If you have a pendrive, you can use Universal USB Installer to copy all files into it, and install Linux.

  • Redhat Ent. Linux on Mac Pro

    Greetings,
This is my first time posting to the Apple forums. I had a interesting request today at work. An employee asked if I could install RedHat on a Mac Pro.. We recently received the Mac Pro in the last month. Has anyone had any experience installing RedHat Ent. Linux 5 Desktop or server on this HW platform? I've searched for more information but everything points more to the MacBooks only.
    thanks

Red Hat (server or desktop) will most definitely run just fine in a VM using either VMWare's Fusion product or Parallels. In this way, RH Linux would run simultaneously on the MacPro. Trust me, there is PLENTY of horsepower on a MacPro to run both simultaneously no problem. You most likely could also utilize BootCamp and run RedHat directly from boot. I would poke around on the Bootcamp threads and Apple documentation on that. I happen to believe strongly in VM's, they provide the greatest flexibility by running multiple OS's in parallel at the same time, and in cases like Red Hat, with no degradation of performance. Fusion is around 70 dollars for the software btw...not a big investment.
Good luck on whatever you decide.

    hi manuel,
i faced some issues while trying to install oracle 8.1.7 on RH 7.0, after contacting the support , came to realise that oracle is not supported for 7.0(due to Kernel problems) but only till 6.2 . i guess we have no option but to switch to RH 6.2.

  • 9iAS Installation on RedHat 6.2 Linux -- Reports Server

The installation of 9iAS went pretty smooth. The HTTPD server works, portal works but reports are a dismal failure. Since developer6i reports and forms were installed under ../9iAS/6iserver setting the environment so that they all are started at bootup would be a big plus. Further, I cannot get any reports to run from either the command line or web. I have gone through many notes but still no avail. Would someone PLEASE guide me in setting up the correct environment variables for all elements of 9iAS and integrated start. This has never worked correctly even after step-by-step checks using installation guide and release notes. The bosses want to use Windows, I have sold them on Linux for the time being, so please help.

When setting up the environment variables, I found it easiest (in a development environment) to just add the entries to the /etc/profile file. The following are just examples and may or may not apply to your particular installation:
    # Set the oracle home variable
    ORACLE_BASE="/u01/apps/oracle/products"
    ORACLE_HOME=$ORACLE_HOME/8.1.6
    # Now to export the variables to the environment.
    export ORACLE_BASE ORACLE_HOME
    Hope this helps!

    Dear Avi Miller,
I have successfully installed both of servers (VM Server 3.0.2 & VM Manager 3.0.2) as below
+ VM Server 3.0.2 on Dell PowerEdge 1950
+ VM Manager 3.0.2 in OEL 6.1 on Sun Fire X4100M2 Server
Refer to Oracle VM Server 3.0 Document, they recommend to do Discover Oracle VM Servers to VM Manager first of all step then do anything else like Creating a Server Pool so I try to do Discover Oracle VM Servers in many times but still not success.
What I try to do Discover Oracle Servers as below:
After I install both already I start to Discover Oracle VM quickly
    1. Log into Oracle VM Manager
    2. Select the Hardware view.
    3. Select Discover from the Actions menu. The Discover Servers dialog box is displayed.
    4. Enter information about the Oracle VM Server(s) to be discovered.
    5. Specify an IP Address (or rang): IP_of VM Server and Click Add
    6. Put password of VM Server Agent
    7. Click OK
Wait a minute the Status of VM Manager show fail and when I click Detail it show as below:

  • Adobe AIR on RedHat and SUSE Linux

    Hi,
I am trying to install AIR 2.5 runtime on RedHat Linux and SUSE Linux . When I try to do it on RedHat, I get the following error:
error while loading shared libraries: libpangocairo-1.0.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
Can anyone help me fix it. I assume I will get something on the same lines on SUSE as well? Also, has anyone successfully done what I am trying to do? I can see that Adobe AIR page doesn't mention RHEL and SUSE (but openSUSE) supported, but still.
    Thank you!
    -Amit

The only version that works on RHEL 5 is 2.0.4. Check this thread for more details:
    http://www.cherpec.com/2010/12/adobe-air-2-5-1-glibc_2-7-error/
It works as I tested on RHEL 5. But to ship AIR heelp to customers, this is for sure not a solution.

  • Installing Netbeans on RedHat Enterprise 5 Linux

    Hello,
After installing both the jre-6u2 and jdk-6u2 RPMs I have had no problems getting netbeans to work...
However what caused me to stay up rather late trying to get this thing installed originally was the fact that the installer asks specifically for the location of the j2se sdk location (not the normal jdk) but when the path to that sdk is given it says that it is not a compatible sdk. I doubt that this is a spelling mistake on the installer but I am confused to why the j2se-sdk is not needed.
If anyone can clear this up for me, I would be greatful.

  • RedHat or Suse Linux?

    Hi.

    1. Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3
    2. Suse Enterprise Server 8

I am using Oracle With SuSE for last 2 years .I have seen the following advantages
SuSe have a very good Oracle on SuSE Linux forum which have lot of participants
some very useful RPMs for automatic startup and shutdown and for setting kernel parameters during startup.
Installation was always easy and no crashes at all .
Currently I am running SLES8 and oracle 9iR2 (database and apps server ) with Async-IO
The only problem I found was hyperthreading CPUs but that may generic to all distributions

Just tried the documentation links and they still seem broken. I have just clicked on the link http://download-west.oracle.com/docs/cd/B14099_19/idmanage.1012/b14085/toc.htm
and it returns a 404 page not found. This link is the Identity Management Integration Guide HTML
