Installation Error - Acrobat Pro X - Windows 7 Pro

Everytime I install I get this message when it is unpacking the installation file:
A problem occurred while extracting some files. Check available space on your computer and the write priviledges on the destination folder.
Considering I have over 900gb in space left on my hard drive and 8gb or ram at only 25% use, I don't see what the issue is.
Any help?

John,  I read that in another forum. I did that and got the same error.
I also have done the following:
Cleared the temporary files
Rebooted
Redownloaded
Tried downloading via Firefox and IE
Tried using the 'installers' provided by Adobe and without
Tried installing from the desktop (which is their default)
Tried installing from an external
What else am I missing?

    Hi hirokazu takada,
Can you please let us know the version of Adobe Acrobat that you are trying to install on your Dell workstation?

  • Can I de-register installation of Acrobat Pro to move to new computer?

I have two iMacs (running 10.6.8), each with an installation of Acrobat Pro 10.  I'm going to wipe the newer machine, reinstall the system software, and then use migration assistant to migrate the content of the older machine to the newer machine. I'm going to give the older machine away.
Since I'm not sure that the registration on the old machine will successfully migrate to the new machine, it seems to me that the safest thing to do is to de-register Acrobat Pro on both machines, and then do a fresh installation on the new machine.
The plan won't work, of course, if I can't de-register a copy of Acrobat pro in a way that lets me use the installation on another machine.
    TIA for any suggestions
    Tom

    >>Did your acrobat come as part of the creative cloud or creative suite software?
My answer is a little qualified, because I don't really know what the creative cloud or creative suite software are.
Because of the way software marketing works, it's not always easy for a purchaser to know if he's bought a stand-alone product, as opposed to a suite or a "cloud," or a subscription to ongoing services to be defined in the future.
With that uncertainty flagged, I think that the answer is clearly "no."
I've dug up my purchase confirmation email from the adobe store, dated 10 Feb 2011, and it says:
    >>Thank you for your purchase of downloadable Adobe products.
    >>For your records, we have included your serial numbers below.
    >>Adobe Acrobat X Pro (Mac,English)
    >>[serial number omitted]
My purchase confirmation seems pretty clear that I bought "Adobe Acrobat X Pro (Mac,English)," a stand-alone product, and nothing else besides.
Still hoping to learn how to de-activate my installations.
    TIA

I bought a scanner Fujitsu (model sv600) in which is delivered a CD of installation of Acrobat 11 for Windows. The problem is that I possess an iMac. How can it be done?

This page ScanSnap SV600 : Fujitsu Global shows that Acrobat is for Windows, not for Mac. There is no trade-up option so far as I know. Indeed, Acrobat Standard does not exist for Mac at all, only Acrobat Pro. Which you could buy.
Or, you can invest in Parallels Desktop which will allow you to run Windows apps on your Mac.

  • "The Installation Failed" Acrobat Pro on Mac

I have downloaded Adobe Acrobat Pro XI for the Mac as an upgrade from Adobe Acrobat Pro 9.
On Installation, having gone through all the steps, typed in my serial number, watched it go through the install process, a the very final stage I receive this error message:
    And then, I'm done.
I have tried to install on my MacBook Air (2011) running 10.8.2 over my existing Acrobat Pro 9.0.0.  I have over 30GB of space available on the drive and have 4GB of RAM.
Lest I had made a mistake in purchasing, I also tried downloading a trial version of Acrobat Pro XI, and installing from that download.  I received the same error message.
I downloaded a further version as a direct download from 'My Account' page - and that had the same error message.
Just to check the position, I downloaded the file to my 2007 iMac (running 10.8.2 also) and received the same message, so it is not machine-specific.
As a further precaution, I have also tried installing XI having removed v9 - just in case.  Same error message...
    Any ideas?
    Thank you.

    Hi,
As discussed over phone I am sending you the plist file as a workaround. If
this does not help I need to escalate this issue.
Before copying this plist please quit Acrobat and Safari.
Unzip the attached plist and copy/drag it to your ~/Library/Preferences/
    folder.
    Launch Acrobat.
    Open PDF in Safari.
Also it would be really helpful if you can send us the below logs: Launch
Finder > Go > Go to FolderŠ > /private/ and hit go and search for the
    below paths.
    /private/tmp/var/log/install.log
    /private/tmp/amt3.log, oobelib.log, swtag.log , PDApp.log
This is how to show/hide the hidden files on Mac:
To show hidden files in Finder, enter the following two commands into a
Terminal window (press enter after each line):
    defaults write com.apple.Finder AppleShowAllFiles TRUE
    killall Finder
To hide hidden files in Finder, enter the following two commands into a
Terminal window (press enter after each line):
    defaults write com.apple.Finder AppleShowAllFiles FALSE
    killall Finder
    Hope this helps!
    Thanks,
    Aparna

  • Install error Acrobat Pro 9 stops at Synaptics

During the install of Acrobat Pro 9 I am getting an error that stops the install.  It says:
A newer version of the Synaptics Pointing Device Driver is installed.
If you want to install the older version of the Driver, please uninstall the current Synaptics driver by selecting "Synaptics Pointing Device" from the "Add/Remove Programs" Control Panel, then run Setup again.
It only gives one option and that is "Ok".  The install cancels when ok is pressed.
I don't have "Synaptics Pointing Device" in  "Add/Remove Programs".
There is a touch pad on this Lenovo laptop running XP Pro .
How can I get around this and install  Acrobat Pro 9?
    Thanks,
    Docfxit

    Hi Docfxit
I have found at least one other instance of this happeneing:
    http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Options-Accessories/USB-UltraNav-keyboard-problems/m-p/66041
And it is not Adobe related. I think you should try Lenovo for fixing this...
Our whole office has Lenovo ThinkPads with XP Pro and have had no problem...
The Synaptics Pointing Device Driver is the driver that enables your touchpad.... So it would be under the hardware management devices, not add/remove programs... fishy...
Other than that, it looks like it's not specific to the Acro 9 installer, so we'll be hard put to help here...
    Good luck!

  • Why does the DC installer remove Acrobat Pro XI, and all of its plugins, without warning?

When you run the "Update" to Acrobat DC, Acrobat XI, and any plugins you are using, disappear. There is no warning. Pro XI is just simply gone.
It is not possible to install Pro XI along side of DC. If you try, the install seems to work, but the Applications folder only contains DC.
Also: Acrobat Pro XI does not appear in the Previous Versions list in the Creative Cloud app.
The only way I have found to get Pro XI back is to uninstall DC, then go to the Pro XI Download page: https://creative.adobe.com/products/acrobat
Click Download, and the CC applet will download and re-install Acrobat Pro XI. You will then need to re-install all your plugins.
Adobe: Thank you so much for creating a massive support headache for your customers! Your ability to screw us over knows no bounds.

Thank you very much for taking your time and answering all the itens.
    01. My description was subpar. I mean this:
    03. I did test and the number of icons it supports in each row is smaller.
    04. Are you sure this is the behavior of XI? I did edit the whole RHP creating new groups and arranging the tools accordingly to my workflow. I did not remember to not be able to remove/add a tool.
    05. The second bar is not permanent. But I understand Adobe chose to clean the UI this way and I simply prefer the other way.
    06. I still did not find the improvements. To place tools in top bar or RHP is also possible in XI. But of course I take your word and will get deeper on this.
    08. Thanks, I was thinking about a tool to search contents.
    10. I mean to dismiss definitively. Did not found a preference for this. And there is no X.
    11. It centers the window vertically no matter the exact position of the last used. Not a serious issue, but still an issue. For example: I set all windows to align to notifications. Acrobat does not:
    Acrobat is behind iTunes notification
Front: Path Finder, back: Acrobat and InDesign behind all
Acrobat is behind InDesign window, small difference at bottom
Illustrator also forgets position and open aligned at top
    12. Very very big grey Open dialog under Mac OS X
    13. It does not crash under a given operation. It occurs with any PDF file and even with no file open. Since the DC install, Illustrator also begun to crash, although less frequently. An example:
I was using 10.10.2 until some hours ago and now with the updated 10.10.3 the problem remains. I will have to do more tests trying to identify a common element or at least some clue, but the other apps, Adobe's or not, are running OK. If I get any new on this, I will keep you informed.

  • Re-Installation of Acrobat Pro X v 10.0

How do I re-download Acrobat Pro X v 10.0.0 to replace a damaged file? Only updaters are show from 10.0.1 on and they all ask for a file to update. I need to re-install from scratch and that option is not shown in download that I can find. I have my reg numbers.

you can download the trial here:  http://prodesigntools.com/adobe-acrobat-x-10-pro-reader-suite-direct-download-links-ddl.ht ml
and use your serial number to activate.
if you see an access denied page when downloading, you haven't followed the download directions.  re-read the directions.

  • Installation of Acrobat Pro 11 fails to find Adobe Acrobat X Pro.Ink file

When I try to install of the Acrobat Pro 11 update it posts a message that it can't find the Adobe Acrobat X Pro.Ink file. I've repaired Pro X but it still posts the message. If I ignore it, it continues to remove Pro X files then stops and rolls back to restore them.

I used online chat. The solution was to use the Acrobat Cleaner tool from http://labsdownload.adobe.com/pub/labs/acrobat_ittools/acrobat_ittools_cleaner_p1_040612.z ip to remove Pro X.

I'm looking for an executable or an image file (ISO or IMG) so I can take a physical media to my client for re-installation purposes. He just purchased 10 licenses via a download only version, but he would like a physical copy "just in case."

This is the only reason I use adobe products, and it's not included in the installer.  Thanks.

  • Unable to install ICloud 4.0 on Win 8.1 PC. Get Windows Installer error message. But Windows installer works fine. Any solutions?

I cannot install ICloud 4.0 on my Win8.1 PC because I get a recurring message that the Windows Installer has failed. The Windos installer works fine on other applications. So I suspect it is in the ICloud software. I have uninstalled Icloud 3.2 and deleted the apple internet services files but still no luck. Any ideas?

The error message says "There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or package vendor"
I am trying to update iCloud to 4.0 by installinh iCloud64.msi on Windows 8.1.

  • Windows Installer error box re: valid Windows Installer patch package

I have Windows XP with Internet Explorer and every time I try and download Adobe Reader I get an error box stating: "this patch could not be opened.  Verify that the patch package exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer patch package."
I was told by tech support to install Mozilla with firefox and try again...which I did with the same results.  What can I do??

Why not try this? At worst, you'll only waste some time.
