  • Create installer and running: MsiError 87: Unable to format error record.

Ever since I have installed the Labview 2011 beta I am in trouble when creating installers that include the NI runtime.
Whether it is Labview 2010 or 2011, when I have created the installer and run it, I -and everybody else- gets the warning:
    MsiError 87: <Unable to format error record.>
    And the installer qwill quit.
When I exclude the runtime from the installer it works nicely. What can I do to fix it?

Did any of you actually read the beta agreement?
Issues with the beta are not be be discussed in public so don't keep posting here.
The terms and conditions of the beta program are posted on the beta site and you agreed to them, so make sure to fully understand them. The only public information is that a beta exists. Everything else is confidential.
Let me put it in a few simple words:
"Welcome to Fight Club beta. The first rule of Fight Club beta is: you do not talk about Fight Club beta. The second rule of Fight Club beta is: you DO NOT talk about Fight Club beta!)

  • Acarbat Freezed after installation and run it for Mac Pro!

    Dear all,
I tried to install Acrobat 9 Pro to one station this morning (or install
Adobe Reader 9 couple days ago), but the system hanged after installation
and ran it. Clicking "force quit", it showed that "Acrobat (no response)".
Following are the general description about the workstation and it is
    connected to Mac server.
Workstation which tried to install Acrobat 9 Pro:
    - Mac Pro Processor: 2* 3GHz Dual-core Intel Xeon
    - Memory: 4GHz
    - Mac OS X 10.5.6
    Server
    - Mac Pro Processor: Dual 2 GHz Power PC G5
    - Memory: 3GHz
    - Mac OS X Server 10.5.6
    - Service: AFP, FTP, Open Directory (control the use login for all
    workstations)
    Installation procedures:
    - Login the workstation as an Administrator (local)
    - Install Acrobat 9 PRO
    - Registration
    - Shut down the workstation after installation
    - Restart the workstation
    - Use my unique name to login (all my files are stored in Server)
    Problem:
    - Double-click "Acrobat 9 Pro" to run the software, it hangs
    or
    - Click one PDF file and use "Open with" to select "Acrobat 9 Pro", it
    hangs again.
Does anyone have the same situation or have any idea to solve this
    problem?
I really appreciate your kind help.

P.S.  If you shut down your computer, the window should have disappeared.  Why didn't you use Force Quit?

  • Installation and run problem

The previous user of my computer used jdk1.3. However, I got error message when I run the program(there is no compile error). The message is:
Error occured during initialization of VM
    java/lang/NoClassDefFoundError: java/lang/Object
Hence, I tried to install jdk1.3.1 and set the new path and classpath. Unfortunately, I cannot install it. I downloaded and installed jdk1.3.1 three times as well as jdk1.4 once. I always got error message:
This self extracting executable file appears to have been corrupted and cannot be executed. You should obtain a new copy of this file to insure that it will execute correctly.
I use Windows NT 4.0. I don't know this is the problem of my machine system or the problem of installation
    Please give me some suggestion!
    Any help is greatly appreciated!

Well, I'd say a Windoze error, but you may try:
    1. Try to uninstall Java, if it's available with the add/remove programs, and then install the new copy.
    2. If it cannot work, try to locate the files of the previous install (c:\jdk1.3 is most likely, but depends on your collegue.) If you find them, remove all. Update your start menu so it won't contain anything java-related, and delete the JavaSoft subdir in your "Program files" directory. Use regedit to edit your registry. Use it with caution - you may destroy your windoze. Open HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, then SOFTWARE, and delete the JavaSoft key (right-click, delete). Go to the WinNT directory, and the System32 subdir. There, delete the files java*.* Now you can try again to install it. If you still unable to do so, well, try to unzip the file (winzip will open it) to a temp directory, and run setup there.
If it still cannot work, try to find another WinNT wkstation, and install the package there. It probably will succeed, so you have the only option - reinstall WinNT and all the programs.
Bad news is that I've seen this happen once, and only Windows reinstall helped. However, "inheriting" a PC from someone, well, I'd prefer to reinstall everything for sure. Ain't need no sticky files of my collegues... :-)

  • Installation and Run Guide?

I don't understand how Sun can build software that is at the forefront like Java is and then not support it very well. Initially a few years ago I got servlets running with Apache and Jserv. Well, now I'm trying to get everything running with the latest and find this web site appalling. There is no instructions on how to get the servlet software running anywhere that I can find on the site. Plus there are links that go nowhere! There is not even documentation to tell you where to put the compiled java code or the html code. Instead I have to experiment with the example programs. WTF! Get some people to document this stuff and make it accurate. You're only hurting Sun's chances of success which as far as I can tell from the company stock, heading south.
I've download the JSDK1.4 and J2SDKEE edition which says that it has the servlet spec 2.4 code in it. Now what? Do I do something with classpath. Is there no longer a servlet.jar file because I don't see one in the directory?
GET SOME PEOPLE THAT KNOW HOW TO DOCUMENT THE SOFTWARE BEFORE YOU GO UNDER! It's tiring working with software as it is and then to fight installation problems.

You are upgrading from apache/jserv to what? Latest apache/tomcat setup?
If so you would have better luck at thier sites to get documentation:
    http://jakarta.apache.org/tomcat (tomcat)
    http://httpd.apache.org (apache)
seeing that sun does not support thier product. If you have code specific questions, Sun has got you covered.

  • Pages 2 doesn't do anything after installation and run!

Just intalled iWork 06 and when I start KN3, it says the application has unexpectedly quit.
When I start Pages 2, it asks me to register, then Pages opens, but nothing happens. I see the menubar and then if I try to start a New Document, nothing happens...
if I try to open a txt doc, it says it can"t open it!
Seems iWork 06 installation is flawed..
I'm working on Tiger, latest current update, on a quicksilver G4 Dual 1ghz.
Keynote 2 still launches just fine!

I don't think that this error is the problem - looking in fnd_td_mig_cmds, it seems that the error accured in 16:07 in 4/9, but after this there were many command that succeed - when the last of them was in 17:45,
Moreover, it seems from fnd_td_mig_cmds that in 6/7 in 13:30 , a few more tables were moved, and now the migration process on 3.64% instead of 3.6%. but nothing new was written in any of the log files, and I can't find any other errors in the table or in the report.
In fnd_id_mig_cmds there are 4 rows with status that is not 'SUCCESS' - the one error mantioned above, and 3 move commands:
alter table "hr"."PER_ALL_ASSIGMENTS_F" MOVE TABLESPACE APPS_TS_TX_DATA" NOPARALLEL NOLOGGING
alter table "hr"."PAY_ELEMENT_ENTRY_VALUE_F" MOVE TABLESPACE APPS_TS_TX_DATA" NOPARALLEL NOLOGGING
alter table "hr"."PAY_ELEMENT_ENTRY_F" MOVE TABLESPACE APPS_TS_TX_DATA" NOPARALLEL NOLOGGING
As I mentioned in my previous post, there are 3 open cmd window on the server of the utility. Can it mean that the migration is just going very slow? and what is it possible to do about?I do not see any similar hits on MOS website except for (Oatm Conversion Is Hanging While Generating Migration Command [ID 445020.1]).
and yes, there are a lot of objects that weren't migrated..I checked some new tablespaces and some old, and they all have segments.I still suggest you fix the issue mentioned in your first post and do the migration again. You may also log a SR and see what Oracle support would suggest.
    Thanks,
    Hussein

  • Help: Acrobat XI  English version installs and runs in Swedish.

I am a USA customer using usa English. I have downloaded the Acro XI Pro install package three times from Adobe,  both after purchase (which seems to be one separate download process) and as a trial download using the Adobe download install program.. Different sites, different methods. Installed manually twicw, allowed the Adobe downloader to install twice and installed on two different computers. Eash time, the opening sequence and various other pages/windows are in Swedish, not English. During the installation process, English is chosen every time.. These Swedish screens include various web links in Swedish as well as "local" screens. I have ten screen shots of the Swedish screens. I spent 2 hours with tech support, tried a variety of fixes, including repair.modify, uninstall re-install, and uninstall and re-downlaod, install: all to no avail. WTF?
    Any insights?
    Windows XP Pro SP3
    500 GB free on HDD

  • Installing and running a Crystal 2008 application on a Windows 7 64 bit box

I am building a small application in Visual Studio 2005 SP2 that runs Crystal Reports 2008 SP2 rpts.   I create an msi file, using the Visual Studio setup project, with the CRRuntime_12_2.msm.  The application installs and runs fine on an XP machine.  I can install it on a WIN 7 64 bit machine, but when I try to run it from its Program Files (x86) location, I get the following error:
    [beginning of quote]
An error has occurred while attempting to load the Crystal Reports runtime.
Either the Crystal Reports registry key permissions are insufficient or the Crystal Reports runtime is not installed correctly.
Please install the appropriate Crystal Reports redistributable (CRRedist*.msi) that contains the version of the Crystal Reports runtime (x86, x64 or Itanium) this is required.  [Here I'm paraphasing] Please go to CR support for more information.
    [end of quote]
What am I doing wrong?   I should not have to install a second msi file; those files should be contained in the msm file.  Right?
    Thanks.

    Hi, Jeff;
Make sure you have compiled your application as 32 bit, and not "any cpu".

  • How can I install and run a Windows program on my MacBook Pro/?

How can I install and run a Windows program on my MacBook Pro?

    You have several options.
1, Use a Virtual Machine like Vmware, Parallels etc... to Create a Virtual Windows Installation and Run your program in there.  A Virtual MAchine will runn in a Window on your Desktop and share your Mac's resources RAM HD space processor. Your MAc desktop will still be available while you run Windows install.
    http://www.parallels.com/
    2. Install Windows on a partition using Bootcamp. It will run a full installation of Windows you can boot into, and run your programs.  The Mac desktop will not available until your reboot the computer and start in OSx instead of Windows.

    3. Use Wine /  Winebottler to run the Application without the need for a complete Windows installation.

  • Apparent mismatch installer and coreinfo

I am attempting to upgrade Win 8.0 x64 to Windows 8.1 x64 (standard editions) using iso images downloaded with my product key.  I checked processor hardware compatibility when installing 8.0 and all is fine with windows 8.0. But windows 8.1 won't
install. The installer claims that the CPU doesn't support PREFETCHW instruction and aborts.
However running "coreinfo" (sysinternals) tells me another story - that prefetchw and all other CPU prerequisites ARE INDEED  met by my Pentium 4. Inclined to believe this as the 64 bit Windows 8.0 runs just fine. What gives?

    Hi CHEN,
Thanks for your reply. I need to be more clear...
    I wrote...
*The installer claims that the CPU doesn't support PREFETCHW instruction and aborts.*
This message did indeed come from an upgrade attempt from Windows 8.0 x64 standard edition (and I had just installed that fresh (as a clean install) from iso image that I downloaded from the windows store using the upgrade assistant. Your reply might indicate
that I have some mileage in trying this approach again  AFTER  installing critical & important updates and turning windows firewall off temporarily.
    I also wrote..
*using iso images downloaded with my product key.*
I gave up on the upgrade route and downloaded iso images instead using the Media Creation Tool to USB ISO images of Windows 8.0 and Windows 8.1 Standard x64.
Windows 8.0 installs and runs just fine using clean install from USB ISO image.
WINDOWS 8.1 install consistently fails during installation...
The following error message is flashed on the screen (captured by video)
    Your PC needs to restart.

SMART is a technology that monitors the drive for signs of impending failure. You can verify that SMART is indicating a problem in Disk Utility. Select the hard drive and look at the bottom of the window. It should look like this:
If the SMART status is not "Verified" then you should back up your drive and start shopping for a new one.

As to #1, why don't you just download a fresh copy of 2.7 from the Adobe web site onto your MacBook? That would save you a bunch of figuring out how to create a USB stick to install from. Load it from here
I suspect Ian is right about #2, that you won't be able to do it.
#3: no problem. You're allowed two installed copies--you aren't supposed to run them at the same time.
