Install wizard hangs upon installation

After downloading and unpacking the trial version of
Coldfusion the install wizard on a windows 2000 server platform
freezes and shows the background of the desktop. Is there a way
around this or is there something not functioning on the server or
possibly the wizard not executing correctly. Please advise.

Maybe consider redownloading the .exe. Or try running it on
another box. Is your w2k server running antivirus software? Might
want to stop that for a short time while the installer runs.

• Quicktime not installed error message upon installation of Itunes

HI,
I have Quicktime already installed (7.7 1680.34) and I have Itunes (10.4.0.80).  Now when I seek to update to the latest Itunes I receive an error message saying 'Quicktime not installed' and then it stops the installation.  Same thing happens after reinstallation of Quicktime.  -What to do now?

Try removing QuickTime from Control Panel before installing iTunes 10.4.1.
Check out this Apple document, if you need a walkthrough of uninstalling from Control Panel -> Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7
Make sure you read the detailed steps, if you run in to a problem.

• Installing Acrobat X - wizard is interupted, installation does not complete

I am installing Acrobat X on a new Win 7 machine with no prior versions of Acrobat.  The installation gets close to the end and I get the message that "the wizard was interrupted before Acrobat Pro X could be completely installed".  The wizard exits and I can't install.
Thanks for any help!!!

That was it!  I deactivated Microsoft Security Essentials and the
wizard finished the installation perfectly.  Thanks so much!

• Programs hang on installation + uninstall

We have numerous Windows 8.1 PCs that hang when trying to install programs.
The installation wizard will go through until the screen where there progress bar and hang at this point, never showing any progress. The same happens if you try to uninstall something already on the image, like AV.
This is happening on PCs with clean images. If you install an application immediately after deployment, the software installs, after any time, manybe because of Windows Updates having installed, no programs will then install due to the issue mentioned above.
Is there a solution to this? There is nothing in the event viewer and I cant find a solution online.

Hi,
So we are not able to install/uninstall any programs in Windows 8.1?
We may take a try with the method mentioned in the below article:
error 1719 windows installer service could not be accessed ....
Open Regedit.exe, navigate to :
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CURRENT CONTROL SET\SERVICES\MSIserver
On the right side, find the WOW64 (If not exists, please create it),
then change the value to 0(Base should be Hexadecimal).
Note: Before making any changes in registry, please backup first.

• Windows 7 install wizard cannot proceed

What have I missed?Well, the official answer is it isn't "supported" on [anything newer than XP|http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/820-2215/deployment-72?a=view], but that doesn't mean it won't work (I've seen people run it on strange versions of Linux, OS X etc). It's probably just the installer that's broken.
If possible, install it on an older/different system first, then copy over the files to your Windows 7 box (it will be in C:\Program Files\SUNWsymon by default). Inside will be the SunMC4.0\Console\es-console.bat file that actually runs things. Edit the top of that bat file to point to your version of Java and it should "just work".
I don't have a Win7 system to test it for you, please post if you get it working so the rest of the world knows too! :)
Thanks!

• Activation error upon installation

E_ADEPT_CLIENT ActivationServiceInfo EXCEPTION Error%20#1009 RESP
This is the message I received upon installation of Digital Editions 1.6.
There's not even a message or step for me to activate the program. The program launches, then this message immediately pops up. I can only click 'Cancel' to close the program[clicking 'Try Again' doesn't help a bit]
What can I do? Thanks

Dear Administrator,
I have just installed Adobe Digital Edition 1.6 and upon finish of installation it launches the program, and a loading bar indicates that the program is trying to initiate for the first time. However, it had kept on returning activation error messages:
E_ADEPT_CLIENT ActivationServiceInfo EXCEPTION Error%20#1009 RESP
I have tried to install it on both of my PC (Windows Vista 64bit) and PowerBook G4, and I got the exact same error message. There were no activation options other than the 'Try again' and 'Cancel' button on the pop-up window. I have also noticed that, unlike other Adobe AIR programs Digital Edition's default installation directory isn't the 'Application' folder. Just wondering if this was intended to happen by default.
I have used previous version of Digital Edition, and was very pleased with the interface and user-friendly functionality. It's a shame that I have to search for alternatives now.

• Trouble getting java install wizard to work with 3rd party software

Hi,
I just installed Java 2 SDK version 1.4.2 under Solaris 8. The installation appears to be fine. I changed
the links and PATH to make sure I'm pointing to the correct version. I am trying to install a 3rd party software called Powerchute Network Shutdown by APC, to be able to shut down our servers remotely, that are attached to our APC UPS. I get these error messages from the software:
starting the wizard
Exception in main calss "JExpressLoader"
java wizard not started properly
unable to start the install wizard
Tech support at APC has been unable to help me. I am wondering if someone can tell me how to verify my java wizard is installed correctly. (I don't even know what a java wizard is by the way, so hopefully
this question makes some sense to someone).
Thanks.

• HP C309a, Windows 7, on software install, wizard shows "PC IP address incompatible with Pntr IP"

Have had this printer working for almost three years (Wireless) but was having intermittent issue lately where the printer did not respond to print requests. (Off line and other indicators). I finally decided to uninstall and reinstall the entire HP Software package.  Now, however, the wireless wizard is defining the local IP addresss of my PC incorrecty, and thus shows it to be incompatible with the printer IP address (Both should be NAT and have been totally compatible. I can't find a way to manually enter the correct PC address to allow the wizard to complete the wireless installation/set up. Printer is working fine via USB, but that is not what I need. Can I manually make the correction, or is there a way to get the wizard to look for the correct address? From the printer, I show no problems on the Wireless Network test report, so it is talking with the router.

What "wizard" are you referring to, the Wireless Setup Wizard on the printer, the Windows Add a Printer Wizard, or the HP Install Wizard?
What brand and model router are you using?
What firmware version is installed on the router?
What is the IP address of the printer, computer, and router (default gateway)?

• Itunes install wizard launching when not needed.

Hello,
I have the latest version of Itunes successfully loaded on my windows XP laptop. I recently needed to use the USB port that I keep my IPOD plugged into for a USB thumb drive. Now when I connect my IPOD to my laptop the install wizard pops up. When I click cancel ITunes successfully launches. How can I get this wizard to stop poping up as I do not need it?
Thanks.
Burke D.

I am a PC Tech and had a customer with this issue. Ran across this post in my search and ended up finding the solution on my own. The problem isn't with the iTunes software but the installer for the GEARAspi drivers. Really the issues is with the file type asssociations in the windows registry. On the system I was working on the HKCR key for .exe should point to the exefile key but pointed to nothing. To fix it create a new txt document and paste the following in (only paste what is in between the

tags):
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.exe]
@="exefile"
"Content Type"="application/x-msdownload"
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.exe\PersistentHandler]
@="{098f2470-bae0-11cd-b579-08002b30bfeb}"
Now change the extension from .txt to .reg. Then right click and select merge. iTunes should now install properly.

• Install wizard appears to stop

I am trying a first time installation on a win7 64Bit fairly new platform. Something downloads, I get asked for permission to install, grant it. Installation Wizard opens, uncompresses to 60% and disappears. Tried a number of times, with and without MS security essentials on, also in safe mode. Identical results in all cases.
Can't identify anything in event log associated with Mozzila or Firefox (not familiar with tool). Ran AV and Malware scans. Nothing. Don't see anything in Win program removal or Revo Uninstaller to suggest partial installation.

Worked fine. Thank you. Would be nice to know this was an option on the installation page, but I might have missed it.

• Install Wizard

I don't have a company and I want to use install wizard to test my project on other platforms. I'm using visual studios 2013 and to get install wizard I must give them a company name, should I just give a fake name? Or is their another way to get install-shield
like as a student?  Is their a better way to make an installer for my project?

Hi GivemeAllYourKnowledge,
Thank you for posting in MSDN forum.
According to your description, I suggest you could try the pvdg42's suggestion check your issue.
If it still could not help you, could you please tell me if you use the extension tool of the Visual Studio Installer to install your project in the VS2013?
If yes, I suggest you could also start a discuss to the Q&A directly to the Microsoft Visual Studio Installer Projects:https://visualstudiogallery.msdn.microsoft.com/9abe329c-9bba-44a1-be59-0fbf6151054d

• New Virtual hard disk wizard hangs after creating new vhd from huper-v manager on windows 7

New Virtual hard disk wizard hangs after creating new vhd from huper-v manager on windows 7 workstation.
Windows 2008r2 hosts the hyper-v server. I can create VMs and VHD's when connecting to the server locally with the hyper-v manager.
The issue arises when I try to connect to the hyper-v server from my workstation which runs windows 7.
I have installed  The Windows6.1-KB958830-x64-RefreshPkg.msu that was suggested for windows 7 sp1.
I can connect to the hyper-v server, create vm's but  I cannot create vhd's  the gui just hangs with no errors in event log or on screen.
The files are there on the hyper-v hard drive but i suspect they are just created by windows as they are written and are not valid.

I've had just the same solution. Both did Hang Fixed size and flexible.
Two parts were taken:
1 - KB939820 for Windows 2003 server based domain controllers
2 - disable using IPv6 on your NIC
Result - both types of VHD's are created normaly.
-----Infrastructure----
Windows 2003 Domain upgtraded to 2008R2
Windows Server 2008R2 Hyper-V - virtualisation clustered
Windows 7 Pro - Hyper-V management
