Install pure-ftpd after initial installation

Seems like this should be an easy one, but can't find an explanation.
I have an OES 11 SP1 server up and running. I didn't install ftp
during the original OES install. What is the easiest, least disruptive
way to add it now? Is there a command line method?

I installed just Photoshop cs4 on my computer a few weeks ago. I then decided that I wanted to install flash and learn how to use it. Unfortunately it won't install... anything.
It just fails.
Any ideas why? Anyone experience this?

Should definitely not happen. Anyway, it would be a good idea to use the CS4 Clean Utility. this will unregister existing installs and should allow you a "blind" overwrite install of new components. Just be aware, that it may reset some settings in Bridge et al by overwriting config data 'cos naturally it will loose all knowledge of them when you use the utility.

Rename a Data Integrator server after initial installation

Is it possible to rename the Data Integrator server after initial installation?

The easiest thing to do is running the server manager before the migration and remove the repository assoziation or the entire jobserver. Same with the management console.
Then move the server.
And recreate the jobserver and webadmin entry.
In case it is too late for the first step, simply truncate AL_MACHINE_INFO table deleting all jobserver/webadmin links and then resync those.

Installing Sybase SQL Anywhere license keys after initial installation.

Hi,
I installed Sybase SQL Anywhere 16 before I actually received the valid License Key. So during the installation I've used the license key provided by the instructions. Afterwards, I've received the purchase license key. Do i need to reinstall SQL Anywhere all over? Or can it just continue to function on that license key? From what i understand, I can not change the license key after the installation was complete. I would have to completely uninstall and re-install SQL Anywhere 16. Is that correct?

No, you don't have to do this in SQL Anywhere 16 - you can change SQL Anywhere editions by changing the license key on the accompanying server executable license file (e.g. dbsrv16.lic) with the Server Licensing Utility (dblic). You can use the "-k" switch in order to specify a new key:
dblic -k <reg_key> dbsrv16.lic

Install demo applications after initial repository setup

I did not install the demo applications during the initial install and configuration of 10g. Section 4.1 of the Quick Start guide states to manually run the Repository Wizard to install them after the fact, but it does not display the option to install the demos, it only checks to see if an upgrade is necessary. I can no longer use the original 10.2.0.1 installer because I have already applied the 10.2.0.2 patchset. Is there any way to get the demo applications installed without uninstalling everything and starting over?

Problem solved. I temporarily installed a standalone Mobile Server and copied the ./mobile/server/demos directory to my original iAS installation so I could run the demoinstaller script.

Solaris 10 x86 failed to reboot after initial installation due to display error

Hi everyone,
i just finished installing solaris 10 x86 on my computer, and the installation process went smoothly. However, when the system tried to reboot, i got some error related to the display of the monitor, which caused no desktop login can be displayed and no access to the console. I had no way to proceed with the any other operations. The error read as:
" Out of range<br />
Hf 30KHz - 70KHz<br />
Vf 30Hz - 160 Hz<br />
Current frequency<br />
Hf 90.3KHz "
I tried to boot to solaris failsafe mode and run "kdmconfig"
command to reconfigure video and monitor, but it did not work, since kdmconfig is not supported under that mode.
Because i have no way to login, the currently available solution seems not working with my situation. Dose anyone have idea or suggestion to figure it out, without reinstalling the OS from the very beginning?

Solution found:
First tried to login using "console login" when solaris booted up, before the desktop login window appeared. Then, run command "kdmconfig", changed the video device to X86 VESA compatible device, which is from the x86 driver and porting kit for solaris, then test/save and exit. After that, reboot the system. Now it is working, not perfect though (due to my old monitor) :)-

All newly installed apps disappear after the installation is done?

My problem started a few days ago. I install a new app from the app store and it shows up as loading on the home screen. As soon as the installation is done the icon simply disappears. Finder cannot locate it and the store shows the OPEN button, but it does nothing when pressed.I tried settings/general/usage/storage and the missing apps are there but the name of the missing apps does not show. I only see the icon and the size. I can delete the apps from there but reinstalling them does not help.

Unfortunately that did not help. It seems that there is a limit on the number of apps that can be shown on the home screen. I have close to 200 apps installed, and they are organized in folders on the home screen (3 pages). I must have hit the limit for apps in the home screen. I can install new apps, but they will not show up. If i delete one of the old apps then install a new one it will show on the home screen. I believe when the count gets to 189 then the next one (#190) will disappear after installation.

Trial Download - After Initializing Installer NOTHING HAPPENS - iMac Mavericks - Please Help!

I've downloaded the trial and have gotten as far as initialinzing the Installer which begins but then just disappears and nothing else happens. In my DOCK when I "right click" on the Creative Cloud Icon it says "application not responding".

How can I authorize mac after initial installation?

I installed Adobe Digital Edition but skipped the step to sign in. Then I downloaded books from the public library. When I try to copy them to my Nook, ADE says it is not authorized. So now I want to authorize my computer but can't figure out how to do that. Any ideas? Thanks!

First, return the book you have borrowed. You won't be able to do that after registering properly.
Then, get an Adobe account/ID if you don't already have one (you may have needed one to get opn this forum?)
Goto adobe.dom website and try to sign in. It will lead you through the steps to create a new account/ID.
Then, in ADE, choose menu/Help/Authorize Computer (Library/Authorize Computer on the older more reliable ADE v1.7.2)
and follow through what it asks
Then, in ADE with Nook plugged in, menu/Help/Authorize Device(Library/Authorize Device on v1.7.2)

How do I install additional locals after installation of Solaris 10?

I installed Solaris 10 withouth choosing to add Norwegian locale. I really don`t care for Norwegian messages, but it seems that X will not let me choose norwegian keyboard layout if I don`t install the Norwegian locale. My question is: How do I install the Norwegian locale after initial installation?
locale -a gives me:
C
POSIX
iso_8859_1
And I guess I need no_NO.

If you are using a graphics terminal you may want to try using the "prodreg" utility, as root?, to add en_US support. It appears to involve numerous packages, at least for 64 bit support.

I keep getting the above error everytime I plug in my iphone.
I am not daft, I do have the 64bit version of iTunes installed already. When I installed itunes 10.5 and more recently 10.5.1 I got an error message that rolls back a section of the installation (The updater I think) before finishing off installing iTunes.
After the installation iTunes will work normally apart from when I try to connect a device. At which point I get the title error message and I can not sync my phone.
It's probably down to Itunes not installing properly however no matter what I try I can not sort the problem out. I've tried uninstalling all apple programmes followed by a registry clean, then reinstall. I've tried the same again but in a specific order. I've tried repairing iTunes, repairing the updater etc etc. Nothing seems to work. I'm out of ideas.
Has anybody had this problem? Please can somebody tell me how to fix it!

Yeah, let's try a standalone Apple Mobile Device Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of why it's not installing under normal conditions.
Download and save a copy of the iTunes64Setup.exe installer file to your hard drive:

Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:

Right-click the iTunes64Setup.exe, and select "Extract to iTunes64Setup". WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunes64Setup".
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi to do a standalone AMDS install.
(If it offers you the choice to remove or repair, choose "Remove", and if the uninstall goes through successfully, see if you can reinstall by doubleclicking the AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi again.)
Does it install (or uninstall and then reinstall) properly for you? If so, does an iTunes install go through properly now?

Pure-ftpd setup (hosts.allow & hosts.deny)

i have installed pure-ftpd. i have it in daemon section in rc.conf and it's working (wisible from outside) althought my /etc/hosts.deny is
ALL: ALL: DENY
and in /etc/hosts.allow isn't any notice about pure-ftpd (just sshd).
isn't that weird?

Installing Arch Linux after Windows 7 64bit dual boot

Total noob here ^^
Im trying to install Arch Linux after my installation of Windows 7, without fucking up that one...
I freed up 50GB and removed it from my Windows boot partition, so Arch can be installed there, I have almost absolutely no experience with this kind of stuff since I've only used Ubuntu and Kali Linux before.
I've got a working arch image on my usb stick and i somehow can't figure out, how to install it without touching the existing partitions.
Is it possible to create a working dual boot, without changing my windows configuration?

yes its possible. What research have you done in order to install Arch. We do not hand hold here in this community. Go read up the appropriate wiki pages and ask specific questions with details in case you get stuck.
