You need to install it from CD # 4. CD # 4 contains all packages

  • Installing .rpm packages onto solaris 10.

    Hi,
Can anyone help me by providing the steps to install .rpm package into solaris 10 os?
    Thanks

RPM is just a packaging format, and the tools are available on the Solaris Software Companion CD, in the SFWrpm package. You would need to install the package on your system in order to get the RPM tools.
But I think Pascal's point is that the payload is typically Linux binaries, so installing a Linux RPM on Solaris would not be productive. But you could certainly install a source package, for example, or create your own RPM containing Solaris binaries.

  • Install a package from Solaris 10 cd

    Hello,
I accidentaly removed a package (namely SUNWgcc) from the system. I have the Solaris 10 CDs. Is it possible to install this package for the CD? I check the CD and it looks like SUNWgcc on it is not a package that I can install with pkgadd -d.
    Thank You,
    PN.

This does not seem to work from the Solaris 10 CD 1 -
the CD directory structure is different.
Specifically I am trying to install SUNWmfrun which
is in the /cdrom/tmp/root/var/sadm/pkg directory.Don't go there.
Stay in the Product directories on the CDs. You'll find the package there.
However this directory doesn't have a pkgmap file in
it so running the pkgadd command fails. No, that's not a package. /var/sadm/pkg contains information about the package database, so some of the files and directories there have the same name as packages (but they're not packages).
    Further investigation shows another directory,
    /cdrom/tmp/root/var/sadm/pkg/SUNWmfrun/save/pspool/SUN
Wmfrun which does have that file, but running pkgadd
against that directory fails completely.Still not a package.
How can I use pkgadd to add packages from the first
CD in the Solaris 10 installation? The packages are in the 'Product' directory.
Your paths seem odd. You have a normally booted host and you're just inserting the CD? What are the contents of /cdrom?

  • Need to install ORACLE 9i on solaris x86

    Hi All,
Can anyone tell me where I can get DB Oracle 9i for Solaris x86?
If not, what can I use?
    Thanks.

Unfortunately no chance. 9i was never supported on Solaris x86 and is desupported now on all other platforms. Use 10gR2 instead.

  • Attempting to install version 8 on solaris x86

    The installation fails with:
ERROR exception while configuring command-line utilities
    not enough space
The installation claims to require 236 megs. The disk has 2.3 gig free

So, how large is the swap partition? In my experience, default swap size values set by Solaris end-user configuration installation are usually good enough for end-user desktop system but not for developer's environment where you usually run some sort of server and/or IDE and it is usually good idea to increase default swap space values
Just as a reference value, I remember having similar issues installing Application Server 8 on a Solaris system with 560 MB swap space and 128 MB RAM and installation would go through only if /tmp was perfectly clean and system was running only bare bones processes. Since this is fresh Solaris installation, I would recommend reconfiguring the system with at least 1 GB of swap space - that would give you a nice margin if this system is to be used for J2EE development or production.

  • Install gzip package from Solaris 8 CDROM

I was trying to add gzip package from Soloris 8 installation CDROM but was not successful, would appreciate your kind advice.
    regards!!!

Try to remove the package and reinstall it again.
    --> pkgrm SUNWgzip
Don't use CDROM version, try to download the newest version of gzip1.3 on http://www.sunfreeware.com

    Hello people,
I want to integrate a Solaris x86 server on Sun Management Center platform.
If I'm not wrong, SunMC doesn't run for Solaris x86, server and client only as console with Java.
In speat of it, I try to install Sun Management Center 3.0 Agent for Solaris x86.
It seems to be ok, install packages, but when execute es-setup script, intents to create the following directory:
    /opt/SUNWsymon/base/bin/sparc-sun-solaris2.8
I supose that in this directory, SunMC will install sparc binary files
At this point, I can't follow the installation and abort it.
Can anybody give me ideas to install and integrate my solaris x86 server on SunMC ?

could you guide please? If you still have a copy of your SunMC media around, the same ["es-inst"|http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/820-2215/command-line-1?l=en&a=view] program you use to install Solaris Agents should work on Linux as well. It autodetects OS type and will install Solaris packages or RPMs as appropriate.

    Hi
From the Unix prompt enter oemapp console(for v9.x). If you are using earlier versions it is oemapp console (for starting the console) and oemapp dbastudio(for starting dba studio)
For starting OMS enter: oemctrl start oms.

  • Install error for Oracle 10g on Solaris x86 64-bit.  NETCA won't run

    Hi All,
I'm installing Oracle 10.2.0.1 on Solaris x86 64-bit. I run the Oracle installer and all runs well until the NETCA portion of the install. It then errors (error file below). When i attempt to run NETCA outside of the installer i'm getting the same error output. I have verified my OS version and that all dependent packages are installed. I'm not sure what is causing this. Any help would be greatly appriciated.

Creator is now integrated into NetBeans. Download the Java + EE
distribution of the NetBeans 6.1 release from netbeans.org.
When you create a project, you will be led through a series of panels,
where the last is Frameworks. Select the "Visual Web JavaServer Faces"
framework. You will be familiar with the rest, and of course it will
    work on solarisx86.

  • Help with oracle 10g install on solaris x86

hi, i downloaded solaris 10 from oracle site (sol-10-u8-ga-x86-dvd.iso) and i have installed it on vmware. i was going through the installation guide for oracle 10 for solaris x86 and while on the pre-installation steps, i issued this command
    # /bin/isainfo -kv
    and it gave me
    # 64-bit amd64 kernel modules
    instead of
    # 32-bit i386 kernel modules
    as the guide expected.
please what can i do, cos the guide says if i dont see the later, the installation cannot complete.
    thnx

First check you Operating System Bit information whether it is 64 or 32 bit , for this first check any of the command path
    Example ls command
    $ which ls
    /usr/sbin/ls
    $ file /usr/sbin/ls
It will show you whether your OS is 64 bit or 32 bit and accordingly download the software from below link ,if it is showing 64 bit os then you have to download 64 bit database software .

  • Please suggest the fastest way to install Solaris x86 PC 30 boxes

I've already tested one and it's successfully installed.
I have to install 30 boxes , all are same spec.
Please advise the fastest procedure to install.
Note : There is no sparc machine.

Only problem with imaging a Solaris x86 box is that your machines will end up with the same hostid (which is pseudo-randomly generated at Solaris installation time for x86). This may, or may not, be a problem, depending on what commercial software you use...
To avoid this, you have to use jumpstart, or do some serious hacking.
