Install Sharepoint 2013 Foundation on Windows Server 2008 R2
Could anyone please help me with the steps to install the Sharepoint 2013 foundation (including SQL express) with Windows Server 2008 R2 ?
You just need to download Foundation, run the pre-req installer, then run the setup executable, select Single Server, and this will install both SQL Express and Foundation. This isn't typically a 'recommended' setup, but it is an easy one.

Installing SharePoint 2013 in a Windows 2012 R2 Server I was getting the following error
when I install prerequisiteinstaller.exe in sharepoint 2013, got the below error:
Error: The tool was unable to install Application Server Role, Web Server (IIS) Role.
Any expert please help?Hi,
From your description, I know you get error when you install SharePoint 2013 in Windows Server 2012 R2.
If you have tried all method above. In your case, you have installed the Web Server(IIS), but the
Web Server (IIS) role installation may fail. You could try run commande: aspnet_regii -enable –i.

As SharePoint 2013 does not support Windows 2012 R2 Server very well what you can find from this blog:
http://blogs.technet.com/b/wbaer/archive/2013/09/22/sharepoint-2013-support-for-windows-server-2012-r2.aspx.

Cannot install SharePoint 2013 with SP1 on server 2012 R2. IIS configuration error
Hey Guys,
I'm experiencing a problem which seems to be common considering the number of posts I've found about it, but none of the provided solutions worked for me.
I'm simply trying to install SharePoint 2013 with SP1 on a Windows Server Standard 2012 R2.
I've downloaded from the MS Volume Licensing website the "SharePoint Server 2013 with SP1" ISO file : SW_DVD5_SharePoint_Server_2013w_SP1_64Bit_English_MLF_X19-36118. So
this is the slipstreamed version which is supposed to bring compatibility with 2012 R2.
As I do not have direct access to the Internet I need to perform an offline installation. I also downloaded all prerequisities. When I run prerequisiteinstaller.exe with the necessary arguments, I get the following :
(Full log file is below)
I've tried the following :
- Restarted the server multiple times
- Manually removing/adding IIS role + restart
- Running the prerequisiteinstaller.exe from the DVD or from an extracted version
- Manually installing the prerequisities
- Installed .Net 3.5 as recommended here (http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/office/en-US/0b597d35-b02d-4236-894d-38efc0c7c6f6/sharepoint-2013-with-sp1-install-on-windows-server-2012-r2?forum=sharepointgeneral)
None of the worked. So I'm stuck and I must completed the installation of this before the end of the week for an important project !
Your help would be greatly appreciated.

How to upgrade Windows Server 2008 Foundation to Windows Server 2008 Standard
I have a Dell server with Windows Server 2008 Foundation installed. I am now on a larger network which has their own servers for authentication and the Windows Server 2008 Foundation will not let join a domain with more than 15 users. I was told that I needed
to upgrade Windows server 2008 foundation to Windows server 2008 Standard and that process can be done "in place" but I can't find how do do it. I called Dell and they said they basically said they didn't know what I was talking about.
How do I do this?According to the first one you can perform an in-place upgrade.

Is it Possible to install ODDC 32 bit on Windows Server 2008 R2(64bit)?
Hi All,
Is it Support to Install ODDC 32 bit on Windows Server 2008 R2(64 bit).
I am Posting this bcoz I did not found any ODDC related Blogs.
Please help on this
Thanks,
RajThe certification matrix ( http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/webcenter/content/odc-cert-matrix-214688.pdf ) does not mention OS for ODDC Server, but as ODC is certified for Win Server 2008, R2, 32 or 64 bit, I believe the answer is yes.
Make sure, however, that you ODDC clients run on a different OS (see Exceptions). -

Installing SUP 2.0 in Windows Server 2008
Hello Experts,
I am going to install SUP 2.0 in windows server 2008. so please suggest me how to install it and which components must be install in Server and in Client machine.
How to connect client machine with the Server 2008 for Sybase.
I followed SUP Installation Guide. But can't get any proper information,
Please reply me.
Regards,
TapanHi Tapan,
You have two options to install SUP 2.0.
1. Cluster installation
a. Data tier node
b. Server nodes
2. Single node installation
For Single node installation, all Data Tier and UnwiredPlatform components will be installed on single system. For this you need to launch the installer and proceed with default installation options (you can change ports, etc).
For Cluster installation, on one machine launch the installer and select cluster option and select "installation Data tier node for my cluster" and install it. After this share the Data folder (Under the install directory) to the user who is going to install Server nodes. For Server nodes, launch the installer on diffrent machine and select cluster option and select "installing first server node for my cluster" and enter needed information.
Hope this helps.

Install SharePoint 2013 database on SQL server 2012 SP1 cluster
Good Day all,
We are trying to install SharePoint 2013 database on a SQL server 2012 Enterprise with SP1 cluster (configured for mixed mode) but the connection is not working (times out). We can telent the SQL cluster network name on port 1433 and we made
a UDL connection file, test the connection via windows authentication and it is working, but if we use the sql authentication it is not working.
Also we have two SharePoint 2013 servers connected via NLB.
Any idea about this issue guys?event if 3355 means 3 things:
The SQL Server might be offline.
The SharePoint Foundation database access account might not have the necessary permissions to communicate with the SQL Server.
A firewall that runs on either the local server or on SQL Server might be blocking network communications.
Big question, how you trying to connect SQL windows or sql authentication? is it throwing error on Config wizard or somewhere else?
Please remember to mark your question as answered &Vote helpful,if this solves/helps your problem. ****************************************************************************************** Thanks -WS MCITP(SharePoint 2010, 2013) Blog: http://wscheema.com/blog -
Unable to open Office files on SharePoint 2010 sites on Windows Server 2008 R2
Setup: Windows SharePoint Server 2010 sp1 on Windows Server 2008 R2 (hosted on VMWare VSphere ESXi 5.1)
Secured using Domain SSL from GlobalSign.
Client OS: Windows 7 Professional 32bit & Windows XP SP3 32 bit
Browsers: IE10, IE9,IE8
Office: Office 2010, Office 2010 sp2 (both 32bit), Office 2007
Problem Description: Only recently, users started having issues with opening Office files (Word, Excel) on SharePoint sites. When you click on an Office file e.g. Word Document, it comes up with the option to select "Ready only" or "Edit"
and choosing either options and re-entering the login credentials results in the
application hanging. If you leave it for a while (about 5 minutes) sometimes the file opens and other times it gives the error "Could not open https://portal.com/XXX/XXX/Document.docx". Even when it opens, it's extremely
sluggish and can't do anything other than end it via Task Manager. Same with excel files.
This happens to all the users all different OS and browsers.
On XP Pro SP3 w/ IE8, when you click on the file, the login prompt keeps popping back up repeatedly and if you click cancel, the file loads up anyway but no way of saving back onto the SharePoint site.
IMPORTANT: One exception is when logged in as a Site Collection Administrator, it
works like a dream bizarrely!!!! Opens, Edits and saves back fine on the SharePoint site.
Have tried following:
1. Repaired Office 2010 Pro; Uninstalled/Re-installed Office 2010 Pro
2. Reset Browser, unticked automatically detect proxy settings.
3. Emptied OfficeOfflineCache on Client
4. Removed WebDAV from the SharePoint server
5. Added Antivirus folder exclusion (We use SEP 11) on the SharePoint Server
Note: PDF files opens fine for all users.
I would immensely appreciate if anybody has got any advice/pointers/suggestions. Desperately out of ideas at the moment.
regards,
Compter Sez No!Hi,
According to your description, When you try to open a Microsoft Office document from a SharePoint 2010 site in a client application, the document opens slowly and you are prompted to enter your credentials multiple times.
This issue may be because of SharePoint Web Front End (WFE) server(s) has Antivirus software installed and the exceptions are not set correctly.
I recommend to remove the antivirus software or set the correct permissions for the antivirus software to resolve the issue.
To configure the antivirus exceptions, please follow the guidelines in the below articles:
KB943620:
Folders to exclude when you perform a file-level antivirus scan on a server operating system.
KB952167:
Certain folders may have to be excluded from antivirus scanning when you use a file-level antivirus program in SharePoint.
KB943556:
Recommended file and folder exclusions for Microsoft Forefront Client Security or Forefront Endpoint Protection 2010.
Best regards.

Installing forms 11gr2 services on windows server 2008 r2 64 bit
hello,
I successfully installed on windows 7 64 bit my developer forms & reports 11gR2 with weblogic 10.3.5 , jdk 1.6.0_+.
Now i want to install in it in windows server 2008 R2 64bit, to deploy the application i created as a test.
Question.
1. Can I used the same installation set up , step, procedure as the development mode by only changing the installation mode to production mode in windows 2008R2?
1.1 Do I need to create domain first after install the weblogic or it is like the development mode that the FRM_installation will create its classic domain?
2. Can I used it without the fusion middleware?
3. It is compatible version for forms 11gr2 for Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g Release 1 (11.1.1.6.0) ? << doubted not compatible.
4. It is valid if i only install weblogic server 10.3.5 without the fusion middleware? Am I or other clients can able to access it?
5. It is will be a AS server even if without the repository creation?
Note : i only need the forms&report server services to run our application on windows server 2008 R2 64 bit and compile respectedly.
I ve done it with OAS 10g before but different procedures now since forms 11gr2 is using now weblogic server.
Thank you very much.... i want to install in it ... , to deploy the application i created as a test If you chose the "Development" install option during the installation of 11.1.2 you would have everything you needed to run your form. The only significant difference between the Dev and Deploy installation is the that in the Dev install type the Forms and Reports Servlets are deployed into the Admin server Managed server rather than creating a unique one for each. For local testing purposes, this should be sufficient for most cases. If on the other hand you need a full installation (Deployment), I would recommend that you choose this option, but be sure to also include the Builders. The Builders are available for both install types. I would not recommend attempting to have both install types installed together although it likely can be done. Having both installed would likely create confusion and difficulty during troubleshooting.
Important point. If you choose the Deployment option and include the Builders during that installation, you do not need to start everything in order to run a form. All that is needed is WLS_FORMS. All other processes can be stopped if system resources is a concern. For an actual production deployment, it is recommended that you route end-user requests through HTTP Server, but this is not required unless you plan to use SSO or other feature that is managed through HTTP Server. -
Hi,
I am working on a validation script to get the list of hotfixes installed on Domain Controllers every month as part of our monthly DC patching process. I have been successful in getting these details for DC's with (Windows Server 2008
R2 SP1, Powershell v2.0) using the below command.
Get-HotFix -cn $computer | Select-Object PSComputerName,HotFixID,Description,InstalledBy,InstalledOn | where InstalledOn -ge (Get-Date -Day 1 -Format d) | FT -AutoSize
I execute the above from a jump box with powershell v4.0 (Server 2008 R2)
However, when I try the same command from the jump box to query DC's with (Server 2008 SP2, powershell v2.0). It doesn't return the InstalledOn date and time. It was giving error for the InstalledOn property and hence I renamed it to $_.InstalledOn. Now
I don't get error but still no details displayed for InstalledOn property.
I tried using the below, as could see on few forums that this might resolve the issue. I also tried removing the "where" part but still no installation date returned.
Get-HotFix -cn $computer | Select-Object HotFixID, Description, InstalledBy, @{l="InstalledOn";e={[DateTime]::Parse($_.psbase.properties["installedon"].value,$([System.Globalization.CultureInfo]::GetCultureInfo("en-US")))}}
| where {$_.InstalledOn -ge (Get-Date -Day 1 -Format d)} | FT -AutoSize
Have tried this locally on the 2008 SP2 DC but still not working. Please advise what is going wrong?
Note: If I execute the below command locally on the 2008 SP2 DC, I am getting the InstalledOn output. However, when executed from the jump box with powershell v4.0 (Server 2008 R2) to query
the same 2008 SP2 DC, it just gives the prompt again without any error or output. This behavior is consistent for other 2008 SP2 DC's in the environment.
Get-HotFix -cn $computer | Select-Object HotfixID,Description,InstalledBy,InstalledOn | where {$_.InstalledOn -ge (Get-Date -Day 1 -Format d)} | FT -AutoSizeHi jrv, I have already tried the Win32_QuickFixEngineering option, which doesn't work either. Apologies for not mentioning the workarounds that I have already tried.
Get-Hotfix seems to be just a wrapper for Win32_QuickFixEngineering as per the below article. (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh849836.aspx)
I have seen a mention of using the WU ActiveX control on few forums, but was too lazy to read it through.
After rigorous testing, it makes me realize that somewhere the Get-Hotfix dates formatting\comparison isn't working. -

Installing Officejet Pro 8610 on Windows Server 2008 R2
I am trying to install an HP officejet Pro 8610 in a Windows Server 2008 R2 machine.
As an FYI the server aleady has an Officejet Pro 8600 installed on it
I ran the setup.exe from the install CD, as an administrator
The first window appears and I clikc continue
The next window appears and I select connect a new printer
At the Connection options window, I selected Wired network and it displays the correct printer
I slect the printer and click next and the installation starts and runs for about a minute that displays the following message
The printer works fine from another PC which is running windows 7 (64-bit) So I know the problem is not in the printer or the network.
Any suggestions would be appreciated
Thanks in advanceServer 2008 (x86) is supported, and I had an x64 machine set up last month that had FP12 installed and running in IE and Firefox. 64 bit IE wouldn't run it for some reason, but the 32 bit did. It installed in C/Windows/System32/Macromed/Flash and C/Windows/SysWOW64/Macromed/Flash, but I was unable to get the ActiveX plug-in to enable outside of 32 bit IE.
I also set up a Server 2012 machine that DID support the x64 ActiveX, but that's probably not an option for you.
Like you, I'd be leery of "hacks" to get it to run as an x64 pkug-in, as it may have unintended and undesired consequences in other areas.
