It's curious, you request the more specific one for a wide range of Operating Systems, but you don't even specify the oracle version nor the OS version, it's quite difficult to be specific when the request isn't. There are plenty of linux platforms where it is possible to run oracle, OEL(4,5), RHEL(4, 5), SLES (9, 10), Ubuntu, Fedora, Solaris (8, 9, 10) - sparc64, x86, x64, etc. etc. etc.
There are plenty of installation guides, you can start with the official oracle installation site, and once you have specified a concrete platform you can come back and discuss about an specific installation guide.

I am new to PI, i took the installation files including the exports from 1 of my friend.
The version is NetWeaver2004s-XI SR2.
But i am unable to find the installation doc in Service Market Place for PI 2004s Sr2.
In SMP i can only see docs related to PI 7.1.
Can any 1 please help me in getting the installation doc PI 2004s Sr2.

Coming to PI 7.1 we can see a section in SMP like

SAP NetWeaver Process Integration 7.1 and SAP NetWeaver Process Integration 7.1 including SAP Enhancement Package 1
where in we can get installation doc for PI7.1
Thought in d same way i can get for PI 7 also.
If i look @ PI7.1 inst doc we have even post installation steps also.
So any Docs available in SMP or SDN for PI 7. I am trying to install on my laptop for practice purpose.
It would be of great help if any 1 can give installation doc links particular to PI 7.

Procedure to uninstall Apps There is no direct way to uninstall Apps, you need to follow manual steps to clean your previous installation. For more details, please refer to Note: 110372.1 - (11i: How to Clean up the UNIX Environment After Install Fails)

For a Single node installation:
To Shutdown all services ..
1) Shutdow Application Services (adstpall.sh apps/<apps_password>)
2) Shutdown DB Listener (addlnctl.sh stop <SID>)
3) Shutdown DB (addbctl.sh stop immediate)
To Startup all services ..
1) Start DB (addbctl.sh start)
2) Start DB Listener (addlnctl.sh start <SID>)
3) Start Application Services (adstrtal.sh apps/<apps_password>)

which oracle version? 10g or 11gR1 or 11gR2 .
if you would like to learn installation and learning purpose you can install RAC,ASM using vmware.
refer tim hall's documentation in oracle-base 10g RAC installing in windows 2003 using vmware or 11g RAC using VMware.

I can't ssh into my machine!
Edit your /etc/hosts.deny file. The default configuration will reject all incoming connections.
Shouldn't people just add
sshd:ALL
to /etc/hosts.allow ?
Allow rules supercede deny rules, so ssh would be allowed. Then all the other connections are still by default denied.
I think that would be better.

I run web, mail, ssh, and more on that box. I, of course, use a firewall to control what I let in, and out. I don't know exactly which programs actually use tcp_wrappers, but off the top of my head I am pretty sure that nfs and sshd use it.
Ah - in that case, if sounds like a great idea!
nfs isn't installed nor enabled per default, so it shouldn't pose a threat either

Installation 10g on vista

I did following :
1) already downloaded from website
2) click on setup.exe
and zip file has been unzip then ask starter database ORCL password : Confirm pasword :
3) dialog box with following error :
Abnormal program trmination. An internal error has occured. please provide following files to oracle support:
"Unknown"
"Unknown"
"Unknown" Ok.
4) another dialog box showing following :
Installation is prgress .........
Showing graph for progressing ........................
finally i comeout from these all , Now How i can install ?? what about registry ?

Lets go back to the beginning first.
1. Did you download and read the installation docs (http://docs.oracle.com) or read the file included with the installation?
2. Did you check to see if your version of Vista is supported (you didn't seem to think it important to mention here)?
3. What did Oracle write to the installation log file?
People that follow the directions and have a supported operating system almost never have installation issues.

Installation of Enterprise Manager for oracle 10g

Hello.
have a database created on oracle 10.2.0.1.0, but I don't have installed the enterprise manager.
I need to install the enterprise manager to manage the database.
Anyone knows any procedure or any link to see some examples of installation.

A couple of quick points:
1. 10.2.0.1 is many years old an in desupport mode. Currently supported versions are 11.1.0.6 and above.
2. Enterprise Manager is not required to do anything and many of us prefer to not use it.
That said ... did you read the installation docs? Which ones? Please provide the link and explain what in the doc is not clear.

Oracle ebs installation on windows 2008 R2

I am doing oracle EBS installation on windows 2008. As per installation doc below are the pre-requisite
The Prerequisites Software are:
1.Chose and Operating System windows 2008 (32 bit):
Select the Windows Operating system and install it. After installed OS successfully need to change DNS entries or Active Directories as per your environment.
2.Install the Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 software.

9.2.0.6 DBCA installation fails on SuSe9 SP1

Hi all,
2*PIII 800Mhz 40GB
Linux SuSe 9 SP1
I istaled Oracle software 9.2.0.4 and then I add 9.2.06 patch.
Then I tryied to create database with DBCA but after I try to start creation by clicking OK button in the last step , in the shell I get message :
/opt/oracle/product/9ir2/bin/dbca: line 124: 3941 Segmentation fault
(core dumped) $JRE_DIR/bin/jre -DORACLE_HOME=$OH -DJDBC_PROTOCOL=thin -mx64m -classpath
$CLASSPATH oracle.sysman.assistants.dbca.Dbca $ARGUMENTS
so dbca wont start creating database
BTW, chose general purpose....

My bad ... didn't pay attention thru installation docs so I missed the fact that this is known problem which can be fixed by:
Step 1--> Backup $ORACLE_HOME/bin/dbca shell script
Step 2--> Change only line #124 in the $ORACLE_HOME/bin/dbca script
to include -native flag as follows
$JRE_DIR/bin/jre -native -DORACLE_HOME=$OH -DJDBC_PROTOCOL=thin -mx64m
-classpath $CLASSPATH oracle.sysman.assistants.dbca.Dbca $ARGUMENTS
Step 3--> Run the root.sh and continue running the configuration assistants
