Install Web Intelligence

I've downloaded and successfully installed "BOE XI 3.1 (Server/Client Tools) for Solaris" (File 51035054) on Solaris 10.
I can see some Web Intelligence servers in the Central Management Console and I can see there is mention of Web Intelligence in the Settings area of the CMC.
I just don't know how to install the front end for Web Intelligence (I believe there is a web version and a rich client - I am more interested in the web version).
The only guides I can find about Web Intelligence are how to use it, not how to install it.   From what I can gather, it looks like I have to deploy a war file for it using wdeploy, but I can't see the war anywhere in the download area.
I've requested a licence for Web Intelligence in the hope that when I get the licence I'll get more information on what to do but haven't heard back yet (I only requested it about 2 hours ago).  (We have some sort of support agreement which I assume covers Web Intelligence).
I am not sure if I need to install InfoView?
I am sure there is some documentation that I'm just not seeing.  I found really good documentation about installing BO Enterprise but now that I've done that I am a bit lost about what to do next.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks
Tanya

Hi Tanya,
I have not done this on Solaris, but on Windows there is no separate install for Web Intelligence. If you installed the Web Services Tier it should be possible to create a Web Intelligence document through the InfoView portal.
Hope this helps

  • The charts does appear in Web Intelligence canvas

    Hi,
    It is about Web Intelligence
    I have installed Web Intelligence in BOBJ Server. I open infoview in order to create a Web Intelligence report. But when I put a chart in the canvas it does not appear.
    If I put in View Structure option I can see that the chart is there.
    Please help me, somebody knows how to solve this issue?
    Regards,
    Paulina

    Paulina,
    Not every grid lends itself nicely to a particular chart.  When applying a chart to a grid that will not work, the response in WebI seems to be nothing, zilch, no negative feedback, no error warnings, but just as you are experiencing right now.  The steps to take next is try a different chart type to see if you get anything.  Another step would be to "strip" down the grid to the bare essentials (like an x-axis and a measure and try a bar chart first).  Once you're able to work something up, continue adding more complexity until you know the tipping point and then backoff, regroup, and try something else.  Charting in WebI is an iterative process and not quite as "user-friendly" than something perhaps like Excel...but eventually with persistence you will arrive at your destination.
    Thanks,

  • Refresh of Data in Xcelsius from Web Intelligence Results

    Hello,
    I am new to the forum but not to Business Objects/Xcelsius.  I attended the SAP Sapphire Event last May and spent time in the Business Objects lab.  Two Product Managers demonstrated how I would be able to refresh the data in an Xcelsius dashboard using Live Office by retreiving results from a Webi document without refreshing the Webi query.
    For example, my Webi document contains 100,000 result rows.  I want to be able to select a dropdown in my dashboard and have Live Office retreive only a subset of the 100,000 rows.  This being done without having the Webi query being refreshed from the database.  The Webi query would be refreshed nightly.
    The Product Managers advised that this functionality would be available in Service Pack 3 or before.  As of now I cannot find out how to make this work.  Any help or information would be appreciated.  Thanks.

    Hello Charles,
    WebIntelligence Input Controls are a way to enhance and customize user experience with report filters, they are therefore based on report filters and the feature is more focused on user interface & experience rather than exposition outside web intelligence.
    Anyway, AFAIK, report filters are not available from Live Office report parts, you can only filter content with prompts, which requires the document to be refresh from the database, which has a direct impact on performance and scalability for consumers.
    However, if you are with WebIntelligence XI 3.1 SP2 you have the alternative to publish from WebI Rich Client, report elements (any table or chart) as web services (called BI Services).
    This tool is based on Qaaws technology, and share some of its features (main being that is uses the same Xcelsius Data Manager connection), it exposes a large part of WebI interactions to external consumers (esp. Xcelsius) : report filters, drill, prompts.
    Besides this tool provides a set of call input parameters to tune web service consumption for best performance and scalability, enabling to leverage WebI document management features like scehduling, publishing and refresh, so consumers can balance performance with real-time data.
    More information is available from WebIntelligence Rich Client user documentation from section sharing webi content with other web applications.
    I recommend you install the latest fix pack (SP2.5 and above), as some initial fixes were required to ensure full compatibility with Xcelsius.
    Hope that helps,
    David.

  • Date data from Web Intelligence Report not equal to Date from Source

    Hi,
    I am creating a Web intelligence report based on a BEx query. I have a field called 'Date' that I am bringing over from the BEx query. It has a format of MM/DD/YYYY. When I view the 'Date' in Web Intelligence, it is displaying as 1/1/70. For example, in the BEx Query, 'Date' = 11/01/2011. In Crystal Reports, it is showing up as 1/1/70 as the only date. The source field contains more than 1 date.  I'm not sure what's going on. I am using the 14.0.0 (2010) version of the Web Intelligence through the BusinessObject Launch Pad.
    Please help!
    -Janice

    Hi
    The patches for SAP BusinessObjects BI4.0 are accumulative.  This means you can download the latest patch (for the Support Package that you have installed) and it will have all the patch fixes
    It looks like older patches are being removed from the sites & only the most recent patch or patches are available since they are accumulative
    I believe Patch 2.15 should now be available, but anything later than Patch 2.6 should help you in this instance
    I hope this helps

  • Creating a new Web Intelligence document using OpenDocument (requires an existing document?)

    We use the OpenDocument interface to embed the Web Intelligence viewer in our web application.  One of the problems we're having is that the code appears to require a valid document ID, even if all you want to do is create a new document (passing the noDocument=true flag, so that the application opens with no document at all).
    I've tried various permutations of the following, with no success, always getting this error message (An error occurred: Could not find the document)
    E.g:
    http://bo-server:8080/BOE/OpenDocument/opendoc/openDocument.jsp?noDocument=true...
    http://bo-server:8080/BOE/OpenDocument/opendoc/openDocument.jsp?noDocument=true&iDocID=...
    http://bo-server:8080/BOE/OpenDocument/opendoc/openDocument.jsp?noDocument=true&iDocID=-1...
    http://bo-server:8080/BOE/OpenDocument/opendoc/openDocument.jsp?noDocument=true&iDocID=0...
    http://bo-server:8080/BOE/OpenDocument/opendoc/openDocument.jsp?noDocument=true&sDocName=...
    http://bo-server:8080/BOE/OpenDocument/opendoc/openDocument.jsp?noDocument=true&sDocName=new...
    It appears the only way to get OpenDocument to allow you to do this is to use an existing WebI document ID.  That is to say you can't create a new document unless you already have an existing document to include in the call to the JSP.
    This limitation appears to be artificial and only on the OpenDocument interface -- You can create new documents in Launchpad without having an already existing document to point to.  Documenting the workaround for this, having people installing the product first make a webi and save it, then configuring it so it has read-only permissions (so it doesn't accidentally get deleted), then configuring our application to lookup the ID isn't the most elegant of experiences.
    I was wondering if anyone had run into this before and/or if anyone at SAP could look into it?  I'm hoping it's an easy limitation/bug to fix.
    This limitation affects 4.1 SP4 and probably older versions of the OpenDocument interface.  See also:

  • Error: RWI 00223 when trying to view a Web Intelligence report in Infoview

    Hi,
    I have a problem when I try to view a webi report in infoview, I get the error message: "Could not get page number. (Error RWI 00223) (Error: INF)". It is possible to modify the report, and run the report from the development application.
    I am using BOXI release 2, SP 5 on a windows server. Tomcat. Java 1.5.
    I have tried to find an answer in the forums and have for instance tried to increase the heap size, it did not help. I have also read something about replacing jar files in the desktoplaunch folder in tomcat. Though, these files are not really covered by the ones found in ..\Business Objects\common\3.5\java\lib. So it does not feel like I can just replace them?
    Do you have any other ideas?
    Thanks in advance.
    BR, Emma

    Hi Emma,
    Thanks for the information.
    Could you please review the following solution and information.
    BusinessObjects XI Release 2 is deployed in a distributed environment. Only the WCA.NET component of BusinessObjects XI Release 2 is installed on the IIS server.
    When attempting to view or edit a Web Intelligence document in the Java Report Panel, a "WIJ2002" error occurs.
    This error does not occur when BusinessObjects XI Release 2 is fully installed on the IIS server.
    Cause
    The TraceLog.dll file is not installed when only the Web Component Adapter is installed on the IIS server.
    Resolution
    Copy the TraceLog.dll file from a full installation of BusinessObjects XI Release 2 to the computer that has only the WCA component installed.
    Background
    This error occurs when the Java applet attempts to send a POST request. The IIS error log files show an HTTP 500 error with POST request type on the cdzisapi.wis file.
    The detailed error message thrown by the Java applet in the browser is similar to the following:
    "http://excalibur:80/businessobjects/enterprise115/cdzisapi.wis? java.lang.RuntimeException: java.io.IOException: Server returned HTTP response code: 500 for URL: http://excalibur:80/businessobjects/enterprise115/cdzisapi.wis at sun.net.www.protocol.http.HttpURLConnection.getInputStream(Unknown Source) at sun.plugin.net.protocol.http.HttpURLConnection.getInputStream(Unknown Source) at com.businessobjects.wp.cpi.CPIConnection.postRequest(CPIConnection.java:440) at com.businessobjects.wp.xml.XMLViaHttp.loadScript(XMLViaHttp.java:144) at com.businessobjects.wp.xml.XMLViaHttp.initInstance(XMLViaHttp.java:971) at com.businessobjects.wp.xml.XMLSession.load(XMLSession.java:157) at com.businessobjects.wp.xml.XMLSession.load(XMLSession.java:45) at com.businessobjects.wp.om.OMSessionLoader.load(OMSessionLoader.java:29) at com.businessobjects.wp.tc.TCMain.initClient(TCMain.java:1431) at com.businessobjects.wp.tc.thread.InitAppletRunner.run(InitAppletRunner.java:81) at java.lang.Thread.run(Unknown Source) at com.businessobjects.wp.cpi.CPIConnection.postRequest(CPIConnection.java:444) at com.businessobjects.wp.xml.XMLViaHttp.loadScript(XMLViaHttp.java:144) at com.businessobjects.wp.xml.XMLViaHttp.initInstance(XMLViaHttp.java:971) at com.businessobjects.wp.xml.XMLSession.load(XMLSession.java:157) at com.businessobjects.wp.xml.XMLSession.load(XMLSession.java:45) at com.businessobjects.wp.om.OMSessionLoader.load(OMSessionLoader.java:29) at com.businessobjects.wp.tc.TCMain.initClient(TCMain.java:1431) at com.businessobjects.wp.tc.thread.InitAppletRunner.run(InitAppletRunner.java:81) at java.lang.Thread.run(Unknown Source) Additional info:case 302675238 .   • Not able to see Web Intelligence in Infoview

    Hi Experts!
    We are on SAP BI7 and BOXI 3.0  and have installed the Integration kit successfully.
    Everything seems to be fine as in , I was able to configure SAP authentication and am able to log into Infoview with my SAP credentials.
    But the problem is after I have built my universe, when I log into Infoview with my SAP credentials, I am unable to see the option 'Web Intelligence'  (ubder Documnet list -New) to create a WI document.
    But when I am logging in as Admintrator I can see that option.
    Can you please let me know what is it that I am missing?
    Is it a problem with some authorisation?My SAP BW system has been enabled to accept tickets.
    Thanks in Advance.
    Sreeranjani.

    hi,
    when you import SAP roles they become User groups in BusinessObjects Enterprise. By default a new User groups is ONLY part of the group Everyone which in a default installation does not have enough rights to create a Web Intelligence report. You need to assign the necessary rights on the BusinessObjects system to those user groups

  • How to add a barcode font for use in Web Intelligence (WebI) XIR2 and 3x?

    Anyone have the steps to add a barcode font to WebI XIR2 and 3x?  Not finding a good KBase on it and was also wondering if there any "gotchas" in terms of printing and exporting to .pdf.
    Thanks.

    Hi Kevin,
    Also, if the solution provided in the previous post doesn't helps you then try the following solution.
    Following are the steps to apply barcode font (IDAutomationHC39M):
    1) In Windows Explorer, browse to the following folder:
    -- C:\Windows\Fonts
    2) On the File menu click Install New Font then browse to the font you want to install.
    3) Edit the properties on the fonts you have just added:
    In the "Embedding" tab, you should get a property like "Preview & Print embedding allowed".
    But, nothing related to a license limitation regarding the embedding, else, you will not be allowed to use the added fonts in PDF or XLS generation.
    4) Once the above points have been done:
    -- Copy the .ttf fonts you want to use in the following XIR2 folder:
    <BO_INSTALL_DIR>\Business Objects\j2sdk1.4.2_08\jre\lib\fonts
    5) Add the following entries into the fontalias.xml file, which is in the following folder:
    <BO_INSTALL_DIR>\Business Objects\BusinessObjects Enterprise 11.5\win32_x86\fonts
    The template looks like the following one:
    <FONT NAME="IDAutomationHC39M">
    <FONTFAMILY PLATFORM="ttf" NAME="IDAutomationHC39M (IDAutomationHC39M)">
    <FONTATTRIBUTE BOLD="false" ITALIC="false" LOGICAL="IDAutomationHC39M" PHYSICAL="IDAutomationHC39M.ttf"/>
    </FONTFAMILY>
    <FONTFAMILY PLATFORM="win" NAME="IDAutomationHC39M"/>
    <FONTFAMILY PLATFORM="java" NAME="IDAutomationHC39M"/>
    <FONTFAMILY PLATFORM="html" NAME="IDAutomationHC39M"/>
    </FONT>
    6) Add the following entries into the u2018i18n.xmlu2019 file, which is in the following folder:
    <BO_INSTALL_DIR>\Business Objects\BusinessObjects Enterprise 11.5\win32_x86\scripts
    You have different sections in this i81n.xml file.
    -- Under the first section
    <I18N>
    <FontFinder>
    <font key=u201DIDAutomationHC39Mu201D value=u201DIDAutomationHC39Mu201D/>
    u2026u2026u2026u2026u2026u2026u2026u2026u2026..
    </ FontFinder>
    < FontFinder2>
    <font key=u201DIDAutomationHC39Mu201D value=u201DIDAutomationHC39Mu201D/>
    u2026u2026u2026u2026u2026u2026u2026u2026u2026..
    </ FontFinder2>
    -- Under the u2018font_aliasingu2019 section
    <font_aliasing>
    <T1>
    u2026u2026u2026u2026.
    </T1>
    <TTF>
    u2026..
    <font name=u201DIDAutomationHC39Mu201D>
    <os type=u201Dallu201D>
    <Attributs style=u201D0u201D filename=u201DIDAutomationHC39M.ttfu201D encoding=u201Du201D aliaspsname =u201CIDAutomationHC39Mu201D/>
    u2026
    </os>
    </TTF>
    7) Save the both files.
    8) Restart the Businessobjects servers or local computer.
    9) Login in to infoview and create a new web intelligence report by using the Java Report Panel or Html Report Panel;
    10) In the left pane, select the "Cell Format Properties": you will notice that an entry "IDAutomationHC39M" has been added into the font dropdown list.
    Just test the above u2018IDAutomationHC39Mu2019 barcode font, at your end and update me with the results.

  • Chinese characters displayed as ##### in Web Intelligence

    Hello,
    I am using Business Object XI 3.1 and created a Web Intelligence report however it is not able to display the chinese character name for some Taiwan vendors. On my backend BW 7.0, I can see the chinese characters. What could be the cause?
    Any help is most appreciated.
    Thank you.

    that setting has to be done in the registry where the oracle server and oracle client are installed. then restart the BOE servers and try.
    you can refer the oracle website (like http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/features/globalization/nls-lang-099431.html#_Toc110410556) for this setting.

  • "License Not Valid" Error on BOE XI 3.1 for Web-Intelligence

    Hey Everyone,
    This has been going on for sometime now. I downloaded the trial version ( BOE ) and installed the temSporary key in it. Now when I go to Infoview it doesn't show the option for Web-Intelligence document. So I went over to Rich Client and tried to log in. Now it gives me the error "License not Valid".
    The weird part is I can log into the Designer, DeskI , CMC , and it works perfectly, the only problems I'm getting are in WebI. I've tried doing a clean sweep and still it doesn't work. Any ideas on how to fix this?
    Thanks

    Can you run the following query in Query Builder and check whether SI_ENABLE_WEBI is true ?
    SELECT SI_SYSTEM_INFO FROM CI_SYSTEMOBJECTS WHERE SI_ID = 4
    Also, have you tried using a different temporary key?

  • Web Intelligence - general

    Post Author: Optimus
    CA Forum: WebIntelligence Reporting
    Hi!
    I installed BO Enterprise XI edition - server and client (on separate computers).I also installed LiveOffice and activated it in CMC (via licence key). After that, as expected, in new MS Office 2007 I got additional tools - 'Insert Live Office doc'. My problem is that one is not able to insert Desktop intelligence document *.rep into word/excel document. What is workaround, or what was I'm doing wrong? I can import Web intelligence, but what is that (I didn't get it as a part of BO Enterprise Edition!)thanks.

    This has been an issue for a number of releases.
    BOE WISHLIST : the Enterprise Administrator should have a built-in CMC tool for managing USER PREFERENCES (including setting DEFAULTS for new Users).
    Until that finally happens, this seems to be the best way to work-around it...

  • Web Intelligence Standalone

    Hi Experts,
    I have some questions about Web Intelligence.
    Is Web Intelligence Standalone avaiable  as a trial version and does it has access on BW?
    Or do I need a Enterprise/Edge Platform to connect to BW over Web I?
    Is Web Intelligence in principle the same as Bex Web Application Designer?
    Regards,
    Jan

    Is Web Intelligence Standalone avaiable as a trial version and does it has access on BW?
    Or do I need a Enterprise/Edge Platform to connect to BW over Web I?
    Web Intelligence is part of the SAP Business Objects Enterprise suite of products and is therefore cannot be installed as a standalone solution. To connect SAP Business Objects Enterprise (SAP BOE) to an SAP NetWeaver Business Warehouse (SAP BW) instance, you will need to install a minimum of SAP BOE XI 3.x and your SAP BW instance will need to be on a minimum of SAP NetWeaver 7.0 Enhancement Package 1 (a.k.a. SAP NetWeaver 7.0 EHP1 or SAP NetWeaver 7.01).
    Is Web Intelligence in principle the same as Bex Web Application Designer?
    Web Intelligence really isn't the same as BEx Web Application Designer (BEx WAD). It's a partial replacement for BEx Web Analyzer, along with Pioneer, but with much more capability than BEx Web Analyzer (e.g. a user-friendly means for ad-hoc queries). Xcelsius would be considered more of a replace for BEx WAD.
    All BEx products, including BEx Query Designer, are now in maintenance mode. They will no longer be enhanced and will not be supported beyond 2016.
