Install Web Dispatcher in a Windows Cluster

is it possible to define an installed WebDispatcher Service. I didn't find any hints in SAP notes.

Hi Everybody,
I'm going to install web dispatcher on DMZ, that's not the same domain as Portal domain, but it cannot realize the host name that I insert for "rdisp/mshost"
I'm guessing the problem is becuase they are in different domains, Do you have any idea that what should I do?
By the way, My portal is in Microsoft cluster environment.

Hi Maryam,
you have to ensure that from network side everything is configured correctly that the SAP Web Dispatcher can
communicate with the message server.
The hostname configured with rdisp/mshost must be reachable with a ping command from the host the Web Dispatcher is running on .

Error while installing web dispatcher NW04S SR2

Hi there,
Get this error when installing web dispatcher.... step after selecting the kernel source...
Pls help??

I always setup SAP Web Dispatcher by running "sapwebdisp -bootstrap", although I haven't tried with SR2...

Issue while installing web dispatcher

i am trying to install web dispatcher , i am facing a issue in SAP host agent.could you please help me resolve this issue.

We have planned to install web dispathcer for Load balancing the HTTP requests, as performance of BSP applications are slow. Now we have already a Load balancing in place(SMLG).
Now will this installation of SAP web dispatcher for load balacing, have any conflicts with already present Load balance.

I confirm to you that I use both sapgui load blancing and HTTP load balancing with the web dispatcher on the same production R/3 system with no problems.

Oracle on windows cluster, with failsafe installed. Can it be switched live

Hi all
We have a oracle database, 10.2.0.4, installed on a 2 node Windows cluster (2003 R2 64 bit). Only one node is the active node. On top of this Failsafe is installed.
Oracle is used for SAP.
Normally when I need to switch the Oracle database from node1 to node2 I follow this procedure:
1 bring down SAP
2 set the database offline
3 switch the Oracle database using failsafe
4 set the database online
5 start sap
Being a hospital we just want to have SAP up all the time, this procedure only takes 20 min but I wondered if the switch could be done live
So just go into the failsafe manager and switch, (won't do it in prime time of course)
Can this live switch result in a corrupt database?

Hi,
to do it really life you need another technology than a "failover cluster". You can use RAC for this.
A failover cluster itself needs to be sure that the stack is down, before bringing it up on the other side. If not this can leed to corruptions... (though Oracle will try to prevent them in most cases)...

Web Dispatcher 7.2 startup error

Hi,
I've just installed Web Dispatcher 7.2 on a Windows 2003 server to play around with but I'm getting an error
"The system cannot execute the specified program" whenever I try to run sapwebdisp.
I'm guessing that there is a missing Visual C++ runtime or something similar missing but I have 2005 SP1, 2008SP1 and 2010 installed. When I ran the prerequisite checker it came back that everything was okay.
Anyone have any idea what I'm missing?

Never mind. I reinstalled the visual C++ 2005 SP1 runtime from the NTPatch folder and the program is running now.

I am installing Web Dispatcher on HPUX 11.23 ia64, but when I specify the location of Kernel disk, SAPInst keeps reporting "you entered: /sapcd/..., find the label SAP:AKK:700:DVD_KERNEL:SAP Kernel 700:D51032890, but need the label SAP:AKK:700:KERNEL::HPUX_IA64；
I have downloaded the newest Unicode Kernel disk from SAP Service MarketPlace web site, what is the problem? how to solve it?

The DVDs which you have used for installation of EP7 , use same DVDs to install the sap web dispatcher , i think this will help u

When we install web dispatcher, we are given an option for creating configuration for system of size medium / large...
There is a system installed as medium and I am looking it to adjust for large number of users..
Any help on what parameters will I have to change ?

Depending on which system size you have chosen (s, m or l), different parameter values are written to the profile file. The table below contains these different values.

have you setup the web dispatcher profile with the command:
sapwebdisp -bootstrap
? It would have tested the connection to the message server. I think the message server port is wrong. If your instance numer is 02 then the default HTTP message server port is 8102 and not 3602. 3602 is the port of the SAP own protocol.
