Install problems for Reader X on Windows XP

It begins to install, but says that it needs to update some files that are in use. Says to close the files (always internet explorer) and click retry. I close all open programs and click retry and it won't get past it.... continues to say its open. Also, now I can't view PDFs online, and when I try to print a PDF it says that the document can not be printed and that there wasn't any pages selected to print.
Any help would be much appreciated!

After some more leg work, I found the answer...
I restarted my computer without any drivers running and in VGA mode. I then downloaded Adobe 10. Restarted with drivers running and viola! It works!

I am trying download driver for hp printer .  I download the HP solutions program and try and run it and nothing happens ?  I do not have the original install disk?   Is it due to settings on my pc?   I have a Dell dimension 5100 desktop pc.   I do have a HP deskjet 6988 installed on the pc currently.

    Hi @stickscurran
If by HP solutions program, you mean Printer Install Wizard, it is only for Windows 7, 8 and 8.1. you can however, download and install your software using the following link; HP Deskjet Full Feature Software and Drivers.
If this does not work, please provide me with any applicable details, such as error messages and/or screenshots. How to take and post a screenshot on HP Support Forum.
Please let m know if you are able to complete the install successfully! Thanks.

  • How to resolve some install problems for 7.02 on Windows 7 64 bit

This is a short re-cap of some of the issues I came across when installing NSP 7.02 on Win 7 system. I'm posting it here rather than writing a blog - there are numerous excellent guides already out there, but the particular issues below meant I had to collect info from several other posts, search other forums, and also do a bit of research on my own. Therefore, I hope that this post can be useful for those who - like me - had to resort to searching the forums... sometimes in vain.
Installing the 7.02 Sneak Preview on a 64-bit system is not that straightforward, but "doable". I've just spent the weekend successfully installing on two systems; an HP Touchsmart laptop (i3 processor) and my trusty Dell desktop (Core 2). Both machines have 4Gb RAM, barely sufficient, but the thing is up and running. At last.
Compared to earlier Sneak Previews, or the 32-bit varieties, this is no walk in the park. Definitely not like the first 2004s, which ran as smoothly as a knife through butter (at least on XP).
Here are my own tips, based on the issues I experienced:
Phase 5: Failure to start MAXDB instance - installer reports no MAXDB software installed. Curiously, this happened on one of the machines, not the other. Even weirder, it happened on the machine that had previously had a MAXDB installation (which was wiped clear before installing).
I got around this one by manually installing MAXDB. The steps were:
Launch the 64-bit MAXDB installer - sdbinst.exe - from the 64-bit MAXDB directory (NOT the 32 bit, which won't run on your 64 bit system anyway). It's in one of the sub-directories - search for it. Use it to start a manual install of MAXDB, and select the "tutorial" database. This will install a sample (256Mb) database on your system. Now, re-start the miniSAP installer, and you should pass phase 5 without issues. (See info below on the STATISTIC file!)
ABAP import issues: If the ABAP import step fails, with at least one of the 37 import jobs failing, this could help:
Break off the installation. Go to the sapinst_dir\...\ADA\CENTRAL directory, and delete all .TSK files and their related .TXT counterparts. These are (to my knowledge) created during the ABAP import, based on the DB schema files that are used for the ABAP import. If you remove these (or at least the ones that caused the import to fail), it will re-apply them when you re-start the installation and select the option to use existing installation.
Also remember to delete the "statistic" file in the same directory - it will generate an error if you do not get rid of it before re-starting the installation.
Usually, this is enough to ensure the ABAP import works.
    Install license and developer key:
The system calls itself "SAP-INTERNAL", not "DEMOSYSTEM". This is somewhat confusing, as the NSP license key you request from SAP will not load due to different installation names. The workaround is to DELETE all temporary (pre-installed) licenses. Mark them, right-click, then delete. Make sure there's NOTHING left in SLICENSE, then upload the file you got from the license request page (NSP, 2004s Service pack 9 or higher). This should work.
Only now can you use the developer access key of BCUSER.
Remember, every time you re-start the installation and select the "use old" option, you have to remove the mentioned "statistics" file from the ADA\CENTRAL directory, since it keeps track of what has been done so far.
This version seem to suck resources like no other sneak preview has done before. I'm looking forward to installing it on a new, powerful machine - just have to get around to ordering it first...

unable to install itunes for new computer with windows 8
states this app unable to run on this PC

    Hello jgrn76,
It sounds like you are getting an error stating that the iTunes installer cannot be run on your computer. I would try downloading the 64 bit version of iTunes from here:
    iTunes 11.1.3 for Windows (64-bit)
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1615
If issues persist when trying to install it, I would try running through the steps in the article named:
Issues installing iTunes or QuickTime for Windows

Otherwise, would you mind elaborating a bit on what the error message says, word for word?

    Hi,
To answer your last question first, the Turbo Boost Technology Driver is only intended for processors with an integrated GPU - the i7-720QM does not have this.
More difficult is why you observe no Turbo Boost on AC Power.
    Try the following.
Shut down the notebook.  Tap away at f10 as soon as you start the notebook to enter the bios menu.  Press f5 to load the defaults ( this is sometimes f9, but the menu at the bottom will show the correct key ), use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.  Press f10 to save the setting and again use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.
When windows has reloaded, download and install the Turbo Boost Technology Monitor from Intel on the following link and see what this shows.

  • Errors installing update for Reader

I tried to install an update on my PC for Reader and received an error msg 1321 or 1301 about authority to access a file location. I uninstalled and reinstalled (tried) and now I have a blue screen and windows will not open.  I've tried several troubleshooting ideas and now will have to resort to taking it in to be looked at.  Now I have a msg on laptop to install an update.  I'm a little hesitent to do this.  Any ideas?

I do not think that an Adobe Reader update can cause a blue screen (BSOD); that is usually caused by a much heavier issue.  Did you install the update under an Adminitrator user?  If not, that could cause access violation errors.  But these could also have been caused by a damaged hard disk.
I wouldn't worry about the update on your laptop; go ahead and install it.

  • SQL Developer install problems for Windows 7 Home edition

    Hi there,
I understand Windows 7 64-bit is not supported for oracle 11gR2 but I installed it anyway.
    This is not my problem.
I am trying to install SQL Developer and am getting this error when I click on the set up:
Unable to launch the Java Virtual machine, located at path:
    C:\Program Files(x86)Java\jdk1.6.0_21\bin\msvcr71.dll
When I check the version of my java it is correctly displaying 1.6.0_21 for my 64 bit.
I read that you need the 32 bit one installed as well and I do. In my Program Files there is a java and a \jdk1.6.0_21 folder. In the bin directory it does not have this .dll:
    msvcr71.dll
Is that the problem, because i have heard of other people getting sql developer working on their Windows 7 home laptops but they are old posts and I'm not getting any reply.
I also changed the Environmental variable for the path, such as:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jdk1.6.0_21
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jdk1.6.0_21\bin
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jdk1.6.0_21 /bin
and none of the 3 above worked for me either.
    Any suggestions are appreciated!

I unzipped the sql developer download to C:\Windows and it unzipped fine. I went into my folder of sql developer, double clicked the sql developer.exe and it asked for the path for java. I clicked Browse and the default was C:\Program Files(x86)\Java\jdk1.6.0_21\bin so I chose the java from this folder. It accepted the argument, tried to start sql developer, and came up with the same error, so something is still not right that I am not understanding??

  • Reader 2.0 install problems for HP iPAQ Voice Messenger

I am having no luck installing any version of Adobe reader on my phone. I am not the "IT" guy that I would like to be but have installed programs on my phone before without a glitch.
My steps so far: downloaded Reader 2.0 for PPC 2003 to my PC. Connected my phone via ActiveSync. Double clicked on the icon and followed the instructions. My phone asks me if I want to install and I press "yes". It then tells me that this pr0ogram is not intended for this device.
    Any help or ideas?

What is the specific IPAQ Voice Messenger model number that you have? The hw6900? Can you confirm that you have a pocket pc (touch screen) and not a smartphone (no touch screen)?
If you have a pocket pc and have already attempted to install the software to your device with no success, you can find a .CAB file on your computer that you can copy to your pocket pc and install from there. See this link for more information about how to do this:
    http://frommypocket.pocketprimer.com/2008/01/11/adobe-reader-for-pocket-pc.aspx
If you have a Smartphone, then you will not be able to install Adobe Reader for Pocket PC to your device.

  • Installing problem for 8.6 to 9.1

    Hi everyone,
after i installed 9.1 onto my iMac G3 CRT slot-loading and original G3 CRT, the computer refused to respond to keyboard and mouse controls. the mouse works after the installation and 9.l was successfully installed however i could not click on anything. thus i could not shut down properly and was resorted to pulling the power cord out and plugging it back in to restart the computer.
when i inserted the 9.2 update CD, the same mouse problem occurred. i could not click anything and no icons appeared on the CD although i was successful in installing 9.2 on other G3s. i've tried pressing C after i plugged the power cord in and booted up the computer but the "computer did not shut down properly" error would appear and could not update the computer.
is there a solution to this problem. i have this issue with around 2-3 other G3s too. i don't know why this issue occurred now. any advice or suggestion is appreciated since i have a deadline to meet for setting up these computers.
    thanks

The time would appear in the menu bar. No clicking involved.
The battery is for the pram maintenance. If the pram battery is bad then all sorts of problems will ensue.
When I have a mac with a bad pram battery the ?? mark shows up, or a blank screen, or nothing. No boot from hard drive, no cd boot, nothing. If I can get it to boot then the time is off and stuff does not work the way it is supposed to.
It could be that the pram batteries are bad on your macs or that the donor of the macs realized their value in giving them away. I don't know. I have a couple of old computers that I have to take out the battery, disconnect the power, and let them sit overnight to get them to boot. Leave them running and they are fine. Shut them down and all sorts of problems arise. Old equipment is that way.
When trouble shooting computers with problems like this it is a process of making sure that the starting points are good and then testing from there. There is no magic bullet.
    Sorry.

  • Install problem with Quicken 2012 on Windows 8.1

I have two new computers with Windows 8.1. One is an HP laptop on which I had no trouble installing and using Quicken 2012. Now I want to install the same program on my Lenovo desktop. It is in the form of an exe file downloaded from Amazon. When I execute
it (as Administrator) the installer gets as far starting to disassemble the files for a second or two and then just disappears. I get no error indication, no message and find no trace of the installation files. I don't know what temp file is being used. I
find nothing in the logs either. I have tried the same file used on the HP and even re-downloaded from Amazon.
Other than this the computer runs fine. I have successfully installed half a dozen other programs with no problems.
Quicken 2012 is listed as being compatible with windows 8.
I would appreciate any suggestions on how to further troubleshoot this problem.

    Hi,
The installation issue can be caused by several reasons, please try following steps to check the issue:
First, let's boot into Clean boot mode to avoid 3rd part conflict:
How to perform a clean boot to troubleshoot a problem in Windows 8, Windows 7, or Windows Vista
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135
Then, try to unzip the exe file and install the msi package:
Please refer to the steps here:
    http://quicken.intuit.com/support/help/downloading--installing--upgrading-and-converting/error-1911-or-1935-installing-of-quicken/GEN83111.html
If the issue still persists, please provide event log as below for our research. Please upload it to a file sharing service like Onedrive or "Rapidshare" and put a link to them in your reply.

  • Install Problems for PSE8

Our small business recently bought PSE8 for windows.  We attempted to install on the first office computer, when the serial # was inputed, it gave an error saying that it was an invalid serial number.  Called the company and found out we needed to uninstall trial version.  We did that, and restarted computer.  Now, neither of our office computers will read the disc. When it is in the first computer, the autorun will not work, and it will not allow us to open it manually. When it is in our second computer, the autorun will not work, and when we try to run it manually, the computer says to insert a disc in the drive (like there is no disc at all in the drive).   We thought it was the disc, and took it to a computer in another part of the building, and the autorun worked!  What could be wrong, that it will not run on our computers?  We have Windows XP, and our systems should be up to date. Any suggestions would be helpful and appreciated!  Thanks!

  • I'm having HotSync problems for my PalmZ22 on Windows 7 Computer

I downloaded all of the data that came with my Palm Z22 but the hotsync does not work. a message that says "The selected port, COM3, is not availble at this time. HotSync Manager will open the port when it becomes available." always pops up when i click on the hotsync manager icon after 10-30 minutes of me staring at the screen. when i go under setup, there are no other ports to swich to and when i hit ok the same message pops up immediately. i unplugged everything in my ports but the same thing happens and it seems like no one else has this problem. what is a "COM3" and how do i fix the problem i have?
    Post relates to: Palm Z22

Hello lis2013 and welcome to the Palm forums.
"COM" is the short name of a serial communications port, most commonly found on non-Mac computers.  3 refers to the third COM port.  Most new computers only have 1 COM port, if any, on them these days.  USB has by and large replaced serial com ports.  So that's the long and short of COM ports.
You'll want to go into the HotSync Manager on your computer and make sure you are setup for USB HotSync not COM ports.
And, while we're on the subject of Windows 7, USB, and HotSync, you'll want to read this thread on how to HotSync your Palm Z22 with your computer.
