Install Video Encoder on 64bit?

Hi!
Has anyone managed to install the Flash Video Encoder on a
Win XP 64 bit system?
When trying to start the program I get asked for the .msi
file, when I point it to that I get an error 1706, no valid source
could be found for the product Macromedia Flash 8 video Encoder.
Windows installer cannot continue.

This sounds like a problem we had back in Flash 8 involving a
QuickTime update.. check this older technote and see if it applies:

  • Trouble getting video encoder to install

I installed the demo version of Flash 8, and the authoring

Config.msi file. My IT contact can't even find that file. Does
anyone know how to fix this?

  • Can't re-install iTunes on Windows7 64bit PC.

Can't re-install iTunes on Windows7 64bit PC. Tried uninstalling Apple programs in correct order and starting again with new download but I can't install Apple App support which means iTunes won't work. May be something to do with microsoft visual c++ redistributable package x86 which I cannot repair.
    Help please!

A hint from another thread suggests that temporarily disabling the Windows Firewall may help with the installation of the C++ Redistributable components.
For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, need to revert to an older version or want to try the iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) release as a workaround for performance issues or compatibility with third party software.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

  • Flash Video Encoder conflict with Safari for Windows

I installed Safari for Windows (AMD/Windows XP) without the
options (no Bonjour) and found that it disabled Adobe Flash Video
Encoder (tries to reinstall, can't find msi, can't reinstall from
disk, 1 keeps asking for disk 1). Uninstalled Quicktime, didn't
help. Uninstalled Safari, rebooted, still can't get Flash Encoder
    working.

    timtro;
Many (myself included)won't be installing safari/win until
    the final

    either, so it's
probably best to report this to apple as a possible bug with
    their

  • The Adobe product that installed Media Encoder has not activated

My Adobe Media Encoder CS4 was working perfectly.
I even exported a video one morning and that same afternoon it refused and gave me the following message:
"Thank you for using Adobe Media Encoder CS4. The Adobe product that installed Media Encoder has not activated.
Please launch and activate that Adobe product before continuing to use Media Encoder"
I reinstalled a couple of times, but nothing changed.
I uninstalled and installed CS5, it launched once then gave me the same message all over again.

I have just completed the installation of ProRes Quictime codecs, but when I went back to try to re-open my Adobe Media Encoder, (that I was using without problem around an hour ago), I now get the same message that The-Jade was getting

  • Flash Video Encoder Question(s)

    Hello,
This is the first time we've used Flash Video Encoder. We
have a video that is about 12 minutes long that is in QuickTime
format. We have added it to the FVE queue and have two questions.
    1. I think we may have messed up the settings. The first time
we tried to do this conversion we tooled around in there, but then
when we tried to go back in later we receive a message that says
"Flash Video Encoder cannot find the selected file. The file may
have been moved or deleted" when we click the Settings button.
    2. It takes FOREVER to convert this video. Before we stopped
it, it had run for 25 minutes and the estimated time left was over
    10 hours.
Is this normal? What on earth are we doing wrong?
    Thanks for your help.

That is odd since I also have quicktime pro and it IS an

  • Flash 8 video encoder + SWF

    Hi,
I need to convert some video file with the flash 8 video
encoder but i need an SWF output instead of a FLV. I know FLV is
the best for internet use but we can't integrate those type of file
in director so I really ned a swf file. I was wondering how could I
    do it ...
II've tried to import the FLV in Flash 8 as an embedded video
but as the warning said the audio is not synched with the video
when i export it. Anyone have an idea how could I export a SWF
without beeing linked to the FLV ??

  • Final Cut Pro, Flash Video Encoder & Flash Player

Well, let's get started.... I'm getting real frustrated with
Adobe. I emailed them about this problem two months ago and NEVER
got a response. This is extremely unacceptable product support. We
just purchased the Creative Suite Premium two months ago and have
never gotten Flash Video Encoder to properly encode a Quicktime
video exported from Final Cut Pro.
I have heard from a few on the Final Cut Pro forum on
Creative COW that there is a bug with this issue between Flash and
Final Cut Pro. Adobe doesn't seem to care if I report it, so that's
    why I am here.
I create my program as usual, export a Quicktime file (not
reference video, but a full self-contained Quicktime). BTW, I have
Quicktime 7.2 on my Mac Pro Quad 3.0 with 8 gig of RAM. I open
Flash Video Encoder to make my flash files. Import the Quicktime
and select my settings which are custom. I set it to encode and
wait for the encoding to be done. It takes about 1 1/2 hours to
encode a 23 minute program. After the encode is finished, I check
the Flash file by opening it up. BTW, I also have installed a copy
of On2 Flix Exporter, which encodes Flash files, too. The On2 Flash
player is the only player that works. Adobe's Flash player opens
but it won't open ANY Flash files.
    Has anyone seen this?

When I try to import it on FCPX it says "None of the selected files or folders can be imported. Change the selection and try again." and even on Compressor it either doesn't play and fails to convert, or else it plays only a the audio but once I've completed the process the outputted file doesn't play anything.
Here's a screenshot at my different attempts to convert it. I managed to get the record the video on VLC, but I can't record the audio so I tried getting only the audio form Compressor as well, but like I said the outputted file doesn't play any audio even though it's as long as the video (36 mins approx.).

  • Video Encoder

The following error displays upon the launch of Adobe Flash
    Cs3 Video Encoder:
"A required system library did not initialize properly,
Please ensure you have DirectShow 9 and QuickTime 7 or high
    installed on your system."
We did however install DirectShow 9.
Are we required to install Quicktime 7?
Is there a work around solution for the Video Encoder?
    Specifications:
    Windows XP

What you're looking at is SD compression, and what you are wanting is very much HD. You need to select a high definition setting in Compressor to do this.
Are you hoping to create a HD disc? Unless you go through replication (and at some considerable expense) you can't burn a HD format unless you put HD content onto a SD disc, and then it won't play on very many players... occasional computers here and there, etc.
If you want to create SD, then down-convert the video to SD and then encode it at the settings you are showing.
PS - you don't need iDVD unless you don't want much control of the process

common problem, happens with perfectly set up application,
    regardless DEMO or
    off the CD.
I and up getting ZIP of the encoder from a friend because
    multiple unistall, reinstall
    did not help.
Happen second time on my laptop, I got fed up and try to fix
    it, can't reproduce the steps
but basically I remove QT player and Flash 8. Reinstall QT
first, than Follow by flash 8.
Tried that 4 or 5 times and eventually it start to work.
You can always use it from the program, it works within flash
File - import - import video
than pick the video and go to Progress Download From the
    server.
Flash will generated the FLV automatically.
