Installation EHP (1+2+3) 4 and Installation NW EHP1

Hello,
We have to install all EHP (1-4) for our ERP 6.0 (SPS9), and as well the EHP 1 for NW.
We have all DVDs available (EHP4 READY, etc.)
Have I install first the EHP 3 via SPAM/SAINT, and then the EHP4 with the EHPi ?
Or can I start the installation with the DVD "EHP4 / EHP1NW Upgrade Master" ? If yes, how? There are just archives..
Regards,

Dear Rainer,
the "EHP4 ready" DVD is for new customers (basically this is an up-to-date "ECC Server 6.0" without any EHP4 application components).
As you have an existing ECC system you have to use the Maintenance Optimizer (SolMan 7.0 EHP1) to download the EHP and Support packages and generate the stack XML (which the EHP Installer requires).
It makes no sense to install EHP3 (or any SP's first) - you will just double the effort. Hence SAP recommends to install EHP4 (with the EHP Installer) in one step.
Note that there is only one technical exception: 32 Bit platforms, please refer to the Master Guide for more information.
A good starting point to understand the overall concept is the Must Know Guide:
http://service.sap.com/~sapidb/011000358700001166742007E
To learn more about the step-by-step the E2E EHP4 installation procedure I can recommend the How-To-Install EHP4 guide:

Best regards,
Christian.

  • How to go from NW 7.0 (and 7.0 EhP1) to NW 7.0 EhP2 Java only.

Hi, I'm trying to figure out the correct way to go from NW 7.0 (and 7.0 EhP1) to NW 7.0 EhP2 on a single stack system (Java Only).
Some threads on the forum mention the use of SAPEHPI, however, when I go to see the SAPEHPI guide for Java (http://service.sap.com/instguides -> SAP NetWeaver 7.0 (2004s) -> Maintenance -> Enhancement Package Installation on Existing SAP Systems -> SAP Enhancement Package Installation on Java Systems (using SAPehpi) -> Windows), there are two statements on the constraints section:
    - Do not use the SAP Enhancement Package Installer to only install Support Package stacks. This function is exclusively supported for ABAP-only systems.
    - Do not use the SAP Enhancement Package Installer if you want to update only the Java stack of a dual-stack system. For this scenario you must use the Java Support Package Manager (JSPM).
    That leaves me confused.
On the SP Stack application for NW 7.0, there is no EHP2 option on the target system drop down (as there is for EHP1, meaning you can use JSPM to move from 7.0 to 7.0 EhP1), also, on the SP Stack application for NW EhP2, on the source system, there is no option to select a a 7.0 nor 7.0 EhP1.
So, what is the correct way to upgrade/update from NW 7.0 or NW 7.0 EhP1 to NW 7.0 EhP2 (consider this is for a single stack system:  Java AS with EP and EP Core)?
    Thanks in advance!

  • What is the difference between SAP NW PI7.1 and PI7.1 EHP1

We have a customer using SAP PI7.1 EHP1. The application to be deployed
isdeveloped on SAP Netweaver PI 7.1 SP06.
We need to know if application developed and transported from PI7.1 is
    compatible with EHP1?
Below are the Components used by the application .
    1) SSL communication using SOAP adapter
    2) Java mapping , Graphical mapping , XSLT mapping
    3) Customised EJB modules
    4) Adapter framework
    5) ALE layer for IDoc communication from ERP to PI
    6) RFC lookups to PI system and ERP system.
    Questions
1)Will PI EHP1 be able to communicate with PI7.1 using SOAP adapter ?
    2) What is the difference between SAP NW PI7.1 and PI7.1 EHP1 ?

You must also make various configuration steps in other components of your PI environment.

  • ECC 6.0 with EHP1 installation

    Hi Guys,
Not able find the correct installation guide for ECC6.0 installation (SR3) on AIX/DB2 platform. Can anybody please provide some link for the same ?
Also my customer has a requirement for latest available EHP i.e. EHP4. I understand that first we have to install EHP1 and then upgrade the system to EHP4. Is there any other alternative ?
Please provide some inputs if you worked on ECC6.0 installation with EHP1/4. I'm urgently looking for some help on this.
    Thanks

    Hi Mike,
If this is a fresh installation then you should go with the ERP 6.0 EHP4 READY SR1 Installation. The plus point will be in ehp4 ready, after the installation the netweaver software components are already on ehp1 and kernel is 7.01, while the ecc software components are still in the 600 level.then you can update it to EHP4 using EHPi.But remember  it is MANDATORY that you should proceed with the EHP4 installation using SAPephi, else i think the system will be in a state where SAP will not support and its not advised to use system like that.
if you go with the normal installation you'll get version 700 and kernel on 700 and then you take it to EHP4.
I will go with option one.
    Best Regards
    Niraj

  • ECC 6.0 with EHP4 fresh Installation

    Hello Gurus,
A fresh ECC 6.0 with EHP4 needs to be installed on Wnidows + Oracle Platform, please let me know which of the following path should be followed?
    1. SAP NW 7.0 installation (without EHP1)  --> EHP 1 installation --> EHP4 Installation
    2. SAP NW 7.0 with EHP1 installation --> EHP4 installtion
    3. SAP NW 7.0 installation --> EHP4 installation
The other way to ask this questions is what are the dependencies between NW7.0 (ECC 6), EHP1 and EHP4?
Please let me know which of the above options is feasible and recommended. Please let me know a better option if its not present in the above options.

  • Making it clear - in technical... Ehp

    Hello,
I want to understand the Ehp technical background. I read throu almost all PDFs and notes. From them I assume the following:
An Ehp is similar to an SPS but in a bigger size.
An Ehp can contain new components in contrast with SPS which can contain only SPs for components which are already installed in the system.
So technically they are the same but the Ehp techology can install new components, and that's why SAP needed to introduce a new tool sapehpi to be able to do it in the background automatically.
So according to "Note 1064635 - SAP ERP Enhancement Packages: SP Stacks Release Info Note" , if you have an ERP 6.0 and want to update it but don't want to introduce new components you can apply SPS 15 which equals Ehp4 SPS3 state. But if you want to add new components you have two alternatives:
    1. "Old fashined way": Install with SAINT and than patch with SPS
    2. "New way": Install Ehp containing the new component and use sapephi (Ehp4).
But there is one more question unanswered for me: if this true what exactly and technically mean the version difference (for example: 600 -> 604 (Ehp4))?
    I appriciate any comment.
    Rob

There is not much technical difference between a "classical upgrade" using R3up/SAPup (e. g. R/3 4.7 --> ERP 6.0) and using SAPehpi:
    - A classical upgrade uses the "upgrade export" provided on DVDs to build the shadow instance. SAPehpi uses a copy of the source system to build it (phase RSDBSCPY on EHPI vs. EU_IMPORT* on SAPup)
    - SAPehpi needs and uses an XML file generated by Solution Manager to define the queue, in a classical upgrade this is done by uploading Addons and patches in BIND_PATCH
SAINT is supported for EHP installations only on 32bit systems but technically the same things happen. In that case you have to
    1. install the new kernel (7.01)
    2. run SAINT to build up the shadow instance and import the packages
    3. restart the system and continue with SAINT

  • SAPehpi and Windows distributed environment

Hi,  We have Windows platform with Oracle databases in distributed and high-availability environment.
I have tried to install EHP1 for PI 7.1.  I have used SAPehpi as described in installation manual.  SAPehpi will stop
when querying database information.  It uses brtools and this will fail because Oracle is another server and you cannot
use brtools in primary application server os-level.
SAPehpi should be started on primary application server as described in manual. But the instructions how to use tool
in distributed environment just give information about microsoft cluster SCS and ASCS handling. I need to know
howto use this tool with remote Oracle database.
Why I can't just use SAINT and JSPM, I don't need slow and complicated tools like this. I don't need shadow instance
because just building up the systems.
Do I have to install temporary PAS instances to database server to get this work? Any experience using this tool
    on distributed env?
    BR. Jari

    > My question was actually criticism againts this new tool.  SAINT and JSPM were working fine in already installed and configured
    > SAP systems.
Yes - you're right - but they require a HUGE downtime since the whole system must be locked as the first runtime step of SAINT is started; depending on the speed of the system and the number of packages you'd have downtimes of two days or more; this is fine for test- and/or qa-systems but it's not for production systems.
    > Now this SApehpi tool doesn't work in current installation without changing configurations.
SAPehpi is basically nothing else than a SAPup - so a real upgrade (as if you'd upgrade e. g. from 4.6c to ERP 6.0 or from XI 3.0 to PI 7.1).
I agree with you that the communication of that fact was not clear, one can get the impression, that the installation of EHP1 is the same as a support package installation. It is not, it's a real upgrade of the system requiring lots of additional work.
    > We have already configured DBAcockpit via SAP gateways because remote shell was not wanted to use.
    I see.
    > But I haven't found a way to tell SAPehpi how to use gateway for brtools. Solution cannot be that I have to
    > change SAP supported installation just to get EHP1 installed.
    >
    > I think this tool is released without proper testing.
That tool was basically used for all upgrades that have been done since 2.x (R3up, SAPup) and is now "renamed" to SAPehpi. The Java upgrade functionality was integrated, former combined upgrades required two upgrade programs (SAPup and SAPJup) running and synchronizing at the same time.
I understand your problem - I'm not aware of any way to tell SAPehpi to use the RFC or gateway functionality to connect to the database; I suggest you write an email to "EHP-TECH at SAP dot COM", maybe those guys and girls have an idea how to do that.
EHP1 for PI 7.1 is a system upgrade, not a support package installation.

  • Solution Manager EHP 1

    Hello,
has anybody started looking into EHP1 for Solution Manager on iSeries?
I have started downloading the packages/DVDs, but I am wondering if I need the 7.01 Kernel. It seems that it is provided for all platforms except iSeries. And according to the OSS note for EHP1 I should use R3trans 7.01.
    Thanks,
    Ingrid

    Hello Paul,
currently, following strategies for new Enhancement Package installations are supported for SAP on IBM i:
    EhP1 for SAP NetWeaver 7.0
Start with 7.00 kernel in the SAP system, use of SAP EHP Installer 7.00
    EhP4 for SAP ERP 6.0
Start with 7.00 kernel in the SAP system, use of SAP EHP Installer 7.00
EhP1 for SAP Solution Manager 7.0
Start with 7.01 kernel in the SAP system (as preparation step, no productive use), use of SAINT/JSPM
Elder Enhancement Packages for SAP ERP 6.0 (EhP1-EhP3) will still be applied with SAINT and the 7.00 kernel has to be kept.
Productive use of 7.01 kernels in 7.00 based SAP systems (from point of view of application components like SAP_BASIS) is not supported by SAP at all since this kernel has not been certified as downward compatible kernel (DCK). And of course, once an EHP has been installed you may not run this SAP system with a 7.00 kernel anymore.
At the moment, there is some delay providing necessary 7.00 patches to enable installation of EhP1 for Solution Manager 7.0. This is a known issue and we are working hard on it. It is planned to provide a suitable solution end of January 2009. With release of the patches please have a look at SAP note 1284805 and follow its instuctions carefully.

  • NW 7.3 and roles from backend instances

    Hi
I'm trying to find out more information about roles from backend instances in NW 7.3.  In particular how the roles are synchronised with changes that may occur to the roles in the backend (ie role changes or users allocated to the role).
I haven't been able to find this kind of details in SAP Help or SMP.
    Thanks
    Doug

    Hi,
I did face the same problem when i first configured AS JAVA system and really struggle and grease my elbow to get it working.
I would advise your to upgrade to latest SP level, SP03 and also the CIM and CR Content for SLD to eliminate all possible bugs.
However you can try as below:
    1) go to SMSY -> search for the SID instance
    2) Highlight the SID and click "Change"
    3) Technical system editor will prompt out, and you'll see no Product Version and Product System assigned.
    4) Next, navigate to software component and click on "Software Component Versions" and assigned the correct product instance by click the fitting SC proposal. SAVE and leave the page.
    5) Now, go to SOLMAN TX: LVSM and webdynpro will display
    6) Ensure the Landscape verification job is full sync and completed. Else, you can trigger using LVSM_LOAD.
    7) Go to tab "Errors Warnings" and look for the SID, and you'll see that product instance SID is not assign to a product system.
    8) on the same page, click "Add product system" and select the correct product and product version. For eg: Your product is Netweaver EHP2 you should first assign product as SAP Netweaver, and Version is EHP1.
    9) Select the correct SID and correct Product Instance on the next screen, click Finish and SAVE once done. Remember, you can only select ONE PRODUCT INSTANCE HERE!!
    10) Now, go back to Technical System Editor and change the entry for the particular SID.
    11) Here, you can see the Product Versions and Product System is filled on the main object. Check all your entry and save is everything is correct.
    12) Go back to SMSY, and you should able to see the SID is populated under the correct Product and Product Version.

  • Minimum Patch Level Required to install Netweaver 7.0 and Portal

    Hello Everyone,
We are currently on ECC6.0 and I need to know what the minimum Patch Level needs to be to install Netwever 7.0 and Portal.
    Thank you,
    Ahhsap

    Hi,
As Sunny suggested, check if you have an existing portal instance.
    If not:
Like I mentioned earlier, if you had upgraded ECC 6 to EHP4, then you need to install a separate NW EHP1 Portal. Since both your existing EHP4 ECC system and the new EHP1 portal are based on Netweaver 7.01 release, your systems will be in a consistent release level. It is recommended to install a separate Netweaver portal instance. SAP no longer recommends dual stack (abap + java) installations.
If you do have an existing portal instance, just upgrade the portal to Netweaver 7.0 EHP1 (if ECC is in EHP4) or latest SP for Netweaver 7.0 (if ECC is =< EHP3). I believe this can be done by either SAP EHPi or JSPM.
    Cheers

  • Upgrade from ECC 6.0 with no EHP to EHP 7

We are planning an ERP upgrade from ECC 6.0, which has no enhancement package, to EHP 7.
Can this upgrade be done :
    1. Directly to EHP7
    OR
    2. Do we need to first upgrade to a lower EHP, for example - to EHP 5 or 6 first, and then to EHP 7?
    Thanks and Regards,
    Reena
