Problems Installing SAP Web AS - (Sneak Preview Edition)
All,
I am coming across this frustrating problem when I attempt to install SAP Web AS - J2EE System.
I am:
-logged in as the local Administrator on a Windows 2000 server (SP4)
-I have installed SQL 2000 Server Enterprise
-I have patched SQL to 3A
-I have installed the Microsoft QFE
-I have installed the corrected Collation.
Towards the beginning of the installation; the install stops with the error:

The sapstartsrv.exe.log is completely empty after I stop the installation.
The sapinst.log contains:

Has anyone seen this problem or have an idea of what is causing it?
I have already:
-Uninstalled / Re-installed the SAP Web AS
-Uninstalled / Re-installed SQL Server
-Re-installed SP4 on the Windows OS
-Searched for notes related to this.
Thanks in advance.Hi Daniel,
Thanks I solved the password problem differently , after I had tried using different passwords in vain, I selected the second installation option other than "Local Install". Then I unistalled, then reinstalled with "Local Installation" option that prompted me for new passwords.
The installation was almost 98% complete, but jcontrol.exe could not start up, I have already logged that error here, so I unistalled and now trying hard to rinstall, but some how MAXDB is stuck in my registry, I have tried to remove it using Contrl Panel -> Add Remove programs in vain, I deleted SAPDB from the hard drive, I went to the Local Machine in the regedit32.exe tried to remove anything to do with SAP because I could not see anything else to do with MAXDB or Xserver but I am still getting the error:-

When I look at the log, it fails at some step that tried to copy UNINSAP.EXE to my local drive. It is looking at directory IM01_NT_I386/SAPINST/NT/I386/UNISAP.EXE. This is a path in the "Installation Master" DVD. However, during the intsallation, the installation wizard asked me to insert the RDBMS DVD. I don't know exactly what it means. Anyway, following is a stack trace. See the last line:

Problem in installing SAP Web Application Server
Hi,
I have downloaded 90 days evaluation copy of "SAP Web
Application Java Server 6.40 SP7 for MS SQL Server". I
tried to install the same but invain. I am getting the
error as :
"MDB-05505 Look up in the check table returned no
result. ()".
The operating system that i am working is Win 2000
server.I have also installed JDK 4.1.2,MS SQL Server-7
and IE 5.5.
Please help me in resolving the problem.
Regards
Rajiv. VHi Rajiv,
The problem is most likely due to you needing to have SQL 2000 installed not SQL7.
In addition to this you need to ensure that your SQL has been installed with the correct collation and had the appropriate service packs applied.
Please let me know if you require further clarification.

What do you want to do exactly?
You speak about SAP Netweaver Studio? I suppose you mean Netweaver Developer Studio?
Do you want to install a complete SAP System on your windows XP?? or only the Java part?
Thanks to give us more info

RaviHello Ravi,
this problem probably occurred when a SQL user was trying to be created using a password with special characters, but failed.
Could you please copy the last couple of lines of the protocol named 'XCMDOUT.log' into this thread?

hi,
I had a small query that for WEB AS ABAP we use application systems like APO,SCM etc
but for WEB AS JAVA . which application systems are used ?

gunaHello Guna,
WEB AS JAVA . which application systems are used ?
Web AS Java systems) automatically report information to the SLD about the elements that they contain by using the SLD data supplier programs. You need to manually register the following types of system only:
· Standalone Java systems
· Third-party systems
To manually register these systems and if you want to maintain additional data about automatically registered systems you use the technical system browser.
WEB AS JAVA . which application systems are used ?
Database Only as Data Source
Description: All user, user account, role, and group data is stored in the database of the SAP Web Application Server Java.
Use case: You can use this scenario if UME is only used by dedicated Java applications that do not need to connect to ABAP systems or third-party systems. An example is a Web Application Server Java that is used as a developer workplace for small desktop development
Configuration file: dataSourceConfiguration_database_only.xml

User management in SAP web AS Java
My company currently has a user management concept in place for BASIS. These concepts follow the segregation of duties principle. So for example a system administrator can grant rights to end-users but he can't change content himself. This concept was put in place to comply with SOX.
Now my company would like the same principles to be implemented in SAP web AS Java. I have searched the forums, blogs and notes, but i can't seem to find some best practices regarding the matter.
As I have difficulties finding these I am wondering if it is perhaps not needed from a SOX point of view, as the web AS Java doesn't directly access content, does this make sense?
Regardless of the SOX point of view I still believe the problem exists because anyone can mess up your portal environment if the user management is not handled correctly. So does sap have some best practices regarding user management in the web AS Java?
Any feedback on these 2 questions would be great!Hi,
when I hear these types of requirements I always think of IdM. Any IdM (not only from SAP) allows you to easily satisfy all SOX requirements. I understand that implementing IdM solution is not an easy task but you might get additional benefits from it like reduction of service desk calls and so on, not only compliance.

SAP Web AS Java version 2004s (7.0) installation problem
Hello,
I got the below error during the installation process of SAP Web AS Java. Any clue what is wrong?

It seems
software components are installed but failed to start. I have about 10
steps left (most are configuration) before finish.
Thanks. Please put consistent value between the max/min heap memory together with the value of young memory (NewSize) and tenured memory.
For example:
-Xmx768m
-Xms384m
-XX:NewSize=96m
-XX:MaxNewSize=192m
This will set the start of young memory 96m, and start of tenured memory (384-96)m
Max young memory is 192, and max for tenured is (768-192)m.
Never set something like below, it won't start.
-Xmx768m
-Xms769m
-XX:NewSize=96m
-XX:MaxNewSize=192m
or
-Xmx768m
-Xms384m
-XX:NewSize=385m
-XX:MaxNewSize=192m
etc, etc. -

Which is the version of Cordova and Kapsel you are using?
Your cordova version should be 4.2.0 and Kapsel version should be 3.7.1.

Issue in Installing Sap Web Dispatcher
Hi Experts,
We have Installed Sap Web Dispatcher in our landscape for https connection and we have generated the pse certificate .We were stuck in the next step as we have to forward this request to a certification authority such as Verisign or Thawte.
Can you please let us know the process on how we have to forward this request to Certification Authority.
Thanks in Advance..
Regards,
Krishna.MHi,
You are right ... It does NOT matter.
Here is no unicode/non-unicode version available for the webdispatcher. There is only one version available, and this use the non-unicode kernelpackage. You can carry on with the installation without any problem.

KarinHi everyone,
I had faced the similar problem from upgrading to caf-eu 4.0 to sp15,
The SDMlog file found as:
Caught exception during application deployment from SAP J2EE Engine's deploy service:
java.rmi.RemoteException: Cannot deploy application sap.com/cafeugpuidtcompcons..
Reason: Clusterwide exception: Failed to deploy application sap.com/cafeugpuidtcompcons.
In the forum discussion as mentioned i have changed the default setting to false & the deployment resumed.
Thanks Kiran,
