Installation disaster - notrhing relevant on forums

How on earth can I get to speak to someone about the disaster this has all been. I would like my money back and the chance to re-install version 11 which at least I knew how to use.
    The download went OK - but it seemed that what I wanted to do required plug-ins. So I downloaded the CS5 Optional Plug-in installer - but they came in a file format that my Apple Mac didn't open so I downloaded Adobe Extension manager - but it won't install the optional plug-ins because it says I need PhotoShop Elements 12 or higher - WHICH I HAVE INSTALLED! I restarted my computer. Re-downloaded all the programs. I uninstalled the earlier versions of Elements - but no - nothing fixes it. And to make matters worse the instructions with the new version for creating various things, like photo collages really don't match the program - they refer to things that are not there - as does the Help material on the web - which is why I embarked on the download in the first place. Still I cannot get simple access to a means of printing more than one picture on one page.
    I have wasted half a day on this!!!!! I now have a version of elements that seems completely mystifying to someone who has been running all sorts of computer programs since the early 1980s. It is not fully functional - and the options to talk about this in the Help site are ridiculous - why not somewhere where you can just state your problem - the chat experience (twice) was abominable. And how on earth can the forum help??? Except by teaching me to suck eggs.
    Can I have my money refunded and the capability to reinstall Version 11 - since 13 adds a whole lot of annoying crap - like 'faces' which I don't want - iPhoto is annoying enough.

log in as administrator and kill all processes not needed and try again. I've seen cases where one of these free download tweak applications (like "Memory Defragmentation" and stuff like that) caused that error.

Hello everyone and welcome to the SQL Server Disaster Recovery and Availability forum. The goal of this Forum is to offer a gathering place for SQL Server users to discuss:

How to ask a good question
Make sure to give all the pertinent information that people will need to answer your question. Questions like “I got an IO error, any ideas?” or “What’s the best technology for me to use?” will likely go unanswered, or at best just result in a request for more information. Here are some ideas of what to include:
For the “I got an IO error, any ideas?” scenario:
The exact error message. (The SQL Errorlog and Windows Event Logs can be a rich source of information. See the section on error logs below.)
What were you doing when you got the error message?
When did this start happening?
Any troubleshooting you’ve already done. (e.g. “I’ve already checked all the firmware and it’s up-to-date” or "I've run SQLIOStress and everything looks OK" or "I ran DBCC CHECKDB and the output is <blah>")
Any unusual occurrences before the error occurred (e.g. someone tripped the power switch, a disk in a RAID5 array died)
If relevant, the output from ‘DBCC CHECKDB (yourdbname) WITH ALL_ERRORMSGS, NO_INFOMSGS’
The SQL Server version and service pack level
For the “What’s the best technology for me to use?” scenario:
What exactly are you trying to do? Enable local hardware redundancy? Geo-clustering? Instance-level failover? Minimize downtime during recovery from IO errors with a single-system?
What are the SLAs (Service Level Agreements) you must meet? (e.g. an uptime percentage requirement, a minimum data-loss in the event of a disaster requirement, a maximum downtime in the event of a disaster requirement)
What hardware restrictions do you have? (e.g. “I’m limited to a single system” or “I have several worldwide mirror sites but the size of the pipe between them is limited to X Mbps”)
What kind of workload does you application have? (or is it a mixture of applications consolidated on a single server, each with different SLAs) How much transaction log volume is generated?
What kind of regular maintenance does your workload demand that you perform (e.g. “the update pattern of my main table is such that fragmentation increases in the clustered index, slowing down the most common queries so there’s a need to perform some fragmentation removal regularly”)
Finding the Logs
You will often find more information about an error by looking in the Error and Event logs. There are two sets of logs that are interesting:
SQL Error Log: default location: C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.#\MSSQL\LOG (Note: The # changes depending on the ID number for the installed Instance. This is 1 for the first installation of SQL Server, but if you have mulitple instances, you will need to determine the ID number you’re working with. See the BOL for more information about Instance ID numbers.)
Windows Event Log: Go to the Event Viewer in the Administrative Tools section of the Start Menu. The System event log will show details of IO subsystem problems. The Application event log will show details of SQL Server problems.

hi,I have a question on sql database high availability. I have tried using database mirroring, where I am using sql standard edition, in this database mirroring of synchronous mode is the only option available, and it is giving problem, like sql time out errors on my applicatons since i had put in the database mirroring, as asynchronous is only available on enterprise version, is there any suggestions on this. thanks ---vijay

10.4.7 installation disaster

please help me...
got an error during 10.4.7 installation don't really know why...
now i don't manage to use .dmg files it says (device not configured)
if i open automatic software update it suddenly quits
if i connect usb pen they are not recognized...
i did repair permissions and disk repair via the install CD 1
a disaster!!! i got lot of work in it and really can't format the harddisk and if i connect my external usb harddrive it won't recognize it
what can i do?
if i look at the OS version it says 10.4.7 as if it was updated... i don't know what to think
i'm using a MacBook Pro 2,0 ghz 2GB Ram

My advice would be to do an Archive and Install from the original install CDs that came with your computer. This will hopefully repair your computer's ability to open DMG files without deleting anything important from your system.
Then, run Software Update to install 10.4.7 and other important updates.
After Software Update finishes, be sure to repair permissions. Remember, always repair permissions using the Disk Utility in your Applications>Utilities folder, never from the install CDs.

Another delivery/installation disaster!

Incident: Dec. 10-23, 2013
We had picked out a dishwasher - an LG LDS 5040ST - that would fit the slightly too small space in our kitchen and found that Best Buy online had a great sale price. But because we wanted their installation service as well, I figured it would be easier to go to our local store (Pasadena), purchase the dishwasher and set up the delivery and schedule the installation at the same time. Which we did on Dec. 10, 2013. We explained to the appliance rep (wearing a Pacific Sales polo shirt) which dishwasher we wanted and he started looking in his computer. He pointed out the word "discontinued" on the screen and said that he couldn't sell us that particular unit. He also pointed at a "0" on the screen and said they didn't have any on hand. But he did have a newer model for $100 dollars more. I pointed to the number "35" on the screen, and he said that was how many they already sold. My husband and I weren't convinced, so we went home.
An hour later, I called 888-Best-Buy and told the phone rep (#1) our story. She said "discontinued" meant they weren't getting any new units in, and 35 was the number they had in the warehouse. So either the Pacific Sales guy was grossly misinformed or was trying to upsell us. (Gee, I wonder...) Anyway, the phone rep took my order and my money for the dishwasher and their installation service. We scheduled the delivery for the following Wednesday Dec. 18, 2013, and she told me to expect an e-mail in a few days to schedule the installation.
I received the e-mail on Dec. 11 and called on Dec. 12 to schedule the installation. The phone rep (#2) got very upset and excited, explaining that the rep who took the order wasn't supposed to put the unit and the installation on the same order (how was I supposed to know that??) and now everything was messed up. After being on hold for about 15 minutes while she tried to find a supervisor, she came back and said she wasn't able to figure it out. I told her that, since she had my e-mail address, why not just let her boss fix the problem and e-mail me when it was resolved. Needless to say, I never received an e-mail.
I called the next day, Dec. 13 and spoke to Jessica (phone rep #3). She also got upset and excited when she saw the unit and installation on the same order. After more than 45 minutes on the phone/on hold/finding supervisor/called back, she said she had everything resolved and that both the delivery AND installation would indeed occur the next Wednesday. I hung up the phone with a sigh of relief. A premature sigh, as you can probably guess.
On Tuesday Dec. 17 I received a robo-call confirming the delivery the next afternoon. I took the day off work to welcome the delivery guys and the installer. The delivery guys arrived as promised and delivered the correct model dishwasher. I signed the papers, sent them off and waited for the installer. The installer who never came. I called and asked Sandra (phone rep #4) when the installer would be here. Sandra informed me that no installation was scheduled. I told her about my conversation with Jessica, to which Sandra replied with a long list of jargon about receipts and tickets and CMS systems and the computers are down and we have to transfer X to Y to Z. By that time I was livid and demanded to speak with a supervisor.
Sandra transferred me to Travis in the de-escalation department (phone rep #5). This guy has nerves of steel, because I really let him have it. I told him about the Pacific Sales guy and the four phone reps and that I had a box full of dishwasher in my dining room and a sinkful of dirty dishes. He was extremely apologetic and offered me a $150 Best Buy gift card. "Nothing doing!" I said, "I want cash!" He refunded $75 of the installation on the spot and promised that he would try to get the installer to my house in the next few days. Which he didn't.
After several back-and-forth phone calls over Dec. 19, 20 and 21 (Travis never did give me a direct number, instead telling me to call the 888 number and I would be transferred. Which I did, but the two times I called - phone reps #s 6 and 7 - nobody knew who Travis was or that they even had a de-escalation department) he managed to schedule the installation for the next Monday Dec. 23, 2013. "Not acceptable!" I said, explaining I would have to take another day off work to wait for the installer. Travis then refunded me the rest of the installation cost and apologized profusely once again.
I received a confirming robo-call on Sunday night Dec. 22, and the installer arrived on time on Monday Dec. 23 as promised. The installer made the necessary modifications and installed the dishwasher. We have been using the dishwasher for two months and it's working like a charm. But what I had to go through to get it, nobody should have to go through.
It shouldn't have taked me a week and a half and talking to 7 phone reps to get a dishwasher installed. The first phone rep should't have fouled up the order. Phone rep #2 should have transferred me immediately to a supervisor, who knows what Jessica was thinking, and Sandra needs serious customer service training. Also, Travis should have given me his direct phone number, and every phone rep should have the de-escalation department on speed dial. Best Buy's internal communications and resolution policies are horrible. I don't care how low your prices are - I've had it with Best Buy!

The installation never finishes, and i dont get an error either, so i hav no clue of what goes wrong here..
I have internet connection, i have MySql as it is required, i am running windows 2012 server
The screen stays in phase 1 forever (have let it run 2 days)

Installation Problem - Java SDK 1.4.1

I have a problem with installing Java on my machine at home that you may be able to help me with.
Here are the Details: 1) I installed the most recent java SDK on my machine. 2) I set the Autoexec file with the correct PATH statement. 3) Set the correct CLASSPATH statement 4) The "Java -Version" statement gives the correct reply that it is version 1.4.
Below is my AutoExec.bat file

Problem: Trying to compile a simple "HelloWorld" Program with "javac Helloworld.java" produces the error "Bad Command or File name".
Issues: Command Line in Windows ME requires 8.3 format. Inserts tilde "~" and a number into the names of the files. even using a short name such as "HelWrld.java" inserts a tilde because of the "java" extension. Have tried using a "jav" extension but that does not work as the error is the same.
Question: How can I get rid of the "Bad Command or File Name"?

My First Java Progam (for Windows with Java 2 SDK v1.4.1)
Follow these instructions EXACTLY.
1. Download and install the Java 2 SDK, Standard Edition. You can find it here:

Select the download for your operating system and be sure to download the SDK (rightmost column) and not the JRE. (The JRE is only the Java Runtime Environment, which does not include the Java compiler and other tools needed for software development).
2. Read the README and installation instructions! Read these instead of asking questions about installation etc. in the Java forums.

Things to note:

Save this program somewhere with the filename "HelloWorld.java".
Things to note:
- The case of text is important. Don't type "Helloworld", "helloworld" or anything else. Also the case of the filename is important (even though Windows has case-insensive filenames!).
- Watch out that Notepad doesn't append ".txt" to the filename. The file should be named "HelloWorld.java", not "HelloWorld.java.txt".
4. Open a command prompt and go to the directory that contains the file "HelloWorld.java" (with the CD command).
5. Compile the progam with the following command:
javac HelloWorld.java
Things to note:
- If you get something like "Unknown command: javac" or "Bad command or filename", you did not (correctly) add the bin directory of the SDK to the PATH (see step 2).
6. Run the program. If you didn't get any compile errors, you now have a new file "HelloWorld.class" in the same directory. Run the program with the following command:
java HelloWorld
Things to note:
- If you get: "Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: HelloWorld/class", you have typed "java HelloWorld.class". Leave off the ".class" at the end. You are typing a class name here, not a filename.
- If you get something like: "Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: helloworld (wrong name: HelloWorld)", you have typed the class name wrong. Note that the case is important (i.e., don't type "helloworld" but "HelloWorld")!
- You don't need to set any classpath here. In Java 1.4, the current directory is included in the classpath automatically. For older versions of Java, you may need to add the current directory (".") to the classpath, like this:
java -classpath . HelloWorld
7. Congratulations with your first working Java program. Now follow these links:

Hi.
I am a veteran user of your ColdFusion support forums. Over the last decade or so I have been visiting the site daily (indeed several times a day: I get notified when any post is made on any of your ColdFusion-centric forums), and answering as many of people's questions as I can. For the last few years it's been via the web UI so you can go check my participation, but prior to that I was using the forums via NNTP, and my participation during that period is less easy to quantify, but it's to the tune of a few thousand posts / answers to people's questions. I consider myself an asset to the forums, and the ColdFusion community. I mean this just as "for the record", rather than any attempt to inflate any sense of my worth.
However as of today - unless you take remedial action as I will go on to detail - I will be surrendering my membership of your forums, and ceasing all attempts to assist people there.
Why am I considering doing this? Well firstly I will reproduce a thread from your forums, then I will discuss it. Where possibly the quoted material below is as it was initially posted, and if it's not exactly as originally presented, this is an accident on my part. I have highlighted some points I wish to discuss with you, simply for ease of cross-reference.

First, ColdFusion is one word.
Second, what is a WIndows 8 server?
Third, and most important, you have provided ZERO detail. We can't help you if you don't provide something other than "none of our cfm web pages work". ColdFusion has logs (<coldfusionDir>/logs) JRun has logs (<coldfusionDir>/runtime/logs). Even if the Windows event viewer shows nothing, there should be info in those log files about what is going on.

Clearly I wish to speak to you about this censorship your moderator is choosing to undertake.
Firstly, let me say that I understand the perception that forums require moderation. Personally I think this position is of dubious merit, but so be it: it's a common practice. And I generally understand when I see things that have been moderated, or when a moderator step in and advises that they consider someone's wording contravenes forum guideline. I understand all this.
However.
I think the behaviour of your moderator in this situation is unacceptable. Let me elaborate.
Firstly, The highlighted comment of Jason's was removed. This comment stated - correctly - that the correct spelling of ColdFusion is as one word, as per his guidance. This comment was censored/redacted by your moderator. For the life of me, applying my most "socially modest" mindset, I cannot see what was wrong with Jason's comment, and why it needed any follow-up on any description. It was accurate advice.
The original poster's response to Jason was indeed a bit gratuitous, but - really - so what? No-one is taking offence here, and there's nothing anyone reasonable could take offence at. The person is just being a bit childish in their response. And, I hasten to add, at their own expense, I think. I see not reason to have redacted what they said.
We now come to my responses. One entire response I made was redacted (I've only just noticed this, whilst proofreading this letter). A number of tracts was redacted from my own initial post on the thread. Here I was simply explaining why Jason said what he did, and why it's good advice. And it was good advice. Your moderator here has removed both good advice, and an explanation as to why it was good advice. Again, I cannot fathom why your moderator has done this.
Following on from this I back-up Jason's assertion that the original post was inadequate on detail for us to help. This too is accurate. I reiterated this to try to make the origial poster see that Jason wasn't simply being unhelpful - to the contrary - pointing out we need more information before we can help is very good initial advice here. Advice that has now been deleted.
Next is some slightly contentious wording on my part, I suppose... at least if one doesn't actually read what I say, instead simply zooming in on one word and assessing it out of context. I pointed out that being abusive and writing in all-caps is unnecessary, and makes the person look like a dick. Note I didn't say the person was a dick (that would be abuse... very mild though), I was saying that given the behaviour the person was engaging in, they could be perceived that way. Which is... accurate. And saying someone is a dick and suggesting they could be perceived as a dick are two different things. One is ad hominem attack (bad), one is simply an observation / guidance (not bad).
At this point Jason drew my attention to this censorship going on. And this is another thing that I think is inappropriate on the part of the moderator. I have little problem with them thinking that content on this thread needs censorship (whilst they are wrong, they are entitled to their opinion), to silently and anonymously redact people's posts is an inappropriate - and to be frank cowardly - handling of this situation. If the moderator has an issue with something written on the forums, the courteous and professional thing to do would be to advise the participants that they have overstepped. This would give us a chance to remediate the situation, or to simply disagree. Simply excising someone's work - because this is volunteer work we are engaging in here - is unacceptable.
If anything ought to have been censored from the thread it was my last comment. Whilst it was accurate, I did use harsh sentiment, I accept this. However in the given situation, I don't think I have been the most out-of-line participant in proceedings.
I would like you to remediate this situation, and here is how I would like you to do it.
Restore Jason's original post. There was no reason to censor it.
Restore grazan's all-caps post. It was doing no harm.
Restore my second post (not the one laughing at Jason's joke, the longer one I discuss above). Again, useful and accurate information was removed from this post, and there was simply no reason to have had done so.
You can leave my last comment redacted. Fair enough. Whilst I stand by what I said, it is unhelpful in the context of the thread.
I also want the moderator to be censured, and I would like them to apologise for their behaviour, by posting on that thread explaining that they understand their behaviour was inappropriate and unacceptable.
If they are a community volunteer, they should be dismissed from their position. They are clearly not capable of fulfilling this role in a professional, well-balanced manner.
If they are an Adobe staff person, then the censure will have to be sufficient, although I think they should be relieved from their duties as a forum moderator, as they are not up to the task at hand.
Talk to your other moderators and advise them they need to act with a sense of balance and professionalism when moderating the forums.
In return, I will continue my participation on the forums, and continue to help the ColdFusion community members where I can, in the spirit of goodwill and co-operation. I will also try to convince Jason to do the same.
If you cannot see right to resolve this situation appropriate, I will surrender my membership of the forums and cease helping your community.

I suggest you take a breather and go do something else for a few days or weeks. Don't stomp your feet and say "I'm done for good, I won't be back", because like it or not, some of the reason you're here is to benefit YOU, and if you do go cold turkey you'll miss that benefit.
In other words, "never say never".
Like you, I have been extremely frustrated by the running of the forum from time to time as well. Sometimes it's the quality of the forum software, sometimes it's the mix of other immature people who comment, sometimes it's just me. Usually it's not the moderation or actual running of the forum, but I do understand where you're coming from.
I have benefited greatly on several occasions just by taking a vacation from forum participation.
We all have to understand two things:
1. We're able to communicate here by the good graces of Adobe, who are first and foremost a business, trying to achieve their business goals. They'd rather not upset all the idiots, because unfortunately idiots have money to spend too.
2. Nobody's perfect.
I'm not sure about the specifics, but the moderators are generally also volunteers. See item 2 above.
Hope you don't choose to stop contributing to the community, as no matter what, your contribution is good for the world.

OBIEE 11.1.1.7 installation Issues - Fails on Creating a Domain

Hi,
I have completed all the steps mentioned in different posts in this forum regarding my error, but none of them helps. After comprehensive searching i have tried to install OBIEE with these steps also.
1st time installation:
1. Followed simple steps
   a) Created schema using RCU on MS SQL Server successfully.
   b) After that ran the setup of OBIEE, it succeeded all the way, but when it was configuring it stuck on Creating Domain, and eventually failed after 180 minutes.
2nd time installation:
I completely removed, OBIEE from my system, with all the registry entries included. Started a fresh installation after reading all these forum posts. but still it failed again on Creating a domain, this time i kept on re-trying for 3 times, it failed and it took me about 315 minutes overall.
a) Create a loop back adapter.
b) Assigned that adapter an IP (10.10.10.10). Configured the /etc/host file reflecting my adapter IP and hostname.domain name.

Adobe Flash/Photoshop/After Effects CS4 Installation - Internet Explorer Script Error

Greetings everyone. Another Adobe Installation disaster story.
I'm trying to install the aforementioned products (Flash, Photoshop, After Effects) on my computer, but I get about 20 "Internet Explorer Script Error"'s every time. [I don't even use Internet Explorer] I don't understand why the installation worked on a different computer I own but not this one. Both of them are running Windows XP Home.
I've already tried removing all Adobe Products, using msicuu2.exe, CS4CleanupScript from Adobe, etc...

How do I overcome error message "Installer failed to initialize."

I have Production Premium CS5.5. I need to install it on a new computer. The files downloaded fine. When I double-click on "Setup.exe," the install starts, but I get the error message "Installer failed to initialize." How do I overcome that?

You may disable antispyware and antivirus software or remove adware or spyware from your computer and then install Acrobat or Adobe Reader as BrianD_22932 mentioned.
As I known, a certain type of adware running on the system can cause 1935 errors.
I would like to suggest you remove adware and then install Acrobat or Adobe Reader.
1. Start the Task Manager.
2. Look at the Processes tab. Look for a process named wtoolsa.exe.
3. If this process is running, then you remove this adware.
4. Install Acrobat or Adobe Reader again.
In some cases, the 1935 error results from orphaned registry keys from a different version of the .NET Framework than the one being installed. Uninstalling the .NET
frameworks, removing orphaned registry keys that can remain, then reinstalling the .NET Framework can help in this situation.

WWC-43176 when register Oracle Discussion Forum Portlet.

Hi,
i want to install the Oracle Discussion Forum Portlet in our Oracle iAS 10.1.2.0.0.
My Problem is that all went fine until i want to register the Forum Portlet. I get WWC-43176 Error: The provider URL specified may be wrong or the provider is not running, but i did not belive this error message.
Have anyone sucessfully done this on this iAS Version? When yes how did you get this to work.
Any help will be nice.

CS2 installer crashes

I recently did a clean install of Tiger on an old G4, and changed the profile name. This computer will now not allow me to install CS2; when I enter the admin password, the installer quits. One Web forum I looked at suggested this could be due to a permissions issue. If so, what could I do to solve it?

Also no Creative Suite will install on a Case Sensitive formatted Drive. It must be HFS+

Installation of CS6

I have "installed" Photoshop CS6, going through all of the acceptances, etc. only to find out that I still have CS 5 Version 12.0 X 64. How do I get this situation resolved? Any help would be appreciated.
When CS5 comes up I get this message -

What is the best way to move the Installer folder to another drive?

The Installer folder on an SSD with limited space has grown to 30GB. I am willing to take the risk to move this folder to another HD. I have read about moving the folder using junction on other versions of Windows. Is that still the best
approach?

I suggest do back up and create system restore before doing this, because this solution comes from 3rd party and I haven't tried this
