Install problems 9i on Linux/390
Hi,
firstly, apologies if this is a duplicate post. I'm sure I posted yesterday (7/8/02)
but now I cant find the post!
I'm attempting to install the developer release of 9i for Linux
for S/390 onto Suse SLES7 for S/390.
I get to the point where I try to create the database by typing: -
sqlplus '/ as sysdba'
and I get the following message: -
oracle@CMGLinux390:~/install/mkdb > cd $ORACLE_HOME/dbs
oracle@CMGLinux390:~/dbs > sqlplus '/ as sysdba'
sqlplus: error while loading shared libraries: libclntsh.so.9.0: cannot load shy
oracle@CMGLinux390:~/dbs >
I've seen similar errors for red hat on Wintel or other hardware,
but nothing that refers to S/390. Can anyone help?
Hi,
Is the libclntsh.so.9.0 in $ORACLE_HOME/lib directory? If not, you should try to relink the Oracle installation.
$ ls $ORACLE_HOME/lib/libcln*
No such a file or directory
$ relink
parameters: all, oracle, network, client, client_sharedlib interMedia,
precomp, utilities, oemagent, ldap
$ relink all
(I have never even seen Linux on OS390 so I have no idea if it works the same way it works on Intel...)

Problem with oracle listener linux/390
Hi everybody,
I've installed oracle 9i developer release on linux/390.
The database seems ok, but when i try to connect from other
machines i get:
Ora-03113: End of file on communication channel
The failure occurs after the connection is established.
I've read in some oracle faqs, this cause may be a database
server error.
I've checked all configuration files, but found nothing.
Can someone help me?
Best regards,
ChrisHello,
I have problem with installing Oracle in Linux/390 (7.0 version).
Could you tell me what is your version (7.2 ?) and when did you
find it ? (URLs)
Thanks a lot -

Folks,
Hello. I just start to install 4-nodes RAC system using VMplayer 3. The host Operating System is Windows 7.

Because my computer's hard disk does not have enough space, I install the Guest OS Oracle Linux 6.2 into a external hard disk. But its speed is very slow. It has taken more than 24 hours by now, but still don't finish installing Oracle Linux 6.2.
Do any folk understand what's going on ? Is there any problem on Oracle Linux 6.2 ?user8860348 wrote:

Problem installing Oracle 11i in Linux
I have been trying to install 11i in Redhat Linux. I followed the documentation provided by Oracle, by installing Java SDK 1.3, by creating stage area for installation. However, when I go to the selected directory u01/...../RapidWiz and type rapidwiz, I get the message "command not found". I checked the directory and there exists the command. (just to see if it works in Windows, I popped the first Cd and restarted on another machine.. it came back with all the welcome screen etc.,). Can someone help me... Pretty Please!!!!!!!!!
How can I install Oracle apps using downloaded Oracle Apps 11.5.10.2 files? All the files in .zip format. The 'Rapid Install Start Here - Disk 1' is composed of 7 separate zip files (1 of 7 ... 7 of 7). Do I need to unzip the the files and burn DVD-R's first to compile them by disk?
Is there another way?
Has anyone tried installing from downloaded install files?
Please help. -
Ok, not sure what is going...
I installed Oracle 11g on Linux. Everything was working, I could access the database via Enterprise Manager, then I re-boot and EM no longer works, I figured this has something to do with some script to make it auto start at boot, so I searched the internet and found a script and made sure that it matched my paths and version numbers.
as a oracle user when I type
oracle@dragonfly:~$ echo $ORACLE_HOME
/u01/app/oracle/product/11.1.0/db_1
but
oracle@dragonfly:~$ echo $ORACLE_SID
I get a blank, would like to learn where to do the setting for oracle SID, is it in /etc/profile ? my SID is orcl
in /etc/oratab I put a Y for this db instance.
Anyways, when I try to manually start EM, I get these problems:
root@dragonfly:/u01/app/oracle/product/11.1.0/db_1/bin# ./emctl status dbconsole
Environment variable ORACLE_SID not defined. Please define it.
ok, let me define it:
root@dragonfly:/u01/app/oracle/product/11.1.0/db_1/bin# export ORACLE_SID=orcl
root@dragonfly:/u01/app/oracle/product/11.1.0/db_1/bin# ./emctl status dbconsole

Oracle Enterprise Manager 11g is not running.
Logs are generated in directory /u01/app/oracle/product/11.1.0/db_1/dragonfly.kodiaktechnical.net_orcl/sysman/log
then I type it again:
./emctl start dbconsole
and I see this...

check the directory where it's supposed to be, I think you'll find it's not there.
You only need IA to start/stop the database from oem and schedule jobs.
I use OEM to control my instance and run performance packs etc, IA isn't needed for this. -
Error while installing OWB on Redhat Linux
Hi,
I installed Oracle database on Linux , while installing oracle i got error
error while writing to directory /tmp/OraInstall<date> please ensure that this directory is writable and has atleast 60mb of disk space. Installation can not continue
then i did some thing and it went thru, now i am trying to install the OWB again i am getting the same error and i was browsing net past 2 days for a solution but i din't get one
while installing oracle i have not made any notes, that was my mistake
Please suggest me the possible solution or the Document which can guide me
Thanks in Advance
SureshHi,
the problem is the logfile for the installation. Every oracle installtion writes a log file with this name in a predefined directory. Make the directory /tmp writable for oracle and extend the disk quota at least 60 MB.

I think that Feedbak forum is not the best place for this problem.
You should ask this into
=> Installation Forum : Database Installation
or
=> Linux Forum : Generic Linux
Anyway, you can find an install doc here :
