Install Reader in Win 8.1 Invalid drive

I have redirected My Documents to a server catalog on Y:\ and that seems to stop Reader from installing.
What to do?
Leif

Usually it is just one key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders - none of the names in there should point to something like Y:
Just to make sure, also check: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders

  • Difficulty downloding Adobe Reader and Error 1327. Invalid Drive H:\

I am having a difficulty downloading Adobe reader on my laptop. For some reasons, I am getting error 1327. Invalid Drive H:\ notification. I have followed the tips on how to resolve this issue from Adobe's help and FAQ pages, but I am still not able to download Adobe reader. This issue begun short while after I installed a Tuneup software from AVG. I contacted this Tuneup company, and one of it's representative guided me through the steps on how to resolve the problem; unfortunately, the correction attempt did not make any difference. Adobe tech support team can fix my issue, but at a cost of $ 40. I do not want to pay it. Hence, I am trying to solve this problem myself. Could any one, who has the knowledge to deal with this issue, please respond to my request?
Thank you in advance for your assistance. I look forward to hearing from you.
    Best regards,
    Peter VK Mayangi

Have you tried both solutions on the link from the earlier poster?  Microsoft Fixit did not fixit?
If so, you will have to search the registry manually for your invalid drive H:\
Please post back if you are unsure what to do when you find that registry entry.
P.S. please do not post your email address and other private data in this public forum!

  • If you are having issues installing the new Win 7 PCI/PCIe driver.

If you have a problem with updating to the new Win 7 driver, you may need to do a virgin re-install.
Uninstall PatchMix and the drivers from the uninstaller, or from add/remove programs.
Power down and remove the PCI card.
Boot up and let windows do it's own clean up.
Power down and re-insert the PCI card.
Cancel windows hardware wizard if it pops up, (and it should), then install the most recent PatchMix and beta driver updates.
You may need to load a new factory template in PatchMix, and then rebuild any custom session templates you had.

Now, do you have to disconnect your printer everytime that you want to use it? If so, this is just a temporary fix and that's not something that you should have to do with regularity.
It's GLARING, the amount of people who are having issues with this software. Is APPLE listening to its customers? I'm to the point where I'm about to NOT recommend an I-Pod to anyone that asks. If they do, that's what I'm recommending. I'll also steer them to this website so that they can see with their own eyes, the problems that everyone is having.
This is totally ridiculous. I've been trying for THREE weeks to get my POS I-Pod Shuffle to download songs through I-Tunes 7.0. It's clear to me that these designers of this software haven't got a clue.
Sorry for the rant but I've had it with this junk.

  • I keep getting an error report 1327 invalid drive .I have tried to remove adobe reader and it won't let me , this used to work opk on my computer , but has not for quite a while now .I would like it gone from my computer

I am having problems with adobe reader , an error message 1327 invalid drive . I have tried to remove adobe readr=er from my computer , but it wont let me . It is useless as I am unable to use it ...why can I nor remove it

This means that something in your registry is pointing to a drive that doesn't exist; see http://support.microsoft.com/kb/327763

  • Install Reader 8.0 in directory different from C: drive

I don't have enough room on my C: drive and want to install Reader 8.0 on my D: drive, but can't find any way to make that happen. Is there a way?
    I've got Windows XP.

I have the same issue. In the past, you were given the option during installation. Not now. Even if it was the case where lots of stuff still went to C:, it would still be 168MB less than what is put there right now. I guess I'll have to use a competitor's product unless somebody from Adobe has any suggestions.
I was in the process of uninstalling Reader while typing the above comment - now it's uninstalled.
How frickin' huge is the stuff put on by Reader? Free disk space w/ Reader installed was 334 MB. I just uninstalled Reader and now have 2.38 GB of free space on the C: drive. Uninstalling Reader 8.1.2 is the only change I made and it's given me back over two gigabytes of space. I did not remove or alter any other files. I was not expecting to see that much space returned, or even a tenth of that. Even so, the size would not be an issue if I could install to another drive.

  • Invalid Drive G:/ error message when trying to download I-Tunes 9

I have had problems trying to download the last two versions of I-Tunes but as my ipod classic was working wasn't bothering.
I just recieved an Ipod Nano 5th Generation for Christmas and when I plug into computer states that it needs newer version of I-Tunes.
I go through all the process then just at the end of installing I get a message saying 'invalid drive:/G'
I can't use my new ipod or get the latest version of I-Tunes as get error message every time.
    HELP !

    Hi Any,
I have been getting a similar error when it gets to the quicktime phase, it says invalid G drive.
I found some help on the web that if you go to start and run at the command prompt, type the following: "Subst G: C:\". This gets me further in the installation, but I end up getting an error that says "the specified path is too long G:\lib". At that time, my only option is to cancel out. I have tried starting in my dock with external drive plugged in and thumb drive too to avoid having to use the SUBST command. When I do it this way, I get a different error, 2869.
I have tried just installing quicktime separately, but does not work either. Give it a try, maybe it will work for you differently. let me know your outcome, maybe you will encounter something that will help me too.

Error 1327 invalid Drive: E:\ appears when I try to install adobe reader, can anyone help?

    Hi Coralienz,
Can you please check the value of the registry entries at the following location: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders
In case the values for any of the entries (i.e. Common AppData, Common Desktop, Common Documents etc.) is referencing to E:\, change the value back to look something like below and you should be good to go.

  • MSI installer closes with error 1327, Invalid drive on Win 7 Ultimate when My Documents is moved to a network drive

I have several computers with Windows 7 Ultimate installed here at the Pioneer Library System. We have ~20 workstations running XP Pro on a Active Directory domain and are planning on rolling out Windows 7 this fall. I am running Windows 7 to test our programs
(have since RC1) but I am running into an issue when installing software.
The problem I am running into is that when I try to install any program that uses the MSI installer on Windows 7 , it fails with a 1327 error at the point where it is preparing to install and says "Invalid Drive H:\".
All the users in our domain have the "Home Folder" on their active directory profile set to
H:\ (which is mapped to \\PrimaryDC\user$ in the same place). We have also moved the
C:\Users\user\Documents folder to H:\ so as to keep all documents on the server where they get backed up regularly.
If I move "Documents" back to C:\Users\user\Documents the MSI installer works fine. When I look into the registry as suggested in
this thread I found that in "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders " and in "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell
Folders " the key "Personal" points to "H:\".
But, H:\ is a valid connected network drive. Installing from the same account on an XP computer with
C:\Documents and Settings\user\My Documents moved to the H:\ drive works fine.
I have tried setting up another 7 machine and get exactly the same results on it.
Is there a workaround for this besides creating a admin account that does not have Documents mapped to the network drive
H:\ to use for installing programs?
    Thanks
    Aaron Z
    PLS

I do not have the option with some of these files to pass parameters to the MSI installer. For example, if I download the Acrobat Reader installer from http://ardownload.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/9.x/9.3/enu/AdbeRdr930_en_US.exe and run AdbeRdr930_en_US.exe
it extracts the MSI file to C:\Users\USER\AppData\Local\Adobe\Reader 9.3\Setup Files and then runs it.
To reproduce this an a Windows 7 computer (does not have to be on a domain):
    Prep Work:
    Create a user (test1)
Create a folder on the root of C (C:\Test)
Set permissions on C:\Test to allow the test1 user to have full access to it
Share the C:\Test folder as test1 (again, set the permissions to allow the test1 user full access)
Set the "Home Folder" for the test1 user connect to Z: and point that to \\127.0.0.1\test1
    Login as test1
Check that you have Z:\ mapped and that it works
    Check that it works:
Install Acrobat Reader 9.3 from the link above
    Note that it works
Uninstall Acrobat Reader 9.3 using "Programs and Features"
    Break it:
    Login as test1
Check that you have Z:\ mapped and that it works
    Go to C:\Users\test1
Right  click on the Documents folder and click on properties
    Click on the Location tab
Click on "Browse" and select the Z drive
Allow Windows to move the files to the new location
    Check that it is broken:
Check that you have access to the new Documents folder at Z:\
Install Acrobat Reader 9.3 from the link above
Note that it extracts itself to C:\Users\test1\AppData\Local\Adobe\Reader 9.3\Setup Files
and runs the MSI installer from there
Note that after the MSI installer is started it pops up an error saying Error: 1327, Invalid drive Z:\.
I also see this with various other install programs (VMWare vSphere Client, VMWare Player and Kaspersky Antivirus for example)
Is there any reason why this should not work? Is there something that I should be doing differently?
    Thanks
    Aaron Z

  • Installing Reader 10.1 to a drive OTHER THAN 'C' drive

Hi. Can anyone provide guidance on how to install Adobe Reader 10.1 to a hard drive other than the C drive?
At no point during the installation process is the user given the option to select a drive letter. I need space on my C drive and want to install this rather sizeable utility on my E drive.
My O/S is XP Pro 2002 (SP 3)
    Thanks,
    SD

I assume you are downloading the Reader using the download manager, aren't you.
Just download the EXE or the MSI installer from ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/10.x/10.1.0/ and execute e.g. either of the following files:
    AdbeRdr1010_en_US.exe
    AdbeRdr1010_en_US.msi
Then you should be able to change the destination folder...

  • When installing iTunes 10 I get an error message "Invalid Drive: F:|". ANy advice?

All I want to do is upgrade from 9 to 10 so that I can run my ipad.
When installing iTunes 10 I get an error message "Invalid Drive: F:|". ANy advice?

    Bissley,
I have received this error in the past and it is usually caused by Windows automatically changing your external drive letters when you install. There are two ways around it; first, follow the directions provided by b noir. Second, within iTunes go to Edit > Preferences > Advanced
Under the advanced options you'll see a recessed section called "iTunes Media folder location". Although you may have set this in the past it, if Windows changed your drive letters it will no longer be valid. Default is usually "C:\blah\blah\mymusic"
Changing it just a matter of clicking "change" and finding your music folder again or change your drive letter back (if it changed at all).
If Windows is changing your drive letters, it is best to set them yourself so that everytime you plug in the devices they use the letter you assigned. Here is a link for that process:
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Change-add-or-remove-a-drive-le tter
    Hope it helps.
