Install SCCM Agent without SCEP?

Hi all
we currently have ~5000 Win7 clients with SCCM and SCEP. Now we would like to deploy the SCCM agent to our servers. But since there is already an AV solution installed, we would like to install the SCCM agent without SCEP. Is there a way to do that?
I am aware that there are ways to remove SCEP once it is installed, but I am looking for a solution to that will prevent SCEP from installing in the first place. I've read various posts that mention separate Client Settings for servers but I am afraid that
these settings will trigger too late and SCEP will have removed the existing AV solution.
Currently we have the Default Client Settings with priority 10'000 which are not deployed to any collections and we have separate Client settings with priority 1 that are deployed to all machines with SCCM agent installed.
Your help is very much appreciated.
Best regards
Mathias

The Default Client Settings are applicable to all clients, by default, without being deployed. Any custom client settings will have a higher priority and thus overwrite. In this case I would configure the Default Client Settings with
Manage Endpoint Protection client on client computers set to
No, create a custom client settings with Manage Endpoint Protection client on client computers
set to Yes and target the Windows 7 clients. This way your server will not get Endpoint Protection by default.

  • How to install SCEP and sccm agent in D or E drive

SCEP is eating more CPU on C drive, so i want to to move re install SCEP and sccm agent on other driver D or E. How is it possible to move?

    Hi,
If I was to move anything I would move the SCCM Client cache instead of the installdir as the client cache per default will grow to 5GB, you can use the SMSCACHEDIR property when installing the SCCM client as the example shows on Technet here:CCMSetup.exe SMSCACHEDIR="C:\Temp"

  • SCCM Agent install failed - CcmUnloadWmiProviders. Unloading WMI providers

Hi I have a SCCM 2007 SP2 setup in native mode. I have sccm client problem on Exchange server with os 2008 sp2.
SCCM agent was working on this server few months back but it is not working now.
SCCM agent stops at "CcmUnloadWmiProviders. Unloading WMI providers" steps.
I tried below steps to resolve this but no luck.
    1. Uninstall sccm setup using command "ccmsetup.exe /uninstall"
    2. Run "Cccmclean.exe /all"
    3. Run delcert.exe
    4. Rename SMSCFG.ini file
    5. Run ccmsetup.exe again with source folder path too
    6. As agent installation failed i rebuild WMI repository
    7. Re run setup but it failed at same step.
    8. I rebooted server and rebuild Repository but same error.
    Any Idea about problem
If needed i can provide Log files too

Thanks Mike and theinfraguys for your suggestions. My problem is resolved.
The solution which worked for me has no logic but it solved my issue.
When my installation stopps at “CcmUnloadWmiProviders. Unloading WMI providers” step client.msi.log file have incomplete entry as “C:\Windows\SysWOW64\C”
At this time I have to restart WMI service and service will not stop correctly so I have to forcefully kill Winmgmt process and setup will continue.
I have to follow same process for upgrading SCCM client.  During client upgrade some time I have to kill ccmexec process too.

  • Can MOPZ be used without installing Diagnostic Agent.

    Hi,
    I need a clarification.
In Solution Manger 7.1 Version, can I use Maintenace Optimizer (MOPZ) to download SP's for a Managed System without prior installing Diagnostic Agent on the Managed System? If Yes, please write a brief procedure as below. (because my colleague was telling that one must install DA before using MOPZ).
In older Versions, to use MOPZ:
Send Managed System data with tcode RZ70 -------> The data will arrive in SLD of Solman -------> Assigning a Product and creating a Logical Component in SMSY -----> Assigning the Logical Component to a solution in DSWP --------> Now MOPZ can be used.
    Thank you,
    Mohan.

    Hi Mohan,
Not required any agent for MOPZ setup.
    Prerequisite:
*Initial, Basis and Managed system configuration setup( RFC creation, AISUSER assignment)
Open the MOPZ using 2 ways,
option 1. Using  LMDB system landscape
option 2. In solman_workcenter -> Change Management -> New Maintenance Transcation ( for new MOPZ)
    Prerequisite:
User ID is maintained in AISUSER
    Configured Technical System in SMSY.
Follow the below documnet for MOPZ step.
    http://scn.sap.com/docs/DOC-26893
Not required to create the solution as show in documnet , directly select the production version and start the MOPZ as show the document, remaining step are same.
Step by step how to Configure System for using MOPZ

  • SCCM Agent Install \ Deployment query?

    Hi All
I have a query regards best practices.  Within our environment we will have a number of Build Environments (all within the same domain), which will involve servers being built, decommissioned and rebuilt for application testing teams.
Query is how best to handle the install\life-cycle of the SCCM Agent with regards to this scenario?
Just looking to see if others have had experience of this type of scenario and best practices \ experiences etc
    Any thoughts much appreciated.
    Kind Regards
    Andrew

Thank you for your replys Jason and Wally,
I guess 'best practice' was the wrong phrase to use in this case.  However across the other System Center applications a number of best practices have become established for a certain scenarios\processes, and I was looking to see if a similar
approach had become established for the scenario outlined.  However on reflection I appreciate SCCM is a product that has enormous flexibility with regards to the variety of environments and the complexity of scenarios it is able to accommodate\handle. Thus
as you say, 'best practices' are not that realistic in general.
With regards to the scenario mentioned, we have 'x' number of development environments which will be provisioned via VMM Service Templates, via SCSM and SCORCH automation.  With the first number of rebuilds the Server names will not be the reused, but
after 'x' number of rebuilds the server names will be cycled\reused.  After further digging\reading I believe a scripted approach would be best, along with a separate method of cleaning out old server names from within SCCM itself.  The main concern
is when a server names get reused, it may still be in the SCCM database, but the new Server (with same name) has a new SID; which I believe would\could introduce issues.
Although I guess, with all that said, the most elegant\simple approach would be to have a clean uninstall of the SCCM agents whenever a development environment is decommissioned?
    Kind Regards
    Andrew

  • Sccm Agent will not install via push on SCCM 2012 to computers that have sccm 2007 agents

I can not install the sccm 2012 agent on client computers via the push method or selecting the computers in a collection and clicking on install client nothing happens on the clients.
Also another problem is when i install the clients manually on the machines there is no site code and i can not "find site"
in both cases teh machines did have the sccm 2007 agent and were working fine on that.

1.make sure you have created the boundary group first. if you cant push the agent via push method, check the log files.
    2. also make sure that in your environment if you have a firewall then there are port need to be open for agent push.
    3. also if you have installed MacAfee agent on your client machine make sure the policies are not blocking file and print sharing.
    4. also the windows firewall need to open for file and print sharing of you are using push method.
did you try to push the agent via GPO?
IF not try to run the following script in one of the client machine. use this command in the command prompt.
in my case smssitecode is BLL
    MP is the management point.
    ccmsetup.exe SMSSITECODE=BLL /mp:sccmserver.contoso.com /source:\\sccmserver.contoso.com\sms_bll\client
run the above command in the command prompt of one of the client machine which you cant install the agent and see.

  • SCCM Agent upgrade 2007 to 2012 Problem. UAC in ..\CCM\Cache folder

During the migration to SCCM 2012 R2 from 2007, i am using Software Update SUP to deploy the new agent, which will uninstall the old sccm 2007 agent from machines, and install the new SCCM 2012 R2 agent.
I test it in two or three machines and everything just works fine. The machine gets a software update (SCCM 2012 R2 Agent), uninstall sccm 2007, and install the new agent.
When i start testing in larger scale, i notice that some machines are not getting the new agent, and hanging in the removal of the old agent. The CCMSETUP.LOG file is stuck in (MSI: Action 9:09:35: SmsSwDistCacheDirDelete), while the (client.msi_uninstall.log)
    shows :
[9:14:18] ERROR: Unable to enumerate files in C:\Windows\SysWOW64\CCM\Cache\7f2916ad-688e-4497-87fa-6e31d3d0d631.1.System (0x80070003)

    and that's it.
Hint: if i go to that machine and manually tried to open C:\Windows\SysWOW64\CCM\Cache folder, it prompts me for admin credentials (UAC prompt), if i deleted that folder, the SCCM Agent 2007 gets removed successfully, and the new SCCM 2012 R2 Agent gets
    installed successfully.
Question: since i cannot do this for all machines in the organization, and i need the deployment to go smooth without any actions, why CCMSETUP is unable to elevate to admin right to get rid of the UAC prompt when opening that cache folder?
    ammarhasayen

I can't imagine this being a UAC issue as the Windows Update Agent runs as local System which is not subject to UAC and effectively has God rights on the system. I suspect something else is preventing the folder from being deleted like your AV. You should
run procmon during an installation to see exactly what is stopping the folder from being deleted.

  • Unable to install SCCM client on Windows Server 2008 R2 - certificate permission error?

I am trying to comply with corporate policy, which is, have an SCCM agent or client on every Windows device. I have successfully used the provided SCCM installer on other Windows 2008 R2 servers. However for one particular server I cannot get the SCCM agent
to install successfully. I've searched forums and documentation, but can't find a solution. Part of the problem is the lack of feedback by SCCM on what is wrong. I think I have narrowed down the symptom to the following error messages from the "C:\Windows\CCM\Logs\ClientIDManagerStartup.log":
[LOG[Certificate [Thumbprint C559304C1598F17641D0732EB9EB787169A25FA7] issued to 'SMS' doesn't have private key or caller doesn't have access to private key.

When I use the Certificates MMC snap in to look at installed certs on this Windows Server 2008 R2 machine, there are plenty of normal and expected certificates there. There is also a branch called SMS with hundreds of entries, I have no idea what that is.
The above error seems to indicate a permissions issue. What do I do to fix this SCCM install? It seems like a server cert issue, not an SCCM issue, so I'm posting to the Windows Server forums.
    Thanks in advance.

  • SCCM Agent 2007 Push not doing anything!!!

    Hello,
    - SCCM 2007 R3
    I verified the boundaries.
    I verified the Discovery Methods.
    Everything looks okay.
When the SCCM Agent is deployed by GPO or from the SCCM Console I don't see anything on a lot of workstations.
8 machines on the same subnet, same OU, but only 2 received the SCCM Agent.
on the others I even do not see the CCMSETUP folder and no activity in the ccm.log...
    Where to look now?

is this happen even I unchecked "Include only clients site's boundaries" ?
I verified the boundaries they are correct as well as the OUs. 2 out of 8 machines got the clients installed.
I checked the log file ClientLocation.log under
C:\Program Files (x86)\SMS_CCM\Logs on the server CONFIGMGRDTS for the DTS SIte and it is pointing to another server!!!

Current Management Point is configmgrsrv.ad.medctr.ucla.edu with version 6487 and capabilities: <Capabilities SchemaVersion="1.0">
    </Capabilities>. ClientLocation
    8/27/2014 12:37:05 PM 7200 (0x1C20)
    this is wrong...
it should be CONFIGMGRDTS as the local server name is its own Management Point..
CONFIGMGRSRV MP for the site SRV is still in use for the servers environment... not linked to DTS used for the desktops... why this mixage?

  • Is OMS needed when install management agent

I just want to configure SNMP for oracle database, so I install management agent on database server using reponse file like this:
    /scratch/john/linux/agent/runInstaller -silent -responseFile /scratch/john/linux/response/additional_agent.rsp
but it should confiure OMS_HOST in "additional_agent.rsp".
so my question is: how to configure SNMP for oracle with less components?

    Thanks!
You mean dbconsole, but you give a link about grid console, right?
And the following is figure of "Basic Components of Oracle SNMP Support", whether it means Master Agent can send snmp trap to NMS without Management Agent or Management Service?
