Install Trex on NW04s SR1

Hi,
The option for installing TREX is not appearing in the SAP Master DVD for NW04s SR1.
Can someone suggest how to install TREX on NW04s SR1?

nothing under SAP NetWeaver 2004s >> Standalone Engines >> Search and Classification (TREX) ??
If not, maybe you have a look at the installation DVDs, there should be a setup.exe for TREX!?

Iam trying to install Trex 7.0on NW2004s SR1(Red Hat Linux 4.0).
1st time When I tried to install Trex 7.0on NW2004s SR1: on 2nd screen when it asked me to give the location of Trex CD then by mistake I gave the location of Trex 7.0 SR2 instead of Trex 7.0 SR1 thats why system thew some error & then I stoped the installation.After that I got the correct CD & again started the installation by running the sapinst file with command ./sapinst but this time it was showing me the following error on 1st screen itself instead of asking for the Trex 7.0 CD.

Hi sudhir,
I had a similar problem last time I installed TREX SR1.
This one is tricky to install, I recommend installing the previous edition not SR1, it's easier.
Anyway, my problem was that the label.asc file in the python folder was wrong, it had one or two ' * ' not needed.
Please verify your python path and the label.asc file.

Where does what run ?
- on the PC JUST the SAPinst frontend runs !
- the iSeries ALL the installation runs !
=> F:\ is not available there (assuming, you install NW04s on iSeries ...)
=> I ALWAYS copy ALL CDs to "/instcds" on the iSeries and use them in the browser dialog via the drive "X:" (even when I always use X:, this doesn't matter).
but: the iSeries needs to have access there ...
=> I would start from scratch ...

Installing NW04 SR1 WAS640 on NT

We are trying to install XI (3.0) on an NT server to connect to R/3 (ECC5.0) on iSeries AS400. The first step of the XI installation is to install the NW04 WAS 640. The NW04 SR1 installation DVD listing has for the first DVD the SAP NW04 SR1 SAP (UNICODE) KERNEL 6.4 <Database>. Our question is what Kernel is this for? Our DVD are for the iSeries where R/3 was installed we are installing NW04 on an NT server. Do we need the Kernel for NT? Or is the Kernel for the iSeries sufficient as it will be connecting to the iSeries?
Any help is appreciated!

There must be some info. about the DVD
if you install XI
the kernel DVD should be :
SAP NW04 SR1 SAP (UNICODE) KERNEL 6.4 <Database> <Platform>
maybe the list is too long, and <platform> is not in your papaer list, just check your DVD Cover.

If i remember correct , Installation will ask you for MaxDB user ids , it will give errors latter if you give lengthy user ids ( i think >8 or 9 ) . So try not to give lengty ids also check your host name. Looks like that also too long

TREX Installation, Error in phase - Install TREX web resources and finalize

Platforms:
SO - Win 2008 (R2) X64
During the last phase "Install TREX web resources and finalize instance" in installation process of TREX 7.1, it show me a weird error...
It seems that was some problem during the creation of sap start service of this new instance... but that is weird because I checked at services.msc and that service SAPTSM_02 and nothing seems wrong with it, it seems that was well created and it is in Started mode!... I checked firewall settings (all of them are in OFF status), I also checked CUA settings (is stopped)...
I searched for this error and I found the following SDN forum:

I already press the retry button but it always show me the same error.
During this phase the SAPInst window show some information and in there I see this two:
creating sap start service of instance TSM/TRX02...

It is very weird thing!

1).Is your Windows Firwall is enabled ? Disable the windows Firewall and also restart SAPinst
- As I said the windows firewall is disable (OFF)
2). Make sure that <sid>adm belongs to the local admins or Better provide the domain admin rights to the id which you are using for installation if it is domain installation.
- All the created users during this installation belongs to local admins. This isn´t a domain installation!
3). Try Restarting the installation by stopping and starting Windows and restart SAPINST and coninue Old Installation again.
- I already did that... but it continues to show me the same error!
Any other tip?

SAP Nw04s SR1 Installation

I am trying to install NW04s SR1. I have got the error "[ABAP: ACTIVE, Java: UNKNOWN] did not reach state PARTRUNNING after 20:00 minutes. Giving up."

The SAP note 848950, just advices to restart the SAPinst, which doesnt change anything, but fails at the exact same point again.

How far is the J2EE eninge getting? Check the work directory and see how far it's getting. You should see bootstrap logs, then dispatcher logs, then server0 logs. Look at the 'out' logs as well for these entries. Try to determine where in the startup process the J2EE stack is failing.

it seems the program xuser need the libraries libdl.so.2 and libc.so.6 and don't find it.
Both are in package glibc-2.6.x. ,maybe your have Version < 2.6 installed?

Installing TREX for Netweaver Sneak Preview2004s SP9

Hello,
I installed Netweaver Sneak Preview 2004S SP9. In the description of the download package TREX is mentioned. But it did not install. I found Thread TREX in EP? where a file SAPNW2004sJavaSP9_TREX.rar is mentioned. Does anybody know how to the download this file, rsp. how to install TREX for Netweaver Sneak Preview 2004S SP9?

I just checked this morning and the link now points to the SAPNetWeaver04_SP16Preview_TREX6116P2 rar file. I had downloaded that file back on 6/7/07 but it would not work. It would quit at the question asking for an instance to apply the hot fix, so I am guessing that it is only a maintenance release.
I have not re-downloaded it since they fixed the link.
However, I eventually found a download of TREX 6.1 on the SAP Software Distribution Center site found here:

Search for 51030611. I was able to load that successfully.

Install Error on NW2004s SR1 - ABAP+J2EE Instance

We are trying to install CRM 5.0 SR1 on Windows/Oracle and I see the following error in dev_jcontrol. SAPinst cannot start the J2EE instance. Any ideas ?

Thanks for this solution! We too have been running into this same issue on our SAP NetWeaver 2004s installs (ECC, BW, EP and Solution Manager) on 32bit and 64bit Windows 2003 Servers for about 2 months. Once we added the SAPService<SID> security account as a local administrator at the Java status is UNKNOWN for each install, rebooted the server and re-ran the installs (using the continue a previous installation method) they were able to finish succesfully. One fix maybe is to add each SAPService<SID> as a domain administrator but if you are cautious about security, it's not the wisest approach on resolving it. Hopefully SAP can provide a hotfix or more solid solution to install the NetWeaver 2004s products on a Windows 2003 environment.

Proxy User Password
is the above settings are mandatory for installing TREX if so,wht info i've to give there and where do i get the reuired info.

Hi,
Its not mandatory to specify the proxy settings during the installation. These settings are used by the trex for those sites which cannot be accessed directly without going through a firewall. For e.g to access the internet in your office there will be a firewall through which you get access to the internet.If you have a web repository which is an internet site for example CNN.com and your office network has a firewall without which you cannot access the site. Then you need to specify the proxy settings. There are two places you can define this, one is in the Web Repository itself and the other is in the Preprocessotr.ini as Florin said. Because if the TREX cannot get a response from the site then it won't be able to index the repository.

Yes,
The order of installation is
WebAS for java, portal and then KMC. TREX can be done in the same or separate stand alone system depending upon the system's capability. So You need to apply KMC over the portal that is already installed and TREX installation is separate. It can be made to point to the portal server which acts as a client to the TREX server. For TREX to point to portal, KMC must be applied over Portal.

In the documentation it says;
Configuration of the RFC connection with the TREX admin tool (stand-alone) is only available as of
SAP Basis Component SAP_BASIS 6.20 SP58, 6.40 SP16, and 7.0 SP6.
Don't worry if you patch level is lower.
It means that you can not generate RFC-connection to you 6.20 system automatically.
The same documentation says:
If you are using TREX with an SAP system based on an earlier support package,
you have to configure the RFC connection manually as described in the SAP NetWeaver 04 Installation Guide
for Search and Classification (TREX) 6.1.
