I purchased the DVD for Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 and am unable to download onto my computer. I have a DVD RW Drive and I disconnected the Norton Firewall, but the disc will not load. I also tried to download the trial version and it will NOT download. So what is next, I paid for this program but cannot use it. I have a New HP ENVY dv7 Notebook operating with the Windows 8 system.

Are you logged in as Administrator on your windows 8 system? If not can you right-click on the DVD drive and then choosing "run as Administrator".
Do you get any error messages or are you saying that the DVD isn't "Auto-Starting" when you insert it in the drive?

Corrupted Font in Motion

Hi,
My copy of the font Gill Sans is becoming corrupted when I try to use it between Motion & Final Cut; I'm using one of the templates that require Gill Sans, and I have to stick with it because I'm sharing the FCP / Motion Project files with another editing house.
Any text that I enter in the Motion Template in FCP (and is written in Gill Sans) has a curious problem: the right hand vertical quarter of random letters disappears. I'm presuming that my copy of Gill Sans has become corrupted, causing this problem.
However I can't find a proper Mac copy of Gill Sans as a font to download & replace on my computer.
I've tried going back through my Mac Install discs, and I can't just re-load the Gill Sans font (or perhaps I'm missing the point where that's possible - I've been looking under custom installs).
I've posted a question about replacing this font in the Mac OSX 10.6 installation discussion area, but if anybody here could help me, it would be greatly appreciated.

hi,
someone posted about something very similar recently, but i can't find it. If I remember rightly it wasnt due to a corrupted font, but some funny business within motion. As far as i remember there was a pretty easy fix, but of course I cant remember what it was. Something like turning the drop shadow on and off again. In the meantime, do you have any filters applied to the font? You could try making sure that the Group the font is in has its resolution set to fixed.

Preparing to Upgrade to LiveCycle® ES from 7.x document error: page 85, when configuring the JMS with Microsoft SQL Server 2005 for JBoss 4.0.3 SP1. Step 5: Modifiy <local-tx datasource> element ..... <connection-url> jdbc:microsoft.sqlserver ..... <c/onnection-url>, in mssql-ds.xml file:
Should be: <connection-url>jdbc:sqlserver://.... </connection-url>
Notice the word "microsoft" needs to be removed as this is SQL 2005, not SQL 2000.
Also, in the same JMS configue file, com.microsoft.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriver should be changed to com.microsoft.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriver as the driver-class.

JBoss 4.0.3 SP1
Windows 2003 SP1
Adobe ES 8.2
If not corrected, you'll see error like this in log file:

Lost sound associations

I posted this question a little earlier in the OS/X Installation discussion and it it was suggested there that I might get help here. The question:
I have a new iMac. As suggested during the installation I linked it to my old Mac via Firewire and copied data over. This worked in general but in my iMovie files I now hear no sound (they still work on the old Mac).
Can anyone explain how I can restore the sound associations to the files?

Hello Catspaw,
Your advice didn't solve the problem directly but it got me onto the right track. Having checked what you suggested, I investigated further and found I was getting sound nowhere, not only in iMovie.
Looking in System Preferences->Hardware->Sound I found that the Mute tick box was checked. After unticking that the sound worked fine.

12c install on Windows without admin account?

Is it possible to grant a non-administrator group member account explicit permissions to be able to install the software without adding the user to the local (or domain) administrators group?
I'm stumbling into the issue described in other installation discussions where I get an error:
SEVERE: [FATAL] [INS-30131] The initial setup that is required to run the installation program validation was not successful.
CAUSE: Access to the temp directory was not successful.
ACTION: Ensure that the current user has the necessary permissions to access the temp directory.
So I can ask my helpdesk to allow me to create/enable the admin share, but I'm concerned that this will get me only as far as the next error message.
In general, our company policy is to enforce separation of duties and deny explicit admin permissions, so I would like to identify the explicit requirements for installation to work
(that said, I need to get the software installed, so if it's not documented anywhere, I'll probably just ask for admin privs).

Have you tried skipping the 'Install public JRE' step, it's should only
be this step that requires admin privileges.
We will verify the behaviour and fix it if it's not the case.
If skipping the jre step doesn't help, you can do the following:
*Unzip 'win_ia32_jrockit150_03_sdk_no_jre.zip' and
'win_ia32_jrockit150_03_jre.zip' from the installer exe
('jrockit-25.2.0-jdk1.5.0_03-win-ia32.exe'), put them for instance in
c:\tmp.
*Unzip 'win_ia32_jrockit150_03_sdk_no_jre.zip' into c:\jrockit (or some
other directory of your choice).
*Unzip 'win_ia32_jrockit150_03_jre.zip' into c:\jrockit\jre

ITunes CDs won't play on HiFi CD player

Apologies for cross posting. I originally posted this to the installation discussion by mistake.
I recently installed the 5.0 update for iTunes on my G3/400 (Pismo) and since then cds I burn from playlists don't play on my Rotel cd player. They play fine on the computer. Basically, the hi-fi player doesn't recognize there's a cd in it.
Anyone have any ideas why this might be happening? I've burned straight to cd from iTunes using the Audio CD option, so it should play fine (I've checked and rechecked that the Audio CD is selected as the Preferences option). CDs I burned under earlier versions have played fine.

Thanks, Kay. Here's what I found after trying your suggestions:
First, I was using CD-R, and I know that's important.
Second, I double checked and yes, I was burning to AudioCD.
Third, I tried new CD-R media, et voilla!, it worked (first media was Maxell CD-R Music CD, and what worked was Sony CD-R). But here's the catch. Before upgrading to iTunes 5, CDs I had burned using the Maxell CD-R Music CDs worked fine in the player (still do). Now they don't. What could possibly cause that behavior? I thought a CD-R was pretty much a CD-R, and further, that the software should work pretty much the same re: how it burns to different media, even after an upgrade. Guess I'm wrong on at least one account.
BTW, I don't want to blame iTunes 5 as I don't know for sure, but I have had lots of crashes and kernal panics since upgrading...

ThinkVantage Message Center confusion

If I install ThinkVantage Productivity Center here:

The reason I'm asking is because after Productivity Center installation, there is already a Message Center window at the bottom of the Productivity Center interface. But when I search Lenovo, there is another Message Center that can be downloaded and installed.I.e. does the Productivity Center Message window still work without the separate Message Center installer?
Also, Lenovo informs that ThinkVantage Sytem Updates will no longer work here:

and we have to use Message Center Plus. Is this a stand alone application or does it need the separate Message center Installer discussed above also?

Read DVD at a slower speed?

How can I read a DVD as\t slower speeds?
I have a home made DVD which I would like to convert to MP3 (Gospel sermon from my church)
But the guy who made the DVD's for me put a CD label/sticker (like those printable ones -> like this template here ) but the genius didn't place the label to the center of the DVD.. so how when my Macbook Pro read the DVD it seems to be spinning to fast and starts to vibrate (the label is throwing it of balance a bit while it is spinning) and then I start to get a light noise & vibration from the DVD reader/drive on my laptop

I sucessfully installed Solaris 10 via the installation dvd after reburning it on a lower setting. The OS booted and works wonderfully. When I start my computer, the GRUB loader comes up and I am able to select both my Windows and Solaris operating systems to boot!
Unfortunately, when I select Windows (Vista Home Premium) from GRUB, it loads into Vista's "cannot boot windows!" dialogue. I loaded the Vista install disc and attempted a fixmbr and a system repair, but BOTH said that my filesystem was corrupt! However, I opened up a command prompt and can access not only all files on the windows partition, but can run the dos programs from the command prompt, so the drive is fully intact. Is this normal, and do I have to boot Windows Vista with GRUB in a special manner? Vista uses a different type of bootsector than previous versions, so maybe I need to configure GRUB? I know this is no longer completely a "Solaris Installation" discussion, but my problem arose from Solaris Installation, so help would be appreciated. I don't want to rewrite a second Vista over my lovely new (working!) Solaris partition. :(

hi , i have already install my oracle 8i personnel edition to my computer , but my sql plus don't seen to work ,
i understand that they username are ( scott ) and password are ( tiger ) but after i type them and press ok there will be a box coming out and it said ( Cannot open registry Software \ORACLE\HOME1\SID_LIST Starting with default sid )
after i click ok there will be another box asking for password , but i what is the password ? it look to me like a internal password , it can't be tiger for this , cos before that i have already type in my username and password , this is the later part , anyone can help? pls reply, thank alot Nigel,
I'm not sure about Oracle8i Personal Edition. The default username/passwords are:
scott/tiger
system/manager
sys/change_on_install as sysdba
You could try the database installation discussion forum for more help. If you find out what the password for this dialog is, please post it to this group for the benefit of others.

Multiple oracle client (81 and 9i) on NT4.0

Hi All,
I have installed 2 oracle client in my PC but it doesn't work properly when I choose the oracle home uses Oracle installation product -> Home selector
2 oracle clients in my PC uses different oracle home as below:-
Oracle816 --> OraHome81
Oracle9i --> orahome9i
Both oracle client are intalled in the different path as below:-
c:/orant/
d:/ora9i/
When I choose the OraHome81 from home selector and logon to db uses TOAD, somehow and don't know why, it will still point to orahome9i.
Can some one tell me how to solve this?

I searched results for my topic, one discussion was provided. I am no closer to downloading installer assistant than I was 15 min ago.

I have been trying to download a trial version of Photoshop elements, but can't get by the Installer Asisstant log in. I assume they are asking for my Adobe ID. My problem began when I bought an iMac and could not use the discs to load the programs. Instead I have to download both elements land premiere, and I assume I eventually get ownership of the programs. I changed my password yesterday and wondering if that may be causing the problem.

Discussion Forum installation problem

Hi,
I'm having trouble installing the discussion forum by Peter Moskovits. The test page (http://server:port/df/providers) gives the message "The page cannot be found". It seems to be looking for a /df/ directory under /htdocs/. Can anyone help me?

Has the application been deployed successfully (ear file unzipped, ...)?
Did you make all the necessary changes to the config files (http-web-site.xml, server.xml)? Can you double-check whether you have any typos in there?
Could you post the relevant sections of the config files here?

You must install the Windows Support software. This support software contains the Windows drivers for your hardware. Since you are running Snow Leopard, the support software is on the Snow Leopard installation disk.

Update:
I tried what the diagnostic told me to do, and repaired the installation. I was able to burn a CD in iTunes, but after I restarted, the drives have disappeared again! Here's the diagnostic info now:

Installation problem on Vista

I'm unable to successfully get the SOA server up and running on Vista using Oracle database 10.2.0.4.
When starting the SOA or BAM server, the system responds after a while that the server started ok, but the deployments apparently fail.
I have the following questions:
1. I followed the document "Oracle Fusion Middleware Quick Installation Guide for Oracle SOA Suite" 11g Release 1 (11.1.1). The version is Beta Draft: 2009-03-27. Is this the version to use for the April 10 release?
2. When installing, the only problem I saw was during the creation of the ESS schema with RCU. In the installation manual it is not listed as a required schema for BPEL or BAM. Is it ok to ignore this schema?

I also get an error with ESS schema - though a different one than you emailed to me. I'm using XE database and Windows XP.
The document you have for installation is the right one and I agree that you don't need the ESS schema for SOA/BAM.
I don't recognize the error you see in the Admin Server log. Would you confirm this is after the Admin Server is in the RUNNING state and while you are starting the managed server? Are there any errors in the managed server log?
We did have one PM install on Vista and he had to disable ipv6 which is the default on Vista. Here is a forum discussion on it:

You may also encounter the network issue described in the known issues doc (eventually - you don't see the problem until you are deploying your project from jdev).
