Installation CD not compatible with new Macbook Pro

I have a new 13" Macbook Pro. I bought the Airport about a year ago and just purchased a new laptop. I try to install from the CD but it says it can't because the OS isn't supported. Online, apple says it is. What's wrong? Is there a way to download an install? I don't have snow leopard, it's the version right before it.
Thanks

Welcome to the discussions!
You can download AirPort Utility 5.5.1, but it requires an operating system running 10.5.7 or later on Leopard, the previous operating system to Snow Leopard.
If you are not sure what operating system the MacBook Pro is running, click the Apple icon at the upper left of the screen and choose About This Mac.
If you need to update your operating system, click the Apple icon again and select Software Update. This should update your system to a version that will be compatible with AirPort Utility.

  • Toneport UX2 not working with new MacBook Pro 10.6.2 Snow Leopard

I do some casual recording using a Line 6 Toneport UX2. Previously i was recording on an older Mac Mini. Recently i upgraded to a new Macbook Pro (Snow Leopard 10.6.2)
The new Macbook is not responding at all when i plug in my toneport, all the software for the toneport is installed.
I think the problem is that my toneport is not compatible with an intel Mac. Is this right?
And if it is can i fix this problem with some kind of upgrade for my toneport software(gearbox)?
And if there is no solution can someone recomend a new audio interface for me to get? Under $200.

I use a Toneport UX2 with my intel iMac. I never had the problem you are describing while using Gearbox with GB. However your problem sounds very similar to one I have experienced when I loaded up Line 6 Pod Farm. I discovered that when I start Pod Farm and get the message you mentioned, if I quit Pod Farm then immediately start it again, everything communicates just fine and I'm back in business. I would like to see a fix for this glitch, but for now I just start twice and then get to work.
Give it a try! I am curious to know if you are in the same boat as me.
As a side note, Recently Line 6 offered Pod Farm for no charge to registered owners of a Line 6 interface such as ours. You may want to check it out. It gives you some more options to play with.

  • WD External Hard drive not working with new Macbook Pro

I have recently upgraded to a new Macbook Pro and when connecting a WD 1 TB Passport external hard drive, it doesn't appear on the MBP, but when I connect it to my old Macbook running 10.5.8, it appears normally. Is this a problem with formatting or an issue because it is USB 2.0...
Any help appreciated as I have a lot of data on the hard drive and would like to be able to use it with my new MBP.

I'm on Lion, with similar issues with two WD external HD. But what I found fixed the problem was to:
    1. go to the manufacturer's website (in this case Western Digital),
    2. locate my external HD, download the download.
For instance, I downloaded the WD Drive Utilities for Mac (for My Passport for Mac USB 3.0):
    http://support.wdc.com/product/download.asp?groupid=219&sid=157&lang=en
    Install the downloaded app.
    3. Plug in external (this part, I think is important) directly into your tower or laptop (as opposed to through a USB multi-plug extender). Possibly this is because you access more power?
[I'm trying to remember in which order everything happened. But I think at this point the external hard drive mounted]
    4. Install the software that is found on the external HD (in my case, it was a brand new device, so that had never been installed).
    5. Run "WD Drive Utilities" and run diagnostics.
    6. Test to see if it holds. Unmount the External HD. Unplug. Replug in and see if it mounts.
Note: I have not yet tested to see if plugging in the external somewhere other than directly into the tower also works. But I think the main problem is getting it to mount the first time and installing the software. That's what I think.

  • White A1016 wireless keyboard not pairing with new MacBook Pro

I still have (and love) the original white bluetooth Mac keyboard (model A1016, with numeric keypad and function keys). It won't pair to my new MacBook Pro. It's discoverable, appears in the list, I can select it and try to pair. Then it sits with the spinning wheel for some time before giving up.
Oddly, if I press "return" during the spinning, it (very) briefly displays the passcode, but of course by then it's too late, and fails saying that I got the passcode wrong!
This appears to be a Bluetooth system preference problem - is anyone else seeing this?
This Apple technote suggests that this keyboard should work with iOS, whereas the original aluminium one doesn't (although it's not entirely clear)... if it works with iOS, I can't see why it won't work with OS X 10.8.4!

My old Bluetooth Mighty Mouse won't work with my newer MBP running Mountain Lion, either. I suspect that the keyboard is incompatible with your new machine/OS X 10.8.x.

  • Dongles compatible with new macbook pro

    Hi
Can anyone list dongles compatible with the new macbook pro in India?

If you mean USB wireless modems, I recommend you avoid them. They all depend on vendor software that's usually of poor quality and is rarely updated. Use a mobile Wi-Fi hotspot instead. Much more useful, and no software needed.

  • Photoshop CS2 is NOT compatible with my MacBook Pro!

Despite Apple's marketing hype to the contrary, I had the following experience with the CS2 Suite. I loaded it from disks, registered and activated it, and then immediately opened a photo image for editing. I tried to crop the image, and the response was "That operation cannot be completed - Your scratch disks are full." Now, I have ~90GB available on the "scratch disk," so it is NOT full.
I called Adobe Tech Support. The tech said "CS2 was not really designed to work with the new Intel chips. If it's not working for you, we're sorry, but there's not much you can do about it. No 'patch' or software upgrade is anticipated soon."
The tech said that he hadn't heard much about this issue; is that for real? Am I having a unique problem for some reason? At least he didn't charge me $39, that's one benefit I can think of. Any hope out there for a solution to this issue from the Apple side?
    17" MacBook Pro   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

I just completed a CS 2 project involving both Photoshop and InDesign on my MBP 17 and had only two problems -- InDesign prefs got corrupted. I cleaned them out and then went from there with no problems until I opened a figure in Photoshop -- the program informed me I was missing components and needed to reinstall Photoshop. But it let me edit the file. Once I was done I did a reinstall of CS2 and everything seems to be fine now.
I have noticed a prevalence for prefs files to get trashed on this machine more so than on my G5 iMac or my PPC PB.

  • Old conversations are not synchronized with new MacBook Pro

    Hello!
Yesterday I purchased the newest Retina MacBook Pro (medio 2014), upgraded to Yosemite and started installing and setting up my applications. Sadly, I seem to have a problem with iMessage, since it's not synchronizing my messages properly.
Up until now I've been using an iPhone 3GS, a MBP (medio 2009 w. Yosemite) and an iMac (late 2012 w. Yosemite), and everything seems to work fine, since all the devices share and can access the same conversation history. However, when I started setting up iMessage on my newly purchased RMBP, the conversation history with each of my contacts isn't synchronized even though I'm able to send messages. I tried logging in/out, delete/add my iCloud account, but nothing seems to work.
I assume all of my messages are synchronized with iCloud. Of course it would make sense if it took some time for Apple to recognize and synchronize the messages, but it's been 18 hours since I started messing with iMessage. Am I being to impatient?
Does anybody know how to solve this problem?
    Thanks in advance.
    Best regards,
    Theis

    Hi,
It is a yes, no and maybe answer.
You have to grab several items form the old Mac and place them in the correct places on the new Mac.
As you seem to be using Yosemite all round that task is easier (that is a relative easier),
    See this pic
Note the Path Bar across the bottom that list where this Archive folder is.
It can be shortened to ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.iChat/Data/Library/Archive
(you can type or Paste this in the Dialogue box in the Finder > Go Menu > Go to Folder)
In the Messages folder is also an Alias that links to the Attachments folder.  (I will come to that later)
    You also need this spot.
This is Still in ~/Library but not in the Containers bit but just the Messages folder.
It has the Attachments folder and the various chat.db items.
Move the Contents of the Attachments from one computer to the new one.
Move ALL the chat.db items (I must admit I am not sure about leaving the incompatible ones behind).
Make an Alias of the Attachments folder and drag it to it's proper position (in the Containers/../../Library/Messages folder)  (replace the one that is there so it is linked to the moved stuff).
Now go back to the Archive folder.  If you are using the Show Path Bar (view Menu of Finder) then you can Right Click the folder icons
Select the Archive Folder and then Get Info on the right click.
At the Bottom highlight your name in the list for Permissions.
You Should have Read and Write Permissions.
If you now use the Gogwheel type icon you can see if you Own the Folder.
If it is greyed out like this one then you Own it.
However you are most likely to have to "Apply to Enclosed" items as you have just moved things.
Repeat for the Chat.db and Attachments (~/Library/Messages folder).
And then the Alias just to be sure.
There is not an Export option that would be simpler.

  • Display not working with new Macbook pro

My son gave me his 1 year old Macbook pro 6 and in connecting it to my Apple cinema display it gets all these horizontal broken red blinking lines across the whole screen. Disconnected and reconnected the new adaptor I bought and it seemed fine till i tried to begin work and the lines retruned.

    Hi there shelley99,
The behavior of multiple displays had changed in OS X Mavericks. I would recommend reviewing the information in the article below.

  • How to upgrade Lr3 & CS5 to be compatible with new Macbook Pro retina screen

I believe that Adobe has recently released upgrades to Lightroom and CS6 that make them compatible with the retina screen.   First of all, is this correct and secondly, if I have Lr3 and CS5, how do I upgrade?   I know it's a dumb question.

  • ViewSonic VA912b not working with new MacBook Pro i7

    Hi --
I just received my new MBP on Wednesday, along with it I purchased the Griffin Video Display Converter (http://store.apple.com/us/product/TY600VC/A?fnode=MTY1NDA3Ng&mco=MTY4NzA5MDY) so I can use the computer with my ViewSonic VA912b 19" monitor w/ DVI at my desk, and my television w/ HDMI in the living room. I've plugged the monitor into the adapter and nothing is happening after hitting 'Detect Displays' in the Display menu. For the computer I had prior to this (2007 MBP), I had no problems hooking up this monitor and it would automatically find it. I looked through the user's guide and did some searching on the web and I'm finding nothing about this topic...does anyone have any insight into this?
    Thanks in advance!

  • ATY radeon x1900 not compatible with Final Cut Pro X ???

It looks like my ATY radeon x1900 Graphics card is not compatible with Final Cut Pro X and the new motion and compressor?
    I have a Macpro 2 x 3Ghz quad core Intel Xeon with 16gb RAM
Any suggestion to which card I should Purchase?

There are several threads here and abroad that mention the installer will notice and approve the ATI 5770 in older mac pros.
I just now bought a 5770 from Apple's online store for my 2007 Mac Pro 2,1 so I'd have the compatibility if I ever decided to upgrade -- assuming at some point they'll run out of stock and not make any more.
Keep in mind the 5770 has 1 dual link DVI and 2 mini display ports so you might need to pick up necessary adapters depending on your monitors.
Hopefully FCPX will be usable in the near future and an upgrade will be pragmatic.
(I sure hope they don't pull this stunt with the next Logic upgrade.)
I may have a 1900XT for sale soon.
