Installation - cannot create a printer port.

I am reinstalling Acrobat 7 from a CD after upgrading my computer fromW-XP to W7 64bit, and it says it cannot create a printer port - and so, cannot create a PDF from Office applications.  Read and edit work OK, and it works OK on an older machine with W7 32 bit.  Upgrading online to V7.1 did not fix it, nor did the repair option.  What now?

The AA7 print driver is not compatible. Neither is AcroTray. Do Acrobat and Distiller both open? If so, then you can download a PS driver (possibly form Adobe or select one of the HP Color PS printer) and install that driver. Open the driver properties and change the name to Adobe PDF and the port to File. You can then print to this printer. However, the file that is created is a PS file (PRN extension typically) and must be opened in Distiller to create a PDF. A little extra work. If you are not happy with that, then you should purchase Acrobat XI to go along with your new OS.

    Hi everybody,
    I am facing a problem with my ECM installation process.
    All the Steps have been followed until the step of creating domains.
    When I browse to C:/Oracle/Middleware/Oracle_ECMHome1/common/bin and try to run config.cmd then for a long time there is just the configuration wizard opening,nothing else proceeds.
    For your information all the steps were smooth flowing .I had a problem where when ECM was getting installed , due to low memory space it gave an error ...but i freed somespace and continued the pending installtion by clicking on the RETRY button.
    I am clueless about this situation.Also couldnot find the solution over the internet.
    Somebody please help.

  • [SOLVED] Installer cannot create filesystems

    I am trying to do a new install of Arch from the Apr-12 iso. My disk drive is gpt partitioned and I have prepartitioned it with two new partitions for Arch / and /home. So, when I am preparing the disk during the installation, I am skipping the partitioning step and going to the filesystems and block devices step. I go through the menu sequence to select one of my partitions, tell it to create an ext4 and use it for /. Then I give it no label and no ext4 options. It fails.
    The message flashes very quickly at the bottom of the screen and is immediately covered back up by the blue installer screen. I have tried to stare at it and have caught that it is complaining about some expression not terminated properly. I have done nothing but select a partition from a menu and made other menu selections.
    Also, the installer sees every partition on my drive as "raw". Is this normal? All other installers I have run do a better job of showing what kind of filesystem they have (or don't have), etc. Maybe there is something wrong with the way my gpt partitions are being detected by the installer.
    Finally, mjheagle8 on freenode was trying to help me with this last night. He suggested I open a new tty and run mkfs.ext4 commands to create the filesystems. That was successful, but I still don't know how to get the installer to take them and use them for / and /home.
    Thank you for any advice you can give. I can find nothing in the Wiki docs about what to do if the filesystems step fails. It just says to go back, correct the errors, and redo.

    You can format with mkfs and then skip formatting with 'Manually configure block devices, filesystems and mountpoints' in installer. But it's really strange that installer can not handle it...

    Both these situations have cropped up on my MacBook Pro since the last update.

    The 'Winmail.dat' problem has been extensively covered in these forums, I would search for that (a Google search works well) and unfortunately I have not seen the pdf print problem before, but assuming the software is current and functions normally (other than the pdf print problem) I have no suggestion other than the obvious (but time consuming) re-installation of Office.

    Mountain Lion fails to install saying it cannot create the recovery; I had a similar problem with Lion and the Apple Store that helped me resolve it gave me an installable version of Mountain Lion on a flash drive for my inconvenience....is there some trick I am missing or do I need to make an appointment with a genius...

    I have the MacIntosh volume and the Boot Camp partition only.  I know that when I installed Lion, I had to go through a whole back-up and recovery of Windows and then re-format the drive.
    The tech at the Apple Store had a previous life as a MSCE and was very helpful.  I believe he even said that I should not have htis problem with Mountain Lion which is why they gave me the flash with it onboard.  I was in the process of starting a new job when I went to Lion, so I have waited to do this next and probably last upgrade to this old MBP since I doubt Apple will support this MBP in Maverick.
    I do not have another installation, so that is not an option.  I will try to create an external, I have plenty of hard drives around and see if I can get it done that way.  It might take me a week or two to get back to it, but I will comment back upon completion of that effort.  Thanks for your help....Dave Iverson

  • After Installation Thunderbird cannot create any e-mailaccount in Windows 8.1

    Dear friends,
    I have installed Thunderbird on my recently installed Win 8.1 system. TB installes, opens, but then I cannot create anything else but a Newsgroupaccount. The wizard for creating a new, or importing existing e-mailaccounts does not appear at all. The column for Accounts, the list with the Messages shows up, but remains completely blanc not showing anything at all but a Grey field. I've tried copying my Profile folder from my 'old' Linux machine, and the addressbook has been copied allright. But I cannot write any message, as no single e-mailaccount has been created, cannot be created, no matter how i approach this menu.
    I have de-installed and removed everything, also in registry, and installed again. No changes. Same problem.
    is it possible that my Win 8.1 sytem might be the culprit?
    Sincerely, Rudi

    Perhaps I should add a screendump of what my Thunderbird 31.2.0 look like. . .

  • Adobe PDF (Print) presets: "Cannot create the file. The folder may be write protected."

    In Windows 8, this feature of InDesign CS6 only works for the local Administrator account:
    File -> Export -> Save as type: Adobe PDF (Print) -> Save -> Save Preset... -> OK
    If you try it with any other account this error message is given: "Cannot create the file. The folder may be write protected."
    For anyone else encountering this problem, a workaround is to run as administrator.

    Which permissions exactly did you set, how did you set them and what did you set them to?
    The path to the Drop Box would be /Users/someuser/Public/Drop Box but you obviously wouldn't want the ownership and permissions to be the same on all four directories.
    Have you tried using Disk Utility (/Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility) to repair permissions? That would probably be the best way to ensure they're correct.

    I had the same problem with my BPC 7 installation yesterday and followed all the proposed solutions in this thread with no luck. When I checked,  the OSoftResSvrZFP_EN.dll was missing - you might be missing this too. Anyway, I solved it by running the BPC 7.0 server installation exe and then selected 'Repair'.

  • Create TCP/IP Printing Port for OfficeJet Pro 8600

    I need to print across a hardware firewall (from wireless to wired networks, different subnet), so I need to create a standard TCP/IP printing port in Windows 7.  Does the printer use RAW on TCP port 9100 or are there other settings I need to configure?
    Thanks.

    Hello,
    I see that you're having an issue with the printer not being able to print over a firewall.
    I believe the easiest way to do this would be to unblock the ports rather than adding a printer through windows.
    Router settings for HP Printers
    Router should be broadcasting in “G Mode only”. This normally means turning “Mixed mode” off.
    For Dual Band Routers, make sure they have disabled the 5ghz band and should only be operating on 2.4ghz
    Mac filtering should be disabled
    Security type should be “WPA 2 Personal”
    On some routers they have a “hardware firewall”, so the below ports would need to be opened
    UDP- 5353 67 80 547 53 5222 5223 5355 137 138 139 443 427 161 514 3702 5357 445 3910 Port range: 9999 - 65535
    TCP- 445 80 68 8080 443 137 138 139 427 5222 5223 9100 445 515 161 9101 9102 9103 9110 9220 9290 9280 9500

  • Cannot Create Directory During Installation

    I've been going through the various fixes posted by the top users (a very helpful and intelligent bunch) but I haven't seen a fix for my particular issue. After downloading iTunes v7.6, during the installation process I receive a message:
    Cannot create the directory C:\WINDOWS\Installer\{80FD852F-5AAC-4129-B931-06AAFFA43138}. A file with this name already exists. Please rename or remove the file and click retry, or click cancel to exit.
    I have searched my system and there is no other file with that name on my hard drives anywhere. Does anyone have an idea why this is happening and what can be done to resolve this issue?

    I found the answer myself. I entered into safe mode with the c: prompt. I was then able to locate and delete the file in C:\WINDOWS\Installer. I then went and deleted the files via add/delete program files. Per previous recommendations, I also deleted all iTunes and Quicktime folders/files in C:\Program Files and C:\WINDOWS\system32. Then I emptied the recycled bin, rebooted the computer and reloaded iTunes/Quicktime off the Apple iTunes web site. I hope this information helps someone else.

  • Cannot create the RTP Session: Can't open local data port

    Hi,
    I'm trying to connect to two webcams simultaneously in the order:
    MediaLocator inputLocator1 = new MediaLocator("rtp://hostname1:8000/video");
    MediaLocator inputLocator2 = new MediaLocator("rtp://hostname2:8000/video");
    But I get this during the second connection:
    Cannot create the RTP Session: Can't open local data port: 8000
    And I can't see the video from hostname2.
    I did a check via netstat, and it seems that both mycomputer is receiving the video from both hostname1 & hostname2:
    TCP mycomputer:3236 hostname1:8000 ESTABLISHED
    TCP mycomputer:3264 hostname2:8000 ESTABLISHED
    TCP connections to both host were established!! But why can't I see the video of hostname2???? I've thought of 2 possible reasons why I cannot see the video of hostname2:
    1. Is this set of local data port maintained by Java? i.e It's not the same as the TCP port 8000 that I see in mycomputer's netstat. If yes, Java has assigned its local data port 8000 to hostname1, so it fails to reassign that port 8000 to hostname2 while hostname1 is still connected. Any other way to fix this apart from changing the portnumber of hostname2?
    2. It has to do with the custom.jar? I've read in an article somewhere in the forum that the custom.jar has to be customized (using JFMCustomizer) to receive video from two hosts with the same portnumber. Can someone elaborate the necessary boxes to check in the JFMCustomizer?
    Thanks much,
    Rach

    After all this while, I finally figured out the problem. In my code, I use MediaLocator to code the receiver and the transmitter. E.g.:
    MediaLocator inputLocator1 = new MediaLocator("rtp://hostname1:8000/video");
    player1 = Manager.createPlayer(inputLocator1)
    MediaLocator inputLocator2 = new MediaLocator("rtp://hostname2:8000/video");
    player2 = Manager.createPlayer(inputLocator2)
    Manager would complain "Cannot create the RTP Session: Can't open local data port: 8000" because port 8000 is already used up by player1, i.e.:
    mycomputer:8000 maps to hostname1:8000
    mycomputer:8000 cannot re-map to hostname2:8000
    To work around this, I'll need to use SessionAddress. SessionAddress provides the flexibility to do an independent local port mapping, e.g.:
    mycomputer:5000 maps to hostname1:8000
    mycomputer:5002 maps to hostname2:8000
