  • Installer Applications Lost

I have just downloaded the combo system 10.4.5. to overcome some probs I have had since updating to that version via software update. Download went ok and a folder has appeared on my destop.
However, when double clicking to install, I get the message that there is no default application specified to open the document.
    Advice would be appreciated.

Your installer application should be found in:
    Applications -> Utilities.
If it really is missing, then you may need to download http://www.charlessoft.com/ 's Pacifist to extract it from your installer disks.
If it is there, and simply not recognized as the default application to open the type of document you want to open, simply, control-mouse click the document that won't open with the Installer application, and select Other... Then make sure that "Always Open With" is checked, and select the Installer.app from the file open dialog from its proper location.

  • Installation disk lost

I have lost my Mac OS installation disk for leopard 10.5, is there any way to go ahead with new installation ? Need help as my mac is not coming on just a gray screen and folder is displayed.

You can call Apple Customer Support 1-800-767-2775, provide the Serial Number and specifications of the Mac, and for a fee, a replacement set of system discs (if available), can be ordered.
However, the discs will be for the original version of OS, that was pre-installed, when the Mac was manufactured. This OS may not be OS 10.5.
Will it boot OK in Safe Mode? See What is Safe Boot, Safe Mode? (Mac OS X)
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107392 Takes a while to run, but it usually "fixes" problems.

  • Cloned Mavericks installation has lost the Recovery HD drive

Finally my DVD Superdrive died on my early 2008 Macbook Pro 2.5 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4,1 (A1260), with 6GB RAM (Max)
I took the opprotunity to take  out the Superdrive and used a caddy to install a second  hard drive in its place.
Before installation I cloned my Mavericks installation from the old 750GB Toshiba HD (Drive-B) onto a new 1TB Seagate Hybrid (Drive-A) using CCC. I then took out  Drive-B, installed the new Drive-A in its place, and installed Drive-B in the superdrive caddy. (See picture)
Upon restarting I booted into my new Drive-A installation and have tested it for the past 24 hours. All is indeed working well, and I can boot from either drive. Both drives are identical, except that the cloning process did not copy the "Recovery HD" partition from Drive-B onto  Drive-A (from which I am currently booted).
I now want to take Drive-B out and put it into its own external enclosure, and replace it with a newly formatted 1TB Seagate Hybrid (Drive-C).
I have two questions and would appreciate some considered advice please. Thanks in advance...
On  Drive-C I want to install a bootable copy of Snow Leopard for software compatibility reasons; however doing so will therefore mean that I have no "Recovery HD' partition anywhere on my system. The possible solution to restore a "Recovery HD" partition may be to run the "Install OS X Mavericks.dmg" (which I have a saved copy of on another partition) by copying it to Drive-A's "/Applications" folder and run it from there to repair my installation. Is this correct?
My second question is, what would be the best and most efficient way to run a such a setup on my laptop (2 x 1TB bootable hard drives, one running Mavericks and one Snow Leopard)? If I run a Spotlight search for an application, I would not want two instances of two separate installations to pop up. Should I go into each installation and preclude its Spotlight from searching the other's installation disk? Would it be better to run the Snow Leopard from an external drive and use Drive-C as a Time Machine of Drive-A?

    Update...
    Regarding question 1
I managed to reinstall the OS X Installer on Drive-B and tested it - it worked fine and restored my Recovery HD drive.
After testing it for a few hours, I then did the same for the new Drive-A. It went swimmingly.
I now have a Recovery HD drive on both drives, confirmed by using Terminal to check using "diskutil list" (lists all connected drives)
So now I have two Mavericks installations on my comp, and keep updating the B drive with A's changes as I go along using CCC. I have just ordered another Seagate Hybrid 1TB and will use that for the second drive in my comp and use B as a secondary external storage.
Thanks for the advice folks and would still appreciate 'considered' advice about question 2 - how best to use two separate drives installed in one comp.

  • Solaris installation DVD lost

    Good morning,
In conclusion of thread "https://forums.oracle.com/forums/message.jspa?messageID=10881333" (Installation of patch "118833-36"), I would like to install Solaris 10 on a T5120 machine. Therefore I need Solaris 10, edition 06/06 (1/06/2006).
Does anybody know the link where I can download that DVD? (I have an Oracle support login that I can use for doing the download, but I don't know the URL)
    Thanks
    Dominique

For this platform, you can use any versions that are egal or more recent that Solaris 10 8/07 (U4) or Solaris 10 10/08 (U6) for SATA DVD Support.
The U11 version is downloadable directly on www.oracle.com website. But any older versions, please check MOS document ID # [1277964.1|https://support.oracle.com/epmos/faces/DocContentDisplay?id=1277964.1]

  • MAJOR Creative Cloud installation issues - any advice?

I purchased Adobe Photoshop a few weeks ago on an older computer and now want to install a second copy on a new computer (Mac Mini, brand new with plenty of memory and disk space)... I started by downloading Creative Cloud to install. On both Firefox and Safari, the link to install comes up as an 'address not understood...' Looks almost like a bogus link. If I skip this step and jump directly to Photoshop installation, it takes me to a page that asks me to click on the link to install Creative Cloud... and now I'm in a circle.  If I switch over and install Adobe Applications Manager, I get a message saying that the "Installer failed to initialize, please see Adobe Support Advisor to detect the problem." When I click on the link in that box, the site tells me that the product is no longer available. I've been working on this problem for about three hours now, and every link I can find online to the Creative Cloud download goes to a bad address. I've also empties the browser cache, zapped the PRAM... all kinds of things. Still, no luck.  Anyone got an idea of what might be causing this? Install was so easy a few weeks back on my older Mac (both are running Mavericks most recent OpSystem....).
Any ideas or suggestions greatly appreciated!

  • 10.5 Installation disks lost - purchase new 10.5.6?

I'm a bit of a newbie here, but use my MBP daily for self-employed design business.
I'm running 10.5.4 via online updates, but I can't find my installation disks for 10.5. I don't have any problems at the moment, but would like to have disks to rebuild if necessary.
Searching online all I can find is a new retail 10.5.6 DVD. Is that going to be ok? Can I install 10.5.6 over the top of 10.5.4? Will it upgrade? Will everything be OK?
What level of backup should I do first? Is there any documentation to point me in the right direction to make it go smoothly?

A retail version of OS X will not include the iLife suite (iPhoto, iMovie, iDVD, GarargeBand, iWeb) and will be more expensive than replacing the machine-specific discs that came with your computer.
As sig said, call up Apple and request replacement discs. You'll want to have your computer's serial number handy.
As for backups, you can use Time Machine for backups and/or a third party program, such as Carbon Copy Cloner or SuperDuper!

  • Oracle 10g agent installation problem -- please advice. Thanks.

I am trying to push an agent from a 32-bit CentOS 4.5 machine (where I successfully installed EM Grid Control with Database & that's working fine) to a 2-node Oracle 10g Clusterware/RAC, each machine has 64-bit CentOS 4.5. The questions I have are:
    1. Is this mixture of 32-bit/64-bit possible?
    2. When I am performing agent install, everything seemed to work (with manual root.sh execution provision) but at the end it's giving a message
"Failure Preinstall Script Not Executed, Install Is Failed. Run root.sh Is Not Executed, PostInstall Script Is Not Executed. Collection Logs Is Success."
And I don't see any agent* directory anywhere in any of the intended RAC Cluster nodes -- also, no error message log!
    Clusterware/RAC versin: 10.2.0.3
    EM Grid Control: 10.2.0.1
I have no clue what are the meaning of these!
Can somebody please tell me how to fix it (no upgrade suggestion please)?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
I noticed that you'd like to install OEM Agent for 32bit on 64-bit machine.
Please look at the link below.
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/oem/htdocs/agentsoft.html#101x
Because OEM Agent on different platform are released separately.
    eg.
    For x86linux is Linux_Grid_Control_agent_download_10_2_0_2_0.zip
    For Linux x86-64 is Linux_x86_64_Grid_Control_agent_download_10_2_0_2_0.zip
So could you please install OEM agent version for linx x86-64 ?
but I can not find OEM agent 10.2.0.1 version on link above. Do you have this version for 64-bit ?
    Regards
    Jason

  • After mavericks installation I lost I photo!!

    Hello,
I reset my Mac book air (mid 2011) and after restore Lion 10.7  by Internet recovery I loaded OS x 10.9  Mavericks But i do not have anymore I photo.
I followed the guidelines but can not find it in purchases because I photo was pre-installed and I do not have USB or DVD.
    How can I do?Shoul I buy It?

Log out of the account you are currently in (Apple Menu, Log out UserName).
On the login page, look for another account (the old one you had before Mavericks).
Many have created a new user account when running the Setup Assistant after installing Mavericks.

  • ASM installation failure from Oracle GRID under Windows 7 64 bit

    I am a rookie..I am running Oracle database 11gR2 running on a Windows 7 64 bit system.
I am implementing ASM onto my system solely for learning purposes
The implementation of ASM has changed between database releases 11gR1 and 11gR2 such that it is no longer configured locally but is now implemented from within Oracle GRID. Unfortunately, the book I am using to study my OCP from was written at the time of 11gR1 so I can no longer follow its instructions to create and configure ASM. Instead of using DBCA I now need to use ASMCA to configure ASM.
As a preliminary requirement I successfully installed Oracle Grid and configured it to run on my standalone server.
I created two partitions on my harddrive ...... drive G: and drive H: with intent of using them as my ASM disks. 45 Gig and 50 gig in size respectively formatted with the NTFS filesystem.
I ran ASMCA in an attempt to create an ASM instance
I specified these partition drives '\\.\G:' and '\\.\H:' in the disk discovery path which were successfully picked up.
However when ASMCA executed the creation process after some time it failed with the following message:
One or more diskgroup(s) creation failed as below:
DiskGroup mydisks creation failed with the following message:
    ORA-15018: diskgroup cannot be created

Ok. As above the ASM instance appeared to have been successfully created so as part of my investigative process to confirm what the script actually did successfully execute I attempted to log into the ASM instance to see how far it would get. It fails with the following result

Can t see any evidence of any ASM service on Windows Task manager started/stopped or otherwise. Neither can I see evidence of a CSS service.

    Hi,
    read the documentation:

  • How to format HDD and reinstall OS on macbook pro mid 2010 without the installation DVD.

After updated the OS with MAVERICKS becomme my macbook very slow. So I want to format the HDD and reinstall the OS but without the installation DVD - (lost).
Could some one advise me how to proceed? Thank you

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
OS X Lion and newer include OS X Recovery to reinstall Mac OS X without the need of a DVD. See > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4718
First of all, copy your most important files to an external drive, or make a backup of your files. Then, hold Command and R keys while your Mac is starting, open Disk Utility and erase Macintosh HD by choosing it in the Disk Utility's sidebar and going to Erase tab.
Finally, close Disk Utility and reinstall OS X
