Install Solaris10 on HP ProLiant ML370 G6, "No Disk" error

Hello,
I want to install Solaris10 on HP ProLiant ML370 G6 servers which are on the Hardware Compatible List( HCL). However, I always encounter "No disk" issue and installation fails. The disks are HP SAS disks.
I searched online and knew that CPQAry3 driver must to be installed first. I did but the "No disk" error still happens later.
I am wondering what else I should do?

You have to apply the ROMPaq Firmware Upgrade before.

I wonder why this happens, If I install this Solaris 8 x86 on other PC model. It has /dev/lp1 and can print out successfully. I try many ways such as: upgrade latest ROMPAQ BIOS firmware,
install lp driver patch set, install acpi patch. But still don't work. I found that serial ports (asy) which are ACPI is working because I can redirect console to serial port (asy).
Do anyone have the idea to solve or track down this problems. Thanks a lot...

we are triyng to install solaris 8 intel on compaq proliant ml370. when we are loading the firt software cd at the point when is loading the package SUNWnamow the system hang without any warning messages.
we cannot complete the installation.

Install Solaris10 on HP DL185-G5 ??

We just got 2 HP DL185-G5 boxes to replace 2 ancient Dell Sol8 boxes. I've installed Solaris 10 on several DL385 boxes in the past with essentially no problems. This one is killing me.
The DL185 has the HP P400/256 RAID controller that requires the 'driver update' to be installed before any disks can be recognized. The DL385 boxes have the same controller, DU install worked as expected on those. On the 185, the install script reports "No driver found" when attempting the driver update step and the install will never complete. I know the hardware is good, a stock RHEL5.3 installed just fine. I tried 3 versions of Solaris 10 and 3 versions of the 'cpqary3' driver - still 'no driver found'
I even unpacked the sol-10-u8-ga-x86-dvd.iso, installed the cpqary3 driver into it, repacked, and tried the install. Still not found. HP does not have any ideas so far. Ran a prtconf and it's picking up the expected PCI id. This combination is in the HP 'supported' matrix.
Has anyone been able to install any Sol10 on an HP DL185-G5 ?? I'm wondering what would happen if I stuck the DL185 disk into the DL385, ran a fresh install, then stuck the disk back to the 185 ??

what is the firmware release level on the HP hardware. might want to run the firmware maintenance cd and update the drivers and try to install the OS again. i'm able to install solaris 10 (11/06) and later with few issues.

i m completely new to this os. can anyone let me know "how can i install solaris10 with winxp on second partion. is it as simple as installing two windows together. how much space will solaris require(i have only 40gb hard disk ).

Fdisk your hard disk and create two partitions
Install Windows as normal onto the first partition
Install Solaris onto the second - Solaris will install a bootloader which will allow you to select which OS to boot if you carry out the installs in that order.

I have one sinfire v245 box which is in remote location (DR site). I want to install Solari10-u5 on it.
I can't travel to remote site due to some restriction.
Presently Solaris10-U1 is installed in the box.
I have telnet/SSH access to Solaris-OS, and i have SSH access to it's "Advanced Lights Out Manager".

Install Solaris10 on Netra X1

I'm a Windows admin who has been assigned a project of installing Solaris10 on a Netra X1, which has no CD/DVD drive. The install was initially going to be done by an expert remotely, and to that end I ordered and set up a serial to ethernet converter and attached it to the LOM port. This was ostensibly going to allow for remote installation of Solaris10.
I no longer have access to the expert and so I'm trying to figure out the best way to get this done myself. Using the serial->ethernet converter I can remotely access both the >lom and >ok prompts which presumably gives me the ability to reboot and somehow install off of a Solaris install stored somewhere else. I'm just not sure where to go from here and what the easiest method of installing the new OS would be. I've read a suggestion elsewhere to use a liveUSB method instead, and if this is easier I can live with the extra driving time to get to the server. Would this be the easiest method, or is there a reasonable way to do it remotely given that I can access the lom prompt? Is the liveUSB method a common way to do this for servers that do not have optical drives?

I'm planning on driving down to the server and simply trying a few things to see if anything looks like its going to work. Is there any way to determine ahead of time if it can be booted from USB, and if not, how would I go about attempting to boot it from a USB drive once I'm there? Something like 'boot /dev/sdb' from the ok prompt in lom? I'm going to take an old IDE CDROM there as well, how would I get it to boot from that?
At this point its looking like this thing may become a fancy paperweight. I don't understand the design decision to not at least put a CD/DVD ROM in it.

Here's is the jumpstart finish scipt I use with our JASS jumpstart environment. It works similar to mAbrante's technique.
Just change the "mydomain.net" to match your domain.

Install Solaris10 on a Blade1000 from dvd fails

I want to install Solaris10 from DVD on a Blade1000.
After resetting the Blade1000 it founs the DvD.
Boot cdrom will start but does not found a bootable file.
another Sun was installed correctly with this DvD.
Any hints what to do?

Replace the DVD drive.
Early versions of the 390-0025 SCSI optical drive had problems with DVD media.
There is a firmware patch for the drive, but it sounds like your computer isn't functional enough (at the moment) to let you apply that patch.
The early drives would work fine with CD media, and sometimes read DVD data disks, but could not boot from DVD.

I fear that you are trying to download OLDER Software on a newer Operating Sysytem Meaning that you need to Install the Latest Version of Adobe on the Newer Operating System for it to work Properly. Be sure to always check the minimum System Requirements.

If you can't reinstall Firefox yourself then you need to contact your IT department and ask them to check the Firefox installation.
