Install question CS2 Premium using CS4 Standard work?

Running iMac Power PC G5, 2GB SDRAM, and have checked all the system requirements to upgrade, good to go, now the question is...
I have Adobe CS2 PREMIUM installed and need to upgrade to CS4. Will the CS4 STANDARD full version work to upgrade? or am I forced to buy the Premium? I am a print designer and not into web creation. So I don't use the web apps anyway.

Thanks for the quick reply! The link at Amazon gave this review... This should not be so confusing. anyway, I see the only way around it is to buy the full version. Any other options would be appreciated. Actually CS2 has never given me a problem. The reason I need to move ahead is I am running into compatibility issues with the agency I recieve artwork from. CS4 is the highest I can go with a powerpc. I really cannot aford a new mac right now. One last HELP Please. Thank You!

I love CS4. What I hate is that you have to read the whole listing to see that THIS IS ONLY AN UPGRADE FROM CS3 TO CS4, not any other versions. So I spent hours preparing for this transition, hours upon hours, and when I called Adobe support they said "Oh, yeah, this is a really common problem. There's really no way to tell the CS3-CS4 from the CS2-CS4 upgrades, and they cost the same price. We could help you, but you didn't buy it from us..." Aargh! So I'm returning it, Amazon won't make any money, I have to explain to my office that they're stuck on CS2 for a while, and there's just no way my boss will believe this isn't something completely negligent on my part.

Though you may install Cs2 on Windows but you may face performace issue. Please find the System Requirement for installing for one of the CS2 product: http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/system-requirements-photoshop.html . However I would recommend you to purchase the new CC realease with more enhanced functionalities and features.

How to upgrade from CS2 Premium to CS4 Design Standard

Have had CS2 Premium running on my Vista machine (32bit) for some time now without problems. Recently purchased CS4 Design Standard upgrade, but have left it in the box for some time. Things have calmed down, ready to try the upgrade. Is there a definitive recommended approach to this - i.e. just install over or remove existing. I've ready countless problems, suggestions etc., but felt by now, there must be a right way to do this. Appreciate any guidance,

sorry to be a pita, just want to minimize potentail problems. A few more questions then:
1. So are you saying the install doesn't overaly on CS2 but in fact keeps it and installs CS4 separately? That's a lot of wasted mb. Or
2. am I given a choice upon install - over CS2 or new? And
3. if I install in a separate directory, will uninstall of CS2 later on once i'm comfortable with CS4 delete any shared files?

I'm testing Windows 7 at home with CS3 Production Premium and have not had any issues. Of course CS4 is quite a bit different.

On our systems at work that have XP and Vista + CS4 Production Premium. I've noticed this with preview files in particular and possibly some others, I don't remember. The "show only exact file" checkbox is greyed out. This is somewhat annoying because projects can have a huge number of preview files with long cryptic names making it a pain to locate the correct one manually to get the ball rolling. If I don't think it'll take too long to re-render, I just select "skip preview files".
We bought 3 licenses for Windows 7 and I'm encouraged by the performance, reliability and features on my home test system (RC 64) that has CS3 installed. Can't wait to get rid of XP and Vista.

When I install Adobe CS2 Premium everything except Photoshop CS2 installs?

I have my original Adobe CS 2 Premium Edition. I run set up as admin etc and put in my serial etc etc all that goes smoothly. Now I would select the components I want to install. Photoshop Cs2 and Illustrator CS2. So after the installation I see illustrator and I can open it and use it, however I am unable to see a sight of Photoshop CS2 on the start menu, desktop, even made a search for it and no avail. I never received any error message as to it didn't install properly. So how come i'm not seeing adobe photoshop cs2.
Btw, my laptop is Windows 7 Home Basic, I installed the same software on an older computer xp and the same issue persists...can anyone help? It's obviously not an error message just that i am not seeing any sign of adobe photoshop on my laptop?
I even installed it in a different location on the C drive etc. Still nothing worked.

I know Adobe shut off the Activation servers, so your original CS2 will not work anyway.
Adobe has provided a free CS2 replacement. Download Acrobat 7 and CS2 products
Download the replacement and the serial number next to it. Your old CD and serial number is no longer valid.

If you already have CS5 installed, I don't think the installer of an earlier version will let you install said earlier version—at least on a Mac.

CS2 Premium not working after re installing on Windows Vista

I reformatted my computer and re installed CS2 Premium in a new laptop with Windows Vista; however, when trying to open one of the applications such as Photoshop it says "user name, organization, or serial number is missing or invalid." Adobe does not offer tech support for CS2 anymore so my only hope is your expert information. Thank you.

I got the same problem with my CS2. I recently bought a new computer which is windows vista 64 bit, and I tried to install my old CS2 on it and every program gave me that error message when I tried to run them. I called customer support, and the answer is the same, they dont support CS2 anymore and they expect you to buy their CS4. I mean I spent $$$ on it 2 years ago and you tell me to spend another $$$ to buy it again? This is purely insane.

I installed a corporate install of Flex/Flash Builder 4 Premium, and verified that it was the Premium version was installed. The Start Page said that Flash Player was needed to display the text, so I installed Flash Player 10 Debug -- first download link from here:

When I then started Flex Builder 4, the splash screen showed Premium, but as soon as the Start Page was visible, it showed "FB Adobe Flash Builder 4 Standard" --- Help | About showed Standard, and the splash screen from then on showed Standard.
A Google search showed a work around for this, but it requires a license for Premium, which I don't have because our corporate install has it built-in:

I had similar problem. I was involved in Flash Builder prerelease program and few months later I installed Adobe CS5 Master Collection. After that I had a same situation. Best thing was, my Flash Builder Beta was Premium version but acted like Standard, and FB from CS5 was Standard but acted like Premium. I removed CS5 and beta version of CS5. used CS5 Cleaning Fix and then reinstalled my apps.
I was lucky that I didn't have many big projects involved in FB beta or CS5 workspaces, I heard some guys had problems with migrated workspace configurations but I don't know what was the problem.

Web Premium Upgrade CS4 to CS5 - no need to re-install Acrobat Pro?

Just received Web Premium Upgrade package today. Currently have CS3 Web Standard. and CS4 Web Premium installed so will be removing CS3 Standard before attempting CS5 upgrade. My question concerns Acrobat Pro 9, perhaps obviously given the forum I'm posting in! :-) Would I be correct in assuming that given I have an up-to-date version of Acrobat Pro 9 installed as part of CS4 I can ignore the CS5 Acrobat installation? That's based on an associated assumption that the upgrade package is intended to also cover upgrades from CS4 Standard and other suites that did not include Acrobat Pro.

From the CS5 installation instructions (online, not provided with installation package) "If you already have Acrobat 9 Pro installed, either as part of a suite or as a standalone application, you do not need to reinstall it." It is a Total Misconception that the Support files are installed when you are installing Windows, even if the USB drive that holds them is inserted in the system when doing the Windows install.
You must always Run the Setup.exe files from the support files or run the drivers individually once Windows has finished installing and booted to the desktop.
Also you really need to run the Boot Camp Control Panel Applet and check for updates as not all the newest drivers for full function of all the hardware is included with the original support download. That download is basically a generic version to get the system working and without doing the updates not everything will work properly.

I can't find anything about this on the forum. Sorry if it has been asked before (I know it's a very basic question), but can anyone tell me how I install the Content DVD in CS4 Web Premium, please? This is the DVD that contains the PDF manuals, Fonts and samples / tutorials for Fireworks and Photoshop.
The first two DVDs (Application 1 and 2) installed automatically, and then went straight to the Registration page without prompting me to insert any further DVDs. All of the software from the first two DVDs seems to have installed correctly.
However, when I insert the third DVD (Content), it will not auto-run. I see ut contains an "autorun.inf" file that references a program called "autoplay.exe", but the latter isn't present on the DVD. Could this be the problem?
I would be grateful for any suggestions.

Cutomer support on this issue is attrocious.

Yes, you can save compatible files as long as you obey the rules like not using unsupported features such as nested groups, per group clipping masks, smart objects and several other things in Photoshop and use the "Maximize Compatibility" option. Illustrator will simply expand the appearance of objects or rasterize/ flatten them when going back to older versions if a feature is not available or changed in those old versions.

I cloned my HD to an SSD, but upon using the SSD in the computer, Windows CS2 Premium wanted activation again, and Adobe's activation system had some problem. I was then instructed to download a new CS2 Premium at https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/entitlement/index.cfm?e=cs2_downloads; however, install instructions and site contents do not match.
