboot.  You want the first driver listed on the webpage.
    http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/chipset?os=Windows%207%20-%2064
Then see if the ethernet adapter works again or reinstall the ethernet driver after you reboot the PC.
The parts list indicates your model comes with a Broadcom wireless/bluetooth card.
Here are the links to the drivers you need for that...
