Hi,  I've just purchased and installed an upgrade from Lightroom 4 to 5.  It doesn't seem to handle raw files authored with a new Nikon D750 camera.  I spoke to the sales rep about this and he gave me a link to the 8.6 DNG converter page with instructions to download.  8.6 only works with Mac OS 10.7-10.9, according to the page.  I'm running Yosemite, Mac 10.10.  Please can you tell me my options?  Lightroom 4 worked beautifully with my older cameras' raw files so I would like to continue using the application.  What should I do?  How soon will Lightroom 5 be able to deal with raw files from a D750.  Many thanks, Adam.

Until the next version of Lightroom is released, you need to use the DNG Converter version 8.7RC to convert your RAW photos to DNG and then import the DNGs into Lightroom.

You don't need to have Lightroom 3 and 4 installed on your computer to install Lightroom 5.  Just install Lightroom 5 and input your serial number for 3 in the previous version box and your serial number for 5 in the upgrade box.

  • Upgrading to Lightroom 5 after a clean install removed my Lightroom 3

    Hi,
I recently had to do a fresh install of Mavericks on my Mac to eliminate some corrupted files.  After the install of the new OS, I am not able to restore applications from my TimeMachine backups.  I previously had Lightroom 3 installed, but I installed from a disc and I can't find the serial numbers anywhere.  I thought I would just upgrade to Lightroom 5 so I bought the upgrade through Adobe to avoid losing serial numbers again, but when I try to install Lightroom 5, it asks me for my Lightroom 3 serial number.
I need help either restoring my old Lightroom 3 app from a TimeMachine backup or figuring out how to activate my Lightroom 5 upgrade.
Thanks so much in advance for your help.

you need your lr 3 serial number to use the lr 5 upgrade, and using timemachine to restore adobe apps is notoriously faulty.
if you still want to try using timemachine, contact apple for help.

    Hi GR Photography,
    Welcome to the Community!
You can certainly uninstall Lightroom 4 if you have transferred the catalog's onto Lightroom 5.
    Thanks!

I have just upgraded from Lightroom 5 standalone to Lightroom 6 standalone. I appear to have been automatically enrolled for a 30 day free trial of Lightroom Mobile and Creative Cloud. Reading the FAQ, it appears that after the expiry of the free trial, if I do not sign up and pay, I will only be able to view my pictures on the desktop but not edit them - surely this cannot be true. How do I un-enroll for the 30 day free trial of Lightroom Mobile and CC?

When I was signed into Adobe (which was a requirement for installing the upgrade), Lightroom 6 told my at the top right corner that I had 30 days left of my free trial of Lightroom Mobile and Creative Cloud. In parallel with this forum posting, I am chatting with Adobe support. he is away to find out how to prevent any synching with Creative Cloud during the 30 day free trial. I do not think that Creative Cloud is an application that gets installed on your PC. I think Lightroom 6 has it built in, and can use it if if you are signed up to the Creative Cloud and Lightroom Mobile (which I am for 30 days)

  • Lightroom 4 purchased through Apple App store does NOT have a serial number - cannot upgrade to lightroom 6

I am trying to upgrade from Lightroom 4.4 to Lightroom 6 on a Mac running OS X (Lion).  I have purchased Lightroom 6 as an upgrade (as I am running Lightroom 4).  The Lightroom 6 installer continues to indicate that it cannot find a "qualifying product" and asks for a declaration of the Lightroom product installed and its serial number.  I am currently running Lightroom 4 purchased through the Apple App Store in 2013; according to all the information I can glean regarding this product... it does not have a serial number (if it was purchased through the Apple App Store).  Does anyone have an idea on how to supply a valid serial number for the Lightroom 6 installer?
    iMac running OS X 10.9.5
Adobe Lightroom 4.4 (purchased in 2013 through Apple App Store)
Adobe Lightroom 6 (purchased online as an upgrade from Adobe Lightroom 4.X)
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Bruce

As I said in the post, a serial number was not necessary to install it; the Apple downloadable version doesn't seem to be serialized.  I have not uninstalled Lightroom 4; it is still running, but apparently in its present form it doesn't provide a serial number for the Lightroom 6 upgrade to use.

  • After upgrade to  lightroom 4.3, my canon 7D is not showing up in lens profile correction

I think this happened after upgrading to lightroom 4.2, but I am not sure as I haven't used Lens profile correction in some time.
When I enable the "Enable profile corrections" checkbox in "lens corrections" The Make and model of the lens is recognized, but the profile field has only 2 optoins, "canon EOS 1D MK III" and "Adobe". It does not have any other options including the EOS 7D that I use. Tried uninstalling and installing again, that didn't help.
I found in the forum that for Win 7, lens profile is supposed to be stored in "C:\ProgramData\Adobe\CameraRaw\LensProfiles\1.0", in my case the LensProfiles directory does not exist. There is a CameraProfiles directory(C:\ProgramData\Adobe\CameraRaw\CameraProfiles).
    How do I solve this?

There is nothing wrong with your lens profiles.
The issue is that you are adjusting a JPG not a raw file.  When adjusting raw files the camera model is not listed with the profile because it doesn’t matter and all of them say Adobe as their source for Canon cameras at least, but when adjusting JPGs the camera may have done certain adjustments internally so it does matter and is why you see the wrong lens-distortion occurring when choosing the 5D Mark III profile with your 7D JPGs.
For the record, I have profiles in both the locations mentioned: under Program Files\...\CameraRaw and under ProgramData\...\Lightroom 4.x.  This makes sense because I have both Photoshop CS6 and Lightroom installed.  The ones under Lightroom are all dated 12/2012 while the ones under Camera Raw are mostly dated 2/2012 with some from 11/2012 and other dates.  The profiles are probably the same, but the Camera Raw ones retain the date of the original profile creation whereas the Lightroom ones all get updated to the same date.  Lens profiles can also be installed with the DNG Converter, although I'm not sure which of the two locations those install to.

I am trying to license my recent download of Lightroom 5 onto my recently purchased Macbook with the serial number of the disk I purchased last year for my Windows PC (an upgrade from Lightroom 4).  I receive an error "The serial number you entered is invalid".  Why does CC not recognize this as a valid serial number?

Soyouca how did you install Photoshop Lightroom?  Please uninstall the current installation using the uninstaller located in Applications/Utilities/Adobe Installers.
Once Photoshop Lightroom is removed please download a fresh copy of the installation files from Adobe - Lightroom : For Macintosh.  The update contains the full installer so please download the latest version of Photoshop Lightroom 5.
You may be asked to enter your serial number for Photoshop Lightroom 4.  You can find information on how to locate the serial numbers under your account at Find your serial number quickly - http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/find-serial-number.html.

  • Upgrading from Lightroom 3 to 4

I previously used Lightroom 3 but recently upgraded to Lightroom 4.  When I installed Lightroom 4, I assumed it would overwrite the earlier version but it did not and now I have both versions on my computer.  Should I just delete Lightroom 3 from my hard drive?  It is obviously taking up a fair amount of space.

If you are no longer using Lightroom 3 then it is safe to go ahead and get rid of it. If you are on a PC you will probably want to use the Windows uninstall feature to remove it. I cannot speak for the procedure on the Mac since I have never used one. Lightroom 4 is a completely separate program that does not depend upon the previous version. It's probably a good idea for you to keep a record of the serial number for Lightroom 3 in case you need to reinstall at some future date. If your Lightroom 4 was truly an upgrade version then a reinstall could require the original Lightroom 3 serial number as well as the one for Lightroom 4.

When you install Lightroom 5, all of your presets (Develop module, metadata, print, etc…) will all get moved over to Lightroom 5 automatically.
You may want to search the forums about presets from LR 3 (PV2010) and PV2012, a place to start is http://forums.adobe.com/message/4224108 as there are major differences between the Process Versions.

  • Lightroom CC showing up as 'Try'  in Creative Cloud app rather than as upgrade to Lightroom 5

I have a current photography plan.  I am running Windows and my PC meets minimum requirements.  Creative Cloud is only showing Lightroom CC as a 'Try' Option rather than an upgrade to Lightroom 5.  Do I just have to bite the bullet and install the trial and CC will sort it out or is there an issue here with licensing?

I got the same thing.  I installed it from the Try button and it would not open in Windows 8.1 from the new desktop icon and I still had version 5.5 in the task bar tray.  I'm waiting nearly and hour now for live chat, so I'd say theres a lot of people contacting Adobe with problems.

  • With my CC subscription should I be be gettibng upgraded from lightroom 5 to CC ?

with my CC subscription should I be be gettibng upgraded from lightroom 5 to CC ?

Yes. Have you checked in your CC Desktop app to see if Lightroom CC is available for Install (and Photoshop should be showing Update). If it's not showing, sign-out of the app and sign back in again. Don't use quit and restart, that's not the procedure. See here: Sign in, Sign out | Creative Cloud desktop app
