Installation: Blue spinning wheel but no apps showing

Installation: I have just accepted an invitation to join the creative cloud, but when I got to download apps (ie, InDesign) a blue 'spinning wheel' appears and much like the spinning wheel of death... has continued to spin for several minutes. I have shut down my computer, closed all applications, but nothing seems to be working. Does anyone have any other ideas as to why this is happening/what to do?

  • Blue spinning wheel, apps will not appear

    Hi,
    I'm hoping someone can help...
I have been using Creative Suite CS5 for some time and recently decided to try the free trial of Creative Cloud. However, all I get in the apps section of the application manager is the blue spinning wheel. (screen grab below)
I've uninstalled all the CC software and re-installed again, still no difference. I don't have any firewalls or virus software, I'm not blocking pop-ups, I've tried Chrome as well as Safari, I'm not on a network, we have a really good broadband connection and I'm using a brand new MacBook Pro... so I am at a loss as to why I still can't get the software to show up in the menu, much less download it. I have used the Creative Cloud software successfully before at work, so I know how it is supposed to function.
I have seen this problem on other threads, and have followed the advice given in the answers, but it still hasn't worked.
Can anyone shed any light on this?
    Thanks in advance.
    Louise

    HI Jenn,
I would suggest to try repairing your disk permissions which will help.

Are you trying to just download the Lightroom trial software? If you just need the trial you can download the Lightroom 5.5 installer here. http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=5791

  • Creative Cloud Desktop App stuck on blue spinning wheel after update.

After searching the forums, I found a post suggesting a fix.
    I performed the following steps:
    1- uninstalled CC desktop app
2- deleted all the preference files in the OOBE folder for my user profile
    3- rebooted
4- downloaded CC desktop app again and reinstalled
I get stuck on a blue spinning wheel after the login prompt. All I can see is the behance tab and the apps tab. No home screen, no files tab, no fonts tab... I can go into preferences but cannot make any changes, as it goes back to waiting. My internet access works fine, meanwhile.
Can someone provide suggestions? I'm spending a LOT of time trying to resolve this.
    Thank you

    This worked for me:
Open Finder, click on Go > Go to Folder. Type in ~/library and hit enter.
Open Application Support/Adobe folder and rename OOBE folder to OOBEold.
Click on Apple icon on the top left, select System Preferences
Choose the network that is currently connected to internet that can be Ethernet or
Airport(Wireless). Click on Advanced button and click Proxies Tab.
Under 'Select a Proxy server to Configure' Uncheck all the proxy check boxes, then uncheck 'Use Passive FTP Mode (PASV)'.
    Hope this helps someone else.

  • I installed indesign CS5 on new macbook pro and keeps freezing with spinning wheel once the app opens. Is there an issue with OS Mav or font issue or a plist I can pull. All other Adobe products work.

Migration should never be done with any Adobe program.
If you have done Migration, you have to UNINSTALL first (if even possible) and then download Adobe Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool and run that also. When this is done, restart your computer and install the programs from an original Adobe Installer.
Other question is, if your OS is supporting that version. You can try it, it is not officially supported, but it might work.
But CC will work, upgrade to CC2014 (without additional cost), use that as it is better anyway.

  • For no reason, "Firefox is not responding", get blue spinning wheel, screen freezes, fades out- Comes back after a little bit.

When in Firefox, for no apparent reason the screen freezes and a blue spinning wheel appears. I have to wait while it says that Firefox is not responding. Then the blue wheel disappears and the screen is back. This has also happen, even when not attempting to do anything such as scroll down or click on anything.

  • Spinning wheel but not switching on

when i switch on iMac I get white screen with Apple logo and spinning wheel but it doesn't go any further

    Hi,
I'm going to write all of this in case it may be of use to someone else!!!
    IT'S WORKING, hurray.
This is what I did. I used two Macs, a laptop, portable HD and memory stick, various websites and forums and all afternoon!
As I could boot up in Windows I downloaded a copy of Mac Drive (had to do this on a laptop/memory stick as my copy of Vista is 32 bit and so have no internet through Windows). Installed this on my Windows partition and after trying various ways of getting in and a few complaints from computer I managed to see my Mac HD (think I had to double click on it, right click wouldn't do it and got various warnings) and extract all of the important files (photos and music mainly). Put these on a portable HD that I have.
Then rebooted from OSX install DVD, erased Mac partition and reinstalled Mac OS.
Thanks baltwo for your suggestions, it all helped narrow things down.

Have you tried a safe start by holding the shift key when you boot? If that works, and it can take a while to complete, see if a regular boot now works. If it does, you need to free up space on your hard drive.
If a safe boot doesn't work, you need to either boot from an OS X DVD or go into target disk mode to connect via firewire cable to another mac to free up space on your hard drive. You need 5GB min, with 10% to 15%, or more, better, for systems usage.  If you have a backup, move some data files to it, erase them and empty the trash.

  • IMac has gray screen with spinning wheel, but cannot login

After power failure last night, iMac has gray screen with spinning wheel when turned on, but does not go to login screen.

Having the same problem myself. iMac locked up and I had to hold the power button to turn it off. Ended up with the apple logo screen and spinning wheel. I tried the disk repair and got the same message as yourself, in that it couldn't repair it.
I linked up an external hard drive and installed OSX on it and booted from it. I was able to recover some files, but most I couldn't. I'm currently giving it a one pass erase in the hope (long shot) that a complete pass through the hard drive will show up any faults. Has anyone had this problem and been able to continue using the same hard drive? I really don't relish the thought of having to send it off to be replaced :-/
Assuming that the erase goes well I plan to put OSX back onto it and then run disk utility from directly on the drive and see if any faults show up. I'm kicking myself for not taking advantage of TimeMachine, but we live and learn.

  • Cannot open Logic Express - process but no app showing

Hi, it's been a few months since I used Logic Express - 9.1 something. I had reason 4 installed but upgraded to reason 5 a few weeks ago. When I open Logic Express, the icon bounces around and when I go to activity monitor there is a process, but the app never shows... Ran software update but there is no updates for Logic...
    any ideas?
    thanks,
    dan

I am still having the problem. A few days later, I tried to start Logic and nothing happens, even though there is a process in activity monitor. Should I try uninstalling and reinstalling logic? Or are there log files to see what is going on?

  • Hi guys I'm really in need of some help. I have an IMac I3 for a while now I've been having a problem of my machine refusing it shut down , it goes to a blue screen with a spinning wheel but doesn't shut down.  And now won't boot from install DvD

Please some one help me ...
    A) my mac won't shut down with external HD connected (if it's been used)
    B) there are disk permissions that can't be fixed SUID stuff ..
    C) I have now verified the Mac HD and it tells me it's corrupt in bold red writing and to start up from install DVD
    D) it won't boot from DVD so I cannot run the repair , initially the machine was spitting it out on start up , now it appears to be attempting to boot off DVD , well it sounds like it is .... BUT it's hanging with the Mac Logo and a wheel ... For um .... 30min now...
    E) weirdly when OSX is booted off the hard drive , it won't recognise the Install DvD or the applications one... It just spits them out....
I had an old PPC 17" and it was a beaut .... Never had a single problem with it ...
I bought this one December 2010 and it's been nothing but issues for a computer in excess of £1000 I'm extremely disappointed ... And weirdly the shutting down issue started when it was a week out of warrantee ... I feel conned and am almost at the point of throwing it at a wall and buying a PC

Ok so I've done what you said and this is what it's come back ....
I don't know that these are the errors , but they're the things which don't look right ...
    Throughout the shut down there is a recurring line ;
    It says ;
    Com.apple.launchd 1 0x100600e70.anonymous.unmount 301 PID still valid
    Then there are 2 more which I think are related ;
Com.apple.securityd 29 PID job has I overstayed its welcome , forcing removal.
Then the same with fseventd 48 and diskarbitrationd 13
Oh and on Launchd1 : System : stray anonymous job at shut down : PID 301 PPID13 PGID 13 unmount...
Then the last process says "about to call: reboot (RB_AUTOBOOT).
    Continuing...
    And stops ...
Hope this means something to you ... Thanks again for your help so far :-)

  • Spotlight SOMETIMES searches mail, but mail.app shows no results

    Hi folks,
I've been anxiously waiting for the Mavericks release, hoping it would, once-and-for-all, fix this aggravating issue I've had with spotlight mail searches.
I recently carried out a full wipe-and-reinstall on my iMac, by creating a bootable clone of my main desktop, then booting from that drive and using disk utility to erase my main hard drive, and selecting that drive in the Mavericks installer.  This means that I had a 100% pristine installation of Mavericks - no old preferences, no old settings, no weird filesystem permissions issues, and yet this problem STILL persists.
I have three different Gmail email accounts, all connected via IMAP, and all saving the emails locally for offline viewing (although I don't believe this is an option anymore in Mavericks).  When I first added these accounts to Mail.app, I was unable to search them either in Spotlight or in Mail.app.
I have since undergone multiple attempts to fix it, and occasionally during the process Spotlight has worked(although it shows multiple historical versions of sent mails due to auto-save), but searching from within Mail.app remained broken no matter what I did.
These are the things I've tried:
    running 'mdimport -r /Library/Spotlight/Mail.mdimporter'
adding and removing ~/Library/Mail to the spotlight 'do not index these files' privacy setting
adding and removing the entire hard drive to the 'do not index' list
using 'mdutil -E' to erase and rebuild the index
manually removing the Envelope Index files from ~/Library/Mail/V2/MailData, then re-launching mail to force it to rebuild the index
using the menus within mail to rebuild the mailboxes
This has been broken for several versions of Mac OS, and it's obscene that there hasn't been any progress on the issue.  Please tell me that somebody has some new ideas that I haven't tried yet - I've been struggling with this headache literally for YEARS, and it has really soured me on an otherwise excellent Apple experience.

    I finally figured it out!
The trick was that I had some old versions of Mail.app in an archived folder, and these versions were screwing up spotlight, even though they haven't been run in years.  Removing the old versions, then updating the spotlight index and rebuilding the Envelope Index files seems to have fixed my search.
For others who, like me, have spent YEARS of constantly re-indexing things to fix it - there is an odd quirk in the way OS X associates files, where it seeks out Applications anywhere on your computer (including external hard drives), and the presence of those Applications can mess things up even if you aren't running them.  This seems to be rarely discussed in proposed solutions, but it was absolutely the fix for me.
