Install Problem: No Leopard in store Oct. 26.
With all this build up you would think Apple would have a system that assures the product gets to the stores. Unfortunately, in this little corner of the world we are off the radar and the Event was cancelled a few hours before, due to no Leopard showing up. Bummer.

I was able to reformat the drive back to Mac OS Extended (Journaled) and Apple Partition map via the iMac.
And as you suggested, I put the iMac in Target Disk Mode with the Leopard disk installed. I even got the iBook to recognize the Install Disk; however, upon selecting it, it would freeze at the gray screen with the Apple logo.
I put it away for several hours and decided to try the original Panther install disks. I put the Panter Install Disk #1 into the iBook optical drive and did the restart-option think and selected the install disk. Lo' and behold, I actually got past the apple logo and spinning dial into the start-up screen for installation where I am asked to choose a language! This is the farthest I have got in 24 hours! I proceeded to select English and continue . . . but then the system froze.
After a few more attempts, I am getting less and less progress. It seems that giving the iBook a break from troubleshooting seemed to help; repeated successive attempts only seemed to freeze me at consecutively earlier steps.
I'll try again in the morning with the Panther disks.

Jam Pack 4 appears in the list of Instrument Packs after installing. However no instruments appears in any f the of instrument categories (Horns, Woodwinds etc.. )
The fiiles appears in
Library/Application Support/GarageBand/Instrument Library/Sampler/Sampler Files/Violins 1
as one example of an instrument from Jam Pack 4
I also have the .exs files under
Library/Application Support/GarageBand/Instrument Library/Sampler/Sampler Instrumeny/Violins 1 Legato.exs

I tried installing SL on my 2007 iMac, and about 25% of the way from the progress bar, the machine restarted. Then it appeared to continue, but after a few minutes I got a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark telling me its not possible to install SL on this disk.
I quit the installer and restarted the machine with the mouse button pressed, I got this idea from another thread with a similar issue, to eject the SL disk.
The machine has now restarted and everything seems to be back to normal, with my old Leopard OS.
Why does this happen:? How can I install SL?
JUsually this message arises when the partition is not GUID. I recall one case like your's where the message was received, and the partition was GUID. In this case, the OP solved the problem by bootably cloning Leo to an external drive, installing Sno on the external, testing the new installation thoroughly, and then cloning it back to his internal. If you take this approach, note that you will end up without a Leo installation to go back to unless you partition the external and make two bootable clones of your Leo install--one on each partition. Or unless you have a TM complete backup on one partition.

I had this imac 27" two years back(leopard 10.5.8) and no problem was encountered so far! (thanks 4that),i always made an update as far to snow leopard 10.6.8. Unfortunately when i did some application /downloading,the system was off and when i turn it On the logo of an apple only came.So what i did is to start all over again,now i am two years old back with Leo-10.5.8,My problem is i cannot install my snow leopard,it reads that i have to clean tha disc which i did and thru utility disc.Any help please and i really appreciate to every1 helping me to solve the problem.I will keep in touch.

My problem is i cannot re-install my SNOW LEOPARD that i purchased from retail store..proceeded to install in my imac but everytime it ends with 'FAILED-pls clean the disc" i did the cleaning but still the same,:installed failed!-The installer could not copy the necessary support file",i tried booting from the disc holding C down but no luck at all. I have Snow leopard, 10.6.8 on my iMac, I just tried to install Lion from the App store, but during proces, the install stops after one minute saying: "software might be damaged". I downloaded the software again, same thing. What must I do to install Lion? I have still 487GB free.
Quit all other programs and open Disk Utility
Select your "MacintoshHD" drive on the left and indented and click Erase > Erase Free Space > Zero and let it complete.
Also run First Aid > Repair Disk and permisisons.
If Repair disk gives a error, you have a bigger problem, if repair permisisons fixes and completes, even if it fixes the same thing twice if you click it again, it's ok. Apple just changed things.
You should be able to download the file sucessfully this time, if not, take it to another location with better/faster internet.

I have problem installing my snow leopard
I have problem installing my snow leopard. it says that installing will continue after restart of my computer. But after it has restared, no installation happened. also it keeps ejecting the cd. What am i going to do? I've tried so many times.
as of now, my OS is 10.5.8. I wanted to upgarde it to 10.6 so that i can install the latest itunes.
But, i cant install my snow leopard. it keeps happening and happening again.
My laptop keeps ejecting the dvd. Sometimes i was able to open the dvd and click install. But after I reached "46 minutes remaining", the window will show that the installation will continue after restarting. and when its restarted, the installation did not continue. and im still with 10.5.8.

I let it go for 9 hours and then tried rebooting. Reinstalling OS X Without Erasing the Drive
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Reinstalling OS X Without Erasing the Drive
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility and press the Continue button. After Disk Utility loads select the Macintosh HD entry from the the left side list. Click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If Disk Utility reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit Disk Utility and return to the main menu.
Reinstall OS X: Select Reinstall OS X and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

I have been having problems downloading apps with my cellular data. I try installing apps from the app store and when it starts loading it just stays loading for a while but all of a sudden it loads all the way and then it restarts. It goes back to waiting

Snow Leopard install problems...help please
I'm trying to do a fresh install of snow leopard on my Mac mini. My hd has been formatted but I'm having 2 problems. First if I try and run the install from SL ( that I have installed on an external drive) the install goes great but once I get to the restart the install doesn't continue, it acts as if I'm trying to start a new install.
If I boot directly from the install DVD the install just hangs at 31 minutes remaining, this happens about 1 minute into the install.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.Any ideas?

Can't install firmware - OSX Mavericks App Store Update...
App Store locked up so I had to force quit and now I can't install firmware updates.

I'm not sure if I have to clear out and delete a temporary download file

How do I install Mavericks from the App Store if I erased my HD?
My mbp has been acting funny and slow, and I think I may have had some corrupted files. I have my computer backed up to time machine, and additionally I saved all my important files, photos etc to the external HD before I began. Then I erased my HD. Everything I read indicated that since I had installed mavericks previously (and legitimately), I would be able to do so again from disk utility after I finished erasing the HD so long as I had a working Internet connection. Well, I do, but now when I click "Reinstall OS X" I get a screen with Mavericks and then an error message saying, "this is not a supported method of installing the operating system/ please run Install OS X Mavericks.app that you downloaded from the app store." But I erased my hard drive! I really don't want to use my time machine backup because I'm worried some of my files are corrupted, and wouldn't that just put me back in the exact same position?
For the record, it's a late 2010 MBP that originally had Snow Leopard. My boyfriend upgraded it to Mavericks for me a few weeks ago.Clean Install of Snow Leopard
Be sure to make a backup first because the following procedure will erase
the drive and everything on it.
1. Boot the computer using the Snow Leopard Installer Disc or the Disc 1 that came
with your computer. Insert the disc into the optical drive and restart the computer.
After the chime press and hold down the "C" key. Release the key when you see
a small spinning gear appear below the dark gray Apple logo.
2. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue
button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
After DU loads select the hard drive entry from the left side list (mfgr.'s ID and drive
size.) Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window. Set the number of
partitions to one (1) from the Partitions drop down menu, click on Options button
and select GUID, click on OK, then set the format type to MacOS Extended
(Journaled, if supported), then click on the Apply button.
3. When the formatting has completed quit DU and return to the installer. Proceed
with the OS X installation and follow the directions included with the installer.
4. When the installation has completed your computer will Restart into the Setup
Assistant. Be sure you configure your initial admin account with the exact same
