IIRC, you can not update Windows 7 without an internet connection.
Is there no way/tool to load updates on an external drive, and take that external drive desktop to desktop for installation?

Do you mean download windows update in external drive and then install the updates in another computer?
If it is the case, based on my test, we can do it.
We use one computer to download the updates from Microsoft download center and then share them in a folder. Then another computer use these downloaded updated to install. It works fine.
If it is not the case, please feel free to let me know.

Can't do that now. The owner is giving up with Microsoft and stick with his trusty MAC OS X!
His Asus Transformer TX300CA indeed have Windows 8.1 driver support. I did check with ASUS website.
However I did many tests base on Microsoft Support Knowledge base.
I even try the Microsoft Fix it. It too didn't work.
The Asus Transformer TX300CA is using Windows 8 Pro OEM version.
There is a possibility that his Windows 8 is corrupted.
I try to find the "C:\Windows\winsxs\poqexec.log". No where to be found.
The strange part is The ASUS Transformer TX300CA cannot install any updates patches of Windows 8!!!
I come to know that many people are having this issues regardless which laptop brand they are using.
However I did it with ease on a Lenovo laptop.
The process of having upgrading to Windows 8.1 via Windows Apps Store is very tedious and long process. It's very very slow. Not unless you have a High Broadband speed.
It's very time consuming. It's not a good method of upgrading to Windows 8.1.
My Suggestion to Microsoft to release a FREE DVD upgrade disc to all of it's customers.
You have to bare in mind that not everyone in the world is using a High Speed Broadband network.
In some country they still using a clunky old 24,33.6,56K modem.
How are they going to do the 3.8GB of upgrade to Windows 8.1. It will take them months to complete the tasks.

BSOD after installing Windows Vista Update Package

Ok, so I am not good with computers, so I have no idea what to do. I have looked everywhere and still cannot find a solution that seems plausible with my error.
The other day I was on my computer and it was running perfectly fine. No freezing, no slowness, perfect. Then, my update thing told me that the most recent Vindows Service pack was available for update, and I like to keep up-to-date with them, so I installed and it was set to automatically update.
I have an IBM ThinkPad t61p with Windows Vista Ultimate.
After restarting the computer I left for a while and came back to the checkdisk running. I had not told it to run, and it had frozen at 74% on step 5/5 of the checkdisk, which I am assuming means that I have some sort of hard drive corruption. So, I was forced to turn off with holding the power button and when it turned on again it went straight to the diskcheck and I watched it until it froze at the same point again. The next time I restarted I got the blue screen of death and now that is all I get whether I start in safe mode, or any other mode.
I had a virus or something a while ago that kept freezing my computer, but I think I got rid of it as it has been working fine over the past 5/6 weeks. I also don't think it is a problem with not having enough RAM because I just uninstalled a couple programs that were taking up a lot of space, and even before that it wasn't close to full.
I get stop: 0x00000024 error and it goes into a restart loop
When I press the blue ThinkVantage button and go to the F11 menu it tries to open rescue and recovery, but after about 2 minutes it goes back to the infinite restart loop.
I also tried running the hard drive diagnostics program and IDK how to interpret the results, but it says:
Main Hard Disk Drive.......HDD0: HITACHI (gives me the id code)

Result......Pass: Controller Diag, Pass: Read verification and speed test

btw according to the results i recommning ya to use ckhdsk /f to ur disk. mstWorker is mentioned wich means read write issues on access files. mstworker is microsoft Tiworker, an process wich examines files an bit. used by winupdate and the indexer.

Problems installing Windows Security Update

Is anyone else having problems getting the new 'critical'
security update from Microsoft to install? I have downloaded the
update from Microsoft's website manually by going:

When I go to install the update I get the error: 'The version
of Macromedia Flash you have installed does not match the update
you are trying to install.'
Here are the steps I have already taken:
Completely removed flash player using the uninstall utility
found on Macromedia's website.[/li]
Reinstalled the latest version (which appears to be
8.0.24.0)[/li]
I went into the c:/windows/system32/macromed/flash/ folder and
ran the UpdateFlash.exe application to ensure that I had all the
latest updates. This .exe tells me that there is an update
available, it acts like it is downloading it and installs it. When
finished it says that the new version will install when I reboot. I
reboot, run the UpdateFlash.exe app again, and the same update is
available again and again.[/li]
I am still unable to install the latest security update after
running the UpdateFlash.exe app which supposedly gives me the
latest version of flash.

I've tryed to repair permissions at least 3x, and also run update_prebindings

I was installing windows vista updates, but the battery was low and the computer turned off, then, the computer doesn´t start, only the hard disc led is light but the screen is black, please can you help me?

Thanks for your advice, but the problem is very complicate, the computer doesn't boot up, only the led te HD is ligthing, I removed the HD and the memory but doesn't work, I've read that the problem could be the bios, and the recomendation is remove the battery of the board to reset the bios, but I think it is very dangerous.

what security event id identifies what user who logged on and installed windows patches? this is for a 2008 r2 domain controller.
User used big fix to install windows security updates.

Proper way to install windows update on Exchange 2010 DAG with one mailbox server in Head Office and 1 mailbox server in DR site both are members of 1 DAG

I have this setup in my exchange environment.
1 DAG with 2 members
- One member is located in Head Office and the other member is located in DR site. All of the mailbox databases are located only in HO (Plan to add additional second member in HO soon). Now what is the proper way to install windows patches on the
member in HO? I don't want to move the databases to DR site as much as possible.

To update the DAG members with new patches, the update process should be managed to prevent all of the DAG members from being offline at the same time.
To do this, I recommend you move the active mailbox databases off a particular server so that it can be patched, and if necessary rebooted, without causing any downtime for mailbox users on that database.

OSD Issue installing updates offline

Hi, I am trying to add some steps to install windows updates offline in a UDI MDT task sequence as per the instructions here.

It looks like there is now an issue parsing the unattend.xml as I now get the error "Windows setup encounted an internal error while searching for an unattend". The problem is very similar to

If I remove the steps I don't get the issue. I checked the unattend.xml and it adds the updates to the servicing section and it does seem ok, guess something isnt though.
Appreciate any thoughts here ...

After doing some data mining, found out from community this is an long standing APPLE problem- which doesn't get much tech support in terms of fixes. I have an HPPavillion DV6 64 bit, Windows 7 OS . After reading an earlier complaint from 2009 in the support community, I ran diagnostics from ITunes which gave the following result. Can someone please help? (I'm not enough of a techie to know what I'm doing or how to locate /reinstall CD drivers. I am searching for driver disc but cannot locate.)

Doublechecking ... did you have CD/DVD drive tests checked when you ran those diagnostics? (I'm not seeing the CD/DVD test results down the bottom of the results where I'd expect to see them.)

Tried to install creative cloud update on windows 8.1. Got error code 50. Tried again then unistalled old creative cloud and tried new install. got error code 50 again.

Creative Cloud is failing to install (error code 50) Does anyone know how to fix this? I'm on Windows 8.1. It was previously installed and requested update. The update failed with same code.

You keep it on the usb stick for after you boot into Windows. From Windows you install the Windows Support software on the stick. Do you realize that you need to buy and install Windows? The Windows Support software you downloaded is only the Windows drivers for your hardware.

How to install Windows 8.1 update from Windows 8 on MacBook Pro)?

I have a MacBook Pro (Late 2011) running OS Mavericks and Windows 8 Pro on Bootcamp.
I want to install Windows 8.1 on my Win 8 partition, but I have no idea how to do it. Most preferably, I wouldn't want to lose all of my files.

You'll be fine with 8.1 it is supported by Apple, first install the new boot camp drivers from http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1720
Launch windows update and install any requires updates then restart. Go into the (windows) App Store and you'll see the option to download 8.1. It will keep all your apps, files, etc.

I have 15" 2010 MacBook Pro running 10.6.8. I need to activate Bootcamp and install Windows 7. I ran software update. Does this update update Bootcamp? Or do I need to comb thru the 4 pages of updates and somehow determine which ones I need?

I have the original install disks from around mid 2010 but I am sure many things have been updated by now. Wouldn't the best idea be to download and install? But the instructions only cover using the original disks. How do I use downloaded drivers?

You have Mac OS X Snow Leopard, so you are going to use Boot Camp 3 on Windows. After installing Windows 7 on your MacBook, insert the Snow Leopard DVD and install the Boot Camp drivers from here. Then, as the Boot Camp drivers that your Snow Leopard disc contain are outdated, open Apple Software Update on Windows to install the most recent Boot Camp drivers.

On Snow Leopard, you can only download the Boot Camp drivers for the Late 2010 MacBook Air. On Lion and Mountain Lion, you have to download the Boot Camp drivers for all the computers. If you try to download the Boot Camp drivers on Snow Leopard with your computer, you will get a message telling that there aren't any drivers to download for your MacBook Pro
