  • Flash Player Install Problems - Mac

I've tried installing the latest (10.3) flash player and, while it says that it successfully installed, when I go to the flash player page where it tells me what version I have (http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/) it still says 10.0.22.87 and when I try to watch anything on hulu it prompts me to install 10.3 again.
I'm on a Mac OS X Version 10.5.8 and am using the latest version of firefox.
I've tried using firefox and safari, have tried uninstalling and reinstalling, and nothing seems to work. It just says it has installed successfully and the same problems happen. I am at a loss. Any help is much appreciated!

  • Install problems mac trial version pe9

I am a FCE-user but looking around for an alternative which gives a better match with my new camera Panasonic SD700.
I just tried and retried to install Premiere E9 trialversion for Mac after a successful download. After downloading the installprocedure fails, giving the following errors:

I also downloaded Photosh El.9 trialversion for Mac. This installprocedure was successful and it's working very well.
Could anybody give me an answer or an advise on my installproblem with Pre El.9 for Mac? Thanks!
    Jan

    Hi,
I just ran the advised command. This was the result at the terminal:
Last login: Mon Dec 27 12:04:40 on console
    iMac-van-Jan-Hardiek:~ janhardiek$ mv "/Library/Fonts/NuevaStd-BoldCondItalic.otf" /tmp/
mv: rename /Library/Fonts/NuevaStd-BoldCondItalic.otf to /tmp/NuevaStd-BoldCondItalic.otf: Permission denied
    iMac-van-Jan-Hardiek:~ janhardiek$
I'm afraid that "permission denied" means that the command was not accepted. Something wrong with the Terminal?
However, I tried to reinstall PE9. Result was negative giving the following errors:

  • Install problems with PSE 8 free trial

I downloaded the free trial of PSE 8 from the Adobe site to my new computer running with VISTA.  I then was told I needed to unzip so I successfully downloaded a Winzip program which, as I guess is supposed to free up these large files.  I can't figure out what to do next.  When I go into the Winzip program, I see a bunch of unzipped files that, taken together, add up to about a 1.1 GB large download which is what PSE 8 is.  How do I proceed to install so I can finally get to the program?  Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi Ankush
    1. Download successful
    2. Launch EXE - no UAC, no AV, run as administrator
    3. As extraction reaches 100% a failure error displays (step 2 image below)
    4. Never actually get to start PSE installation. If the setup.exe file is run another error shows. Interestingly, setup.ini is empty 0 bytes.
My take is that the file for download is corrupt the .7z, possibly by the download manager or maybe in extraction.
What is very weird is that this has happened on both an old Vista install and now a fresh W7 (64bit) Pro install.
Could it be machine related? Maybe, but it would have to be a hardware conflict of some sort ...

  • Flash Player Install Problem - Mac

    Hi Folks,
I can see that this issue has been addressed many times over, but the suggested solutions I've followed aren't helping.
    First my system:
    iMac running Snow Leopard (10.6.8)
    I'm using Firefox 18.0
    What I've done so far:
Uninstalled previous versions of Flash Player
Checked the Library to delete any related Flash files (there weren't any)
Downloaded the new Player installer (several times)
Rebooted the computer (more than once)
Looked in the Contents>Resources folders for the Adobe Flash Player.pkg ... it wasn't there
    Allowed add-ons from Adobe
Looked in Preferences to enable any plug-ins or add-ons that might be related (didn't any).
I'd very much appreciate pointers to the next thing I should try.
    Thanks!

This might not help, but I remember my PPC mini (1.25gHz G4) enlightened me to the limitations of the PPC mini.
    Namely, video.
I had a favorite game, Stubbs the Zombie-Rebel Without a Pulse, and I played it for two years on my iMac. The the iMac cooked and I was left with my mini.
No more Stubbs because the video wouldn't support it. Not enough VRAM or not the right kind.
Two other games went the same route.
I didn't have Flash problems, but I was running Player 9 up until the mini died last summer.
Of all three games the mini wouldn't run, none is usable now because they don't run in Snow Leopard. I guess it's a good thing because if I was playing games all day I'd never learn anything in school.
    The Flash Player 10 requirements say 64Mb (852x480 (480p),24 fps), 64Mb (1,280x720 (720p),24–30 fps) or 128 Mb (1,920x1,080  (1080p),
24 fps) of VRAM. My G4 only had 32Mb and that killed it for gaming.
Your Apple System Profiler will indicate how much VRAM is in your mini.

    so what
    greetings from berlin

    Greetings,
It appears to be a FW problem, possibly flaky case, or drive problem.
One way to test is to Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, Test for problem in Safe Mode...
PS. Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive
    Reboot, test again.
If it only does it in Regular Boot, then it could be some hardware problem like Video card, (Quartz is turned off in Safe Mode), or Airport, or some USB or Firewire device, or 3rd party add-on, Check System Preferences>Accounts (Users & Groups in later OSX versions)>Login Items window to see if it or something relevant is listed.
Check the System Preferences>Other Row, for 3rd party Pref Panes.
Also look in these if they exist, some are invisible...

  • Problems with PSE 8.0 (Mac version)

    Hi,
I have two problems regarding PSE and Adobe Customer Service.
    First things first :
    1. When I try to run successfully installed software I receive this error:
and I don't know what to do next. Im trying to run it on Leopard Snow.
    2. I bought software from shop on adobe.com and when contacted with polish Adobe division (country I'm from) I was denied any customer assistance (even when they checked that this software is legit). They claim that I can only contact with american division. Is that right? I'm pretty much sure that I have right to call to the nearest customer service and ask for help - but maybe Im wrong.
    Best regards

  • PSE 11 Instalation problem.

I use W7, a PC.,  I am upgrading from PSE 8. I tried PSE 11 on the trial download and all worked fine. I bought the DVD for PSE 11 from Adobe directly. I then "UNINSTALLED THE TRIAL VERSION" and tried to install the new PSE 11 from the DVD. Near the end of the instalation, I keep getting: "Error was encountered while installing SHARED TECHNOLOGIES". I spent 5 hrs. following the troubleshooters sugestions, cleand the F Drive Head, downloaded Adobe Support Advisor, and everthing else it sugested, and still I get the same "Error Msg. before mentioned. I even went to Adobe Service Chat ... to no avail. I am really lost. I am not one to give up very easy, but I am really stumped!! Can anyone help me? I have never been on this forum before, so I'm not sure of proper protocol here. < email address removed by forum host> I have been around Adobe for about 4 years. Hope some kind soul will lend a helping hand. Thanks to all in advance. Boone.

    "Domnicrj23:
I was abele to open the log. It seems crazy to me, but one looks like a bunch of numbers and letters three columns wide followed by a forth columns that looks like a letter from China!! I  got the "China Version", or 4ht columns into Notepad, however no matter how I copy it from Notepad  (File or Edit or right click and copy) I can not get it to "Paste on this Page". So, I was able to highlight the last log from today's failed attempt to load PSE 11 that looks like this:PSE 11 ST1 Installer 11.0 11-21-2012 . Log.gz  Type: GZ   Size: 9KB. I then emailed it to myself. When I went to my e-mail, it was there. I then opened it with a program I had (not Winzip) and sure enough, there was the letter from "China". I also was able to send that same log to my desktop in a zip file which contained both the letters and numbers version and the "China Thing", however I was not able to open it because my Winzip would not work. Conclusion:If I can get an e-mail from you to send it to I will do so. I can send both the Chinese thing, and the Zip file? I really don't know what else to do. I spent all day today (from 8am till now, 10pm) pulling out what little hair I have left over this thing. I have two clients coming in for a small photo shoot next Wed. and I have to prepare for that. Really, I have almost given up, however QUITTING is something I never was really good at!!  Don't know if all this makes any sence to you, I tried to explain it as best I could but my mind is getting a cramp if you know what I mean. I did as you suggested for Windows updates, restarted computer, checked task mgr. to make sure nothing was running in the background, updated a patch from Adobe "Player for Embedding", and it still gives me the same "Sharing Technologies" error. What I really don't get, is when I have not made any changes to my system, why now I am having this problem. I am really sick of talking to some so called "TECH" from Adobe support that has in 6hrs. of da da da da...has not impressed me in the least bit. OH well.... that is my rant for the day. LOL. If you have any more suggestions, please let me know. I am worn out, so I will lay down a while and give this old mind a rest. I do really love PSE 11, and am completely sick over this. I just want to say that I am so very thankful for all you have done, and I am in no way wanting to impose on you. If you got an idea, let me know. Thanks again, and I am sorry that this is so long, and maybe confusing also. Even I am tired of me. Thanks again, Boone

You really don't have to apologize for anything. To error is human and mistakes makes you nothing but more human). I know you probably would be tired of putting all the effort for installing PSE, but all I ask for a little more patience.
First of all, for reading the log file, you need a decompression software. So you can follow following steps
Use a decompression utility such as Winzip to uncompress the .gz file. Once uncompressed, you will have a new file without the .gz extension. The filename could now be something like "Elemens STI Installer 1.0 11-21-2012.log."
Open the .log file using notepad
Copy the whole log and paste it here.
*Note: You can click on the text "Winzip" to go directly to the download page of Winzip. You don't need to buy winzip, even the free version would do.
Also, you might want to update your windows with latest updates as that too sometimes messes up with the shared technologies. Don't forget to restart your system again in case your windows updates.
    Thanks for having the patience

You need to force quit Safari.  In Windows, just closing a window will shut down the program, but in a Mac, you have to physically shut down the program.  It's open, but there are no active windows.  To force quit, just hit Command-option-esc, highlight Safari, quit it.
If Safari is not open, then you have an issue with Microsoft Office, and you should take your question there.  This community is for the MacBook Pro hardware.

  • Mac Os X Server Install problems

First off I have two hard drives in my computer. its a saw tooth g4 mac with 512mb of ram over 4 slots. there is no network hooked up yet
On the main drive I have an install of mac osx 1.2 server and it boots up to a point and says startup complete, so what do I do from there?
I do not even have the network line pluged in. I am wanting to have this system netboot and netinstall my older macs that are pleauged with broken disk drives,I need also a guide on how to run open directory with the system.
my clients are 10.2 and 10.3 system with some os9 boxes aswell

I feel your pain - I have had basically the same experience. I have been stunned at how hard 10.5 Server is to get going.
In the end I did an advanced setup as I never could get the standard config to work at all. There are a couple of posts in the Install section that helped immensely - basically run the advanced install first. Don't configure any services yet. Then run Software update until you get nothing more to update - you'll probably need to update 3 or more times until you are done.
Then set up DNS and make sure you can resolve and reverse lookup your server on your network - this seems to be THE key to making everything else work. Once basic DNS is working, then configure the multiple primary zones you will need for each website to work correctly. Watch out for the reverse lookup zone entries getting changed though.
Now you can configure Web services and host your multiple Websites and MySQL etc. I cannot stress enough that you really, really need to download and read the manuals from the Apple Support site. Its a lot of reading and you will have to fill in some blanks as there's not many concrete examples. Apple is you read this please add a sample setup manual that applies to a "simple" configuration that would be repeatable to include Mail, Website, DNS, DHCP, Firewall, iCal Server, iChat Server.
Use this thread to get going - Antonio Rocco's intsructions worked for me...

  • Problem in PSE 12 with moving tool

Hi all, I have a problem in PSE 12: if I move something (e.g. text) with the mouse, it always jumps back to the original place. Does someone now a solution?

    Hi,
We sincerely apologize for the problem that you have been facing while using a trackpad with Photoshop Elements 11 & 12 on Mac OSX 10.10 (Yosemite).
We have been actively working with Apple to resolve this problem as quickly as possible. We're hopeful this will get completely resolved in an upcoming update of Yosemite(MAC 10.10).
In the meanwhile, you have two options to work around this problem:
    1. Option1: Use a mouse instead of the trackpad
    2. Option2: Install a plug-in which should workaround the problem
    Plug-in installation instructions:
    1. Close Photoshop Elements
    2. Download this zip file to a location you can easily find (e.g. your desktop)
    3. Unzip the file, WhiteWindowWorkaround.plugin, and move it to the Plug-In folder:
    • For Elements 12 – //Applications/Adobe Photoshop Elements 12/Support Files/Plug-Ins/
    • For Elements 11 - //Applications/Adobe Photoshop Elements 11/Support Files/Plug-Ins/
You can verify the plug-in is installed by launching the Photoshop Elements Editor and choosing Help > System Info... Scroll to the bottom of the text in the dialog and look for the plug-in name "WhiteWindowWorkaround.plugin".
Note: This plugin is a temporary workaround and should be used until this issue is addressed in Mac OSX 10.10 (Yosemite). Please remove this plugin once the issue is officially resolved by Apple.
If you are using a stylus in conjunction with a trackpad, you might see issues with your trackpad. Workaround in this particular case is to use mouse instead of the trackpad.
    Hope this helps!

  • OS 9 Install problem on imac G3

    hello all,
i have an OS install problem on my imac . I just finished formatting the drive . the drive is
    paritioned :
    1st partition = HD1: 5.5 Gb
    2nd partition = HD2 : 2.5 Gb
    3rd partition = HD3 : 110+ Gb
Then, in order to save some time ( i thought ) , i tried directly install os 9 from an imac
DV CD , on HD1 : i thought i d be quicker so i would have to start with os 8.5 then upgrade to 8.6 and etc .
that turned out to be a bad idea. the system install warned me it couldnt install Air port because the hardware wasnt compatible . it gave me two options : either ignore this message or quit . i chose ignore : again certainly a bad choice .
After the install was finished , the mac wouldnt start on HD1 . the sytem install is apparently incomplete ,or anycase it doesnt work .
i then installed os 8.5 from original imac tray load install CD on HD2 , and it works fine .
now the question is : what should i do with my bad os9 system ? i need an operating system on this partition. perhaps i can trash it and reinstall mac os8.5 on it ? i hope there is a way to get out of this without formatting the drive again .
    thanks for any advice .

about the os9 CD : it is a retail verson , only not of the same imac model .
That is not a retail version of OS 9. A retail version of OS 9 has no dependencies on any model of Mac. You have a machine specific disc which probably won't work with your iMac.
1/ i dont know how to reformat a partition without formatting the entire drive . perhaps you can explain .
In OS X you use Disk Utility and only select the partition that you want to reformat. It has been ages since I used OS 8 so I'm not sure if it is even possible using "Drive Setup".

Any ideas what do i have to do?

Well, let's hope that nothing was jiggled out of place when you were installing the new hard drive. Your optical drive may just be out of alignment or the disc you have is "dirty." Get a lint-free cloth and some rubbing alcohol, then clean the disc as thoroughly as you can starting from the center and working outward in a concentric circlular motion. See if that helps. In particular clean the inner portion well.
If this does not help, then you have a problem. You have opened the computer yourself. That action voids all support from Apple. If you take the computer in for service the store may refuse to service the computer. This is not related to your now expired warranty.

Photoshop Elements 11 installed on Mac Mini OS X 10.9.5. Application running successfully on bot main user and administrative accounts for considerable time with no warning messages. When established a new user account on same computer and try to call up elements receive message “Some ot the application components are missing from the Application directory. Please reinstall the application.” How do I correct this problem without disturbing application in main user account?

Brooks lansing if you create a new Administrator account does the same issue occur?  If so then it is likely that there is a file permission failure and file permissions have been set for the existing Users instead of the groups they belong to.
Have you removed and reinstalled Photoshop Elements 11?  This may reset the file permissions to the correct state to allow it to work under new accounts.

  • 10.4.11 combo update install problem

Has anyone else had trouble installing the combo update from 10.4 to 10.4.11?? Mine almost finishes and says it encounters an unknown error and cannot finish the install. Says it moves the update to trash and says try again from the finder...
    HELP!!

    Updating
Certain steps appear to minimize the risk of an update producing problems.
Number one is to make sure you have a bootable clone backup of your computer in case you do need to back out of it again. This is the only guaranteed way of not having to worry about the results of an update.
Some like to boot from their installer discs or an external backup and verify (and if necessary repair) their internal drives as well as drive permissions. This is done with Disk Utility. You can verify a drive while booted from the same drive but sometimes this produces spurious errors. Repairing a drive (if necessary) has to be done while booted from another disk.

You can also go to the step of booting into safe mode to do the install.

[What is Safe Boot, Safe Mode? (Mac OS X)|http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107392]
[Safe Boot takes longer than normal startup|http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107394]
I like to download the update onto my computer and install it from there rather than let Software Update do it. I know a few people who had problems with doing the update via software updater found a manual install to work.
    Repair permissions again afterward.
It helps to only install one update at a time and to run the computer for a while to make sure it is behaving well.
The more cautious even like to unplug third party peripherals (see [comment by BDaqua|http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=9040746#9040746]).
